I sent this back, not what I would call attitude elevating. This book is written in bullet points and many different fonts and in bold. Better poster material than authentic-self attitude lifting.

I really wanted to like this book. To give you an idea of how hard it is to do that, by the third page he has already told you that he's going to proliferate the YES!Attitude product line indefinitely. By the next page, he's solicited your ideas to leverage it and make money together. Oh, and did I mention, right around then he warms you *never* to use the phrase YES!Attitude in any presentation you might do without his express permission because he owns all rights to it. Basically, a marketing ploy dressed up as a book. And just way to smug and self-satisfied for my tastes. You expect rah-rah, but he's too busy patting himself on the back to even cheer. Sorry to the other reviewers, but I think this is only 1 star.

The YES!Attitude may be the second best book I have read. I am sure there is one better but I haven't found it yet. I have read it four times and am reading it for the fifth time not because I am slow learner but rather because the lessons are worth learning. I have read most of the reviews of the book on this site and all I can say to those who gave it a poor rating that sometimes people read the words but fail to grasp the meaning. As I read this I could only imagine what a wonderful world this would be if everyone adopted the ideas and concepts of this book. Contrary to some of the reivews I found an Aha on almost every page. Every time something happens that I don't like I now think of the book and more specifically, "I don't like what's happening but I know I am going to learn something really great" or words to that effect. I have taken it a step further. I wear a necklace beneath my shirt that I use to remind myself everytime I see or feel it that being positive is a choice and I choose to be positive. I am purchasing 20 copies to give to my 4 children and my best friends.

This is a fantastic book that communicates. If you are now searching for more than your inspirational quotes book or your motivational pictures and posters, I recommend this book. This book points you in the right direction in your journey for self-improvement. Simple and straight shooting instead of some books, just as informative, but may have overwhelming story telling. It sets up a great foundation for a better mindset and attitude. For the well-versed in the self-help arena, the Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude, solidifies, simplies and certifies the major principles of a positive attitude. Overall, after reading the book, you'll see how to improve a positive attitude with a YES! attitude.

I purchased this book after buing Mr. Gitomer's Little Platinum Book of Cha-Ching, which has made a difference in my life.
This book, as has been indicated before, is nothing particuarly new (but, as has also been indicated before, little self-improvement or achievement literature is truly new, just restated). I would argue that it is not simplistic, but instead subtle - I have reread it two times after my initial read, and only in the repeated readings are some of the subtlties coming out. Certainly if you are looking for a great introductory book to achievement and self improvement, you'd be hard pressed to beat this one. It's positive, upbeat, and has great packaging. Jeffrey has a way with words and a way with attitude. I find this book refreshing, exciting, invigorating, empowering and motivating. Jeffrey's words of wisdom are right on, and places the responsibility squarely where it belongs: On each of us as individuals. I appreciate the contribution he is to each of us who read his work.

In 1952, Norman Vincent Peale set the ground rules for self-improvement with his classic book, The Power of Positive Thinking, and motivational speaker and sales strategy guru Jeffrey Gitomer takes his cues from that seminal tome (he respectfully refers to it as a must-read on page 58). The little gold book is indeed true to its description, as its eye-catching cover and portable size visually reflects Gitomer's self-empowering attitude. Once you open the book, you notice a lot of large, emphatic headlines and font sizes that you're more likely to see in a children's book. There are even humorous cartoons by Randy Glasbergen scattered throughout to emphasize the heightened sensory experience that the author is evoking. The philosophy behind the book will be familiar to anyone who has read Rhonda Byrne's The Secret or Michael Losier's Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don't, but Gitomer's treatment, the ethos behind what he dubs a "YES! Attitude", is intentionally more cursory in treatment in order to provide the sound bites that are more likely to stay with the reader.
The 200-page book consists of what he defines as the "5.5" elements in shaping a "YES! Attitude". The author explains how it is more complex than the simple projection of positive thinking but more accurately, a constant daily lifestyle choice. Designed to assess where you are in your attitude, Gitomer's first element is "Insight to Your Inside Attitude", in which he provides tests and scorecards to rate the reader's attitude. The second element is called "Attitude Self Awareness". This is where he provides a reading list of four books, including Peale's book, and recommends reading from one of them for at least fifteen minutes a day. Included in this chapter are "20.5" attitude gems, such as "self-talk equals self-performance" and "failure is an event, not a person". The most valuable is #20.5 - "resign your position as general manager of the universe". He also provides "3.5" attitude awareness elements that are designed to lead the reader to action. The third element, "Attitude Actions" identifies the "15.5" ways of making a change in attitude, such as realizing people have a choice, attending seminars on attitude, celebrating defeats as well as victories, and reading about how others initiate and embrace positive experiences. "Attitude Attributes" is the fourth element and reinforces the points made in the previous sections with a discussion of life philosophies and personal development. The mush sought-after "A-Ha!" moment is the subject of the fifth element, "Attitude Achievement", the turning point where one's positive attitude goes unencumbered. Gitomer ends the book with the ".5" element, "Attitude Fulfillment", which explains the difference between success and fulfillment and summarizes all his points. Gitomer has produced an energetic book full of good thoughts. While I did not find his observations incredibly revelatory, they provide good reminders not to veer off course by circumstances over which none of us have control. The author effectively shows how we can control our attitude and respond productively to adversity, whether it occurs in our professional or personal lives. This book will draw attention to you as you laugh out loud, nod your head and look for a pen to underscore sections, take tests and rate your own attitude. It is a fast, fun read. Gitomer puts into perspective your relationships - those that are good and valuable and those you might want to shed for better ones. It will also encourage serious soul searching while breaking up the weighty thoughts with plenty of comic relief.

I think this is a great book for anybody that needs an attitude adjustment or not. It is just a very good book with exercises in the book to help you realize what you are doing that could be setting you back or negative. Or what you are not doing that can help you improve and be more positive. It makes you think and ponder. Most people think they have a positive attitude. You may be surprised after taking his evalution tests whether you are. This book helps you go from a positive attitude to a Yes Attitude which is even better. Read the book it is definitely worth your time. And then say YES!

Maybe 5 pages out of the whole book ENCOURAGED you to BECOME Positive with a YES attitude. The rest of the book was FLUFF.
He writes books...that's his job. He needs to sell books to buy the Beemer. Did this book help me become MORE Positive?..... NO Did it tell me how to become MORE Positive?..... NO. So I went ahead and bought the "Magic of Thinking BIG" from Amazon instead. ONE STAR because I liked the cover of the book. Very overpriced and does NOT deliver. Honestly, I wanted to dislike this book. It seemed shallow and more like a powerpoint presentation than a book.
Let's start: too simplistic, dumbed-down. Obvious. A rehash of what I already know. A huckster pushing a product... But I have to admit that I just found it useful. I actually started to read it for 15 minutes a day in the morning - every weekday. And I actually found that it did help my attitude, that it did help me move forward and respond more positively to those around me. That it did help me take an extra moment when I am about to say something negative... and think it over. I've started adopting various ideas from the book... and they help. I'm almost embarrassed by liking this book. But it has been worth 10x the cover price to me. In the end - well, I just will say "thanks". (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-08-29 21:12:47 EST)

Again another great book from Jeffery Gitomer. I discovered him lately, however I consider him one of the greatest contemporary writer about sales and motivational. Like other books also the Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude is easy to read, I am not a native English speaker, direct to the subject, full of common sense and the last, but not the least, 100% applicable everyhwere.

One of the best PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) books I've read in a long long time. Easy to read in a day or two, you won't want to put it down.
Short & concise answers to how to get motivated, be happy and start making a success of your life. Some typical American words and clichés are used but they do not detract from the books power to give you a good kick you in the butt, get up and make something of your life. The layout of using different sizes & colours of text and the pictures make it delight to read. Unlike other PMA books, it's not padded with "I knew this bloke once who...." and in many places Jeffrey is very witty and funny. Keep this one by your beside & get inspired every morning with a passage or two. TURN THAT DEPRESSING TV NEWS OFF NOW & GET THIS BOOK INSTEAD! Use your precious time more wisely. Jeffrey Gitomer has put together a slick, well-packaged piece, complete with a colorful layout, bullet points, catch phrases and a carefully designed Yes! logo prominently displayed at the top of each page. To his credit, he tells you up front that he has trademarked the phrase "Yes! Attitude," and plans to market more books, courses and products in the future. So, you shouldn't be surprised that his Little Gold Book reads somewhat like a PowerPoint presentation. However, his basic premise is solid. Achieving and keeping a positive attitude can improve your life at home and at work. Gitomer's snippets of advice suggest, for example, beginning each day with a positive thought, avoiding negative people and situations, and spending time with upbeat, successful people. Stretching these simple principles and others into a book took ingenuity, repetition and lots of large type. On the flip side, this showy presentation makes it an easy read for someone looking for a quick fix of inspiration. We suggest keeping it on your bedside table as a resource for starting every day with a positive thought.

I confess I am usually a sucker for this genre of motivational self-help books. I thought Gitomer's "Little Black Book of Contacts" was superb. I think he laid a repetitious egg, a repetitious egg, a repet - oh, well, you get the idea.
He takes a simple idea - that we need a good attitude -- and pumps it up with so much hype and hot air, you could power a small city for weeks with the methane given off. The idea could be expressed in two pages but he uses lots of EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!! and large print, cartoons and icons to stretch this into a book. Nice try, Jeffrey, but there are likely 10.5 reasons why I thought the book laid an egg. (Your mileage may vary.) Like chicken soup for your motivation -- it won't hurt and it may help. This is the second book from Jeffrey that I have purchased. His material is neither new nor terribly detailed. However, I read his little book chiefly as a reminder of what I already know and fail to do. The book does have some nice quotes and let's not dismiss the colorful and glossy pages that make the book aesthetically attractive. It's a nice book to keep on your nightstand to read a page or two every now and then for inspiration.

Until I received this book I preached the power of positive thinking to my business classes. After reading this book I have been preaching Yes attitude to them. I carry the book to class and add a quote or two to each class by way of demonstration.
The fun approach adopted in the book sets an effective tone to commence class and to lighten things up a little as we get into the serious stuff. The Randy Glasbergen cartoons peppered throughout the book add a nice touch to the delivery. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-10 16:26:25 EST)

This book is pretty much like other positive attitude books but the tone if this one is especially enthusiastic. I am not in sales but this book can apply to anyone who wishes to develop a more positive attitude. Basically Mr. Gitomer encourages the reader to surround themselves with positive influences, including reading two pages of a positive book each morning, surrounding themselves with positive people, and even enrolling in a Dale Carnegie course. Very practical.

Unlike other positive thinking books I've read, Gitomer's book on the YES Attitude surpasses them all. Here's why: he breaks the idea of the YES Attitude down into basic parts, dissects those parts into very easy to read and understand language that anyone with a 8th grade education can assimilate. Now for the hard part of the equation: you have to actively place those ideas into motion in your own life. It will be a reference book for me. One that I will need to read over and over again. Thank you Jeffrey!

I love all of Gitomer's books. I have re-read his little red book of sales answers book 4 times.
Like Gitomer recommends... It is not knowing it is doing. It is not saying "oh I already know that." It is asking yourself, "How good am I at that?" I recommend his books to any investment marketing or sales person that I work with. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-06 04:25:01 EST)

Jeffrey Gitomer knows how to write about selling . . . I've read
and enjoyed two of his other books--THE LITTLE RED BOOK OF SELLING and THE SALES BIBLE . . . in each instance, I found myself taking copious notes . . . that's always a good sign; i.e., it shows there is something that I wish to retain and/or share with others. The same thing happened when I devoured JEFFREY GITOMER'S LITTLE GOLD BOOK OF YES! ATTITUDE . . . it took me just a few hours to read, but that's misleading in that after I finished, I had to go back to revisit much of it . . . and I'm sure I will continue to do so in the future, in that it is that good. Perhaps most importantly, Gitomer got me to think about what's important in life . . . for example, when feeling down, he advises that all you need to do is: Visit a children's hospital or help someone less fortunate than you. Get comfortable with the plight of others, and feel good about the minuteness of your problems compared with theirs. I also liked his advice on how to find out about the weather: Poke your head outside in the morning. It's a lot more accurate than the weather guy. The above might seem basic, but if you're like me, you need to be reminded of it every so often . . . likewise, Gitomer urges you to think the following when it comes to making money: Most people get into a career to "make money." There could not be a worse reason to enter a profession. The best way to amass a lot of money in a career is to earn it. And, also, I liked the author's shortest goal lesson in life: Post your goals (in front of your face) on your bathroom mirror, and say them twice a day. Once achieved, post your accomplishments on your bedroom mirror so you can start each day by looking at your success. Lastly, Gitomer constantly offers readers the opportunity to gain even more from his book by references to his website . . . one free offer promises you his collection of personal quotes for your personal inspiration . . . please excuse me while I go get that now. I'm not sure how I discovered this little gem, but I was obviously in the mood for something upbeat - and that's what this book delivers. Gitomer isn't all that different from thousands of self-help authors that have come before him. He even gives away the secret of his success on page 8 when he tells the reader that he has 982 books on positive mental attitude and personal development in his own library.
There's little doubt that everything in this Gitomer book can be found in one or more of the books in his library. But here's the difference: Gitomer is a showman, a one-man revue of positive thinking. Every page sparkles with the force of Gitomer's personality and his relentless (if ancient) message: you are what you think. You can dip in anywhere and come up with a handful of bright, shining attitudinal nuggets to carry you through a bad moment, a bad day, maybe even a bad year. He intersperses quotations from self-help classics with his own kind of homespun advice. Some of it just plain corny: "If you think I'm nuts, you may be right. But I'm a nut with a positive attitude, baby." And does it ever show. In a hundred years, there will probably be no mention of Jeffrey Gitomer in any history books. Maybe not even in twenty years. But the guy is definitely in the "now". An effective self-promoter of his own self-help regimen, sales consultancy and a bunch of other businesses. He claims to deliver more than 120 live seminars a year. I think he'd be a treat to see: I get the idea that he could light up a string of Christmas tree lights with his own energy. In any event, the "Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude" is a handy thing for your desk. Pull it out whenever you need a little does of attitude improvement. I didn't feel I got my money's worth out of this book. Most all of the concepts were tried and true things I had heard/learned before. I'm still a Gitomer fan, but I did not feel this was his best work.

I originally bought this for 4 of my managers who needed to get to the next level and ended up buying 7 more for the rest of the team. The book is easy to read, smart, funny and makes it clear - it will not change your life unless you change your habits. I am a very positive person (even his test said so! :-) but I found great help in this book to take me to the next level. Great book!

When I first saw this title for Mr. Gitomer's new book I thought that it was just his attempt at earning more money and that he just threw this book together. However since I own his previous works I gave a chance and WOW! I'm going to write the "Little Purple Book of WOW!" This book is powerful in every way Gitomer in his matter of fact way assists the reader (student) in understanding where "True" motivation and action come from and how to harness it for maximum results. This is a must have as well as all of his other works.

I love all the other books by this author on selling. I could not go past the first chapter of Yes attitude. Jeffrey is excellent author on sales books, but not on attitude. Boring book, don't waste your money on this one. Buy the others on selling instead. I do not recommend.

Jeffrey Gitomer is a master. He builds with confidence and subtlety arguments that ignite change into you. This book is a must for everyone. I'm only at chapter 4 and I'm taking my time to absorb every single page of this book.

This book is a perfect tool to be utilized in the quest for a postive attitude. Easy to read and re-read over and over. Think of this as the Cliffs Notes of Positive Attitude only a lot more powerful. Gitomer is one of my favorite teachers and if you want to really impact your life buy this book, read it, execute it and live by it.

Full disclosure: I like Jeffrey Gitomer. I've read all of his Little Books. I just read that he plans to publish two a year for the next ten years. I think I can go along with that.
But not everyone likes Jeffrey. My experience is that he is not an acquired taste either. You love him or hate him at first blush. Two people who I've tried to pass this book onto have been on the opposite side. My first foray into learning about positive attitude was on September 12, 2001 when I purchased both Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking" and "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. In the post 9/11 days, they both served me well and I realized why they were classics. Jeffrey points out that positive thinking/attitude is not something most of us have been trained in. If we have taken some courses, they still aren't enough. He goes onto to give, in a very succinct fashion how to get a better attitude. (Unlike many authors, he makes a point to say you will only be better after reading this book and on the path, not cured.) Of particular note is the formula for Yes!Attitude achievement. The Little Gold Book of Yes! Attitude is a modern (attitude) classic. It is up there with the books I mentioned. They only negative, and this jumped out at me very quickly, is a disclaimer on page 7 which reads, "Watch out for the trademark. I have trademarked the phrase YES!Attitude and will be creating more books, classroom courses, online courses, and helpful products ad infinitum." If I wasn't a fan I would have put this on the trash pile straight away after reading that. A must read in my opinion but, again, I'm biased. Here is to your Yes!Attitude. I mean Yess!AttitudeTM (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-04-27 01:15:40 EST)

I bought and read a lot, a lot of BOOKS, but I enjoy Tom Peters and Gitomer's books most. I bought all of TP and Gitomer's books, and read and reread them time to time.
Sales Bible is THE bible book of Selling. And all of Gitomer's books are GOOD. This one is no Exception. A series of LISTS, all are motivating, and make sense. It is a good reading for encouragement, especially when we are down. The series are interesting: Red Book of Selling, Red Sales Answer, Black book of Connection, Yellow of YES attitudes, and (coming) Green book. All in similar format, and all are good selling. ;-) I do a lot of seminars and corporate training, and i often use some of Gitomer's stuffs and they are all good. So this book is good for salesman, trainner, and just about anyone to keep the positive attitude UP. There are many many LISTS and QUOTES and colorful cartoon, and interesting pages of great stuffs. Buy an enjoy.... (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-04-27 01:15:40 EST)

Fun, fast read. Right to the point. Your attitude is what makes your life good or bad. So get a grip on it. Make it part of your day like brushing your teeth or exercising. You have to hang out with people who are positive, read positive stuff and stop talking about useless depressing crap you can't do anything about! Great book. I highly recommend it!

I did not know who Jeffrey Gitomer was until he took over the Selling Power Live roll. Since that time, and reading all his books I have
gained respect for his knowledge, his committment and candor. The #1 piece of gold I have mined from Jeffrey is "Write as you would speak". I have read just about every sales, marketing and motivational book printed in the last 15 years and in most cases they say the same things... Sometimes the message is just a little more clear when Jeffrey writes/speaks it. Jeffrey's last 4 "little books" have been a joy to read. The last; "The Little Gold Book of Yes" is no exception... Please write/speak more and I look forward to each edition of SPL and Sales Caffeine.... (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-04-27 01:15:40 EST)
