The "2009 Standard catalog of Firearms" is the best source I have used to identify and value older firearms.

This book is comprehensive only in including manufacturers and models and is heavily illustrated (but in black and white) but is not for the serious gun aficionado as usually the entries do not include the capacity and weight and never include the production run and the year of introduction is included only occasionally. It is highly overrated.

Due to how this transaction was handled, I will not be purchasing from you again. I will also recommend to my friends not to use this web site.

Several of the guns I have were not listed in this book. Several were. Was hoping for better results.

Great book with the most up to date price referencing I've experienced. Lacking when it comes to specialty and fine collectibles. Works great in conjunction with other reference books..... Keep in mind as soon as something is published it is obsolete!!

This book is very good reference guide to find starting point for possible value of firearms. It gives you a good place to get ideal of where to start finding value of many firearms.

Good detail and lots of photos, although could give more info on serial #'s as related to year of manufacture. I recommend this guide as good buyer and seller tool.

This is one of the best books out there and it comes with a DVD also,now I can have this info at work and at home.

No book on gun prices is going to cover everything. This book does a good job of covering most, but not all. Some guns are not there and few point you to more thurough books, like the part on the 45 ACP refers you to a book from the same author on military guns. For the price, and comes with a PDF file on CD,it is a good value.

This is an invaluable reference for the collector, buyer or seller of firearms (exluding military firearms). It goes into great detail describing models, engraving patterns for many firearms.

I use this catalogue, a new one every year, as a way to stay up to date when I need to determine price and value of firearms in my every day business. It is an indespensable, tool that is quick and easy to use and understand. The discriptions and pictures of the items described are crisp and clear and very accurate.

One of the best Gun Price books on the market. The CD is a bonus and good to take with you if you travel. Searchable as well.

I am not sure whether or not I not being a dealer should write this review but for what I wanted it was great. I have quite a few weapons and was interested in the values. The book is well done, easy to use and the pictures are also very good and a help. I have checked some of the prices via the net and found the pricing was right on.

THE BOOK THAT I HAD PURCHASED WAS OUTSTANDING WITH A LOT OF INFORMATION. IT ALSO GIVES A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE GUNS AND RIFLES, WHICH WAS VERY HELPFUL. I HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS BOOK FROM A FRIEND OF MINE AND WAS SURPRISED ABOUT ALL THE OUTSTANDING INFORMATION, PICTURES THAT THIS BOOK CONTAINED. THE AUTHOR DID A GREAT JOB OF PUTTING THIS BOOK TOGETHER. I WILL PURCHASE THE NEXT VOLUME WHEN IT COMES OUT.

This is my second Standard catalog of Firearms (2007 & 2009). Along with the Blue Book on firearms this makes a very good reference as to what the value of about any firearm made is worth. A few are not included in the book, but most are, along with pictures. I only buy one every two years because I buy a Blue Book in even years and the Standard Catalog in odd years. This lets me keep up with the value of most firearms all the time.

The 2009 Standard Catalog of Firearms is about the most complete, single source of firearm descriptions and pricing obtainable. As in any single source, there will always be an exception or a minor detail that isn't covered, but in most cases, this book does it all. The pictures are critical for matching values with the firearm and they are well done. This book is well worth the money.

This book does give not only values but some history of the item. This helps when determining the actual value by area of country. The book still is only a guide. The guns are only worth what someone is willing to pay.
The only thing I would do to change the content would be to expound on the condition of the guns and how that affects value. In other words, was the gun orig. or has it been refinished, by whom and are all parts original..

I work within a police department and I am not that familiar with firearms. With the amount of firearms that pass through my hands everyday I find it very helpful!

My husband keeps this book beside him in his recliner for quick reference whne one of his gun trading buddies calls for information. It really is a good investment for someone that loves guns as much as my husband- a great gift idea.
