All the info you could use to date a firearm and find its value is in this book. It was also a quality used copy and delivered on time. A great book for collectors and traders.

If you own guns, then this is the only book, you will ever need. I update my edition about every 5 years or so.

Very good information on the prices for all firearms. For anyone buying or selling firearms,It is must have book. Some folks don't really know how much their firearms are worth and others are out of their minds, think they have a diamond, when they really have is a rock.

I bought this book for my husband and he enjoys this book quite a bit. He loves to take it to work and show it off. He has been looking up other people's gun values and he keeps his nose in it. I would recommend this book for someone who enjoys having knowledge at your finger tips.

The "Blue Book" is the standard for firearms pricing because it's all inclusive. It explains condition, rarity as well as pricing. It's really the only thing you need to value almost any firearm.

Very good reference book. BUT Does not have every gun/rifle MFG. I collect Marlins and many are not listed!!!

The book will give the most up to date values on almost any firearm you can think of. The values it gives are the most accurate you will find with the exception of the occational jump in value that takes place when a firearm becomes even more wanted.

The Blue Book is an invaluable tool and guide and a great help in determining approximate values of the various firearms you may possess or are interested in. The value of guns increase every year, so it probably should be purchased every so often.

Excellent reference book! This is the third edition I have purchased and have been pleased with each update. I really appreciate the way they keep track of firearms as manufacturing companies or ownership change. The book also covers details that effect the value of the firearm, including condition (photo examples and descriptions), special features, limited production runs, etc. I'm sure this will vary from insurance company to insurance company, but my company accepts the values I have reported on my collection based on this book.

I found the Blue Book of Gun Values to be a true value for any collector of guns. It is easy to use and I think it is the best in it's category. A great source for anyone contemplating a gun purchase or sale.

This has always been the best book on gun values and information. Every gun is there even the old and very limited production ones.
If you have any interest in guns this is well worth the price.

I purchased this for figuring insurance amounts. While it is full of modern firearms, it is lacking in military surplus firearms. Good for half of my collection anyways.

I bought this book so that we could estimate the value of our collection for insurance purposes.

I was really surprised at how poorly it was laid out. Simple things, like alphabetization, are not what I would expect in a standard reference book. For example, did you know that 'CZ' comes before 'CA'? Neither did I. In this book, names with abbreviations go first even when they spell out to a different order or if they don't stand for anything at all.

Also, and the main reason for the 3 star rating, is that we had a lot of trouble determing the value of some of our older, military guns. For example, a 1943 Czech Mauser imported through International Arms. There is no listing for International Arms as the importer and, while there is a whole section on Mausers, that we used for other Mausers, Czech ones are listed under the CZ section. I think we finally found the right entry, but I'm not positive about it.

Overall, we probably found the entry we were looking for quickly and easily in about 75% of the cases. The other 25% were a challenge and we're not entirely sure we found the right value.

Ultimately, this is what the professionals use. If you want or need the same reference that they are using, this is the book to get. Just be warned that it isn't the most straightforward of reference books. If you are just a curious, casual user they may be better choices out there.

The BLUE BOOK OF GUN VALUES is THE SOURCE for pricing on firearms. The info included is a must for buyers, sellers, and collectors of firearms. Prices are included for individual firearms and their percentage of original, new condition, i.e 100% through 60%. The only improvement I can suggest is adding photos of the firearms in the listings for quick identification of the firearm being researched. Overall this is an invaluable book for the firearm enthusiast to own! I always reference it now before buying, selling, or trading any firearms.

There is background information on the manufacturers, historical references, grading guides, and a very well constructed set of tables for each gun listed showing current values. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in determining the value of their guns.

This is THE guide to have. It is very useful in showing the trend your gun may be making as time goes by. You need to know the specifics of the gun, and this is reasonably descriptive. Not always easy to find your specific model as it may be listed in other areas than you would suspect, but not difficult either. It is good at giving "ballpark" prices to expect, but as always you can't count on getting that price. You may see a great variance due to demand, or condition(many think their gun is in better shape than the buyer does--a gun in "as new" shape may be booked at say 550 bucks, but yours has lost a lot of bluing, and the stock is flawed a bit from rubbing shrubs and such, so it may be woth only 325. you need to be honest with yourself on the condition.). Also a particular gun may be in much more demand in certain geographic areas, as opposed to others.
Emotions will affect price also "I had one of those years ago" or "My dad/granddad used to have one of those". Thoughts like these may inflate the buying price greatly.
But, I get off topic. This is a good guide, and for the average gun it reflects the market quite well. Any collector, gun show enthusiast, or a person just wondering what is what would do well to buy this. It is a guide, not a Bible. Dan Wickham

Yeah, great book. It does exactly what its supposed to do. I guess I could sex it up a little with some exclamation points or something, but really, why?

Item arrived promptly and in good condition. Item was in the upper end of the used condition range described in the ad. I couldn't be more pleased.

This has really been helpful in looking at guns. Lots of information and what guns are worth. If you like guns it will be hard to put it down when you start looking at it.

This book is IMO the best reference for finding out what a gun is worth. Normally, you can assume that most dealers would add $100 dollars to these prices, just for gouging puposes. The prices in this book are what the guns are really worth. Don't get ripped off by gun sellers, buy this book and save yourself way more than you will pay for it, on the first gun! Knowledge is Power!!!

By the way, I originally tried to buy this book used from another seller on Amazon and a month after I ordered they told me they didn't have any more. I had to contact them, they didn't even bother letting me know. The seller even had good feedback, so feedback sometimes doesn't mean squat! However, I ordered this book new from Amazon and it got here reasonably fast for ground shipping and I am very pleased with the service I got from them (actual communication, what a concept!!). I recommend buying from Amazon because you may end up not getting it and wasting a month worth of time if you try someone else. Buy it, you will be armed with knowledge, no pun intended.

The book seems to have most every kind of gun available, but I found it a little difficult to determine the % condition of my firearms by simply looking at the sample pictures they provide.

Also, the prices shown seem to be a little on the high side for the guns I looked at.

I found this same book in a well known book store that showed more wear than this one. This book was truly in perfect condition and I bought it as used and saved over twenty dollars. I have bought used books several times from Amazon and I have yet to be unhappy with the purchase.

Very informative and quite accurate from a price evaluation standpoint.

One problem I have with the book is that the Winchester Model 70 pricing of the rarer calibers is eliminated because they "are rarely seen or sold". I think this is an easy way out of doing some serious research as these guns are also sold on a regular basis.

I've been in the gun business for years as a private buyer/seller/trader and user of firearms. This book is to firearms like the "yellow NADA book" is to cars. The "Blue Book" has 98% of all gun manufacturers, even going back prior to the civil war.
This book has VERY ACCURATE descriptions of the guns and the most trusted pricing range of values that can be obtained. The book gives a detailed pricing/grading scale of which is so very important to have any accuracy. There are other books that help with huge lists of pictures.
Remember one thing: This book is just a guide to help you start the pricing and identifying process. Always consult a professional when possible.

The Blue Book of Gun Values is a very detailed reference of values of almost any gun ever made. I had no problem locating mine and getting real world values for them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with firearms to sell before offering them for sale. You may be surprised the worth of your collection.

I have been using The Blue Book of Gun Values as a reference for many years and have been thru at least five editions. The format is generally the same each time and a good one. I use it to find out about guns that I run across at gun shows and in local gun stores. It not not only gives you the value of the firearm but a good bit of it's history. Over the years, each edition is bigger as more arms are added and more information. I find it interesting as well to watch how the value of a firearm goes up. U.S. Winchesters, for example, took a good jump; Colt's, too. The only fault I might find is that it can be tricky finding an individual model in some of the more prolific manufacturers sections as there are so many. Other than that, it's the "go to" reference for most serious and amateur collectors and sellers.

My brother and father decided to sell several of their guns. This book gave an excellant estimation of their value. A couple were real suprises. We found that this book was the main reference of a couple of used gun dealers too. This book saved us from a coupld of expesive errors and paid for itself several times over.

This book is the standard of industry for the Value of Guns. A must if you plan to buy, sell or collect guns. I buy a new one every few years.

This blue book is packed with information not found in other gun value books. For the professional this may well be all that's needed, but for a novice it's extremely difficult to figure out which model is which in many instances, and the lack of photo's makes the identification process next to impossilbe.

Just after purchase thinking that Amazon had the best prices in town. I found the same book from another source for $25.00 delivered !! Oh well you live and learn.

I use this book for reference to find gun values and information on makes and models. This one was not packaged properly and the front cover and first dozen pages were damaged in shipment. Wish you had been more careful in your packaging!!!!!!!

Was able to find just about everything I wanted to look up. Loads of info and pictures!

For good or for bad "The Blue Book of Gun Values" still is and will continue to be the bible in the used gun business. They do their best to take as much of the subjectivity as they can out of the grading process, but one person's 98% may still be anothers 90%. Small differences in percentage can mean a big difference in values.

That said it is still "THE" book most used in the business. The reader also needs to be cautioned that prices listed are RETAIL prices and not what you can expect to get from a dealer if you are selling a used firearm. Also understand that while this may be a "National" standard, real values can be dramaticly different for the same gun from one part of the country to the next. Sometimes as little as 50 miles can make a significant difference.

Overall it is a great book with tons of useful information. A must for every gun collector and dealer. Just take the prices with a grain of salt.

Good basic source of gun values used by dealers and collectors. I question the sources because there is no reporting of sales, most are between individuals.
