(Hide Review...)  This book helped me start to understand photoshop.

As a newbe to photoshop I needed a book to present an easy to follow, visual plan. This book did it for me. It helped me to understand other books I bought to teach me photoshop. I can build on the things I learned in this book. Not a book that takes you step by step through a photo retouch but will get you started with some photoshop tools.

I bought this book at the request of my instructor. This has been the BEST purchase I have made in a longtime. I have the CS3 for dummies and it explains but if you don't know then you don't know. This book has step by step pictures to teach, also every lesson is done on 2 pages only. GREAT BOOK! If you need to learn CS3 then you need this book. I own a sign and graphics company and this book really is an awesome tool for us here because you can reference quickly and can understand and comprehend a lot faster than just reading.

(Hide Review...)  Great Beginner Book hands DOWN
Reviewer Permalink
I have to laugh at this book. I have been a photoshop user for a long time and was given this book as course material for my intro to photoshop class that i had to take. I in my own record time finished this book in a week and half. I didnt really learn much from this book, but it was fun doing it. Dont let that scare you, this book is great for a beginner and touches on some great key facts for a beginner that needs to know, i just have been using photoshop for awhile and knew alot of the functions. I do feel that this book does not cover all the basics or features like some of the top need to know 100 how tos. In the long run, this is a great starting book for a user that wants to learn Photoshop CS3

Excellent handbook. It presents the information in easy pace and is easy to understand without computer by your side. It concentrates on the essentials and is excellent thing for persons that have zero knowledge in photoshop.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I hate going through page after page of Adobe manuals trying to figure out how to do something quickly. This makes it easy and much easier to understand. As they say, you learn by doing--and this and all the other "Visually" books provide better understanding by showing how to do projects without all the background information and techie catchwords. A great book--

(Hide Review...)  Better than the "For Dummies" book on the subject, does not adequately explain "masks"
Reviewer Permalink
If you are looking for detailed explanation of the "mask" function, look elsewhere. Otherwise great!

(Hide Review...)  Excellent book for an entry level
Reviewer Permalink
Pros: the book is colorful, it has picture, step by step instructions, gives you a difficulty level of an exercise, full of tips, color coded by subject, very easy to navigate.
Cons: the only wish is that they had more tips and tricks, otherwise it is an excellent book for such complected program as CS3.

(Hide Review...)  AWESOME Book for Visual Learners!

I loved this book! It's easy to read and understand for visual people who'd like an overview of PS CS3. I'm in a whole new level as far as making extractions and with layers. If you're a power PS user this book will be too basic for you.

(Hide Review...)  A very helpful book!

I'm new to the full Photoshop CS3, although I've been an enthusiastic user of all Photoshop Elements versions back to 2.0. I had never bought any of the "Teach Yourself" books before. As I wade through the intricacies of CS3, I am finding this book very helpful. There are easy step by step "how-to's" to follow, including a large section on layers. I would have liked more pages on Bridge, but overall I know I will continue to use and refer to this book often.

My husband loves this book. We had checked several out from the public library before purchasing and this was the one he chose to buy. It gets you into the program quickly without have to read manuals the size of phone books! It is easy to find things in and takes you step by step through how to do things. It is reasonable priced also- some were over $50.
