A summary of simple and easy steps to boost your productivity in a slim, easily read book that's suitable for even the most time pressured of people. With plenty of tips and ideas that you can dip in and out of when you need it, to help deal with the habit of putting things off. It's on my recommended reading list for clients and is a great addition to any busy person's bookshelf.
You can't even make the excuse that you don't have time to read it, each chapter is only a few pages long with a handy summary/action section after each one. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-11 04:25:38 EST)

I wanted very much to like this book.
Normally I will read an excellent book cover to cover only taking time off to eat, sleep, and go to work. A good book I will typically read a chapter a day, every day. Although this book has some decent advice, it is a very dry read. I have had for over a month now and am only a third through it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-02 10:30:28 EST)

I purchased the audio version of this book and listen to it over and over. Brian has a very positive and soothing voice and gets right to the point. No fluff. If you want fluff and lots of complicated language, check out Getting Things Done by David Allen. I started in on Allen's book and put it down after a few pages because Eat That Frog is so much simpler and concise. I like to play Eat that Frog and The Ultimate Goals Program over and over again in my car.

I couldn't think of a more apt title for this book. We all know that procrastination is what holds us back from being successful. Sadly it's often the hardest most disagreeable tasks that get the best results. This book is not reinventing the wheel but a quick read that teaches you simple principles that make all the difference. The main idea being if you tackle your worst job first the rest of the day should be relatively painless.
Sure the print is large and the book is thin but how much do you need to read to realize you've got to get out there and do your work? It's common sense. I liked the book it was just what I needed when my motivation was flagging. I figure the cost is worth what you get back and it wouldn't hurt anyone to read it once a year to stay on track. I actually also have the audio book and it fills a long drive nicely. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-30 10:57:10 EST)

This book is not in-depth and does not waste time on figuring out all the psychological reasons why people don't get done what they want to get done...and that's what's so great about it! I read a little bit of this book everyday and it motivated me to stop wasting my time so much. If you want some quick tips and simple methods to help manage your time then this is the right book for you!

I purchased, I read, I studied, I applied the information. Therefore, I did as directed, I did Eat that Frog! In fact I have ate several frogs now - and I ate the ugly one first. This book is an easy read, and is applicable in my life at work, home, school, business, church, etc, Eat That Frog is just a way of saying - Get'er done! Reasonable price, quick shipment, and I continue to be satisfied with every purchase made through Amazon.com

I've read a few reviews here that claim that Brian Tracy's "Eat That Frog" is useless and devoid of content. Well, I couldn't disagree more! I would like to meet Mr. Tracy and shake his hand; for his book has turned my life around! Recently, I have indeed actually doubled my income and I've learned to speak Lithuanian, which has been a goal of mine for 7 years. He does not go into lengthy discourses into the psychology of procrastination because that is exactly what a procrastinator does NOT need. As a hard-core procrastinator (it almost landed me in jail...yes...I was that bad) it was refreshing to hear someone say, "Hey! Just get on with it! You CAN do it!" Give this book an honest shot. Just start eating your frogs, one at a time, beginning with the biggest and ugliest one and I can tell you from experience that you will gain a great feeling of well-being and self confidence. And, most of all, you'll forget what being a procrastinator is like. Think about it too much, and you'll fall into the negative spiral that we all know too well. But, take action and you'll move into a new stage of life...the one you've been waiting for (the wait is over!...why were you waiting anyway?)

Good quick read!
In essence, this is yet another book to stop procastinating and start doing. I like the style in which it is narrated, interesting. There is nothing very new I found that I did not find in other similar books. What I however liked is the tittle and relating some content to the title. A quick read. Borrow this book if you can. I would not recommend a buy! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-16 12:55:55 EST)

I picked up "Eat that Frog!" on a whim, thinking it would be a fair addition to my motivational book library. I was surprised to find that, although a quick and easy-to-digest read, it contained more information and direction than many other books on the same topic. I found myself taking a few notes and instantly incorporating the practices it outlines into my daily routine, upping my effectiveness and giving me a much needed push! If you're in need of some anti-procrastination direction, "Eat that Frog!" is the first (and maybe only) place to begin!

At the start of this book Tracy says that he will not go into the psychological or emotional aspects of procrastination, yet that is exactly what procrastinators need. If you don't know why you do things, how can you change? I know all about goal setting, prioritizing tasks, doing the most difficult task first -- that's not the problem. I know what to do, but still can't get over the mental block. This book says, Just Do It, and you'll feel better, and want to do more! This is useless advice. If I could just do it, I wouldn't need a book.
Unless you're completely in the dark about goal setting and time management, avoid this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-05-29 10:53:43 EST)

Brian Tracy is an exceptional author. After reading Eat That Frog, I became so motivated, I finished an important project that I had procrastinated on for over 10 years! I finished and published Lose the Lies Lose the Weight! Brian Tracy's book Eat That Frog is an easy read, while being extremely motivating. If you have a lazy and/or procrastinating streak, read this book!

A brief, but very helpful work to help you help yourself. As with most (dare I say, all) self-motivational books, the ideas presented by Brian Tracy are not new, nor overly earth shattering, but they serve as great reminders and examples for how to get your life, and career back on track.
The core analogy of the book is that the frog represents your biggest, most dreaded piece of work. Which incidentally, also often happens to be the most valuable piece of work - work that cannot be done by someone else - for any given day or project. Hence, by relentlessly focusing on 'eating the frog', you'll advance your career, and personal lives at a much quicker pace. But how do you get there? That's what the remainder of the book is all about - great read. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-28 10:20:52 EST)

In this book, Brian Tracy takes valuable time management skills from several well-known sources and condenses into a short and easy read. Tasks are easy to work through, and if you follow the plan, you can get yourself on the road to organization and more stream-lined productivity in no time. This was so easy to follow that my whole family is now working through the book together, and it's making a big difference for all of us. Identifying what's most important, setting goals, etc. takes time, so don't get discouraged -- stick to it! This is an easy and fun way to better time management! Thanks Brian!

This book was recommended to me by a collegue. I can't believe how obvious some of these principles are, and yet...I had never heard such good suggestions before.
This is a perfect book for anyone who wants to be more productive, for an admitted procrastinator, for someone who feels swamped, or for anyone who just wants to tighten up time managment skills. It was a quick, easy read and entertaining, too. I wish I had this information 20 years ago! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-03-06 10:40:36 EST)

I've read about and taught time managemtn for over 20 years. The book reminds me strongly of Edwin Bliss's "Getting Things Done". The chapters are consice and informative, but there really isn't anything new here. If you are looking for a book to help the disorganized, this will certainly help. However, if you are at all read in this field, you will find it a disappointment.

Heard the CD version of EAT THAT FROG!, written and read
by Brian Tracy . . . he's a well-respected author on such subjects as personal and business success . . . and since I've benefited from his teachings in the past, I looked forward to this program--in large part because of its catchy title . . . I also liked the premise of the subtitle; i.e., that I'd learn 21 GREAT WAYS TO STOP PROCRASTINATING AND GET MORE DONE IN LESS TIME. So you're probably wondering like I was: What's the deal behind eating a frog? (And why would anybody want to do that?) . . . Tracy explanation makes a lot of sense . . . he contends that if you eat a live frog the first thing in the morning, you can go through the rest of your day with the satisfaction that the frog is the very worst thing that's going to happen to you. Much of the advice that follows has similar thinking . . . if you want to deal with procrastination, just do the most important thing first . . . you need to resist the temptation to do other tasks, even though they may be more fun to complete . . . or you can complete them in a relatively quick fashion. I've heard much of what Tracy had to say, yet I kept thinking to myself that even though that was the case, I needed as much reinforcement as I could get . . . for example, he pointed out * You need to do something every day to move you toward your goal. * Every minute on planning saves as many as 20 minutes in execution. * To develop your career, continually ask: What's the one skill, if learned, would have the greatest positive impact on my career? * There's never enough time to do everything, but there's always enough time to do the most important thing. * Here's the core question of time management: What's the best use of my time right now? * Imagine yourself as having only one day before you go on vacation. * Don't worry about changing your whole life; say, instead, "just for today." EAT THAT FROG! might not get you to stop procrastinating forever . . . it will, however, help you get started . . . or as Tracy points out, if that's your problem, just say to yourself, "Do it now" . . . getting this program would be an excellent first step! You know...the book has a shocking title...I'll give it that. But once you learn the reason why he says to eat the frog you take that one paragraph and keep it in mind and then you just don't care much about the rest of the book. I think the book should have been more of an inspirational quote. I'd get this one on loan out from the library. You won't even have to leave the building...just read the first couple of pages and you're good to go.

I learned of this book from a friend who has the older version of it. I glanced through her copy and noticed her notes. She said you have got to get this, it will organize your life. I purchased the 2nd edition version, read the book through, then reread it marking the tasks that I feel will help me find the missing hours in a day, so things get accomplished, instead of brushed under the rug. Sometimes it just seems to be amazing that it is end of the day, the week or even the month and it seems that nothing or not a whole lot seemed to be accomplished. I work in Direct Sales so it helps there also. It help me find the time to take care of the household, spend time with each family member and take care of their needs, and still be able to spend time with clients to be able to service them better allowing them to pass recommendations of me around. I also picked up his book Goals!, keeping them both close at hand so I can glance through and get that boost of energy again, with the "Yes I Can" attitude. "Eat That Frog", will get you out of procrastinating and working with goals, while "Goals!", will get you into setting goals, keeping them and accomplishing them, it is such a win-win!

Do you procrastinate on important tasks? Do you wait until the last minute to do the most important of things both personally and on your job? If you are like 90% of all people, you have become prey to the monster of procrastination. Procrastination has nothing to do with laziness or lack of ambition, but has everything to do with the "fear of overwhelm". As humans, we can all become victims of overwhelm, but at last there is a solution. The absolute best book on "procrastination busting" I have ever read is Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time by Brian Tracy. After reading and following the advice Mr. Tracy lays out in this remarkable book, you will have conquered procrastination forever! Yes, I said--forever!! Remember, unless you conquer procrastination you CANNOT succeed at anything. Buy this book, and say goodbye to procrastination for good.
Other great titles by Brian Tracy are: Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed The Ultimate Goals Program: How To Get Everything You Want Faster Than You Thought Possible Focal Point: A Proven System to Simplify Your Life, Double Your Productivity, and Achieve All Your Goals Thank you, Mr. Tracy for helping us to rid ourselves of the demon of procrastination for good! I think of all of Brian Tracy's books-- this is my favorite.
I teach "day management" over time management. So our opinions differ a bit on this. Brian has you prioritize the things you must do each day-- eating the biggest ugliest frog first. This is two fold. It eliminates procrastination and dread. I tell clients to do the thing they dread the most first. Why spend the day dreading that awful phone call? Anxiety builds and so does the discomfort. We are saying the same thing different ways. Where we differ is that because I teach sales and self promotion-- you can find any frog uglier than your marketing responsibilities. My clients create their marketing plan, with daily action items they commit to doing-- no matter the number of frogs out there. The energy over the visual of eating a frog is so emotional, it sticks. That is what makes this such a great book. I use the language with my clients, and I'll often hail an accomplishment accredited to "I just sat down and ate the frog". This book will change your attitude on procrastination. I didn't believe it, because although most people tell me I do more than anyone they know-- I can dig my heels in as stubbornly as another. But when I feel that wave coming on-- I just "eat the frog". (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-14 09:31:43 EST)

Time is precious, it cannot be given back. What you do with your time is your business but make sure you don't waste it. Get a life, set goals, and do something every day to make your dreams a reality. Brian shows many ways to get the job done. Pick one, pick all, pick the one that works for you. I like the one on creative procrastination in which I choose not to do the unimportant tasks and just take the time to work on the necessary, important tasks. It gives me more time to do other things with freedom. Enjoy this slim but meaty read.

This small book reads like a "best of" summary of personal development strategies. Brian Tracey captures a ton of excellent techniques and ideas and cuts through the fluff to present actual ideas that you can apply (how to set goals, 80/20 rule, prioritizing, identifying and focusing on your key career strengths, etc.). I thoroughly enjoyed it and will keep it as a reference to refer to again and again.

Brian Tracy seems to make a fine living reading all the self-motivation books out there and summarizing their contents in his own books. And hurrah for him!
There's nothing new in this book on overcoming procrastination - and that's fine with me, because Tracy has taken the advice of dozens of others authors and consolidated it here. It's really a fun book, really well suited for those moments when you are totally confused about what to do next and wondering how you got there in the first place. In some ways, I wish Tracy had cut out the "in-between" words, just kept the "meat" and published the book in a smaller, pocketable version. Even so, the "frog" book is a nice way to remind yourself to keep your eye on the target and not let all the swirling "other" things cloud your vision. I always feel like there is so much to do and not enough time but this book helped me realize that I should do the most important thing first. That was the total opposite to my practise. I would try to get the small stuff out of the way and all the big stuff would keep adding up.
Great book, quick read and very practical. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-03 10:05:25 EST)
