Blue Bloods 3: Revelations

Have you ever wondered what secrets lurk behind the closed doors of New York City's wealthiest families? They're powerful, they're famous... they're undead.

Schuyler Van Alen's blood legacy has just been called into question--is the young vampire in fact a Blue Blood, or is it the sinister Silver Blood that runs through her veins? As controversy swirls, Schuyler is left stranded in the Force household, trapped under the same roof as her cunning nemesis, Mimi Force, and her forbidden crush, Jack Force.

When one of the Gates of Hell is breached by Silver Bloods in Rio de Janeiro, however, the Blue Bloods will need Schuyler on their side. The stakes are high; the battle is bloody; and through it all, Carnavale rages on. And in the end, one vampire's secret identity will be exposed in a revelation that shocks everyone.

Though this isn't my favorite out of the three, it is still a good read. It also set up a lot interesting things for the 4th book and also made me very happy in parts and want to cry during others. There are alot of shockers.

Revelations didn't live up to what I thought it was going - and the possibilities are endless for these characters. Schulyer still has feelings for Jack and vice versa - much to the dismay of his "twin" Mimi -who is in a rush to speed up her bonding ceremony (aka wedding to red bloods) with Jack to force Schuyler out of the picture for good. That part of the book I liked. I was confused about other happenings with the Silver Bloods and the ending confused me as well. I'll read the next book just to find out what happens since I've already read the first 3 but this isn't a series that lives up to it's hype in my opinion.

I liked the book, but i didnt like it better than Masquerade. I don't know i expected things to move at a much faster pace, it feels like nothing much happened in this one.
i cant say more without posting a spoilert and i don't like posting spoilers. so you'll have to read and make a choice for yourself.
I love this series and will wait for teh next one to determine if i keep on reading the series or not.
but i do love Sky and Oliver and i would hate to not read about them anymore.
But Yeah Masquerade is much better.

Review may have some spoilage:
This series has a lot going for it, an interesting take on Vampires/Angel, immortals who can die but are reborn thru reincarnation. The previous two books were excellent, and this one has its moments, but just sort of seems to talk around the issues, rather than meet them head on. The last little bit of the book is really good but it is way to short: the battle scenes at the party and at the Redeemer, as well as the 'make up hook-up' between the twins at the end. It has fewer of those breezy Gossip Girl moments that brought a lot of the humor to the previous books in the series, but really misses some chances to replace it with some real emotional connection. This is probably a 3 1/2 more than a 4, but benefit of the doubt and encourage others to pick up on this series, so we can hopefully get some more/longer additions to the series.

**SPOILERS**

Don't say I didn't warn you!!

I absolutely LOVE Melissa de la Cruz and the Blue Bloods Series. I discovered her books after I finished reading the Twilight series and wanted to read more vampire novels (what can I say I get hooked on "themes"). Anyways I completely fell in love with the series. I loved that Melissa continued with her ideas of travelling to exotic and beautiful places...I mean come on, Brazil!!!...OMG...and then everything that happened there!!! I just knew it was coming but I didn't want to admit it to myself.
But I do have some suspicions...as to why Jack didn't go to Brazil with Mimi...it seems like he might have known what would happen. And if something did happen to her, then there wouldn't be anyone to stop Jack and Schuyler from being together!!!...HMMM. Obviously, if he would've known that Schuyler was planning on going, then I know he would have gone also.
This book is a HUGE Cliffhanger...I think even more so than the first or second book. I felt like I had more questions than answers at the end of this book...not that that's a bad thing because there are more books coming. And I'm glad that Melissa de la Cruz isn't afraid to kill off some characters in her books. I mean, yea it's sad (because it feels like someone you know died!) but that takes guts, because life isn't perfect and the books reflect that struggle.
Major kudos and props to Melissa for another amazing book! Thanks for my new addiction.
I'm just going to be DYING for the next book to come out...but you know, no biggie. :D

(Hide Review...)  Still a gripping read, though not as well-written as Masquerade
Reviewer Permalink
I am an adult who loves the Blue Bloods series, and after reading this, I still like Masquerade the best. In Blue Bloods 3:Revelations, a lot happens, with many plot twists [some predictable, and some not], but it does feel like it's all been crammed into the novel. After finishing the book, I felt the author could have expanded on some of the plot points and not rushed through the story-telling, even if it meant a longer book.

Well, the story here basically takes off where Masquerade ended - Schuyler Van Alen, Mimi, and Jack Force are still embroiled in a love triangle, with Schuyler torn by guilt over making her conduit,Oliver, her human familiar. Then there's Bliss Llewellyn, model and Schuyler's ally and best friend, who has frequent visions that are not only disturbing, but downright horrifying, and foreshadow trouble ahead. Dylan, the boy who was attacked by Silver Bloods in the previous book, is acting all weird, and Bliss is confused as to what she actually feels for him - love or friendship or mere concern? Then there is the mysterious, dangerous events unfolding in Corcovado, Brazil, and Schuyler's grandfather Lawrence, the current Regis [he took over from Charles Force at the end of book 2] goes off to Brazil to sort out the mess.

There are plenty of interesting plot twists to keep fans of the series happy, though I for one felt more elaboration could have made the book much better. Also, there was a certain inevitability in one of the romantic pairings that just didn't sit right with me.

Of course, as is typical with all the Blue Bloods books, there is lots of homage to the fashion world,over-affectations and ostentatious displays of wealth [frankly these elements do not draw me to the series, but more of the vampire drama itself].

All in all, Masquerade remains my favorite of the series, but fans will still appreciate this for the 'revelations' it contains and of course , leave us all anticipating "The Van Alen Legacy!".

(Hide Review...)  Not the strongest of the series

To be safe, I'll put a spoilers disclaimer. I'll try not to be too discreet with it.

This was a highly anticipated book for me. I adored Masquerade. So I very much looked forward to Revelations. Like a few other before me, I felt this book was a bit rushed. Sad to say, the rushed plot line both confused me and pulled me away from the illusion of the series.

While on the subject of the story being rushed, I was disappointed by the length of the book. Book 1 and 2 set up a big 'ol story for book 3.A LOT of information was revealed in this book. A lot of the major plot points were also revealed. I felt like all the "revelations" made deserved a longer book to better express them. For me, the story did not fit the 264 pages. It was bigger than that.

There was so much potential in this with the way Masquerade had set it up. I wish there was more "family" interaction within the Force household. I wish the story in Corcovado was more delved into, unlike the few last chapters.

A few things I did like: Charles' story after losing Regis status. I can definitely see him losing it. Very believable. I liked Bliss' story as well. (not to sound proud, but I called it and saw it coming. ha ha)

I did not like Mimi's characterization. I like her character, and I felt like she could have been better written.
I did not like the Schuyler/Oliver/Jack love triangle. They way it was strewn in through everything, it could have been better.
I did not like Lawrence's portrayal. Of all people, he should have been first to clear things up with Schuyler. He only helps late in the novel, which is out of character in my opinion.

I wish I can say I loved this book. I still love the series and have hope for book 4. Masquerade still holds the "favorite of the series" seat. If you like the series, there is no doubt you should read this. So many things happen, it would be a shame to miss out. Just don't expect to be a "5 star" thrill.

(Hide Review...)  Not The Best Yet But A Solid Showing
Reviewer Permalink
This book felt shorter than the first two, but it's still a good, solid showing in the Blue Bloods series. Revelations follows the continuing saga of half-blooded vampire Schuyler as she's forced to move in with the aristocratic vampire family, the Forces. The story spans several continents as the vampire community deals with the threat of silver bloods.

Revelations moves the story forward quite a bit, answers some questions, and asks even more. It's also more mature and uses more colorful language than previous installments.

(Hide Review...)  Falls Short (Spoiler Free)

I am a huge fan of the Blue Bloods series. I even bought copies for my best friends.
Having said that, I was a bit disappointed with this installment. First off, this book is extremely short. I don't know if its because I've become used to longer novels like the Twilight series or even the Harry Potter books but it just seemed unsatisfying - in terms of length. One gets a feeling that the Blue Bloods series could easily have been 2 novels but was stretched out to 4 by the publishers for increased sales.
The plot may have progressed but the characters sure didn't develop in any way. The characters that I had grown to love over the last 2 books suddenly seemed so dull and one-dimensional. I had always felt that the characters in this series were so much more complex and "human" (for lack of a better term) than the stereotypical characters of Twilight and yet not a single character in Revelations managed to captivate me at all.
Another thing is that writing seemed rushed: as if Ms. De La Cruz struggled to meet her deadline. I used to be so impressed that the author is able to write multiple series simultaneously (the Ashleys, Au Pairs, Blue Bloods, etc.) and yet, in this book it finally showed. I'm sad to say, I think Melissa is starting to spread herself a little thin.
Like I said, I do love this series; I'll even go as far as to say that I love it as much as the Twilight series (which is saying a LOT). So I sincerely hope that the next book redeems the series.

I love the Blue Bloods series and I loved the story in this book, but I will agree with a lot of the reviews the book was way too short. What is up with these only 200 and 300 pgs... I loved a good story and I enjoy getting into the book and well 200 and 300 pgs is not enough. The story was great. I was very surprised by the ending which I loved being suprised. I do want Sky to find some kind of happiness with someone... Either Jack or Ollie... I just hope her next book in the series is much longer. Hate short books....I gave it 4 stars because it was too short.

The third installment,Revelations kept you wanting more. As always the ending makes you run to you computer to pre-order the next book. The one draw back I have is the lack of books in my area. None of the bookstores including Target or Borders are carrying the book. This of course was frusterating since I would love to have the secret chapter. I guess I will have to be patient. I would ask that in the future, that if the author is going to make a deal with a store chain to make sure all the stores carry her product.

Bought this book wednesday and finished it in less than 24 hours! It was so good it was hard to put it down when I went to my college classes. Out of all the 'Blue Blood' books this is my favorite so far. The author is definitely very talented. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE TO COME OUT!
Anyone who likes vampire stories, angel stories, and so on will love this book. :)

This book was def. worth the wait. I loved it! The way that it was written...the suprises! Some suprises were just a slap to the face! (not a bad slap, though. a good slap :]) It was thrilling. I read it in less than a day because I just couldn't put it down (that's why I failed my chemistry quiz today. I "forgot" to study lol) Some parts made me tear up a bit, while others made my blood pressure go sky high, but hey, that's what makes a good book, well, good.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the twist and turns that was thrown at us, but was very sad about the ending. I know that it was cleared up that Jack and Mimi pretty much have to end up together, but it still makes me frustrated. I read the online chapter after I finished the book and that made me want to cry. It seems like no matter what she does, Schuyler is not going to be able to have a truly satisfying love life. Yeah sure she loves Oliver, but I feel like it is more of a brotherly love. But on the other hand I think she deserves the guilt she gets from Oliver since she marked him without loving him in the true romantic way knowing now he will not be able to love anyone else. Its so messed up. I feel bad for all of them. I think that is why I love the stories so much. They get your thoughts and emotions tied up every characters life.

I definitely recommend this book, and this series.

I started reading blue bloods about a month ago and have become totally hooked on this series. This book is a little darker than the first two and may not be as geared towards young teens. In fact, I was feeling a little depressed after finishing the story last night. Someone had mentioned that Target has a secret chapter from the author. I just read it and I feel much better about the ending. To read it go to bluebloodbook.com/target and enter BLUEBLOODS, but do not read it until you have finished the book as it deals with the final chapter. Melissa de la Cruz has definitely written a page turner and I look forward to her next book.

Wow.
This book really did surprise me. The plot twists...the breath-taking pace...the infuriatingly delicious cliff-hangers--this third installment finally impressed upon me Mrs. Cruz's talent and creativity.

I think, initially, the whole "high society New York" plotline and the constant fashion references put me off, since I'm not really into that kind of thing and the ideas seemed superficial and hackneyed. Then after I got into the story of Blue Bloods and had discovered the temptation that was Masquerade, I admitted that the books piqued my interest. But I couldn't say this series was a favorite until now.

This is a definite must-read. You will not be disappointed! Though I advise you pick it up the day before The Van-Alen Legacy comes out, because once you finish you will be screaming for the next one. Trust me: I picked up my copy today (a day late, I was broke! haha) and gobbled it up in three hours. Good thing dedication to other series has given me a bit of patience.

**One warning, with potential spoilers**
Though the story is apparently far from over, be warned: the...romantic...ending may not be everybody's favorite. Although I secretly wanted another pair-up, I accepted the conclusion without complaint because I somehow felt it was inevitable. *Sigh* But, for all we know, this could be far from the truth, what with Mrs. Cruz's remarkable plot-twists. Keep an open mind, and you won't be disappointed.

So Revelations was an intersting book. It was far to short but it keeps a good pace and doesnt drag scenes on and on like some books can. De la cruz is not opposed to killing her characters off, so if you are a reader that wants the perfect ending were everyone is happy, this is not your book. Positvely, i feel it was a great story line, i started the book after reading Twilight because i was in need of a vampire fix in between the twilight books, and the Blue Bloods serious did not dissapoint, its very different from the twilight saga but its good in its own right.

Target is a good place to get the book beacuse of the exclusive chapter you get online with it, and let me say the chapter is goooood.

The whole Mimi, Schelyer, Jack romance well help keep the plot moving and Bliss's nightmares, Dylan showing up again half crazed hits the whats going to happen next factor....The silverbloods idenity gives the book the mystery, suspense feel. The next book in this serious will be quit good if she can resolve some of the torrid love affaris and tell us more about what the silver bloods have planned and done in Rio.

Oh, and Iv now read three books that all host Rio De Janero as a popular city in vampire lore.

So its a little educational too. ahah

This was a fun, if rather quick, book to read. I was sorry to see it end because the questions, and the saga, continue, and you can't be sure who is going to win, survive, or end up together. For a short time at least, Schuyler and Jack have a happily-for-now. The way this book ends (and I haven't read the Target promo chapter yet) everyone is going to have a fight on their hands. I hope we don't have TOO long to wait until the series is wrapped up.

Okay just finished! Let's just say that this book was definatley a far cry from others written today (cough, cough Breaking Dawn). It wasn't full of a bunch of self satisfying crap, it had alot of give and take, something that makes good books great books. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Twilight series as much as the next person, but lets just say that in my mind the series ended with Eclipse. I went through alot to get this book (jumped a fence in tight jeans and flip-flops, walked two miles, went to five stores...), more than I have for any other book, and I can say that it was worth every second, though now I'm in withdrawls (book addiction) I CAN'T wait for the next one. My only complaint is that this book was a short one... finished in one three hour sitting, no bathroom breaks (hehe). I won't say much about the book yet because a large majority of people haven't read it and I don't want to spoil it from them, but if you're interested in discussing the book further just send me a message or e-mail me at 1989@clearwire.net
