I do have to say that this book is definetly a must read. Although it repeats too much on how modern political leaders lay back while the lending system is designed to screw with naive childlike modern american citizens, it really outlines common sense principles that we overlook on how to fight back and become wise in our actions of the lending industry. This book is definely an elementary read but I highly reccomend. It is always important to purchase things in life that have great use value and this book is one of them. I have saved $1,000 in literally 5 minutes and I got this book for $19.95. Do the math dummies, readers are leaders. read, read, read, even if you idolize george bush its time to wake up and smell the flowers and read this book.

Kevin Trudeau deserves his props.Even though he`s been in trouble before,he`s learned his lesson and quite frankly, has the b-lls to take on the pharmaceutical industry in his past books and now the credit card industry. Our government is trying to squash him like a mosquito because he shines a big light on areas the government does`nt want lit.
Trudeau has to walk a fine line as our government is waiting for him to make a mistake so they can pounce on him.
All of his books do have helpful information. If you don`t like his books--get a refund or don`t buy them at all.Too many people are trashing this guy. He`s trying to survive in the same cruel world we all live in.
Only complaint i have is when his books first come out on infomercials at full price, you call an 800 number to order and his operators try to hook you into other services.
If i want to read one of his books,i always wait until the book is offered in bookstores at 25% off or order it online. If you`re real patient, you can wait for paperback versions at less than half price. All of his books are an interesting read.

too basic for anyone who is not totally green to consumer finance. don't get it if you are qualified to balance a check book, pay your bills on time, etc. i got the audio book cd and the author made the mistake of reading it himself. he probably should have hired a professional reader. the cadence is a bit annoying. of also, the bashing of the credit card companies is a bit much. it is written from the perspective that consumers should not be expected to have any accountability for the decisions they make and the contracts they enter. if the author had his way with they credit card companies, no one would ever lend money to consumers because doing so would be a financial loser.

I rarely right a negative review. But I bought this book hoping for some new sources or ideas. Unfortunatley the websites and resources he provides ar all available for free with a diligent websearch. SO far having serached for 3 days I have found nothing I qualify for.
Also a lot of his ideas are commen knowledge such as public assistance.
Not worth it the only one getting rich here is him

Would you really want to buy a book from someone who claims to be a guru of: finance, natural "cures", memory and weight loss? Would you talk to your investment rep. for weight loss ot natural "cures" information? I think not. I think Suze Orman's information is MUCH MORE sound and recommended. As a banker, I think Trudeau is simply creating a book to go along with the latest panic in the news. I reviewed his Debt Cures book in a bookstore and would not buy it. There is the same free information on the internet. If you are really bent on buying it, wait for it to be sold used for $.01.

(Hide Review...)  Debt Cures- I can't believe this guy is a best selling author. Book reads like infomercial
Reviewer Permalink
I'm about 90% through this book and it disbelief that I even keep reading it. I am truly amazed this guy is a best selling author. Well over 200 pages into the book- it's like he is still trying to sell you on the book. Listen jack***- I already bought your stupid book! There is no real content, nothing you haven't heard before. It reads very much like an infomercial sales pitch, or one of those junk mail flyers for the next consumer reports book- with a blurb about what miracle you are going to discover on page 72.

A couple hundred pages into the book, he is still telling you what he is going to tell you later. Yet it never really gets to any actual content. It's all fluff and endless self praise. I think Kevin T really thinks he is the second coming. Every page is full of empty empowerment phrases and announcements from your instant freedom from bondage now that you know his secret debt cure. (like call and ask if you can pay $2,000 instead of $30,000) I'm not sure if there a single paragraph in book that doesn't end with one of these "you are now released from enslavement for eternity and can commence to extreme wealth, thanks to me and my wonderful book" type phrases- followed by several exclamation points!!!

There was no need to kill this many trees. The book could be shortened to about 9 pages of actual content. This would include the front and back covers, publishing info, dedication, title page, chapter list, and index too.

Take the money you would of spent on this book, and apply it to your credit card with the highest interest rate.

Reviewer Permalink
This very repetative book won't be any help to anyone who is in financial trouble. Do yourself a favor and put away your credit card. Better you should make a larger payment to the bill with the highest interest rate. Here is the 300 pages in a nutshell...
1) Ask your credit card company for a lower interest rate (good luck)
2) Ask your credit card company for a higher credit limit (good luck)
3) Don't miss any payments (duh!)
4) Check your credit reports for errors (Duh, Duh!)
5) Collections agencies act like bulies but really can't do much to you (he claims)
6) Some debts can't be collected if they are too old (statute of limitations)
He has no magic formula. Not everyone who writes a book has expertise. This guy just found a good title and a topic that is hot. I bet he'll sell a bunch of copies. In my opinion, he is just as bad as the banks he rants endlessly about.

I found this book helpful in learning more facts and details and methods of dealing with the credit card debt. It will be helpful to me in counseling couples and individuals and I think this is a must read for teens getting ready for college or the real world. It would be nice for them to start off knowing the ropes instead of getting tangled in them. I have also helped others find funds to ease their financial burden. And I have benefited from reducing the interest rates on my cards and credit accounts. Thanks.

(Hide Review...)  Reviews seem to have nothing to do with the book
Reviewer Permalink
It is apparent that SOME of the reviews here have nothing to do with the book; instead they are focused on attacking the author. I wonder why. I wouldn't be surprised if these so-called "reviews" aren't from the crooks and industries that Kevin Trudeau exposes. Are you all sitting in your little office cubicle typing reviews on books that you haven't even read? Maybe your boss gave you a memo instructing you to type negative reviews for this book; who knows. Having read Kevin Trudeau's books, as well as Suze Orman's, David Bach's, Robert Kiyosaki's, as well as others, you take what applies to you and can help you and you forget the rest. These reviews would be a heck of a lot more relevant if people actually read the books they're bashing.

Reviewer Permalink
I gave this book 3 stars because I did find a lot of info in it that I haven't seen in similar books. There are a couple of things that I disagree with though. One, there is NO such thing as good debt because all debt has interest. Save your money and purchase real estate and other ASSETS with cash. I also didn't agree with him in the first few chapters where he said to borrow money from family and friends to pay off debt. If something happens and you can't pay them back, there will be bad blood between you. The borrower is servant to the lender. If you want a book to really help you get out of debt the smart way I recommend "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. I followed his plan and I've never been so stress-free in my life. It's great to wake up knowing that if Murphy comes around I have the tools to send him on to somebody else.

I have been reading Dave Ramsey and have put into practice the things he teaches. They do work!!! I also joined Debtor's Anonymous and their principles do work. So, I thought I would give this book a shot to see what Mr. Trudeau has to say.
Dave Ramsey and Debtor's Anonymous teach a person that they must take personal responsibility for their debts. In Trudeau's first chapter he tells how to get out of paying back credit card debt by talking about the statute of limitations for debts in each state. In other words, never mind personal responsibility, just dodge the collectors for 3 to 6 years, depending on where you live. This is sound advice?!?!?!
Also, numerous times in the book I was told what a lucky person I am because I am reading Debt Cures and waht a wise investment this was. NOT!!!
This is the last book I will by written by this guy. If you want to truly get out of debt, read and listen to Dave Ramsey and join Debtor's Anonymous.

Debt Cures did help me. I got the credit card company to cut one of my rates in half. I called and got rid of annual fees. I now know the correct language to use when speaking to these people. This book is very helpful for those who know little about how credit card companies really work. It motivates you to pick up the phone and it makes you start to pay attention to all your credit card statements. It is worth the read!

(Hide Review...)  Comon Sense Cures that one mostly already knows PLUS the newsletter is ANOTHER RIP OFF at $9.95/issue Almost the price of the bk
Reviewer Permalink
if you see the informmercial CLICK the remote. It is a rip off. I bought the book and agree with most reviews here. Losts of FLUFF, REPETITIOUS. These hints could be written in a couple of pages and sold for a $1.00 if he truly wanted to help us. Some OK info that is common sense and one would already know. Ask someone older what do to and they will tell you probably better advice.

Here is what he charges you $29.95 for:
How to Eliminate Debt NEGOCIATE & ELIMINATE (lower rates, payoff and avoid new debt).

THE BIGGEST RIP OFF is his newsletter at $9.95 per issue. That is $120/yr I called and told them to CANCEL I could use those $120 to REDUCE my DEBT instead of giving it to him. I told them it was a big ripoff and way too costly for an almost useless newsletter. If he truly wanted to HELP us he would make an online newsletter for $5/YEAR instead of a Glossy Expensive newsletter that gets mailed.

Save your money. Take those $29.95 and send it to your credit card to reduce debt. Also call all your debtors and on a regular basis try and Negociate better terms (meaning lower APR's) get your free annual credit report and despute anything that is not right.
One sure way to help reduce debt is maybe getting a second job for awhile and putting all that money towards paying off your debt. Maybe starting a lawn care job after work or on weekends. Illegals are leaving some states because of enforcement (FINALLY) so now there will be some handyman things to for for extra cash.

GOOD LUCK

Beware of magical claims allowing you to repair your credit, eliminate your credit card debt, pay off your mortgage 20 years early (without any extra cash), or any other scheme that can perform magic for your financial situation. I will provide these tips for free. If you pay more than the minimum payments on your credit cards and do not buy any more items with those credit cards you will eventually eliminate your debt. Paying your mortgage prior to the due date each month and paying about 10% more will pay off your mortgage early. If you want to repair your credit be responsible, do not pay late, pay more than the monthly minimum, and do not maintain high credit card balances (about 30% of your total available credit or less is a good number). Also, request your credit report, challenge any incorrect items, and pay off any items that you can. Also, using credit responsibly will go a long way to rebuilding damaged credit or establishing new credit. And the easiest thing you can do that will help your financial situation is DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON KEVIN TRUDEAU'S BOOK. Google search his name and you will be surprised at the large amount of legal actions and complaints against him. Use the money you would have spent on his book and order up a credit report, or if you have not requested one this year, you are entitled to a free report from each credit agency.
