Cracking the SAT Spanish Subject Test, 2007-2008 Edition (College Test Prep)

The Princeton Review realizes that acing the SAT Spanish Subject Test is very different from earning straight A’s in school. We don’t try to teach you everything there is to know about Spanish–only the techniques and information you’ll need to maximize your score. In Cracking the SAT Spanish Subject Test, we’ll teach you how to think like the test writers and

·Master test taking strategies that will improve your score
·Review key vocabulary, grammar and reading comprehension concepts
·Use proven techniques to solve complicated questions

The 2007-2008 edition of Cracking the SAT Spanish Subject Test is revised and updated to include the most current information possible.

I was asked to look over this book and review it for a friend who was going to take the exam, and I can truly say that The Princeton Review has done it again! I did not find any errors in the book (I did find many errors in How to Prepare for the SAT II Spanish with Compact Disc (Barron's How to Prepare for the Sat II Spanish), though!).

This book does what Princeton review does best, put everything in a concise manner that is easy to read and easy to review. The best feature of the book is the presence of many practice tests, and thorough answer guides to them.

However, on a side note, I don't think this book will be great for those who are struggling with Spanish. For the general topics covered on the exam, this book should be used more as a review guide and not as a replacement to a general Spanish course. The information given is very much so "surface-level" interpretation and for a more thorough review, you need to study with a native speaker.

For those who need a quick review, this book is great. For those who need more work, it may only help to take the practice tests to rate your current proficiency.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone taking the SATII or AP Spanish. I reviewed from it two nights before the SAT and felt very calm and collected during the exam, especially because of the practice tests (which were pretty much right on par).

For native speakers this is probably too basic, but for those who have taken Spanish and want to review just what you need to know for a standardized Spanish exam, this is perfect. I wish I had bought it before the AP!
