I loved this book...
It has a very broad look into opening a Ebay business. It starts with the general how to establish a Ebay business. Then it onfolds into the details of everything you need to know about making money on Ebay. There are a few chapters where I would haved liked them to be longer, like the dropshipping chapter. But on general you have everything there. This book is a must. This book is like a textbook of your favorite class from college... its very detailed and details are what matters on business. Skip is a very likeable writer who has obviously done well on eBay. I found this book to be well thought out easy to read. I met Skip at eBay Live last year and he was very helpful, which I appreciated. Unfortunately I also bought a book by Adam Ginsberg, only to find out through some news sites that he has been banned from eBay for shill bidding and failing to send multiple orders worth hundreds of thousands of dollars!
The only other comment I have about Skip's book is that I would have liked to have seen a few more real world examples of how his techniques can be applied. It's a small point though in a generally excellent book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-11 10:33:22 EST)

I purchased a half a dozen books on creating a eBay business and I found this book to be the most complete and informative. Most of the others were junk. If you are starting an eBay business you must buy this book.

I have been on ebay now for a couple of years I have had some hits and misses as a seller. I think now with some of the tips and planse in this book I will be a better and more profitable seller. Oh by the way my Ebay name is Lamont912 check me out some time and just say hello

Skip knows what he's talking about and shares the wealth of his experience in this welcome guide. A Gold-level PowerSeller (not exactly Titanium, but high enough to show he's a pro), McGrath is also an eBay radio commentator, eBay Live speaker, and one of the most knowledgeable eBay writers around. This is a desk reference you'll want to keep handy as you build your business. Leaves no stone unturned. You can't go wrong with this one.

...and some more headaches lol, but this book is really awesome. I was doing ok on ebay...as a second job and I was enjoying it a lot, but now, after I red this book I really feel confident I can quit my job and start the business full time. This book is a must for whoever wants to grow big on ebay and make a serious living out of it (and I'm not talking about making $3000 a month...). The automated procedures section was eyeopening...I have so many new ideas now on how to increase sales. Written with a great sense of order, procedures and rationality. You can only grow if you follow a discipline and this book will tell you exactly what to do (and not to do) and how to do it. Great job!

This book is phenominal... I have read many books out there on ecommerce business and this is by far the best for someone starting from scratch... This seller had a tremendous price and super quick shipping...would highly reccomend

I am glad I purchased this book. I am a relatively new seller to ebay and I am trying to get into this business on a serious level. I have learned so much from just reading 3 or 4 chapters of this book! I can't wait until I finish it. I truly believe this book can take ANY ebay business to a Titanium Seller level it's just a matter of reading the books and applying the principles. I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE considering an ebay business!

First, let me qualify myself. I've been selling on eBay for several years now and attained the level of Gold PowerSeller this past summer. That basically means I average over $10,000 in monthly sales. I bought this book because I attended a session hosted by the author at eBay Live! in June and thoroughly enjoyed it. It covers everything you need to know about setting up your business, equipment needed (whether shoestring budget or optimal setup), finding product at a price you can afford AND make a profit, tools to use, how to price, how to market and tons more. You only need a few of these gems to make a difference, but there are plenty to pick from. It's well written and easy to understand, whether you're a novice or a seasoned eBay pro. What it WON'T do is tell you how to obtain an eBay ID, set up a seller account and that sort of thing. But there are scores of books that tell you that, in addition to the eBay help pages.
This book isn't for the casual eBay seller. If you just want to sell a few things out of your attic instead of holding a garage sale, don't bother. But if you're serious about building an ongoing eBay business, this book is a must-have. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-11 10:24:17 EST)

I've read many books on eBay selling and subscribe to most of the newsletters. Some books are full of straight-up nonsense, or good for a specific aspect of eBay, or just a marketing scheme for you to buy yet more books (or services) by the author. Skip McGrath's book is different; it is by far the most comprehensive book I have read about REALLY selling on eBay. We're talking jaw-dropping ideas here. Just about every aspect of eBay selling is covered in this 540+ page book. It seems like he's seen (and probably done) it all. He has the skinny on the best picture taking techniques, specific wording for dealing with dead-beat, non-paying bidders so you get your listing fees back asap, etc. He really covers it all!!! Okay, stop reading,buy this book, read it, and come back here and tell me how right I am!!!

First, my experience with Ebay tells me that a reasonably priced
article will sell quickly. The author explains how to organize and run a business. There are details on how to select products and price them to sell quickly. This aspect is very critical. Whatever you sell, the consummation of the transaction must take place within the limited time of the auction. So, pricing is critical. Otherwise, you'll be paying unfunded listing fees. According to the author, personalized mugs, trendy handbags, diamond rings,jewelry and watches are the quickest sellers. Suppliers for jewelry and watches are easy to locate. Ebay Motors is another source for turning a quick profit on a car. According to the sellers. identify the area of greatest need and sell there. For instance, if you're on a beach on a sunny day- sunblock will sell because people will not want to go back and forth to the commissary. Since I began selling on eBay a few months ago, I've read a number of "How To" books about eBay. Most are just too basic, or they're filled with a lot of "Aren't I great" stuff that won't help YOU one bit. But this book is different.
Skip is a Power Seller and he has been very successful, so, of course, there's a bit about Skip and his success. But mainly it's about HOW he's been successful. Basically, it's cover to cover "nuts and bolts" across the eBay spectrum of what you can and need to do to be successful at eBay. If you want to really be successful at eBay, this book will give you more help and ideas than all the others combined. If you read only one book about eBay, this is the book you MUST read. I keep it on my nightstand and continue to go back through it, learning new things and finding new ideas I didn't pick up on the first time. There are a lot of books that tell you how to be a PowerSeller on e-Bay, and even more that tell you how to get started selling on d-Bay. This book skips the beginning stuff and presumes you have some idea about how to sell something on e-Bay. This book is concerned with taking you up to the maximum levels. At first he talks about some of the business aspects you will have to address as your business grows to this size.
The business aspects are fairly standard, picking a name, setting up the business, accounting, insurance, and your permanent business partner - the IRS. It's after that section, along about Part 2 of the book that he gets into the real key to being a Titanium seller, Product Selection and Pricing. e-Bay is just about the closest the world has ever seen of a perfect marketplace. The internet has provided a communications medium that it instantaneous, free, and worldwide. And you need to find a product that you can sell, in volume (Titanium level is $150,000 per month.), without everyone else jumping on your parade and selling the same product for a few cents less until there is no money in it for anyone. He doesn't tell you what such products might be. If he did, mobs of people would be selling just what he says, and the profits would go away. YOU have to find something of your own, something that you can control the pricing, something that other people won't jump all over. What he does do is give you some ideas about where to look and what to look for. If you can apply what he says, you can come up a winner. These pages, from page 69 to 240 are worth the price of the book many times over. The rest of the stuff you have to do, but this product part is critical. Just when I think that Skip McGrath has reached his pinnacle in understanding of the eBay world he has topped himself again. His "no punched pull" approach as to how to make a success at eBay selling and applying this in a factual business format amazes me yet again. Being a powerseller of over six years you would think that I would not need to read a book on "how to". Wrong, every chapter is full of information that I had forgotten or never knew. I can assure you that selling on eBay is not the easiest way to make a living. Whether you are an old dog needing to learn new tricks, or a beginner wanting NOT to make the same mistakes that so many has made before you, buy Skip's book and you will be "way a head" of the eBay game.

I have read many eBay books, however they were missing something. A lot of the books that I read about various subject matters would get you to the very basic question, "Where do I go from here?"
This book contained many useful resources to overcome obstacles of daily selling issues. There were many new ideas of where to obtain product and not just from garage sales. A lot of these where places that I never heard of. If you were going to purchase a single book about eBay, I would highly recommend this one.
