This is my 7th or 8th year using this calendar! My busy family's life would be chaos without it. There are five members of our family and this calendar gives everyone their own space for appointments and special events. This year we combined one spot for our college girls and gave a spot to the new family dog. I highly recommend every busy mom have this calendar!

I originally started buying Boynton's Mom's Family Calendar three years ago because I needed a new calendar and this one had the characters from my daughter's favorite board books splattered across the pages. Once I started to use it I recognized that it was more than just a cute calendar.
I love how I have a place on the calendar for every person in the family where I can record who is doing what on any given day. Everyone gets their own column for the entire month. Because I have 5 spaces across the calendar for every day of the week, I seldom find myself not having enough room to record all that we have going on for a particular day. When it comes to trying to manage a family this calendar beats a traditional one square for every day of the month type of calendar.
The 500 stickers that are included are cute but I seldom use them. They did come in handy this past year when my youngest child was potty training, but for the most part I only use a few of these stickers a year to mark holidays or birthdays.
This year a storage pocket was added to the calendar. At first I thought it wasn't that great, but now I'm very happy that it's there. I no longer have to have papers clipped to the underside of the calendar.
This calendar is well worth buying. There is no way I could ever go back to a standard calendar. I look forward to buying this calendar for many years to come. If you're a Boynton fan this is a must have.

(Hide Review...)  Cool Calendar - it does take some getting use to

I first saw this calendar at our schools Scholastic book fair. One of the reasons I purchased it because it starts in September of 2008 and ends in December 2009, for the money it's more than just a 12 month calendar.

I do like the way they broke every day down and you can label 5 small rectangles for each day. At our house I broke it down to Mom, daughter, Dad, Birthday and other. I also liked that also with the calendar came a magnetic phone list for the fridge and 500 stickers. It does take some getting use to looking across the calendar, but once you get use to it, it's easy. I do wish the daily rectangle areas where a little bit bigger for more information. A good deal money wise and to help you plan your child's school year and your families social commitments.

(Hide Review...)  THE Best Calendar Out There
Reviewer Permalink
I purchased both Mom's Family Calendar and Plan it Plus last year and used them both and IMHO, Mom's Family Calendar wins out hands down. I could barely squeeze appointments or anything else in the Plan it Plus tiny squares. Not to mention if you have more than one thing to write on a certain day, you can forget it. The family calendar may be a little bigger, but I can live with it if it will hold all the information I need which it does and then some. I love that you can write different names at the top to section out different appointments and such. It's perfect for my family of four. And there is even an extra space for our family dog and her vet appointments or grooming! The only thing I give Plan it Plus over the Family Calendar is the convenient magnetic holder so you can hang it on the Fridge. Other than that, I would highly recommend the Family Calendar to keep any family organized and on top of things.

I'm from Portugal and the last time I went to America (2 years ago) I found this incredible calendar in a bookshop. Everyone in my family began to use it everyday and it quickly became a "must" in my kitchen, so the next year I try to purchase it from the internet - now it's the third year. The images and the stickers are great! Kids just want them to put in their books... I wish it had more birthday stickers...

this is the best planning calendar I know of. The vertical format is easy to use and visible across a room, which is a major plus at my house. There are enough columns for 6 people and the paper is not ink resistant. That may seem trivial, but most wall calendars are too darn glossy to write on legibly. How can you use a planning calendar if you can't write on the wretched thing with any ordinary pen? I get a kick out of Boynton's character drawings as well. The calendar usually includes a page of stickers for major events such as birthdays, anniversaries, music lessons, and appointments, which the memory challenged at my house count on to keep themselves out of hot water with other family members. And the price is good too!

(Hide Review...)  Very helpful for Organizing a busy household!
Reviewer Permalink
I have used these calendars for the past three years, as I find them to be the most easy to use while organizing my two kids, dog, husband, and myself. Each member of the household has their own column going vertically down the page, so I can easily scan the month to see what activities my individual kids have, and even my 7 yr old has learned to look for "her" box to see if there is anything written in for that day. And going across horizontally, it gives you a snap shot of your family's day, from your own appts., to where your husband may be that night, to the kids' sports or play dates, to even the dog's vet appts. or daycare days. The calendar also comes with stickers, which I don't usually bother with, as the events they mark, like playdate, library, practice, are a bit too mundane to need sticker highlights, in my opinion, but if your kids are into stickers, they could have fun applying them for doctor appts., haircuts, etc.

My first Mom's Family Calendar (2006)was a gift from my big sister. Conveniently I have one husband and three children.

The little boxes on a standard calendar just didn't cut it. I can keep each of our activities separate and easily see what conflicts may happen. I also love that it is a 16 month calendar, as I start mine in September. That way, I can put all the school holidays and events for the year on the calendar instead of doing half on one calendar and then the other half at a different time.

I buy this calendar for my daughter every year and she loves it to keep track of appointments and sports schedules for her three daughters. However, the 2009 calendar has two months where the ink is smeared all down the pages and makes reading the dates difficult. This is the first time I have been disappointed with anything I have purchased from Amazon.

(Hide Review...)  Vertical format and VERY large--now I use Mom's Plan-it instead
Reviewer Permalink
I love Boynton's books, and used to get this calendar. (We have 3 kids.) I really liked the idea of it, but the superlarge size and the vertical format just always felt a little awkward. Also, on some pages the cartoons cover up some of the day/date information.

About two years ago I switched to the Mom's Plan-it series. You can't tell from the Amazon photos, but that one has a standard horizontal calendar format (each row is a week), and is a smaller size, so it actually fits on our refrigerator, which the Boynton one never did.

Both have stickers and a pocket. I think both are good, and I do like the artwork on this one much better, but just find the Mom's Plan-it format easier to use.

If you're going to buy this one, make sure you look at the additional images so you understand how the vertical format looks. And if you've had one of these in the past and find the vertical format frustrating, take a look at the Mom's Plan-it to see if it would work better for you. It did for our family.

Anyone who isn't tethered to a blackberry will wonder how they ever got along without this spreadsheet calendar. It comes with dozens (more than you'll ever need) of event reminder stickers from "no school today" to "Birthday" and everything in between. The layout is so simple that at a glance you'll know the plans of the entire family.
It's not just for Moms. Dads love it too! I wish every calendar had a layout like this one.

This calendar is wonderful - 5 columns so each family member has their own column every day. Everyone in our family is so active that a regular calendar block was no longer big enough. It did take a few months to get used to looking across the column to see everyone's activities for that day (it's like a word processing Table), but this is the 4th year I've used this kind of calendar and I would never go back to a traditional one.

I love everything about this calendar. Your whole family can plan their days and see what everyone else is doing at a glance. The high-quality gloss paper makes the calendar a keepsake, worthy of tucking away at the end of the 16 months. A drop-down storage pocket can hold odds and ends such as "coupons, notes, stray $100 bills." The familiar Sandra Boynton critters appear throughout, looking impossibly cute. A nice bonus: A magnetic Family Phone List for the refrigerator door.

One of the nicest features is a couple of sheets of handy stickers -- 500 in all. You get stickers of some of the Boynton animals for fun, but you also get lots of labels to help you plan your days. These labels include 1/2-Day, Big Game, Birthday!, Camp, Celebrate!, Company, Concert, Dance Class, Dentist, Doctor, Game, Field Trip, Haircut, Library, Music Lesson, No School, Party, Playdate, Practice, Recital, Rehearsal, School Event, Show, Sleepover, Travel, Vacation, Vet, Visit, Welcome Home. There's even a sticker that reads Eek!

Starting in September 2008 and ending December 31, 2009, Mom's Family Calendar makes it easy to include the entire school year on one calendar.

This would make a great gift, either for your mom or yourself!

I stumbled upon this calendar many years ago, and after I went on and on about it, my kids began giving it to me each year for Christmas... Something happened last year and they dropped the ball :-( probably because each thought one of the others had it covered... Anyway - enter the 16-month version which I bought here! This one goes from September to December of `09! How cool is that!!!! that means that I have a buffer next year to make sure that SOMEONE gets me the next calendar (either September `09 or January `10!. ***OH! If you feel especially loving, also get her the accompanying Desktop Calendar, which works as a great planner. ***

Now, here is what is so great about this calendar - the numbers of each day during the month are written down the left margin of the page. Across the top are headings for MOM and then FOUR more blank boxes in which you can put the names of your other family members. Then in each row, you can list that family member's scheduled events. Get it? Voila! Mom's Family Calendar of Who Does What and Goes Where When!

Just perfect to keep my toddler' activities on track. I had purchased one last year (2008), and now one for the next. The calender comes with stickers which are fun to use. The boxes in each calender month are fair sized so daily activities can be written comfortably. There are slots for different family members' activities/notes too. It has whimsical drawings & is colorful.
