Being a taught by an established master in the field, The Mystery Method takes a hands-on approach from an expert at the game of meetig and seducing women. Getting women is like making a sale and the authors show you how to do it in a step by step methos all the way to closing the dealing. Excellent book.

Super book if you are looking to improve your skills with women. His advice gives you stuff to fall back on when you are nervous. I also recommend 101 Essential Wingman Tips by Billy Conroy and The Game by Neil Strauss. My skills have improved dramatically since I read these books.

I enjoyed this book, but I must say with the advent of Mystery's VHI show, this strategy and the lines are in danger of becoming overused. I like watching "The Pick-Up Artist" to root for the geeks. I wondered if I would ever encounter anyone trying out Mystery's techniques. I felt like I was in one of those camera-ed up clubs when a man came up to me and laid on the lines. I responded by asking if he by chance likes to watch "The Pick-Up Artist". Of course he denied it and "had to get back to his friends". I think Mystery needs to write a new book titled "Saving Face When Females Call You on Your Game".

This book's claim to fame is, simply, its author. Mystery (Eric Van Markovic) is perhaps the most significant of the real-life protagonists in Neil Strauss' iconic pick-up expose "The Game," and he is now probably better known through his reality TV show "The Pick Up Artist" now on VH1.

One thing you learn about Mystery in The Game is that he has a passionate and volatile personality, but can't always stay organized enough to keep up with his own goals. For better or worse this comes out in "The Mystery Method." The book eventually gets around to including specific pieces of advice - and they are gems - but that is your reward only if you survive the first 67 pages. Most of the first four chapters could be described as Mystery's rambling thoughts on women, history, and biology. (Did his agent put him up to that?) Mystery takes fully 12 of those pages to tell you that attraction must come first, then comfort, then seduction. There are a good half dozen good pieces of advice in those early pages, but they aren't useful until you already have mastered aspects of pickup that are described hundreds of pages later. The big disappointment here is that after all that rambling, which seems targeted at guys who need a lot of motivation, Mystery only gives you one "opener" line to say when you approach a woman. One. It's on page 72, and his students overused it on the TV show, also. It's about a fight between two girls and a guy named George. And that is the area where pickup amateurs need the most help. For advice on opening, readers are strongly advised to look elsewhere than this book; Neil Strauss' "Rules of the Game" is dedicated mostly to opening.

Where Mystery's book really shines is in the later chapters, which include specific examples of how to read women, demonstrate high value, and, most important, plan a "miracle" date that will make a woman melt. Women will probably laugh at the endless examples of "IOIs" and "IODs" (indicators of interest and disinterest) that a woman will show a man, but ladies, we need these. Somehow, we were allowed to graduate high school and college without knowing that a hair toss means you want us to talk to you more. Fortunately, Mystery is there for us.

Again, though, the reader has to dig a bit. Mystery's voice wanders between that of coach and memoirist; almost like the book deal might have initially been for a narrative like "The Game" rather than a how-to guide. It's a price the reader has to pay. Ultimately, the men who will get the most out of this book are already good at opening (or have another guide to that), and are hyper-organized good student types. If you can easily separate the sound advice from the self-aggrandizing storytelling and rambling, you'll turn the advice in this book into pure gold.

I bought all the four of the bestsellers in this category. This is a great study of female persuasion, really a one of a kind book. He takes apart the whole mating ritual piece by piece, explains the words, attitudes, emotions and reasons thing work and don't work in attracting women. One of the more eye opening books I've read in a long time. He's a bit over the top with dressing up like he does, but the psychology involved is spot on from what I read and now witnessed.

_The Mystery Method_ is a must-read not just for guys who want to get laid, but for Christian teens who want to keep themselves pure until marriage (or until a spinster's chaste death, whichever comes first). Neil and "Mystery," and my very good friend, "Lovedrop," here teach lonely guys every trick in the book--and I'm not talking about the Good Book, I'm talking about their own methodically prurient book on How to Get Beautiful Women into Bed. If you don't happen to be a beautiful virgin, no sweat, stay home and read a Harlequin. But if you're a naive cutie, you had better buy and study this tome, and none too soon; otherwise, some loser whom you have just met for the first time (but who knows Bill's method) is likely to have you dropping your knickers faster than hot potatoes.

Along with Get Laid Now! The Man's Guide to Picking Up Women and Casual Sex and The Game, this book has tremendously helped out my technique with women. Sure, it's a little "out there" but it's also very entertaining as well as very informative

Erik von Markovik thinks like a Stage Magician. Thus, he has a magician mindset.

He has the skills of leading folks through baby-step commands and body moves to control them.

In doing so, he controls their perception of ongoing at-the-moment experience and gains compliance.

In short, he creates mini-illusions like the Prize Illusion, the You're Getting Somewhere Illusion and the You're Cool Illusion.

By his dress and looks, Erik must have modeled himself after Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, right down to the black fingernail polish and the big floppy top hat.

Few books are worth trading your time to read them.

This book offers some gems, a 20-something interpretation of university lectures in Group Dynamics and Interpersonal Communication Persuasion. Throw in
a few stage musician methods and you come up with the "Mystery Method."

Like most books, the story does not begin until several chapters ahead and like most books, The Mystery Method suffers from a bad chapter sequence.

Much of what you read from the Optional Chapters reflects social indoctrination that Erik took as a Canadian national. Thus, you can skip such without losing the essence of the method.

Mystery is the king of PUA. He is what we all try to aspire to be. It's a given fact. Neil Strauss made us all realize this in the Game. So why in the hell does Mystery spend the first 30 pages of this book trying to convince me that his method and the Venusian Arts work. Dude, no kidding, let's get straight to the point and teach me the techniques. You're already a household name, I don't need any more convincing. Once I got through all that, and there is a lot of it, it's good, and I was able to improve my skillset because of it. I want to be out there learning the game, not wasting an hour of my time being convinced that Mystery is the man.

This book was great. A little difficult to read (I suggest reading it more than once), but it really teaches you a lot. Great overall.

Mystery is very, very good at picking up women, maybe the best. But for reading, I preferred The Game by Neil Strauss and Cougars, Poptarts & One Night Stands by Billy Conroy. Mystery has a paint-by-numbers type approach. The other two books have better overall advice. If you can, but all three. All the others I have read are a waste of time.

Very in depth self-improvement analysis here in Mystery's book. It's a topic no one has every taken apart to this extent. Having reviewed his advice many times and practiced adding bits and pieces into my own conversation, I can say it is well worth investing a few bucks and buying. You can only improve.

Mystery really has put together a compelling work here. Heavy study of the mating ritual, cracking the code of inner workings of what attracts women, and what doesn't. One of the most eye opening books to developing your own inner game techniques, and confidence. Strange jargon and terms, but the rest is gold.

Honestly, this book could have been a lot easier to read and make sense of. If you're patient and read and re-read it until you understand what Mystery is talking about, you'll probably improve your game. My favorite book in this topic is I Love You. This is a great product to learnin attraction and becoming a social butterfly, havin a life full of adventureous experiences and learning experiences. However i confide in you that you should really do sum inner work, take A LOT of TIME to INTROSPECT! Realize that you cannot love and respect anyone before you can do it to yourself. Now that the word is out, is this book worth buying? A year ago, I felt so. Like many others, I bought it with the intent of discovering the secret formula to meeting new people, especially those I don't normally approach.
The Mystery Method (MM) outlines beautifully the Attraction, the Comfort and the Seduction and stresses you have to practice them in that order. If done correctly, the 'Target', as she is called, will not know she is being picked up. The nightclub setting scenarios are only good if you happen to be a bar-fly. While Mystery, no doubt, experienced numerous rejections and learned through trial and error what worked, the only value MM has now is it's an entertaining read.
Presently, I can vouch that MM will make you a better friend, coworker, and even more interesting to those you don't know, but it won't help you find love. There's no secret formula for that. When you meet someone, there's either an instant connection or there isn't.
Read or listen to it for entertainment value only, but don't take it too seriously.

This book was decent. I like some of the techniques, such as learning how to tell stories effectively, body language, establishing an identity, being interesting, etc. But, I can tell this is directed towards socially inept types, guys that have zero social skills. If you are a confident MAN, with a life that you are passionate about, you should do fine with women.

But most of the people that read PUA material dont want to hear that. They want the quick fix . They wanna learn techniques, or the latest opener to help them "score" with a women. Do you really think in order to get the girl, you must DHV and then NEG her, while simutaneously charming her friends? The game really isnt that serious. There are so many easier ways to meet women, the best way being through a mutual friend.

However, with all that being said, I think this book is worth the read. It has good information on social dynamics and on cold approaching. The read can get kinda dry and informative, like reading a scientific journal on rainforest plants. Also, its kinda complicated, because he has so many terms to learn. Still, it can help you become a better improv speaker, as well as approaching strangers effectively.

Hey, he has proof it works. And you game can never be too sharp.

I learned of Mystery after reading the very excellent "The Game" by Neil Strauss which delves into how Strauss penetrated the society of pickup artists. This book on attracting and scoring with women has it fine points on body language, treating yourself as the prize instead of the woman to whom you're attracted, and how seeming uninterested is better than telling a woman up front you're attracted to her.

On the downside, the book reads like a thick military instruction manual full of unneccessary jargon (i.e. IOIs, DHV, and AFCs sometimes had me saying WFT?). Reading it once would not be sufficient. You'd have to read it over and over again to grasp what it's saying and would probably need a bit of video support to help you. It relies on sweeping assumptions that most women think alike. (I wondered how his material would work in the hood or in a foreign country where customs and culture are different than ours.) Also, it doesn't address how very unattractive men can better themselves. I don't care how much material you use, if you're butt ugly and broke you will be shut down. Finally, it doesn't address what to do when the image you're portraying doesn't match your reality. What if you drive a Pinto? What if you live in a trailer? What if the first thing she asks you is where you live and what you drive?

Bottom line: I do believe the material in this book can dramatically increase your chances of meeting beautiful women and having sex with them. If that's what you're looking for, buy and study this book.

Don't get me wrong--Mystery is a pioneer, definitely knows his stuff, and has great insights into the art and the structure of pickup. However, I found this book's presentation to be awkward, somewhat difficult to read, with many forward references to topics not yet covered. There are many gems inside that are well worth discovering, but, due to the disorganization, I would recommend some other book for beginners (perhaps Magic Bullets by Savoy). Then come back and read this one once you've gotten the basics down.

Since learning about the venusian arts, my life has been a lot better, since I'm healthier, happier, smarter, make more money, and have much better friends and girls in my life. However, the first methods I used were from this book. Since the show has come out it has exposed some of the methods and many girls have caught on to this movement.

The book is a must read, however, for self development purposes because it outlines exactly how girls think and why, and explains so much when you apply it to not just attraction, but social interaction. So I'm thankful for mystery leading the way, but wish he wouldn't have gone so commercial with it.

It's a long way from getting a beautiful woman and keeping her. When finding someone to date, I believe we all use some sort of wiles to attract the opposite sex, whether it is intentional and calculated or instinctual. If you aren't too good at relying on your instincts, then this book should be useful. We shouldn't be too upset that less attractive men get beautiful women. Recent research says that happier marriages are created by the woman being more attractive than the man. Men appreciate good looks, and will try harder to please and keep a good-looking woman. Women appreciate character and attentiveness, and will therefore appreciate a man who is going out of his way to please her. In that same vein, if you want a book that will help both parties please each other once they have made a connection, add Was that an earthquake? The Sensuous Couple's (Flip Over) Guide to Seismic Oral Sex to your reading list.

As a woman, I find books like this chilling. I'm lucky enough to be married to an absolute prince of a guy (for 20+ years), and neither of us played any silly games when we were dating. But I wonder how many men really believe a book like this, respond to the writing style, and try these techniques? Frankly I had trouble keeping track of all the abbreviations he uses, like "kino", "DHV", "DLV" and "IOI" -- I kept having to flip to the glossary in the back. And please, God, let it not be true that all men see women as "sets" or "targets" and just want to know what buttons to push and maneuvers to make so they can get sex. I read stuff like this and it makes me think that if I'm ever widowed or divorced, I should just resign myself to celibacy! I'm glad to hear that young girls are out there reading books like this so they won't be fooled by slimebags like Mr. Mystery. And, by the way, his author photo looks UNBELIEVABLY dorky. I mean, the HAT???!?!

I must admit I was originally very skeptical of this book even though I heard good things about it. When I picked it up in the bookstore the first page I flipped two was an ad inside the book of Msytery plugging his weekend seminar on how to meet 'hired guns' - waitresses, barmaids, and what not. I was literally disgusted and put the book back. I checked reviews here regularly but didn't see any that seemed unbiased. The 5 star ones mostly idolize Mystery and the 1 star ones don't even sound like they actually read the book. It was Ian Coburn's review that convinced me to pick up a copy and I'm glad I did. It was worth the wait! There is lots of advice in the book and I tried some of the techniques already with new success. I will also put up a review of Mr. Coburn's book God Is a Woman: Dating Disasters, which I am halfway thru. Already it has proven to be full of great information and highly entertaining. I guess my review isn't any better or more revealing than the reviews I read that didn't convince me to buy this book. All I can tell you is don't be like me and wait. Get a copy of this book you'll be glad you did.

He give you some signs of interest (IOI)
His advice is very helpful , but not all things he says I am going to do.
Sometimes you got to do what feels right to you.
And never suck up to a women you are approaching.

it's important to know that after reading this book. USE the material and forget about reading it again for a while. You need to just go out and calibrate. This book is a fantastic STARTING POINT. Mystery has done much more since (look up Magic Bullets) the creation of the Mystery Method and it's been much more refined. Plus there are other methods worth using. This book really helps you break down your interaction with the opposite sex into a logical format that allows you to calibrate your own experiences (which you definitely need) in a way that helps you to continue to improve and internalize your behavior.

that being said. please don't use this book as an excuse to hate PUA's or to become some misogynist pig. Please, show respect for women and be open to the idea that women are just as bad as we are. Stop putting them on a pedestal.

If you're incapable of picking up insecure women using your own glowing personality, and instead need a step-by-step guide with its own special language for things normal people do without prompting ("negging" for the sort of light teasing one engages in when flirting? Really? That needed a name?), this is the book for you, I guess.

But I have the right to think you're pathetic, and so will any woman you try this on that knows what you're doing.

A great book to be read along side "The Game" by Neil Strauss. It has many tips, written in a very lyrical manner that may seem to justify what every lonely man may want in life. But, it is only a method and the only guarantee that the book makes involves months of practice, which in turn is months of failure. To think that one can simply read this book and immediately become a mPUA (Master Pick up Artist) or "Venusian Artist" is surely a goal that will not be reached. One must first know what he is getting himself into, but it is in my opinion that Mystery is the best in the business, he teaches not to manipulate women (like Ross Jeffries) but to show a side of yourselves which an interesting, innovative, fun, and charismatic side that women will prefer over the lonely and miserable side. The book is not simply about getting women into bed, it is a self help book that makes you look to improve every aspect of your life; in turn will attract more women down the line.
One important thing that he teaches is: the first two-thousand approaches mean nothing.

Mystery method is a great method for meeting and attracting beautiful women. The book perfectly explains, step by step, how to approach and attract women. It's also a great method if you just want to get out there and meet people, or are shy and don't know how to approach strangers. I would definitely recommend it.

It's obvious Mystery spent countless hours on this project. It's one of the best social marketing guides ever written. He also created his own jargon to describe so many of the little nuances involved in the pick up, many of which are damn funny and spot on accurate. Amazon recommends 3 main books in this category above. Get all 3. This one, The Game by Strauss which a storybook form of the Mystery Method in action, The Professional Bachelor Dating Guide - How to Exploit Her Inner Psycho, which is a little deeper psychology and fun to read as well. Great books.

Even if you are good with women you still should read this. You will laugh out loud at many things, especially if you have experienced them first hand. Wonderful information, I find it to be true and beneficial...

An amusing book about picking up women. unlike many others, it is terse, instruction oriented, and not misogynistic. if you feel a need to read one, read this one. It will lay out very interesting views of social interactions and step by step ways to show you are the one worth hanging out with. I found it a very useful book to think about social dynamics in clubs and in general, and it does so in a way that is goal oriented and not antagonistic. Skip all the other books on the topic.

If you hit the clubs often, this is a must read. It breaks down social interaction in nightclubs in a very introspective and succinct manner. Better than anything you've ever read. Written like a college course manual. Very effective.

I've watched the show, I've read the book... nothing useful in the practicality of my location. I even took the time to challenge Mystery or any of his "masters" to come out to my part of the world here in nowhere, FL where everyone knows evryone else. If you are not in a clique, you get nowhere. I even play in a very popular local band and it has no sway with the women. it used mean something back in NJ where I was born and raised. There is a completely different lifestyle here and no matter what I do, I will always have to be simply myself. And after seven years of being here I've had many dayes, but I am so different in almost everyway from these rednecks here, I have not one thing besides music I can talk about. For example - I think NASCAR is stupid, they all love it it here. I enjoy pro sports, they don't even know anything about any pro team including the ones from FL. Many, many more differences, so now that I own this home, can't move due to the real estate market being in the toilet, I just have given up and the best thing I can say is that I'm saving a ton of money by not wasting it on drinks, food, or presents during birthdays and holidays. So to sum this all up - Mystery's method (in my humble opinion) will ONLY work if you are in a city environment where there are tons of people, lots of different places to go, and have lots of free time to go and hang out at all of these places to hone your "skills". Oh yeah, did anyone know it's a HUGE negative mark against you if you do not drink, smoke, or not have any trendy hair or tattoos as is my lifstyle??? My personal advice - just be yourself and if a woman likes that about you, then all the other goodies will arrive in due course.

If you're looking for a natural approach to meeting women that really works, you should get The Zen of Meeting Women. It's by far the best in that genre. But if you want a more canned material approach, then this is about as thorough an approach as you'll find. At times dry and formulaic, there is no arguing with results, and Mystery gets them. Does that mean his approach will work for you? Like I said. If you're not comfortable learning "routines" and would rather do things more naturally, get the Zen book. Otherwise, give this one a try.

When I started reading through the books written by men about how to score with women, I realized that everything I was taught growing up about girls and boys was horribly wrong. We're not the same. We think in completely different terms. At first in our schools and then as we get into businesses, we're conditioned to see everyone as the same and hold them to the same standards of conduct.

We are wrong.

Women are completely different. And men are totally at a loss about how to deal with them. Even though most women will say they just want a Nice Guy, they will--if they ever settle for one--set out to thoroughly destroy him. I know. I was one of them.

Rather than go to the Dark Side and join the legions of selfish man-childs out there seeking only the sleaziest of pleasures, I decided to study up on the literature of dating from the male point of view. I'm finding out that just about everything I've ever done was WRONG. Sure, it was everything a Nice Guy should do, but it ended in disaster every time.

Having just finished THE MYSTERY METHOD, I can add a few more insights into my thinking--but not many. This book is primarily a text book for picking up women so it focuses on a detailed process for meeting and mating with women between the 6's and 10's (the author doesn't concern himself with any woman under 6 on that scale). It's relatively dry and devoid of humor (how can anyone take this absurd process so seriously, you might wonder) but it makes good sense.

(The book I read before this one, THE PROFESSIONAL BACHELOR, was rife with typos but injected some humor into the advice...before suggesting which country to visit to buy scores of women for pure debauchery).

I see a lot on here about Neil Strauss's book, so that will be next.
