Pharmacology for Nursing Care

Always a student favorite, Pharmacology for Nursing Care offers a clear approach explaining drug prototypes and how they work. It provides the background needed to understand related drugs currently on the market, as well as drugs yet to be released. In simplifying a complex subject, this text focuses on the essentials of pharmacology. Large print is used to show "need-to-know" information, and small print is used for "nice to know" material. At the end of each chapter, a summary of major nursing implications helps in applying the material to real-world situations. This edition includes a new companion CD-ROM featuring NCLEX® examination-style review questions, a variety of electronic calculators, and animations depicting drug mechanisms and effects.

This book is one of the best reads of all of my school books, simply because Lehne doesn't try to sound hyper-intelligent to impress. He keeps it simple, and interesting, and that definitely gives one the desire to continue reading. I have learned so much from this book already. One of my favorite school reads by far! This book will continue to be useful in my future studies. Worth every cent that was paid! LOVES IT!

This book has a lot of detail in it, which makes it a lot easier to understand the difficult terminology. I recommend this book to anyone who is in nursing, pharm or medical school. Very helpful! Puts knowledge into words that are easy to understand and uses a lot of examples. Great text! It also comes with a CD that is extremely helpful

This classic text is simply the best. It's great for an undergraduate nursing pharmacology course, and it's also good as a review prior to advanced pharmacology for NPs. The text is well organized and gives a solid but not overly technical treatment of pharmacology. Definitely a must have for any nurse!

Pharm was definitely my hardest subject during nursing school. I had a hard time keeping all the drug classes straight, but this incredible textbook gave me the exact tools I needed to understand the drugs. With Lehne's sense of humor (in chapter 1 she writes a note to the "chemophobes" - those of us who are scared of chemistry class!) makes this text book interesting and easy to read.

I had another text for my pre-nursing pharmacology class, and after suffering through it, found this one. Even though I had already finished the class, I bought this and read it cover to cover. It's worth it. Not a lot of details on the chemistry, but it's great for the practicioner who needs the practical information. The background parts that discuss physiology and some chem are excellent to keep things in context.

Although many nursing students would cringe at the thought of taking pharmacology, this text actually makes it easy. The author inserts many humorous comments throughout the text while making the necessary presented information easily readable and understandable. The included disc provides students with thought-provoking questions that test knowledge on each chapter. An excellent text overall.

Although I just started the Pharmacology class, this book has been very beneficial in helping me understand the concepts of pharmacology. I would also recommend the Lipincott or Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses 10ed. book to facilitate learning. So far the class has been pretty rough, so beware.

This text is being used by PA and FNP students at my school. Of all the books we have read throughout the program, Pharmacology for Nursing Care is hands down my favorite text. It's extremely well written, important points are clearly emphasized, and Lehne also throws in a touch of humor!

So far, this is the best textbook that I have had in my graduate nursing education. Lehne takes what can be a difficult subject and very deftly organizes the content and simplifies the explanations of the various classes of drugs. My class was entirely online and I was able to grasp all the concepts and learn the material by the book alone. It is an easy to read, well organized text that I highly recommend to anyone in need of a pharmacology resource. You won't want to sell it back!

I made it through my class without the help of this book even though it was required to read. I found this textbook very confusing and not helpful to me unless you want to major in this kind of stuff.

All I have to say after couple of pharmacology classes (one for LPN program, one for LPN-RN program)this book beats both classes hands down. The information is given in such an easy manner, I don't know why more books are like this one. And unlike most "textbooks" this one is actually really enjoyable to read believe it or not. The author is the best I have seen in "textbook" format in a long time, plus the information is easy to understand. I would highly recommend this book even if you are not taking a Pharm class, this is a great reference book also, the first book I have had in a while I will NOT be selling it back to the bookstore!

This is by far the best textbook that I have ever bought. It is clear, concise, and presents the information in terms that most people will be able to understand. It feels like the author is speaking directly to you in an informal setting. This is a textbook that I will not sell.

I was trying to purchase the book at my college bookstore. The book was on order for several weeks. I then decided to order the book on line. This was a blessing because the book was shipped and received in very good condition and it was shipped within 3 days. I was able to get the book and study for an exam I had 4 days later. THANK YOU AMAZON for offering such services. Going forward all of my purchases for books are online.

This textbook does an excellent job in explaining the physiology, drug actions, adverse effects, etc. Students will have a good understanding of how drugs work after using this textbook. The physiology in this book is a plus. It explains very well receptors such as the adrenergic, cholinergic, and opiate receptors. All new drugs are included in this book. This book is a number one for all nursing and college level pharmacology courses.

I have read a lot of drug books in the course of my nursing (RN) education and this book helped me understand Pharmacology. The author, Lehne, is very concise in his presentation of pathophysiology and pharmacology i.e., mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse effects, interactions, etc. One thing that sets this book apart from the other drug books is the extensive but concise explanation of nursing implications related to each drug. At the end of each chapter, the author lists a summary of Major Nursing Implications which is very helpful and indispensable to students and practicing nurses.
