Enchanted: Erotic Bedtime Stories For Women

Allow yourself to be drawn into a fantasy world like no other…where a beautiful princess is seduced into a love triangle with a handsome prince and her winsome maid…where a mysterious gentleman's young bride is deliciously disciplined for her unchecked curiosity…where a naive daughter is married off to a beast of a man whose carnal appetites awaken her budding desire….

With a unique and decidedly adult twist on thirteen classic fairy tales, Nancy Madore intrigues and arouses with her titillating, sizzling anthology of erotic stories guaranteed to keep you up late into the night.

You'll never look at fairy tales the same way again.

There is a fine line between erotica and pornography these days but Nancy Madore takes her place effortless on the side of erotica. The fairy tales in her book lack nothing but the obscene language and poor editing. There is a surprising amount of very graphic and shall we say "kinky" sex included, but it is put in a way that is very dignified. I liked what she did with the stories and how she kept true to them. The ones I recognized anyway. This was good. Nice job.

Many of the tales contained therein were told, not shown. Some of the stories were better than others, but a couple left me rather disappointed. The stories and ideas had potential, but ultimately fell flat.

What could have helped was to use more fairy tales, such as Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and what have you. A couple of the tales weren't really interesting or magical to start with, and didn't excite me. Frankly, I didn't feel that the money I spent on this book was worth it. Half the price would have been better for what I got.

Overall, three out of five for a decent read and effort, but nothing more.

This group of fairy tales was very steamy and original. It is explicit but written in an old fashioned way that I found extra exciting. Some of the more outstanding stories I thought were Beauty and the Beast, Cat and Mouse, Cinderella, The Empresses' New Clothes and Mirror on the Wall. There are many interesting and validating points made about women in the telling. I see by the reviews that some people did not like these ideas mixed in their erotica. While I'm not sure if I agree with every point made, I thought they gave the stories that same "moral of the story" feeling the original fairy tales had. Maybe that was this author's intention. It made the stories more thought provoking than most erotica I read. In my case it made the stories more enjoyable for me.

I was hoping that this book would focus on themes more appreciated by women, sadly it was just an exercise in stereotypes and ambiguous references to genetalia.

I think these stories were wonderful, sensual and charming. They weren't too erotic (which can be a turn off for some) and they helped me out of a "dry spell". The stories were told so well and kept me spellbound, a nice little escape from reality. I look forward to reading more of Nancy Madore's novels. I did get a chance to read "The Twelve Dancing Princesses". I really enoyed that book as well and highly advise anyone to purchase that book also.

Nancy Madore's premise for this collection of erotica was to "free" women sexually and fully engage ourselves as living, sexual beings. In several of the stories, Madore is able to do this very well. But at least half of these stories feel more like the author is preaching at the audience about how culture has corrupted women's image.. This is very clear is the "Mirror on the wall" story. She would sometimes just go off on tangents at the beginning of the book that would bore you, more than intrigue you or even spark discussion. She was too focused on her goal of "teaching" women how to be sexual beings again. I have always loved fairytales and how they have changed to suit the mores of the time, and I love romances/erotic writing, so I appreciated that combination, and will probably buy her follow-up. I just have to be prepared for a little preachiness.

I bought this together with Nancy Madore's other erotic fairy tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses as recommended by Amazon. Both were outstanding but surprisingly different. The tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses is very relationship oriented while the fairy tales in Enchanted are more for the single girl maybe? I don't know. I am single and I enjoyed both books. Nancy Madore's writing style is pleasant and not at all garish or tacky like some erotica you can find sometimes. It seemed more romantic. Kind of Victorian. The stories were definitely a turn on, but I have to admit, as I kept reading I was more interested in where the author was going with them next. These books were so cleverly written. Once I knew what was going to happen I would go back and read the story again and enjoyed it even more. This was especially true with the Twelve Dancing Princesses. Each princess has her own story. The story starts out with her secret problems with having sex with her husband (some are upset because they can't you know...not sure how to say it on Amazon, but just for all different reasons and some have other problems). These were all problems that regular women would relate to by the way. So as you're reading you're thinking, what the heck is she going to do for this one. But then afterwards you think, brilliant! I feel like I actually learned something from that book. But then in Enchanted you have more focus on kinky sexual fantasies. There are many ideas that get you thinking in Enchanted too. Madore has some interesting things to say about beauty and the body. But mostly, you are getting fantasy, fantasy and more fantasy. The stories were nicely diversified and you didn't feel like you got the same thing twice. Both books are clever, fun, sexual, and are pageturners, but if I were going to pick just one it would have to be the Twelve Dancing Princesses. Either would make a good gift for that woman who loves to read.

Bravo for the way this enchanting book was written! There was not one single dirty word in the book. But don't let that fool you. There is every sexy act you can imagine in here. Well, not everything, but most everything. Lets see, it starts with a very memorable beauty and the beast story, then some bondage in Bluebeard, then came a contest of wills in Cat and Mouse, and then it was on to a little teasing in Cinderella, oh, and we certainly can't forget the random stranger-in-the-dark sex in East/Sun West/Moon, and them came a little wife swapping action in Mrs. Fox, moving on to some exhibition action in Mirror on the Wall, I can't remember them all. What am I missing...there was a menage twa (spelling?)in the Goose Girl, and there was still a few more I think. On and on, as you can see there is a different plot in each of the 13 stories. I enjoyed all of them, but had a few favorites. Most everyone should be able to find something to love in this selection. It has a feel good fairy tale kind of thing to it as you read.

I enjoyed reading Nancy Madore's version of fairy tales like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Snow White, just to name a few. Her writing style mimics Grimms' fairy tales perfectly. But that's where the similarities end. This book is pretty much all sexual and best for bedtime reading like the cover says. The stories heat up really fast and stay that way. I appreciated that the fairy tales were not repetitive but each very different from the others. There is something for everyone in this selection. All in all it was exciting and fun to read. I can't imagine anyone not liking this.

I bought this based on various reviews that I had read. It was very bland, and not what I expected at all. I thought it would be more along the lines of Sleepy Beauty triology, i.e. fairy tales with a nice, erotic twist. These stories were so boring and some of them were disturbing in general. I'm not sure what this book should be classified, but it's not erotica. Rather than moving a woman forward in her sexuality, it seems to promote demeaning them. I would recommend Lora Leigh, Shayla Black, or the Sleeping Beauty triology rather than this book. It could have been so much better...

I liked this immensely and I think its success is due partly to the unusual adaption of classic fables. It works very well and it is very erotic and I wonder if someone will take this genre a stage further and write erotic stories about super heroes like Batman and Superman. It gives the man of steel label a whole new connotation doesnt it. Recomend it highly. Also recently read and can recomend is 'Succulent Chocolate Flava' By Zane and 100 Percent Erotica by Suzie Van Aartman.

(Hide Review...)  BEST I'VE READ IN A LONG TIME
Reviewer Permalink
These fairy tales are definitely written for women. I think every man should read them too. I thought I was getting a book of naughty fantasies but I got so much more. I have no idea how Nancy Madore did it but she described every detail of what goes on between the sheets without a single dirty word. And it was just as exciting or maybe even more without the nasty lingo. That's the first thing I noticed. Another thing that got me was that every story was different and unique. Each one had a fantasy of its own. Some of these collections can get dull with the same thing over and over. There are thirteen stories in Enchanted and each one is different from the others. I will get into more of that in a minute. The other thing I have to mention is what goes on between the lines. I was impressed big time with what Nancy Madore had to say. One example is in her story called Mirror on the Wall, which is the classic evil stepmother story. Madore delves into the motives of the evil stepmother with compassion and wisdom. Every woman whose ever been depressed about getting older can relate to this. The points she made were well taken. The stories left me breathless, but the book overall made me feel good. This was the first book of erotica I ever wanted to share with my husband. And I didn't have to force him to read it either.

I can't say which of the fairy tales was my favorite. I liked them all. Beauty and the Beast was just how it sounds. I used to wonder how she could fall in love with a horrible beast until now. I get it now! That reminds me of another thing I liked about the book. There are no body descriptions about the female characters. No perfect bodies. None of that. Madore explains all that in her introduction. I have to admit I liked it much better without it. Bluebeard is another story which gets a little kinky but it doesn't seem so bad when it is described with such finesse. I'll just say it has a few whips and chains in it and leave it at that. Cat and Mouse was fantastic and I'm not even sure what the fantasy was in that one. Maybe dominance. I don't know but I liked it whatever it was. There was a kind of friction between the characters that was very sexual. Cinderella answers the typical question of what happens after the prince marries the girl. This story also had a lot of strong points that give you something to think about. And it doesn't take away from the story at all. East of the Sun...was one that I read several times over and my husband enjoyed it too. It had the stranger in the dark fantasy that is so exciting. Moving on Goldilocks gets three barons instead of three bears. That one should be self explanatory. I was surprised again by how Madore can write about something like that without making you feel like your reading smut. Mirror on the Wall I already mentioned. That one put a kind of twist on the voyeurism fantasy when the evil stepmother watches herself in the mirror. Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Wolfe trade husbands on the sly for a night without them finding out. Snow White has a grand old time with the dwarves in the woods. I was personally glad Madore let them become handsome princes. Otherwise that one might have been creepy. The Empresse's New Clothes was an absolutely fantastic story of exhibitionism. The detail in that story just blew me away. Again without one dirty word. Amazing. The Goose Girl was the only story I didn't care for. The fantasy in that one didn't do a thing for me. It has a love triangle with two women and a man. The Sheep in Wolve's Clothing has a fantasy I don't think I can say on Amazon so I'll let that one be a surprise. The Ugly Duckling was a beautiful love story that brings the book to an end. I don't know what the fantasy was in that one but I absolutely loved the points that Nancy Madore makes about beauty and women.

This book was just wonderful. Very entertaining and uplifting. I was excited to find erotica that offered more than just sex.

This is my first erotic book and it isn't bad for beginners. All of the stories are different. You're likely to find some that you like and some that you don't. Some go into more detail than others. I found three of the stories to be really interestig. However, I also found a few that focused on the backround more than sex.

In this enchanting collection of fairy tales Nancy Madore captures the fantasies of women to perfection. The tales are graphic without graphic language. The storytelling is enthralling. All the stories were noteworthy, but a few stood out for me. The tale of BLUEBEARD was brilliantly reconstructed from a murderous monster who kept dead bodies in a secret room to a sexy husband who happens to have a secret room filled with instruments of delightful bondage. (I found it ironic that the "adult" version had less violence than the children's) This is one example of the very clever use Madore makes of the classic story plots in fairy tales. Madore does much examination into relationships too, like in CAT AND MOUSE, where she details the conflict that exists in relationships so sensually it will take your breath away. Without missing a beat or losing the mood, Madore validates a woman's innermost feelings in such stories as MIRROR ON THE WALL and THE UGLY DUCKLING. It was very liberating to read erotic stories that are written with such sensitivity. This is one you will definitely want to share with your husband or boyfriend.

Let me first say that I was very intrigued by the idea of reading my favorite fairy tales with a naughty twist. This book, however, was a bit of a disappointment. I applaud Ms. Madore for incorporating various fantasies throughout her book (to appeal to different sexual tastes). But I was VERY aggravted that she used this type of literature as a place to air her opinions of society. Several stories are almost weighted down by this. One in particualr, The Goose Girl, doesn't even involve sexuality. It's more about self-esteem, pride, and being successful as a woman. WHO CARES!! I am reading EROTICA to be turned on, and occasionally to run across a really interesting character or plot line. NOT TO HEAR WHAT AN AUTHOR THINKS IS WRONG WITH SOCIETY!! NOT IN EROTICA!! Perhaps she should seek a more suitable platform from which to spew her ridiculous ideas. (my first and last Madore read!)

I was enchanted with this bunch of fairy tales. The stories were re-told brilliantly. I could not put it down. Nancy Madore incorporates an erotic fantasy into each fairy tale and you would never think for a minute the stories were not intended to be told this way. For example, in her "Beauty and the Beast" which was my favorite, Beauty falls in love with a half man, half beast and the story really heats up without a single dirty word. Madore also takes every opportunity to show compassion for her characters while never missing a chance to score a point for women. An example of this is "Mirror on the Wall" where she re-writes the story of Snow White's evil step mother with enormous empathy for what a woman goes through during the aging process. This book made me feel good in more ways than one. I immediately put in my order for her new book, "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" and I can't wait to see what she does with that story, which is one of my favorite fairy tales of all times.

An absolutely wonderful book. Along with Suzie Van Aartman's 100 Percent Erotica, (which was so sexually explicit that I had to change my underwear after reading it) must probably rank as two of the greatest books of erotica ever written.100 Percent Erotica Nancy Madore's book gives us another unusual and refreshingly different angle on erotica, fitting the stories within our favourite fairy stories is a brilliant idea and gives a whole new dimension to the genre. It works and it works very well. Plus, they are short stories, so you can take them for a few minutes at a time, or as long as you like, whenever the feeling arises. I've always favoured the short story format over the sometimes long winded novel, some of which seem to take ages before anyone gets into bed. So this book gets my five stars and very deservedly so. Highly recommended for getting you in the mood for love, maybe you could even read it to your partner to get them in the mood as well. Bedtime Erotica is well worth looking at also.

After reading one story and then another and finding them not very erotic, I put the book away for a few days. It was very disappointing.
I am a huge fan of the Best Women's Erotica series. My appreciation of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice, led me to believe that I might enjoy this book. I was really disappointed. I do not recommend this if you are a fan of true erotica.

Everything about this book impressed me. First, the fairy tales provided the perfect backdrop for the erotic fantasies used. Another thing was that the fairy tales (the ones I remembered) were consistent with the originals in plot, content, etc. This made them feel right. The most amazing thing of all was that BOTH the erotic level and the literary level were way above average. I thought this was interesting, since most erotica is often not very well written. These stories had the feel of a classic novel but with the desired erotic effect. Madore states in her introduction that her writing is directed at women and in this too I was impressed. She found many ways to incorporate the woman's point of view in the story (as a example she tells one part of the Snow White story from the POV of the step mother in a way that most woman can relate). Madore makes these points without apology, just like the classic writers did (I was reminded a number of times of Oscar Wilde). But besides all the extra side dishes that you get with this wonderful little book of fairy tales you get an entertaining and stimulating reading experience.

Erotica is a new genre for this literature professor.

As a woman, I was looking for something titillating for women, but hetero. I found the early stories to fit the bill; however, as I ventured on into the collection of stories, I realized that the stories weren't so much "for women" as they were traditional MALE fantasies (more than one story featuring the woman in question enjoying either serial or simultaneous sex with several men at once, for example).

Not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you want.

But I was expecting something more. . . .woman-centered --not so much man-engulfing.

So to speak.

It is exciting to finally find a woman who knows how to write erotica for women. I have been disappointed in some of the 'women writing erotica' collections. They were either boring or annoying. These stories are entertaining and when your finished you want your sig other to read it too. The sex was just kinky enough and the storytelling kept you on pins and needles. But the most exciting part: there are so many good points in here about women and sex that afterwards you feel good. My favorite is Snow White. I hope Nancy Madore will be writing more of these?

After years of reading erotica and romance the same old thing starts to get a little stale, which is why I liked this book so much. It is fresh and very modern while at the same time written in classic 'fairy tale' form. I was blown away by the smart way Nancy Madore writes about sex. She doesn't just stick it in your face but tells the story so elequently you almost forget that the fantasies are so naughty. And a few of the fantasies are most certainly naughty, like in the case of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or Goldilocks and the three BARONS, but with Madore's presentation of it I was not offended. Her writing style fits somewhere in between D.H. Lawrence and Ann Rice.

I'm a big fan of the "fairytales retold" genre, and after reading reviews I had high expectations of this one. The writing style reminds me of victorian erotica, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but themewise felt like mellow erotica for the comfortably feminist gentle reader. I guess my personal kink factor is a little higher than the target audience. This is NOT the style/concept of the Anne Rice Sleeping Beauty, which is vastly higher on the sexually adventurous intensity scale. That all being said, this is a fine starter novel for a Lady's introduction to erotic reading. It has comfortably familliar fairytale themes, a self-empowerment message, nothing too shocking in language or content, and a couple of quite good scenes. I would definitely reccommend it to friends who have tried little erotica before, and might want a gentle introduction to pique thier curiosity.

Although the stories are interesting and do have an adult twist, I have trouble calling this collection "erotica." Many of the stories are too short with too much political backstory to really get into. It is an injustice to compare these stories to Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty novels. If you want a fairy tale complete with a moral at the end- these are interesting, but if you are looking for erotica- look somewhere else.

There are many erotic stories to be read, however, none of which remotely stand up to the all around high quality of this book. Nancy Madore has an ability to read a woman's mind and knows how to excite her senses better than the woman would know herself. Done with taste, class, cleverness, and pure passion, her retelling of once old bed time stories never ceases to amaze the reader with each page turned. Her retellings are instense and sensual, often unpredictible, which adds a mystery to the characters, leaving the reader yearning for more until satistfied, and that she does well. I highly recommend this book!

So I bought this book based on the title and some of the reviews that I had read. I tend to agree with most of the reviews, don't get me wrong it's an erotica, but it's also a bit insightful. It does give an interesting twist on the fairy tales that you'd remember as a kid. I think it's a good and quite interesting book.

This is not your average book of erotic short stories, the stories are erotic, but in a fresh way that I have not seen before. Madore casts a spell on the reader while she expertly re-tells fairytales as if they were meant to be erotic fantasy all the time. there is so much to these stories that I had to read some of them a few times to catch everything. I especially liked "Mirror on the Wall" which tells the story of the evil stepmother of snow white with amazing wisdom and simpathy. It was fascinating to find so much in a book of erotic short stories.

This is a must read for women. The erotica is exciting and fun, yes, but if you read between lines there is where the magic is. I was so impressed with what this author has to say. Her insights got me more excited than anything else. There are very few people who really get what erotica is to women and in my opinion Nancy Madore is one of them. Order this book. You will not regret it.

Upon discovering this little known book in its previous unavailable release, I was hooked, I had to have it and was just delighted to discover they were releasing it again with a gorgeous new cover. Upon opening its pages though, I quickly realized that these are not stories one can comfortably relax with and read, but rather they are told, more like narrated, to the reader.

Certain dialogue peppered throughout makes one feel like the author is sitting right beside you, whispering these explicit tales in your ear. While I appreciate a strong voice in any author, I did not want that particular feeling while reading erotic stories. That voice is almost invasive and constantly took me out of the story and instead into the narrator's thoughts.

The potential for some phenomenal stories resides within these pages, but wasn't quite achieved in the end. It was interesting to see how some our most well-know fairy tales could be turned into adult oriented playgrounds with some underlying messages. There are some third person tales as well as first person for those that like to mix it up. For those looking strictly for erotica, these may be what you've been looking for. I would not recommend it though for readers looking for romance, which some have come to expect with erotica these days, because there is a lack of passion to the stories. All in all, it turned out to be mildly interesting, though not memorable.
