This book explains alot & good insight into one of the most mysterious characters, Ash. Literally read it in under a few days because it was just that good. She makes good use of bringing back a lot of characters from previous books. Keeps to her trademark of bringing romance, good plot & witty humor-which is why she one of the top!

I very rarely purchase hardback books at full price. This one I couldn't resist! If you've read any of Ms. Kenyon's other Dark Hunter Novels you might feel the same. Though her hot fantasies do stand alone, there is an over-arching theme in which the character Acheron is central. When I saw this book at the store, I snatched it up fast and, once home, pushed other reading material aside for this one. Oh, yeah. It's good!
Acheron is the son of two Atlantean gods, Archon and Apollymi. According to prophecy, the son of this union would be the death of Atlantis, so Archon orders the child killed before it is even born. In haste, Apollymi delivers her child and sends it to the human realm to grow up, without its godly powers so he'll remain anonymous. And so begins Acheron's life, where one cruelty leads to another, until he is so scared he begs for death, a death he cannot have. And it gets worse. ACHERON is in two parts: his formative years, and the present day. Tragedy, beautifully written, will hold you to the chair, page after page until you're late for your next appointment. As always, however, Ms. Kenyon does give us a silver lining, bright and shiny. I really don't want to tell more--this is such a grand read I recommend you pick it up yourself! Though, if you've not read her stories before, you might want to start with one of her smaller volumes and work up to this one, just so you'll understand how special Acheron is. For those already entrenched in the saga, ACHERON gives readers an explanation of what really happened back in the time of Atlantis, and tells us how the Dark Hunters got started. Why are Ms. Kenyon's stories so good? Because they are character driven, and written with such a strong dose of humanity those characters seem real (though at times this is a tad overdone). And, her men are absolutely scrumptious! ACHERON reaches above the author's norm and into true literature; very highly recommended for readers of hot romantic-fantasy. I definitely want the next book this author puts out! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-27 02:57:30 EST)

This is just one of those rare books that you have your doubts about for, say, 3 seconds, then realize you're hooked. I have read hundreds, if not thousands of books, and I have to say that this is one of the best I have EVER read. I stayed up until 4 in the morning reading it, then put it down for the sole purpose of getting a few hours sleep so I could start reading again as soon as possible. Unlike most books, Acheron doesn't have you watching from afar saying "Oh. How sad." It has you in the book, watching all the events unfold, your heart crying out in agony for Acheron. For me, this book had more depth to it than any other book I've ever read. Don't skip out on this book just because of what you've seen of Acheron in other books or because of the few negative reviews you've seen on here. Trust me: You don't know what you're missing. My only regret is that I didn't read it sooner. This is only the second book I have read my Kenyon, but it will certainly not be my last. This book is #1 on my keeper shelf.

This could have been a work of art, the romance was not convincing and why did I have to read over 400 pages of Acheron's punishments. Acheron was not a believable God of destruction but an unfortunate soul paralyzed by fear. The God of destruction was Apollymi and I was disappointed with her very puny parts. Artemis, she is the nastiest of all the personalities, so psychologically scheming that I'm baffled as to why she received such a large part instead of the destroyer god. Rissa and her childs should have played a big part of his second life. I waited to the knowledge of the child like teenage demon powers but I guess she was just a dragon tattoo. The drunken scene was deprived of emotions. This book could have been a masterpeice if the story lines were well thought out but, seem hurried and came across shallow.

Let me first say I was a huge fan of SK's previous books. But this tale was completely unbelievable. This could have been a masterpiece, but I didn't buy the romance and I didn't see anything in Acheron's character that was worth 728 pages. Acheron is definitely NOT the God of destruction, he couldn't harm a fly (well besides a few Daimons). The only believable character in the book was Apollymi and she always plays a very small part in the series, which is disappointing. Don't get me started on Artemis, she is definitely the worst character of the series, so emotionally manipulative that I'm puzzled as to why anyone would give her the time of day, especially a destroyer god with stronger powers.

Eleven thousand years ago, Archon's three illegitimate daughters, The Fates, accidentally cursed Archon and Apollymi's son Apostolos. The curse would kill them all so Archon wanted the babe killed. To save her unborn child, Apollymi had the infant raised by mortals. When Apostolos and his twin brother Styxx were born it was apparent that Apostolos was not identical in every way to his twin. To them, he was an abomination. He was named after the River of Woe. They called him Acheron.
Present Day: Eleven thousand years is not long enough to banish the horror of his past. Acheron doesn't get close to anyone and he doesn't trust. He still thinks he is unworthy of love. Then he meets Dr. Soteria Kafieri. Tori is an archeologist trying to uncover the mysteries of Atlantis. She is determined to finish her father's work and bring dignity back to her family. Acheron is determined to keep his past hidden. If it means ruining Tori's good name to do it, so be it. Tori uncovers more than ancient artifacts. She now has the power to destroy Acheron and the world, but she doesn't know it. As they begin to fight a battle that will either save or kill them all, Tori becomes the one person who may finally be able to save Acheron. Acheron is the baddest of the bad boys. He's sex personified. To see him is to want him. He is a legend in any time. He rules with righteous indignation and he never breaks a promise. Acheron is one of the most compelling characters I've ever read about and as such his story needed to be as well. Acheron is that, and more. Part one delves into Acheron's past. It's brutal, agonizing, and terribly unjust. No mere mortal could have survived such pain and torture. Acheron is constantly persecuted and violated. It is emotionally draining to read. He suffers unimaginable pain and anguish. He brings new meaning to the phrase "tortured hero". Sherrilyn Kenyon excels at creating descriptive scenes and imaginative characters. Part two is just as thrilling and action-packed as all of the Dark Hunter stories. Battles, car chases, gods, demons, and more make every page exciting. At first, I wasn't sure how things would work between Tori and Acheron, but Tori quickly proved to be the perfect woman for him. Her strength and compassion shines on every page. After reading Acheron my hatred of Artemis is justified, and even if Acheron weren't a god, he still would be to me. There is no man more appealing, more charming, or more sexy than him. There is also no one more deserving of a happily ever after. Acheron is a story of revelations and confirmations. Questions are finally answered and doubts are cast aside as Acheron's story is told in its brilliant entirety. If you thought you loved him before, wait until you read this! Sherrilyn Kenyon raises the bar once again with Acheron. It is an epic tale that surpassed my highest hopes. It totally rocks! I have read all the Dark Hunter Series that have been written so far by Sherrilyn Kenyon, getting ready to read One Silent Night, and loved them all, but I have to say that this is by far my favorite. Couldn't put it down. I am glad that she finally gave Acheron someone to love him the way he should be loved without the abuse the he had as a human and at Artie's hands. The first part of the book in his human life brought tears with all the abuse and degrading from his human family and the last part as a god brought smiles. It also brought out the soft side of Apollymi where her son is concerned and let you know that she is a mother who loves her son more than life itself. This is a very good book! It's one that I could read again. It made you understand Acheron better and brought alot of his actions in the other stories together on the why that he wouldn't interfere in some things and tied a lot of the loose ends together about him. Hopefully there will be more to his and Torry's story in the future ones like payback to Artie and how he will now manage to get the souls of the Dark Hunters.
Kudos to Sherrilyn on this book! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-19 02:27:03 EST)

I have been kenyon's books avid reader. I have especially waited for Acheron to come out. In all honesty, a disappointing read. It was 400 pages of repetitive torture, so unnecc when you think about it. Very graphic as well. Very uneccessarily graphic. The heroine didn't come upto the mark. Luke warm, silly, vapid. And acheron went from alpa male factor to dweeby mushy boy. Expected so much better after such a long wait. Loved Kenyon's previous efforts, especially the book with Valerius, Zarek and Night pleasures. Too many characters, not enough depth and too much confusing history in all her recent books. Not running to stores to buy her books anymore.

This book clarified a lot of background history on these characters to explain the relationships and why these character react and interact the way they do to each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and i have Stryker's book which I have not started yet. Bravo a book with some meat and potatoes substances to it the prequel of all prequels has done what the movies can never come close to doing it right and not ruining and disappointing their audience.

I'm not going to go into an in-depth synopsis of this book as it would really take awhile. Suffice to say this story is really epic in nature and true departure from any of the other Dark Hunter books and this makes sense as this is Ash's book. And Ash is anything but ordinary.
I personally highly enjoyed this book, there is a great deal of back story...okay more than half of this title is back story and very little is about his romance but that's okay, as this give us, the reader a better position to understand and appreciate his romance. This title is very graphic and there are plenty of times you the reader may ask yourself if this is necessary. I personally believe it its...as yes, it gives Ash even more depth. This is a great read, I was absorbed for the entirety of it and feel that Kenyon did right by her mysterious hero, Acheron. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-16 02:16:45 EST)

I really enjoyed the Dark-Hunter series when I first started reading it. As someone else said, Sherrilyn Kenyon isn't the best writer in the world, but her plot lines were interesting enough to keep me reading. Unfortunately, as I read more and more of her books, the lack of good writing is becoming more and more of a problem. At this point, you could pretty much cut and paste almost entire paragraphs from her older books into this one. You could even cut and paste some sections of this book onto others. I got pretty tired of hearing Ryssa and Tory saying that something about Ash made them want to weep. And I'm really sick of hearing, "No one deserves [insert some horrible torture here]. No one." That phrase is in ever single one of her books. The character development is also seriously lacking. All of Sherrilyn Kenyon's heroines are interchangeable. Sure, Kenyon says that some of them are reserved and others are more brash, but the way they interact with the hero of the book is always the same. She's always the only person who was ever seen behind the facade, who has ever been kind to him or sympathized with him or just didn't care that he was a general or whatever, she's going to stand up to him anyway. In this book, I don't really see what differentiates Tory from Susan or Tabitha or Astrid or Sunshine. Any one of them would have loved and treated Ash well and none of them would have betrayed him. All of them were "strangely amusing" and thoughtful and loyal. So seriously, why would Ash fall for Tory? It's just not believable. Kenyon's books are becoming increasingly formulaic and after this last one, I just don't think I can take another one. Sorry, Sherrilyn Kenyon, come back when you've got some fresh material.

A few years ago, when the series first came out and there was a projected time line of what books were coming out when, I noticed Ash's book and couldnt wait the YEARS it was going to take to get it. The day Acheron came out, I went to the bookstore and bought it, put the book I was currently reading down and picked Acheron up. I had waited way too many years to wait even another day.
The book falls into the catagory of best books I have EVER read. Two books in one, the first half is how Ash got to be where he is today and the second half is his story. The first half was next to brutal, so heart wrenching, I balled my eyes out. The second half was past extradorinary and the two storys combined? Explosive. I read and reread the book a few times. It answered SO many questions, brought so much together and made me love Ash even more. Tory, man, what a woman! Perfect for Ash. There is enough reviews with the details and really, all you have to know is that this is one friggin awesome book. I have been turning as many people as I can over the years on to SK's books, and have successfully helped to add on to her readers. She is just really that great of a writer. I am and always will be a faithful reader of SK's books. And this book will be much loved and read MANY more times. But if your gonna start the series, start at the beginning. Youd miss way too much. This book definitely does not disappoint! Like all other Dark-Hunter fans, I had waited breathlessly to finally get my paws on "Acheron" and it was well worth the wait. I love how Kenyon brings a very "human" aspect to our favorite DH and his heroine... Well, I wasn't pleased at first but as I read them together the pairing couldn't have been more perfect. I can't wait to see what Artemis is going to pull on the lovers over the years! LOL

This book has got to be the most anticipated book of the year. I mean this was a major book considering the fact Ash is one of the more popular characters. You just have to have a major book about one of the most mysterious characters of the series.
The book is layed out into 2 parts. Part 1 is Ash's past. It tell his story from his birth to the beginning of the dark hunters. Not necessarily my favorite of the two parts, but it does wet your appetite. And it does have some very suprising and shocking moments. Part 2 fast forwards to the present. This part is excellent. You make connections that u didn't think were possible. Overall I give this book 4 1/2 stars. I was hoping for an exellent book and I got that. Would recommend this series to all paranormal romance fans. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-04 02:38:11 EST)

I've read this series at least four times just so I could torture myself until this book came out. As usual, it was touching, infuriating, and wonderful all rolled into one. Sherrilyn Kenyon is almost untouchable in this genre. Can't wait to see what she does with Stryker.

Going beyond the regular run-of-the mill romance novel, Kenyon brings us something far more deep and involved. Acheron still has all the wit and sensuality Kenyon is known for, but it also is a story about a complex character who suffered greatly during his human life. I found the book to be both heart-wrenching and heart-pumping. It was a great read -- I devoured it in two days. It's definitely Kenyon at her best.

OMG! I knew that this book would be great, but...WOW! I have to say, the first part (Acherons human life) was so hard to read. Not becuse it was written poorly, but becuase all of us have already fallen in love with Acheron, so it is very hard to read how he was treated and what he went through. I cried through that whole part of the book. This whole series is amazing, but there are no others like Acheron. Sherrilyn knows her stuff, and this series (especially Acheron) proves it. Way to go, Sherrilyn! Keep em comming.

320 pages of "F_____ and beatings" to quote Acheron. I get it, he was abused. I am so depressed, disappointed and tired of the beatings, blood and abuse I had to write this review and state DON'T BOTHER!!! As much as I wanted to know about Acheron, it just isn't worth it. I just glad I didn't waste my money on this book.

Acheron is Sherrilyn Kenyon's best book for quite a while. I always enjoy them but this one was really "on the money". The first half of the book is pretty gruesome stuff and incredibly dark just as a Dark Hunter book should be. The second half is much faster paced and draws to a great conclusion. Bring on the next one!

Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12) Sherrilyn Kenyon fans have held their breath in wait of the 12th installment of the Dark-Hunter Series. Since his debute in the book, Acheron has fascinated readers the world over. He's been a side character in most of the DH novels, taunting everyone with the secrets he keeps. At last, though, his story is told in Acheron. It was shocking, emotional and amazing to read how Acheron became a Dark-Hunter. I enjoyed the book immensely, and hope that Sherrilyn Kenyon never stops writing. She's never failed to deliver an amazing story, and Acheron is no exception.

With the exception of Devil May Cry, the last few books by Kenyon in the Dark-Hunter and Dream-Hunter series has left me flat. However, SK has brought me back into the fold with Acheron!
Acheron's story is poignant and complex and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The book takes you through Acheron's past and sheds light on his experiences and relationship with Artemis. I loved the heroine in this book and Acheron's realization of his TRUE worth. It is truly a must read! I am looking forward to Stryker's book which will be out in November. I also hope that Kenyon returns to the Werehunters...I am eagerly awaiting Aimee and Fang's story. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-01 03:33:42 EST)

Though many people seem to find the beginning of the book unpleasant and IT IS quite depressing and difficult to read because of the horrendous experiences Acheron endured....but this gives many of his behaviors some background, depth, and helps the reader understand him and some of his present "quirks". I've read it once, then went back and reread the 2 prior books (dreamhunter, etc) bacause they had not been up to what I consider the author's standards and somewhat boring so I had not really read them and I want the background before I reread Acheron. I can't wait! It will be even better this time. Sherrilyn really returned to the previous kind of books she writes so well. If you are a dark hunter fan, then you have to read this......it will reward you, especially since the last couple books, I believe, were let-downs. THIS ONE ISN'T!!!!

This is the "topper" of the Kenyon Dark-HUnter series. Fans had been waiting with "bated breath" for Acheron's story to arrive and it did not dissappoint ! The "heart and soul" character of the Dark HUnters is truly alive and well in Kenyon's 12th book of the series. The book is an extensive 728 page epic of Acheron's life ,or "lives", which was absolutely necessary in order to bring to life this , her most enigmatic and intriguing character, in a very realistic and impacting way. It is jammed packed w/ Kenyon's usual outsatnding level of human drama, hip humor, witty banter, classical history, pop-culture and steamy sensuality factor. A true winner ! If you have been a Dark HUnter devotee and have harbored a serious crush on "Ash", you cannot miss this read, for it truly is the culminating masterpiece of her series (although NOT the last book) Sit back or "lie back" and enjoy !

I have been waiting for Ash's story since the beginning of the Darkhunter series and THIS is what I get? Seriously, the pages and pages of abuse were soooo not necessary - a few chapters would have been enough but almost 400 pages? With all his regal bearing (even with abuse and neglect) the second part where he lamely falls in love the minute he sees Tori? Come on, with all his history how could you expect us to believe it would be that easy! I'm really sorry I read this because it has ruined any chance of me reading any more of Kenyon's books in the future!

I found the first half of Ash's story wonderfully graphic and detailed, filling in the background of all his interesting quirks noticed throughout the other Dark Hunter books. It is in the second half that I had the most trouble in terms of the romance and his passivity/uncertainty.
I was surprised that Kenyon chose Tory as his love interest. I am still not buying into the relationship because it seemed rushed and a little on the adolescent side. However, lines such as, "Please don't pull my hair," from Ash as he and Tory make love, tear through you, especially given the information imparted in the book's first half because we now know why he does not like people standing behind him or touching him or looking at his eyes. I was also a little disappointed that Ash seems to have lost some of his swagger. The concert scene, for me, was rather unnecessary and weak. However, I am willing to go with it because this is Kenyon's story to tell and this is her way of telling us what this character has to deal with. We are glimpsing him at his most unguarded and anyone is bound to be vulnerable in that state. Kenyon does a great job of showing that swagger when he is around his Dark-Hunters and others, nevertheless. Kenyon accomplishes quite a bit with this book. She provides enough to keep the Dark Hunter series (complete with peripheral characters) going on, particularly with Jaden, Stryker, Styxx, Urian, Savitar, Nick, Apollymi, and yes, Artemis (sigh). I like the way Kenyon also gives a nod to the Dark Hunters who were finding an "out" through their true loves joining them in immortality because it is theme in her books that was becoming worn out and tired. What I like about Ash's romance, is that we know Artemis will not take this lying down and she will be a thorn in his side for a long, long, time. I'm not a fan of the goddess, but the path of true love should also not be easy. Overall, this is a great book. Ash's story has been a long time coming and Kenyon takes her series to the next level. This book is probably the best book I've read in a couple of years. I could tell the quality right from the start. It got so intense, which was necessary to understand our hero, that I would sometimes have to put it down and read something else. But I always came back. This book puts this author above so many others. I'm glad she didn't skimp and gave us 600 plus pages. And so glad it's not the cliche vampire paranormal stuff. A great read even though it's a chick book,(giggle.)

I LOVED this book. I think the first 400 pages detailing Ash's early life were much needed. So often in the DH novels I'll be thinking "OK, so you had a bad time, get over it and trust this girl" By detailing Ash's tragedies, I realized why that isn't always going to be easy. The DH's are not all stubborn, sometimes they, like Ash, have just learned from their past. This is the best DH novel yet, I have read it twice in the last week. Also, I wasn't as big a fan of Ash's as my friends, but his book totally changed my mind.

I have read everyone of the DH series, and have fell in love with each and every character. So as you can see, I was so ready for Ash's book to be released. I pre-order and waited. The day it arrived i was as giddy as a young bride on her wedding night.. I could not wait to begin Ash's journey. The moment I sat down to read, I cried, I got upset and slammed the book down, refusing to read more. Yet, I had to know his story. I picked it back up and continued to read. By far, this is the best book, I have ever read. I,Michelle, take my hat off to you, Ms.Sherrilyn Kenyou. You are a Master writer. Please never stop writing stories. Please continue to publish books, that make us feel as if we are living that life. Thank you for giving so many of us an escape fromour own realities!

I couldn't wait for this book to come out and it didn't disapoint! You have to read the others in the series before you attempt this one, otherwise you won't understand the characters. Acheron has been my favourite character throughout the dark-hunter books and I was glad when his book game out. This is proberly the most emotional book i have ever read. The first half had me in tears but the second half is a lovely love story. This is definitely worth the time to read because it has to be my favourite dark-hunter novel. So if you have read the others in the series then you MUST read Acheron (but have the tissues at hand!)

I don't think I can elaborate on this anymore than the other reviews. I just know that it was a emotional experience for me, I cried and cried, then laughed and rejoiced all for one character. I don't think that I have ever done that with another book. I know some people didn't like the first part, but it made brought alot of things into perspective with the whole series.
Loved it! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-01 03:33:43 EST)

Let me just say I am a big fan of Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter books. I enjoy the action...the love story and the SEX! That being said the first part of this book wasnt her norm. But it was GOOD. I almost cried through the whole thing....heartwrenching is the only way to describe it. I fell in love with Acheron and couldnt put the book down. Then I hit "present day" and boy was I disapointed. The 'heroine' was just irritating. Sherilyn tried to make her strong but it came across as odd and fake. She just didnt seem like the right mtach for Acheron at all. Acheron didnt seem like himself either. Its to bad because I loved the first half of this book. But all in all I still love this series and will continue reading and reccommending it.

I did not mind waiting for this book to be published, it is well worth the wait. Acheron, even from the beginning of the DHS, I've always been very curious about him and that I had always wished that he would find someone who would ease away the pain and just make him happy and I am just glad that he found that someone. Acheron has always been one of my fave in the DHS. I just love this book, it is such an emotional roller coaster of a story. All in all I can say for this book is EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD.... Sherrilyn Kenyon had done it again!!!! I can't wait for the next one RE: STRYKER. Nick Gautier where r u???!!!!

I thought this book was great, but perhaps the first half could have been trimmed down by about 100 pages. Ms. Kenyon had a lot to live up to in telling us Acheron's story and she dows a wonderful job. All the back history was extemely well developed, but I think a little bit of editing could have gone a long way. Just in case we didn't pick up that Archeron suffered before becoming a "god" we are repeatedly served up scenes of suffering. One or two scenes could communicated the constant betrayal of Archeron by those around him would have sufficed. Instead we are beat over the literary head with nastiness by his "foster" father, brother and our favorite b%#*&@, Artemis. After a while once I realized which way the scene was going (betrayal, suffering, etc) I would just skip the section.
The second half of the book is of course Ms. Kenyon's strength - she writes a wonderful para-normal love story. Her characters are interesting and well developed. The touch of humor is welcome. Overall I really enjoyed this much awaited story of Acheron, but think in her enthusiasm to get it "just right" Ms. Kenyon went a little over-board with Acheron's desparate early life. The book was awesome....the condition it arrived in however, was not. The book had grease or something similar on the inside pages. I expected the book to be shipped in excellent condition since it was supposedly a NEW book....I'm not happy with the Amazon shipping department. I most likely will not purchase anything else from Amazon.

Wow, Sherrilyn Kenyon has done it again. I could hardly put this book down long enough to cook meals and sleep. It looks long, but it could have been twice as long and I still would have longed for it not to end. Acheron is achingly good, making you love and feel for the character more than you already did. As usual, I can't wait to see the next one.

This was by far the best of the series. It was long but so worth it. It had depth and a story line that was amazingly easy to follow. I loved the story of Acheron and it definitely brought more to the dark hunter series. I would recommend this to anyone who has or has not followed the books and likes mythological fiction and romance.

I have read all the Dark Hunter series and loved them all. I saw the size of this one and thought "whoa tmi" but I absolutely could not put it down and devoured it in a weekend. Loved it! I hope there is more in the works in this line, and I am really glad to see Acheron get himself a sweetie finally.

This is Kenyon's best ever, and I've read them all. I referred to this book as "the Precious" I could not put it down and did not want it to end! I am planning to read it again since this is the kind of complex, multi-layered story that almost needs to be reread to be truly appreciated.

Ok this is one of my favorite books EVER..I have loved this series for years and I am glad Ash finally got his own book! SK has hinted for years and given us clues about Ash but no one knew exactly what he was and I ate up ever page of this big book. But theh reason SK did not get a 5 star is these 3 reasons:
1. I would have loved to see more of Kat, Ash's daughter. This was a perfect time for Ash and Kat to grow in their relationship and SK did not allow it. Plus in the book Ash is always saying no one loves him, but Simi and his mom. Hello, what about Kay, she has always loved him from afar cause of Artie1 2. Not enough of Simi. Simi is my favorite character and she could have been in every scene and that would have made me happy!!! 3. I wish Tory would have kicked Artie's butt all over Olympus. Yeah they had one scene but I wish Tory would have given her a taste of her own medicine. This is a great series and I am looking forward to Styker's book and any other book she decides to write. Keep them coming sherrilyn!!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-06 04:32:03 EST)

Without a doubt,Ms. Kenyon can write her butt off. True, it is a very difficult read, but ASH is not your typical Dark-Hunter. He's their leader, confidant, and all-around fixer. If you're faint of heart, this may not be the book for you, but if you can get through the first half, then you're well on your way to nirvana! With all the abuse, rejection you finally understand his stand-offish, guarded attitude/manner. But through it all, he maintains his humanity, and compassion towards everyone, but not himself. I'm gonna have to read it again, JUST BECAUSE I CAN!!!! Well done, Ms. Kenyon, well done.

First let me say that to date I have enjoyed all of the books in the Dark-Hunter, Were-Hunter Series. I have even enjoyed the Dream-Hunter books.
I found the first part of Acheron heart wrenchingly riveting, you would have a good idea of where a particular scene was going and really did not want to read it and yet you felt compelled to continue. So many things were answered and many questions were raised, it was well written, well thought out and worth every penny, I spent on it. Then we came to the present day, what I term the second part. I read somewhere that Kenyon had had to re-write the draft for Dream Hunter, since in the first one she had blown up Ash's Heroine, when she blew up "The Simi" She really should have left her at the bottom of the sea. I admit I was never a Tori fan, I do not think Kenyon was either. Where the first half was smooth and flowing, the second half is rough and choppy. In Dream-Hunter, We have a girl who at the age of 15 was considered a certified genius, she is reputed not to do much of anything besides read Plato We fast-forward ahead 10 years Little Mouse Tori is still a mouse but wait she is also an adrenaline junky. In ten years she has managed to land her Doctorate and gotten a job as a professor at Tulane, she has taken the Porsche Driving course, and learned to Fence, has experience on Motorcycles, and a multitude of other things. She has also been plundering the Aegean for Atlantis. I am sorry but most of these things are very expensive, many she would have had to be eighteen, they also take time to learn. The pieces just do not fit together. I hope Stryker is back on track. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-03 03:38:10 EST)

This book explained all the things you were wondering about Acheron and what made him the god he is today. I think SK wrote about his abuse in more of an implied way than just out right stating it and it made you feel for him all the more. I hope Acheron and Simi are in the next books because I enjoy reading about them.

acheron was a great read. I think the details in the begining of human acheron lets us understand the dark-hunter acheron. maybe was intending to the author also shows us that adversity in childhood does not necassary led to a truly bad person. it also showed how a young acheron looking for affection was used by artemis. i enjoyed this book immersely and look forward to more of the dark-hunter series. it was great reading about old favorites. hope to see more of them.
