BUFFALOed I'm new to all this and Brent Sampson's book is the life saver that is going to keep me afloat in the Sea of Amazon.

I've been an Amazon customer since the very beginning. Did you know that in the first two years of operation they used to send us (their active book store customers) Christmas gifts--FREE. I still have my two thermal glasses with the literary sayings from famous authors such as: "My books are water, those of the great geniuses are wine--everybody drinks water," Mark Twain.

And everybody who is a POD author needs Sampson's book. I've had traditionally published books on Amazon that were published back in the 80s, Commuter Marriage: Living Together, Apart, but until reading "Sell Your Book," I had no idea about all the terrific opportunities Amazon offers. Now I'm going to start using them. Thanks, Brent.

I'm also going to tell all the members of Scottsdale Society of Women Writers about this book at our next meeting.

We've recently published our first book, Walt Disney World with Disabilities. In my experience Amazon doesn't really make it easy for an author or publisher to determine what marketing tools are available, and they don't always make it easy to utilize these tools. Simply put, Sell Your Book on Amazon took the mystery out of Amazon, and put everything into a very easy to understand format. I now know what to do. What else could you ask for?!!!

The author went through every option that we have for supporting our book sales on Amazon. He described and rated the effectiveness of each option, and let us know if it's worth the time it takes to complete the process. This has saved me from wasting a lot of time and anything that helps me to use my time more effectively is fantastic! It has also helped me to focus on the options that will prove the most prosperous. Promoting a book is a full time task in itself and can be overwhelming. This book showed me how best to accomplish my goals.

I really appreciate Brent Sampson for doing such an excellent job of tutoring us author newbies.

As a new author, I suddenly found myself on Amazon but like the fabled dog that caught the car, I did not know what to do with it. My publisher had placed my book on the site but his promotional activities involved media kits, radio interviews, book signing, etc. and nothing to do with Amazon.

Good thing for me, Brent Sampson's book was available. As an author that works full-time for a corporation, I do not have the leisure time to devote to all of the `boots on the ground' promotional activities therefore; I need to rely heavily on the power of Amazon.

The advice in this book is fantastic and I cannot wait to start planting the seeds and see the fruits of my labor. I highly recommend this book to any author publishing with an independent publisher. Michael L. Gooch, SPHR Author of Wingtips with Spurs

This book is one of the must-have resources for self-published authors.

Brent Sampson offers up a wealth of tips that he actually ranks by effectiveness. So, instead of delivering a "laundry list" of things to do, he actually helps the reader determine just how to apportion that increasing scarce resource of "available time" and create a customized game plan that fits your particular strengths and abilities.

I've never regretted buying this book. I think you'll feel the same.

As an author with a book for sale on Amazon, I had high hopes for this book. My hopes were not dissapointed. When my book was first listed on Amazon, I would get on the page listing it to see if I had moved up the best seller list or not. It occured to me from looking over the Amazon site that there should be things I could do to enhance my book sales but I didn't know where to start. Along came "Sell Your Book on Amazon" and I finally was able to understand what to do and how it would affect my book sales. The explanations and step by step how to advice is what you would hope for and expect from a how to type of book. Too many of them are more fluff than substance but this one has some real meat.

I have been looking for just such a book. I read the first few chapters and it kept me up all night, thinking of a million ideas. I was planning and strategizing for days.

This book is incredible for anyone wanting to develop their presence on Amazon. I have spoken to several authors of self published works, and the majority of them knew little of the strategies in this book. It is well written, well layed out and definitely worth reading.

Brent, congratulations!

By Charles Jacobs, author of The Writer Within You

Amazon is changing the book industry, so says Brent Sampson, author of Sell Your Book on Amazon. And it is! I thought I was aware of all of the unique selling tools this remarkable web site offers to its authors. Sampson showed me how wrong I was.

I have often wondered why some competing authors were so successful in having their books appear not only on their own title page (or as Sampson calls it Book Detail Page), but also on the pages of other authors. You've seen them: "Better Together" or "Customers who bought this item also bought." I found out why by reading this book

And there is a great deal more that I am incorporating into my Amazon presence after discovering it in Sampson's guide. Of course, Amazon wants authors to participate in these programs to encourage multiple sales. That's not so bad if the "multiple" is your book because it appeared alongside one by Dan Poynter or Patricia Fry.

While I am reluctant to stimulate more competition for my work, I feel obligated to share these findings with fellow authors. Simple to understand, direct and well written, Sampson's book is too good to miss.

Brent wrote a very nice book. He provides a comprehensive outline of what you MUST do to generate more book sales...by leveraging all of the resources that Amazon provides. There are numerous "tricks of the trade" that you'll learn by reading this book that will help increase your own book's online presence that will ultimately result in more books SOLD.

If you are an author of any book, you should educate yourself about the methods and techniques used by savvy book marketing gurus. I highly recommend "Sell Your Book on Amazon" to anyone who wants to sell more books on Amazon!

For those of you who know nothing about Amazon, this book is probably for you. It does a great job explaining the steps and how to do the basics of amazon marketing.

The reason I rated it a two was because of the marketing. You see, the book tells me that it is going to reveal "Secrets" yet most of what was in the book can be found on amazon.com. So I was not very impressed as I had my expectations set VERY high. These expectations were set because of the authors marketing. If you are going to state high expectations, I feel you have to go beyond the readers expectations.

Sometimes I feel people just create books that don't really have a purpose but filling pages so that they can do better on marketing other books. Not sure if this is the case, but I got the vibe it was created as another marketing tool.

With that being said, if this is true, then there is also brilliance behind it. So the final recommendation is, if you are interested in someone who is good at marketing a book on amazon, this is probably a good book for the beginner.

But, I would not get hyped up about "The Secrets" behind what he has. Because I knew most of the stuff before I read the book.

Have a blast and hope it helped.

My own books have been posted on Amazon.com for at least a decade. Until I read Sampson's book I had no idea how many ways there were on this board to sell more of my works. Because Amazon doesn't make it easy to find the many features it offers (excluding the merchandise they sell) writing on how to sell one's books efficiently on this board is not an easy task. The author refers to this confusion many times.
I have only one major criticism of Sampson's work. Though he does refer in passing to novels, he does not seem to appreciate the difference between how-to books and fiction. It is easy to find cook books (one of the author's favorite examples) and compare them to an author's new work dealing with this subject. A novelist tries to be UNLIKE other authors. This even applies to writers of mysteries and science fiction books that fall into a very specific genre. So how would a novelist find other books that are comparable to his own work? I believe Sampson should have elaborated in greater detail on this subject.

But, what I've learned from this book, I GUARANTEE will at minimum, double my monthly sales!

Dirty Sally

"Sell Your Book on Amazon" will help! This clearly written book has sufficient detail so you can figure out how to sell your book on Amazon.com. I've been able to implement the strategies effectively and create new sales for my books.

Brent offers a simplified explanation of how to utilize the very dynamic web resource that Amazon has become. Brent takes us step by step through the marketing options available to authors/publishers on Amazon and ranks them according to their importance. And then explains how to get the most out of them.

The point for an author is sell books, and Brent takes you by the hand and leads you through the process, in a way that makes it easy. I thought I "knew" Amazon really well, but I have learned a lot since reading this book

If you have a book or books to sell, I'd highly recommend reading this book. Amazon is here to stay, and authors need to know how to maximize their use of Amazon to sell more books. Reading this book, will do just that for you

For those of you who are interested in my book, I have written a children's book entitled; Dirty Sally........The untold stories of mixed race kids who find a new identity, love, faith and forgiveness through GOD.
There is an interesting story behind the title. I was often taunted or teased about being biracial. Some of my family members and friends called me Dirty Sally. Dirty Sally is an old slavery term used to identify the descendants or offspring of Sally Hemings, a former slave and the late President Thomas Jefferson.

Sally Hemings was biracial her mother was ½ white and ½ black and her father white. This book focuses on the misconceptions surrounding racial identity and the importance of choosing one's racial identity. Dirty Sally is a must read not only for inter-racial families, but for all parents hoping to instill in their children a sense of understanding and compassion. I believe that change requires resistance and within that process we can help heal some of the wounds that continue to inflict on racially mixed children. Purchase available on Amazon.com the ISBN# is 9781432707743

Sell Your Book on Amazon is a very helpful book for any author who wants to maximize their profits from their published books. A main premise of the book is to publish your book via an on-demand or self-publishing company. By doing this, an author can reap greater profits, rather than the publisher or Amazon taking up to 90% of the revenue.

While the book has many helpful hints on publicizing your book on Amazon, an underlying problem though with it is that it does not address the fact that a good book is not about publicity, sales secrets or hype, rather it all about the content. A good book can generate its own buzz and spawn greater sales with a little help. But a lousy book is a lousy book and any attempt to make it a best seller via Internet publicity will likely fail, and give the author a bad reputation.

The problem is that a book like this can make a lousy author think they can get their book on the New York Times best seller list. It is simply not that easy. An author selling their book on Amazon is no different than a singer selling their songs on iTunes; it is all about the content.

That is why I have a problem with one of the suggestions in chapter 2, where the author writes "I will reiterate this several times throughout this book, because it's true: one of the best ways to sell more books on Amazon is to publish more books". The author uses economy of scale to justify this based on promoting a book. This is an absurd premise on which to write a book. But economies of scale will only work when there is a quality product. Churning out books on Amazon and relentlessly promoting them is an unlikely way to generate sales unless there is something worth reading.

Any aspiring writer should first ensure that they have the capabilities to write a good book. While self-publishing can generate more profits, one of the benefits of publishing through an established publishing company is that they will vet the book in advance to make certain the author can write, and that the book is likely to generate sales. Such a process makes sure the inferior author's books stay unwritten.

Most potential writers should first spend some time honing their writing skills. After they do that and are able to create quality content, should the use a book such as this to help sales. If an author does that in this order, they will likely be successful. But writing a book in the hope that hype and sales secrets will make it sell will almost certainly be a formula for failure.

This book has a lot of information that is easy to understand, but it is outdated in some areas. That is not the fault of the author. The internet is changing every day and it's difficult to keep up with the technology.

First and foremost, a real big thank you to Brent Sampson!!! Though my schedule is beyond belief, I was still able to manage a couple of tips from 'Sell Your Book on Amazon, and let me tell you "IT REALLY WORKED". Just for kicks and giggles I also applied some similar tactics to Barnes and Noble and low and behold, my rank there has been steady at 12,000 or less for two solid months. During the Memorial holiday weekend my rank at barnes dropped to an astounding 139!!!!!!!!!! Obviously, these methods work.
My novel 'LOVE RETURNS THROUGH THE PORTAL OF TIME' has been the most exciting experience of my life. And I express once again, my gratitude to Brent Sampson, and of course, Outskirtspress for this most wonderful opportunity to touch the world with my love story via "top secret" sales tactic tips GAURANTEED to increase sales. I am living proof Brent Sampson's book really works. It cannot be denied. All you need to do is CHECK MY SALES RANK to confirm my testament. I am excited just thinking about how many more opportunities I have waiting for me when I get the chance to apply more of Brent's tips. If things continue on this path, I plan on marketing more of my stories full time. And spending a lot more time with my kids at home. Color me one very happy author. 'Sell Your Book on Amazon' is well worth your time. Think about it. Why write a book if you don't plan on selling it? Since you wrote the book, why not sell it? You have my vote, Brent. And thanks again. -- K S Michaels

I have mixed feelings about this book. At times I loved it; other times I threw it across the room. The information on writing reviews, Listmania, and So You'd Like To...Guides was extremely valuable. Knowing how Amazon uses this information to get more exposure for your book is worth the price of the book.

But there were a lot of questions that remained unanswered. Author Connect was somewhat confusing. I asked quite a few people to access an author's profile page and no one succeeded. Amazon customers will follow the path of least resistance. If these are so well hidden that Brent has to give you a web address to put in to find it, how are the readers supposed to uncover this "useful" information? They won't. I understand that isn't the Brent's fault, but why should I spend my time doing something potential buyers can't find, even if it's free!

Buy X Get Y could have been more detailed. There is more to pairing books than selecting a title. Is it worthwhile to pair your book with a top selling title that has a one or a two-star review as a Spotlight Review? What if the title you select is in the top 10 in sales, but sells for 1/2 the price of yours? Is it a good match? I don't expect Brent to do all the work, but I do feel these are valid questions that should have been addressed.

If you look at most of the 5 star reviews, you will see that they are nothing more than shameless self-promotions of books written by the reviewers. That should tell you something.

This is one of the most focused and useful books I have ever read. Since I have a book that is about to be published and since Amazon is the preeminent place to sell books, this step-by-step manual to maximizing the likelihood of selling loads of books is heaven sent.

The author goes through every possible method of promoting your books with the broad range of tools that Amazon provides. Even better, he ranks them with stars that tell you which are the most important so that you can focus your efforts appropriately.

The book gives concise but complete descriptions of what the tools are, how they work, and how you can benefit from using them correctly.

If you have written a book and are selling on Amazon.com, this is absolutely essential reading.

I have been writing children's stories for my grandchildren for many years. I have often been told "You ought to have these published!" I thought that this was flattering but not very practical for an average guy who has his hand's full just making a living. Now, finally due to Brent Sampson's book "Sell Your Book on Amazon" I have a coach who can tell me how to operate as a Self-Published Writer! If you are a senior as I, this can be a whole new ballgame! Since P.O.D. (Print On Demand) has been available the chance to realize your dreams is here! Ideas on how to market on the internet as well as on your own open up unlimited opportunities for success! No obligation to fill your garage with books to sell, hoping by some miracle that you will again have room to park your car!
I now have my first children's book published! It is a thrill to see it advertised on Amazon and Barnes-Noble on the internet. Many more people can see my book offerred for sale than I could ever contact. I am now preparing my second book for publication. If you have something to offer but are hesitating because of the unknown, I strongly suggest that you add "Sell Your Book on Amazon" to your library.
I can truthfully say "I'm not afraid at eighty!"

I bought this book to help me market my first novel, a sexy, funny mystery. I have to say it's everything it's advertised to be. A great primer on how to create your profile and leverage the social networking and intelligent suggestion algorithms of Amazon to get out the word. I'm doing it just by writing this review (and notice the link at the end - sweeeet!).

This is a short read - not many pages, big type, wide margins. But that also means there's no filler. You can pick up this book, grab a highlighter and a bunch of page markers, and within an hour or two have a great fast plan to get your book noticed.

I'm glad I started my research with this book. Highly recommended.

As I wrote in my latest novel,Standup Comedian: The Secret and Beyond "My father is in the baling wire generation, my son is in the digital generation, but I am in the duct tape generation. My point? The guide is written so that even I understand the suggestions and how to implement them. I am in the process of doing that right now as I write this review.

I read the book, and now I am going back through doing the easiest suggestions first and will progress to the more involved marketing efforts as I come to them. If only I had know this information when I published my first novel,Beyond the Shadow of Death: Book One of the Adam Eden Series.

Well, I must admit that I wish I had found this book before I published my first ten books, but all is not lost since I am in the process of writing twenty (20) more in 2008.

This book and the information contained within are essential reading for any author who sells his or her books on Amazon. Simple easy to follow instructions on how to get the most out of Amazon in regards to making your books a financial and physical success on Amazon by utilizing all the tools that Amazon provides.

I have already started implementing some of the steps in this book and will hopefully be doing all of them by the end of this week.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough for absolutely everyone who is selling a book or books on Amazon. This is the best money I have spent in any format on selling more books on Amazon. Pick up this book immediately and start implementing the information provided in it even sooner.

(Hide Review...)  Pretty good guide to getting increased attention for your book

The book by Brent Sampson is very helpful and easy to follow. It is sort of like having a coach standing over your shoulder, giving you hints and pointing out little-known Amazon tricks. I dug right in and did some of the easy things he suggested to get more attention from Amazon.com for my own book, "For Widows Only!" I only wish I had had "Sell Your Book on amazon" earlier.

Amazon is where most people familiar with the Internet turn for information about a book and to order it. I have to hope Amazon doesn't get greedy and start limiting access to PODs and self-published books. I find that to be one of their primary assets, the one-stop shop for ALL books. I always know I can find it on amazon.com

I might not have thought to write a review of this book, without "Sell Your Book on amazon" suggesting such a thing. Simple to do, but quite effective. Recently I am beginning to get more reviews for "For Widows Only!" and I can see that this has affected sales. Readers beget readers. Amazon's review process is the old "Word of Mouth" system updated to the electronic age, and instead of influencing one person at a time, we might influence 10, 50 or 100! Who knows?

I suspect Sell Your Book... will be around through several updates. Easy to use and indispensable for authors who are trying to help their book sales.

Consider this a publishing book for dummies, a page by page look into the marketplace and how you can effectively get market placement.

Brent Sampson describes numerous steps that one can take to increase the sales of books through Amazon. These steps, most of which are not at all obvious to an author new to this type of marketing, are relatively simple. As such an author, I plan to implement at least some of Sampson's suggestions in marketing my book, "Extra-Terrestrial Civilizations in Our Neighborhood," which makes a serious estimate of the likelihood that one or more technical civilizations exists on a planet within a thousand light years from us. The World I Imagine: A Creative Manual for Ending Poverty and Building Peace; Lion's Pride

I'm just two-thirds of the way through SELL YOUR BOOK ON AMAZON, and I've already upgraded my two books' Amazon web pages. I know there are still quite a few hot tips to follow in the last third of the book. The information Brent Sampson offers is not merely for self-published authors but for all writers, as well as anyone who sells anything on Amazon--or on the rest of the internet.

Like everything Sampson writes, this book is full of practical, useful, and easy to accomplish steps that help readers accomplish their goals. He shows us how we can help ourselves by being positive forces in the writing and internet community. That, after all, is what I write about, often on a global level, in my own nonfiction work!

I'm a retired engineer not well versed in the internet (I grew up with a slide rule rather than a computer). After some 40 years of tutoring high school students, I wrote my book, Your Personal Math Tutor: An Engineer Looks at Math, a self-help high school math book that supplements the textbooks. I needed some guidance in marketing via the internet. Sell Your Book on Amazon seemed to fill the bill.
There are a number of things I liked about this book. First, it isn't bulky (less filling). There is plenty of room in the broad margins for writing notes that apply specifically to my situation. I was able to go through half the book in the first sitting. That means he said what he needed to say without all the blah-blah-blah. He comes right down to the point.
Works great because I had to change the description of my book. Something got screwed up somehow in the computer system, making it seem like it was about an office romance! NOT! Following Brent's directions allowed me to do that with no problem! I was amazed! Now, someone who is looking for some serious help in high school math can find me in the net.
Thanks Brent. You made my day!
