I honestly can't figure out why this book was written. It does not teach you how to "interpret" ECG's. All it does is present you with rhythms and then tell you what the interpretation is. It doesn't actually teach you HOW to interpret. After every paragraph, I would be left with the question in my head, "But...WHY?" They don't ever explain how the pathology results in what you see on the EKG paper. This book might be good for someone not actually responsible for interpreting EKG's, but just needs to rotely memorize some common rhythms...

This book is very informative. I learned a lot from and you can keep picking it up and reviewing small or large segments without getting lost.Good for getting little hints on how to remember drugs or anatomy or waves that go together.

I first purchased the 2nd Edition eight years ago, and when I was asked to teach a Basic Dysrhythmia Course at work, I found out that there was a 4th Edition. I just had to get this edition, the pictures and information in the book is basic enough for license staff and future telementary techs. No one gets lost reading this book, and it supplements what I am teaching.
Thank you for the 4th Edition. Denise (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-03-12 16:03:10 EST)

I am in the medical profession but not a nurse or doctor. ECG Interpretation made Incredibly Easy is just that. Simple english explanations with good graphics for simple understanding of what the basic squiggly lines mean. I wasn't interested in diagnosing just interpreting what the strip meant to my treatments of a patient in cargiac rehab. This book suited that purpose.

These are the best nursing books... I have quite a few of them and they are wonderful. They make it easy for the busy nurse to review and understand the content... Excellent books....

I'm a second year RN student and I bought this book to help me better understand my ECG material. I'm planning on working ICU when I graduate; I really wanted to get a firm understanding of this content now so it will be easier to study for my ACLS in a year. This book starts from the ground up explaining the A&P needed, showing you what a normal rhythm looks like and what the components of the ecg are and what they mean physiologically. Then it gets into different dysrhythmias, explaining each one in a very straight-forward manner.
As far as one user complaining that the tracings aren't big enough... they are intended to show you the intricacies of the rhythm and spotlight areas of the strip where you'll see the indicated abnormalities... they didn't intend for you to bust out your calipers and figure out how many of these dysrhythmias were occurring, times between them, etc... Those things are explained in the text accompanying each strip and explained in great yet easy-to-follow detail. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about ECG's... especially those planning to get their ACLS. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-14 09:55:54 EST)

This book takes electrophysiology and breaks it down into manageable bites. I first bought this book when I took ACLS as a new grad and was scared to death of having to differentiate between Mobitz 1 and 2, etc...I also like using it with patients for the illustrations when trying to explain what "those strange blips on the monitor" mean.

While this book advertises that it will make ECG interpretation "easy", it does provide the proper graphics to make this possible. The first few chapters of the book are accessible and the end of chapter quizzes are helpful. However, once you get to Chapter 3"Interpreting a Rhythm Strip", the strips are impossible to interpret due the small size of the strips! You need to be able to count the boxes to interpret the rhythms and this is virtually impossible, unless you have a large magnifying glass! I thought this might be one occurrence in the book, but it is throughout, making interpretation of strips near impossible! As a novice ECG person, this is not something that I would have looked for before purchasing the book. Other ECG interpretation books have much better graphics of the strips, making interpretation (while still not "easy") doable, and not frustrating!
