|
For Jon and Erin Bennett, the world seems to be spinning dangerously out of control. A new dictator is rising in Iraq. China is making threatening new moves toward Taiwan. North Korean forces appear ready to strike south. Israel is feverishly trying to complete the Third Temple. Oil prices are surging. And in the wake of an horrific war in the Middle East, President James MacPhersons second term is coming to an end. Now the battle to succeed him is heating up into one of the most fiercely contested presidential elections in American history, and the Bennetts realize the stakes could not be higher. Who will lead a bitterly divided country over the next four years? What can the U.S. do to shape the new world order? And just what role--if any--does the U.S. play in the last days? As the presidential campaign narrows into a dead heat, the Secret Service learns of a catastrophic plot to assassinate one of the candidates--but which one, and can the terrorists be stopped in time?

This is my first dive into a Joel Rosenberg book, maybe because I've only heard of his writings in the secular circles, but I must say I was thoroughly impressed. I thought it would be heavy on the political and light on the Biblical but I was very wrong. Joel has written a strong political thriller from a solid biblical worldview, which unfortunately is not as common as you'd think in the Christian fiction circles. It was the negative reviews that prompted me to read this book and for that I'm grateful.
The storyline was gripping and about as chilling as I can possibly stand. Many twists and surprises that I didn't see coming make the book quite a page-turner. I also like how the events in the book are as current as today's headlines. Even the history and military facts are accurate. (I looked them up because I was curious.) Only the names of certain people have been changed so as not to offend anyone. "Dead Heat" asks the question "Why isn't the United States mentioned in End Times prophecy?" That's been asked and researched for many years and Joel makes a quest into a possible answer. Not only is his answers possible but they are probable. I just hope I'm not here to find out. How do people live in this chaotic world and not have a relationship with Jesus Christ? I just couldn't imagine. I give the book 5 stars for it's life-changing message, 4 stars for the storyline and 3 for the writing. Buy some copies and spread them around. Both Christians and non-believers need the urgency of the message. Our time is shorter then we may think. 1 Star = Pathetic 2 Stars = Fair 3 Stars = Good 4 Stars = Excellent 5 Stars = Life changing (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-11-12 06:58:41 EST)

Excellent book. It is one of a four book series. Unfortunately, the publisher did not number them, so when I started reading the series I read them out of order. I definitely would recommend all of Joel Rosenberg's books.

If this series doesn't make you stop and think, then you're not living in the same world as me! Often, as I was reading this book in particular, I was unsure what were the daily headlines and what had I just read the night before in the book! I had been borrowing this series, but wanted a set for myself so I could loan them out to family and friends.

I bought this as an audio book and was completely misled as to the storyline.
After listening ENDLESSLY to Bible verse after Bible verse I have deleted the offending "novel" from my iPod and from my iTunes audiobook collection. If there was a plot in there somewhere I must have missed it. Perhaps Mr. Rosenberg should become a minister and stop writing "fiction." He seems to be quite adept at sermonizing. I haven't read Rosenberg's other books in this series, but this one is certainly enough to get his thrust. It is full of religious conversions to Jesus and has all the usual Israeli suspects - Iraq, Iran, and North Korea.
As far as prescience is concerned, he could pick up a lot of his ideas from old Tom Clancy novels. The book would be a lot better without the "Come to Jesus" theme, but, then again, that theme and scaring his readers with what the Arabs plan for Israel is what this book is about. This book was hard to put down and it kept me on the edge of my seat. As of today, (6/9/09), this is the latest in Joel Rosenberg's fiction series on the end times.
This story line takes place during a presidential election period in the United States and concerns an act of terrorism on the homeland. I hope this never comes true. He has a new non-fiction book out called Revolution. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-06-21 18:40:48 EST)

A must-read for everyone! The contents of this book are jam-packed with excitement, Christianity, reality and heart-wrenching sorrow. Two days after I read this book, North Korea threatened to attack the U.S. with nuclear weapons, and activity began around long-range missile silos in N.K. It is almost scary how Rosenberg predicts the future. This is definitely another perfectly-written book. I could not put it down. Right when you think you've got the plot figured out, it twists and changes completely. I don't know how Rosenberg can think up plots as exciting and realistic as those in this series. I am sorry that I finished his books so soon. I wish there were more. If you have not read Dead Heat, you are missing out. A true must-read for everybody!

So very typical of Rosenberg - good guys don't always make it in a harsh real world. He keeps the story running; easy to drop and return to without skipping a beat. I look forward to anything he publishes. Now reading Epicenter 2.

I started Joel's series because I'd read Epicenter. This entire series rocks with focus, twists and turns, and incredible insight ~ both real from study, and imaginative "what if" scenarios. No matter what your belief system is ~ consider keeping up with Joel.

Joel C. Rosenberg has outdone himself with Dead Heat, the final episode in his political thriller series. If you aren't up to speed yet with the rest of this series, you might want to catch up with my reviews of the first four books in the series:
The Last Jihad The Last Days The Ezekiel Option The Copper Scroll I found each of the five episodes very difficult to put down, but Dead Heat was virtually impossible to get away from. I found myself up late into the night, not wanting to set the story aside, until I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer. When the United States finds itself targeted by an unknown enemy, all hell literally breaks loose in this incredbile conclusion to the story that began with the nearly prophetic The Last Jihad. I can't think of much to say without spoiling the entire story, and this story is really one that deserves to be read by everyone. Whether you're a fan of Christian fiction, theology, thrillers, suspense, or political drama, Dead Heat (and all of it's predecessors) will certainly please you. If you really want to know more about this story -- if you really need more reason to read it -- then drop me an email and let me know, and I'll be happy to share more details of the story with you. Of course, you'll only be cheating yourself. This is absolutely the best novel I have read this year (sure, the years is still young, but I bet that statement will still be true six months from now). Do yourself a favor and order a copy today. Jeff Cole is an author, blogger, and podcaster. [...] (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-05-16 19:29:07 EST)

Like The Ezekiel Option this is a fast-paced, bone-chilling scenario that grabs the reader. But just as it gets exciting Joel reverts to preaching to the reader. I respect most of the teachings of the prophet Yeshua of Nazareth but I don't need to have him show up in every chapter. That was also my criticism of the Copper Scroll.
As the author of "Tehran Mission" I was able to draw on Joel's outstanding knowledge of militant Islam and encouraged to learn more for my upcoming sequel. Thanks for the inspiration Joel and keep those books coming. Covert christian rhetoric notwithstanding, I enjoyed the book and found it hard to put down. Sorry there will be no more in the series. DEAD HEAT finds our heroes Jon Bennet and Erin McCoy in Amman, Jordan doing international relief work. The world is engulfed in a rising tide of evil.
Israel is taking her place in the international community as God's timepiece for the last days. Reconstruction of the Third Temple is underway. Iraq is consolidating regional power. Oil is over $300 a barrel and the world economy is reeling. Joel Rosenberg has written a tour de force in this political series. This installment, #5 finishes the series with an erie finale, true to the prophetic word which birthed it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-05-09 19:25:31 EST)

This is Rosenberg's worst work. The incessant preaching and proselytizing negates any possible good read and any message Rosenberg may have. He will stop in the middle of his action and go on and on and on ad nauseum with the preaching. Many of His characters have become very improbable in this work, and while I could put up with some of the religious overtones in earlier works for a good read and its prophetic qualities, this was disgusting and I kept hoping it would get better. It is hard for me not to finish a book, but this one I was ready to throw out, and it was only perseverance that kept me going to the end. I will never pick up another Joel Rosenberg book again. He has certainly lost me as a fan.

This is a scary book about what could happen to our country and world in the last days. It will keep you on the edge of your chair and make you painfully aware of what could happen to us in the future days. Also makes you aware of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in these trying times.

I loved the premise and the way the book started. It became a little too fatalistic and either Joel decided to end the series, or change the star focus if he continues. It started off as a page turner and fizzled out in the end leaving things too open ended for me. I will recommend to anyone and do that they start from Joel's first book and read the whole series. They won't be disappointed.

"Dead Heat" is one of the most impacting thrillers that I have read. I could hardly put the book down, and read it within two days. Some of the events depicted were traumatic given the state of the world today, and the real possibility that a similar scenario could really play out soon. The enormity of the act of war is mind blowing. The fact that it could also be a scenario out of end-time Bible prophecy is also unnerving. It is also a warning for nations to heed, and for humanity's need for relationship with God in order to have hope for our eternal future. I highly recommend this book, not just for the literary accomplishment, but as a wake-up call for people to realize that there are people and governments that are evil and do mean to cause great harm.

Last night the series came to an end for me. I stayed up through midnight to finish book 5 of Joel Rosenberg's political thriller series. Dead Heat was better than I was expecting. I had gone to amazon and read all the horrible reviews. I enjoyed this book more than books 3 and 4.
Dead Heat is not a happy book. It is very dark. Just as a small spoiler, what happens in this story occurs directly before the Rapture. (Think Left Behind) Now, I'm not one to agree with that kind of theology but I do enjoy a decent political thriller and Dead Heat delivers. The scenes within the US government reads like a Tom Clancy novel. It's fast paced and exciting. Nevermind that the chapters are only 2-3 pages long - I was zipping through this thing. No one is safe when three nuclear missiles strike Washington DC, New York, California and Seattle. Someone wants to deliver a message to the world and they've pretty much decimated the symbolism of America. (Yes the nukes strike and at the first part of the book) How would America respond? Who is responsible? These are the thoughts that drive Rosenberg's finale. Outside of the quite long sections of religious banter, this novel is a decent "easy summer" read. Nothing too hard for the mind to comprehend. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-02-21 18:18:50 EST)

This 5th book of the 5 book series is a compelling and plausible rational as how and why America could be in a position where it COULD NOT help Israel.
As with all of the books in this series, Joel Rosenberg has hit another "Home Run" (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-02-12 19:32:59 EST)

Joel Rosenberg's writing style is unmatched! I am especially moved by his writing about current events in the middle east (and the world at large) from a Christian perspective, his "third lens of Scripture."

I enjoyed the end to this series; but as others have said you definitely need to have read other books in this series first otherwise you'll be lost.
The book is written well and its characters are well developed; and there really are no lulls like in some of his other books. I finished it in ~6 hours, its a fun read and definitely worth the buy. I took a look at the negative reviews of this book; and none of them really point out a real flaw with the content or makeup of the text, just problems individuals take with its underlying theme. As free advice; if you cannot look at a Christmas tree in a public place without being offended you probably won't like this book (but should read it anyway.) The final episode of the five book series does not disappoint! Again, the author gives the reader plenty to ponder without fear. I only wish I had discovered the series sooner. I think about the books almost daily as the headlines fit into the story lines, I think, well, no surprises in today's paper.

This author is just amazing. He has no problem killing off his own characters, so you don't know what is going to happen next. In fact, after a while, you develop this curiousity to keep reading just to find out what the next surprise will be. It's like M. Night Shamylan (spelling wrong I'm sure) in political and military fiction. I would say you'll be shocked by the end, but, by that time, you are so used to sudden changes that change your whole perspective that you no longer know what to expect. I read this book without reading the other books (and had no problem with it). Now, I want to go back and read the earlier stuff, even though I know SOME of the twists from those books, already.

This was the first book in a long time where I actually put off reading too fast it because I didn't want it to end. I loved this book from start to "finish". I say "finish" because I keep hearing that this is the last book in the series but I hope it isn't. Joel did leave the ending open in the spirit of `The Lady or the Tiger'. This book had the classic storytelling of Joel written all over it. The pace is non-stop, the destruction is great and brutal, the enemies are satanically evil, and the "point-of-no-return" world changing events are jaw dropping!
This was a magnificent "ending" to a MAGNIFICENT SERIES!! I was wary about reading it because I didn't want to be hit in the face with "Jesus said this" and "Jesus said that" but Joel didn't do that. Does this series have an obvious religious message? Absolutely. And I'm ok with that; I just don't like being preached at. In `The Ezekiel Option' we find out that God destroys Israel's enemies and thus starts the prophecy about the end of the world. `The Copper Scroll' continues this and in this book I was wondering how in the world he would write it and how it would "end". This was a very, very good read but as I got to the end I was wondering how it would wrap up. There was so much story left and I was running out of pages!! That is why I'm hoping that this is NOT the end of the series because...well... I don't want it to be! :-) I loved how Joel put pieces of the apocalypse in the story and you literally have to go back and re-read it because you're like "huh?, what?". It must have taken me as long to read the final few chapters as it did the whole book because of everything that was going on and because of the magnitude of everything going on. But Joel has a way of writing so that the story isn't crowded with all the action and angles. This book is very, very sad because some of my friends that have been with me since book #1 have some very bad things happen to them and people around them. Joel tells the story and does not spare anyone when the story called for it. This book is also pretty brutal and cut-throat. The violence is high but not gratuitous. The bloodshed is here but it's doesn't drive the story. This is Joel's fictional account of the last days based on teachings that have been around for over 2,000 years and it's equally fascinating and frightening. Religious or not this series needs to be on your list. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-02-12 19:32:59 EST)

I just finished reading "Dead Heat" today and short of saying "WOW" I am at something of a loss for words. I have followed Joel Rosenberg from "The Last Jihad" until now and I have enjoyed all of the books in the series, but "Dead Heat" blows them all away. Out of five stars, this one deserves a seven. I would place this book in the top two or three fiction books I have ever read and in the top 10 of all books I have read.
I will not give any of the story away for those who have yet to read it, but some of the plot twists in this book really shocked me and to be honest I didn't see them coming. This book was so good I hated to finish it and hate even more that it is the last in the series. In a word, WOW! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-02 08:30:25 EST)

Ok so let me start by saying that I picked up this book and didn't realize it was part of a series (my bad) and I didn't know it had heavy religious overtones (again, my bad)
When this book puts away the "you must accept Jesus Christ as your savior" rhetoric, it is very, very good. In fact after the first 10 chapters I looked it up to see if there were other novels in a series as some characters were obviously previously introduced. I wanted to put an order in for all the others in the Jihad series.. but then I read the rest of the book and realized I didn't need to order any more at all. There are seriously long stretches when it feels like you are in a church being preached to and other times like you are being actively converted. I once skipped 12 pages straight of "accept Jesus" talk (I skimmed it). Then I went back and read it because I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Nope. And it isn't just the religion that is oft-putting (even for a Christian) There are agonizingly improper and unfathomable personal relationships (one character seems to know every head of state/important person on the planet) and even more frustrating communicative issues all over the place. What I mean by that is this: You know when you see in a movie when someone dies and the cop or authority figure has to tell the kin that their loved one is dead and they start by saying "I hate to tell you this..." well, this author goes on and on and on ... it really turns into frustration and I cannot remember the last time I was frustrated reading a book (oh yea I remember, Lustbaders Bourne books) Anyway, how would you react if a cop came to your home and said "I hate to tell you this..." and you said "what?" and he said "well, um....." and you said "yes? tell me please..." and he said "well, um....." and ON and ON and ON for minutes (pages it seemed) and with more than one set of characters and multiple times. I can forgive all that, after all the story is GOOD and worth reading. In fact if someone could re-edit the book and take out much of the religious preaching it might have been one of my top 10. I guess maybe it's me, I do not like being preached to.. I can handle all the "prophecy" regardless if it has zero connection to facts (Yes, I know the bible well) but a thriller book (or series) shouldn't be a recruiting tool. I am not going to give any spoliers but just beware that if you are NOT a religious person this boook will definately put you off. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-02 08:30:25 EST)

Mr. Rosenberg is a fine fiction and non-fiction writer. He writes with full understanding of Ancient Prophecies (told by Ezekiel, Zechariah, Daniel, etc.).
With all of modern technologies flowing worldwide, we'd be lucky if this action-filled-page-turning fictional book is only just that. I highly recommend reading this book as well as recommending it to the silver screen. Bravo, Mr. Rosenberg! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-16 09:07:30 EST)

Listened to this book on CD and was completely captivated until the last chapter. Last chapter was lame, left more loose ends than necessary, and the bad guys got away. Even if there was a followon tribulation series, I wouldn't open the first page.

Another great book using religious texts to provide wonderful insight into what may be going on in the world. Many of the fictional events have become actual reality!

I actually bought this book for my wife as a gift. I have bought all of Joel C. Rosenberg's books as Christmas gits each year for my wife, but Dead Heat didn't come out until March of 2008. Joel Rosenberg is a master story teller. What makes his stories stand out even more is his overwhelming understanding of world events. As you read his books you wait with anticipation to see if what you just read appears in newspaper headlines and on the evening news tomorrow. I highly recommend all of Joel Rosenberg's books considering what is going on in the world today.

I have only myself to blame. Usually when I read an author for the first time I look at reader reviews, but for whatever reason, this time I did not. The end result is that I bought one of the least enjoyable books I have ever read. I found the writing style somewhat stilted, but I suppose that is a matter of taste. The real problem is that this is not so much of a story as a vehicle for proselytizing Evangelical Christianity. The ending (or really non-ending) is also absurd. The "good guys", i.e. those who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior, are suddenly zapped into heaven, leaving everything else unresolved.

Dead Heat (2008) is the fifth evangelical thriller in The Endtimes series, following The Copper Scroll. In the previous volume, Jon and Erin Bennett found the Temple treasures, including the Ark of the Covenant. The Israelis started construction of the new Temple. Indira Rajiv was given a new assignment: kill the President of the United States.
In this novel, Jon Bennettt has a very sick wife. Erin had been vomiting until she was having dry heaves. Then she collapsed and became nonresponsive. Now she is breathing shallowly and her pulse is weak. Jon holds her and calls for a doctor over and over again. Finally, he picks her up her limp body and takes her to the medical clinic. They have been working for seven months is a crowded, disease-infested refugee camp in northern Jordan, tending survivors of the War of Gog and Magog and the Day of Devastation. He has been unloading supplies and helping in the kitchens. She had been working in the kitchen and passing out toys to the children. They have been working twelve to fourteen hours every day. At the medical clinic, he burst in and asks for help, but the nurse doesn't speak English. He calls for help and an English speaking nurse comes. She has the others take Erin to the examining room. After hours of waiting, an English speaking doctor comes and tells him the bad news that Erin has a severe case of bacterial meningitis. The good news is that she is pregnant. While he is waiting, Jon receives a strange message on his phone. The caller asks if he is Jonathan Bennett and then says that something terrible is going to happen. The voice insists that he had nothing to do with it and cannot stop it. The voice says that much worse is coming and states that he will call back in twenty-four hours. Then the connection is dropped. Meanwhile, a Delta Force team has discovered evidence of a terrorist plot to assassinate the President of the United States. A warning is relayed to the Secret Service detail guarding the President. They hustle him into an emergency bunker in the basement of the arena where he was to speak. Minutes later, a guided missile drops on the site and a nuclear weapon destroys much of Los Angeles. Other missiles fall on Seattle, New York, and the District of Columbia. Another lands squarely on CIA headquarters in Langley. Four USA cities have been wiped from the map and none knows who has ordered the attack. In this story, Jon is contacted by the newly sworn President of the United States. He is asked to return to the States to work with the surviving members of the government. Jon agrees and arranges for an ambulance to take Erin and himself to Amman. Then the mysterious voice calls back and asks John and Erin to come to Bangkok. Of course, Jon refuses. On the way to Amman, the ambulance is ambushed and rams the railing by a steep slope. Then a concrete truck comes barreling into the ambulance. Jon goes out the shattered windshield before the truck hits, but the others are still inside the ambulance when it is pushed through the railing and falls down the slope. The concrete truck then falls directly onto the ambulance. Armed men take Jon and whisk him away. Jon barely notices them in his shock and sorrow. Erin is dead! How can he live without her? This tale is unlike the previous novels. The relevant text is mostly from the New Testament. The Day of Judgment has arrived. Followers of Christ will be lifted up and the unbelieving will be left behind for another thousand years. This concluding work in the Endtimes series is filled with action and meaning. It portrays a world with a reduced population who have stark reasons to believe in the scriptures. Some begin to pass on the Word to the uninformed. Recommended for Rosenberg fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of biblical prophecy, fanatical violence, and true love. -Bill Jordin (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-07 05:55:39 EST)

Don't get me wrong...I am a HUGE Joel Rosenberg fan, but I'm having a tough time with this book. The back cover is completely misleading regarding the plot and since he has the tendency to be right a lot, reading this current plot line gives me a disturbed feeling, which hinders my enjoyment of the book. Usually I can't put his books down, but I'm almost scared to pick this one up! It is intriging enough to make me want to finish; I just hope he's completely wrong about this at a future event.

It wasn't until I started reading Joel C. Rosenberg's books that I realized I had been using a cliché when I would say that "anything can happen" when describing the twists and turns a plot can take. That statement should be reserved almost exclusively for Rosenberg's novels, particularly DEAD HEAT, his latest work. I will tell you without reservation that anything can and does happen here, including a number of things for which I was/am nowhere near ready.
If you have not read the author's previous novels --- THE LAST JIHAD, THE LAST DAYS, THE EZEKIEL OPTION and THE COPPER SCROLL --- you may want to jump into those before picking up this current one. Though Rosenberg does a good job of providing background on the characters in DEAD HEAT (particularly Jon Bennett and Erin McCoy) with respect to what has gone before, knowledge of the backstory of this series will help newcomers more fully appreciate the current book. However, it's not necessary, especially when an all-too-imaginable yet unthinkable cataclysmic disaster befalls the United States within the first quarter of the novel. Bennett and McCoy, former presidential advisors doing missionary work in Jordan, are far removed from the disaster, yet are facing significant problems of their own. McCoy has suddenly fallen victim to a mystery illness, while Bennett has received an anonymous telephone call from someone who claims knowledge of what has befallen the U.S., as well as the ability to prevent more disaster from occurring. But there is a price, one that both Bennett and the President are reluctant to pay. The U.S. government, however, is on war footing, and while it races to determine the source of the calamity before further damage can be done, a second and most unexpected danger threatens from within. Rosenberg saves the most shocking event of all for the book's conclusion, as the United States, in the midst of a retaliatory strike, experiences an event unprecedented in world history. Rosenberg's novels have Biblical prophecies as their foundation and are set in what are generally known as the "end of days." There is no denying that he is a masterful storyteller, one for whom absolutely nothing is off the table. While some have found fault with the plot-driven elements of his work, Rosenberg's frenetic pacing elevates the events of his narrative to a fever pitch, even as he ratchets things up another notch or five. Full of surprises and shocks, DEAD HEAT is unforgettable and unstoppable. --- Reviewed by Joe Hartlaub (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-24 06:02:48 EST)

This book is fascinating. I didn't want to put it down. The book really makes you think about where your life is. I have been reading the Bible more often after reading this book. I can't wait to read the others.

This is an excellent book being well written and well thought out. Keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with every page turned. One finds the characters both real and endearing. Each draws one into their lives and the reader experiences the range of emotions along with the character in this high-energy packed thriller. More than just a good read, this book paints a chilling picture of what can all too easily occur within our great country and within our own lifetime. Having studied in depth world events and trends this reader can see all the needed alliances and current events coming together to create just such a time as what we find between the covers of this fictional, yet all too true to life book. The world is quickly spinning toward such horrific scenerios. It used to be that major world powers were held incheck by the threat of annialation from the other if they were to strike- each knew the risks to their own nation. We benefited from a type of nuclear stability that has existed for the last 50 years due to three basic suppositions: there were only 2 major players in the game, both players were in balance, and both were Rational. Now, with the emergence of rogue nations and terrorists aquiring WMD's, all bets are off. And, if during this race to become nuclear, what actual use of WMD would not escalate? The list grows of nations that would use such to their own benefit as our current adversaries are not being motivated by traditional, rational best interests, but by devout religious beliefs- how do you win or even avoid a race with someone who believes he wins the entire game if he loses? Tho this author is Not a prophet, as one who has intensely studied both world events and world religion, it is this reader's strong belief God has used this author as a warning for all to heed- be they secular or religious in their personal beliefs. Based on what has come to pass with the other books in the series,as well as Most Biblical prophecies being fulfilled during the last 50 years, this reader believes the books to be a firm warning of what is near and perhaps on our very horizon.

This book certainly had a slam-bang beginning. I wasn't prepared, however for the Biblical aspect of the book and the preaching that took up whole pages of the text. I am not looking for a thriller that asks me to accept Jesus as my savior in every chapter. The author is a good writer, but the plot got so outlandish that I ended up being very disappointed. I paid money to get a sermon I could have gotten for free from a door- to -door Christian mission worker.
