This book is a great resource for Outlook 2K. I ordered it when it first came out, and am almost done. Outlook is a great tool. Like any other complex tool, however, it requires training and guidance to use to its fullest potential. The brilliant author, Mr. Simon, combines know-how and humour into one handy reference guide. This book teaches everything from the basics (creating a contact record) to the extremely advanced (creating a VBScript to significantly cut down time spent on tedious tasks). If you're interested in using Outlook, this is definitely a book you want to read. Finally, there is one important difference between this book and most "Outlook 2000" books. Most Outlook 2000 books are really Outlook 98 books, with the title and maybe a couple of pages changed. This book is definitely NOT one of those... it is thorough coverage of Outlook. To reiterate: This is a great resource for anybody planning to use Outlook 2000. Five Stars, ten out of ten, etc. Great work, Mr. Simon!

More and more I find myself "living" in Outlook, as I use it as the primary interface for communicating with my colleagues, customers, suppliers, and friends. I trust to Outlook the key functions of my work life, such as managing my schedule. It has made me much more organized and efficient. But with so many features and customizations Outlook can be a daunting thicket. This book covers step by step methods for making Outlook work for your style of organization. And more importantly, it helps you recover when things have gone wrong. I thought I was an Outlook expert when I picked up this book, having started way back with Outlook 97, but there was much I learned.

Maximizing Outlook 2000 is a great reference book that covers the broad spectrum of Outlook functionality. From basic navigation to advanced programming, this book provides detail and insights that greatly enhance the usability of the Outlook application. The book is interlaced with tips, notes and cautions, clearly identified with graphical icons, that provide the reader with the author's commentary and evaluation of Outlooks' features. The book goes beyond other Outlook reference books by providing an in-depth review of the automation capabilities supported by Outlook such as VBA macros and forms and templates. Though this book could benefit any Outlook user, my recommendation would be for power users and IT personnel who are looking to maximize the potential efficiencies that can be gained through their implementations of Outlook 2000.

This is a very good book for the Outlook beginners to the Outlook advanced users! It starts with the basic aspects of Outlook, such as the Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc. Each component is explained in detail as to how it works, what options are available to the user, and a user can customize those options.

For the advanced user, Maximizing Outlook 2000: The Practical Guide to Optimizing Outlook shows users little known tips of the Outlook program! This includes such things as using e-mail filters, including world holidays in the calendar, and attaching Outlook components to email to send to others.

Overall, I found this book to be very informative and easy to understand. I've been teaching Outlook to others for 3 years, and I still learned things that I didn't know before!

This is a well-organized excellent reference book for all levels of Outlook users. I'm the tech-support person (as well as chief cook and bottle washer) at a small firm. This book was sitting on my desk when I went on vacation recently, and when I came back it was gone. I found it on my boss's desk--well used and annotated--when I came back. Several people in my office had actually used it to look something up themselves! And they understood it! This is truly a first! I have several reference books on lots of different programs, but this is the first that's actually been helpful to the novice users. And I've found more than 3 great timesaving features that I didn't even know Outlook could do. I would highly recommend it.

Outlook 2000, the full-featured big brother to Microsoft's free Outlook Express, is an amzing piece of software -- and amazingly complex. Microsoft's own help files barely begin to explain how to unleash it's full potential. Every time I pick up this book I discover something new. It's essential for anyone serious about getting the most out of their email. Like all the books I've seen in the Woody series, this one is full of clear, easy-to-access explanations of some very complex topics. A real winner. If you've invested in Outlook 2000 you shouldn't pass this book up.

I have been using Outlook for several years and switched to Outlook 2000 soon after it became available. I thought I knew my way around Outlook 2000 fairly well. Barry's book has shown me many things that I didn't know (but needed to) and has also helped me resolve several annoyances. The book is well organized, well written and appears quite thorough (everything *I* need to know about Outlook). The level of detail is excellent for power users, but with enough basic information that it shouldn't confuse casual users. In my humble opinion, this book is worth every penny of it's price, AND MORE!

Our everyday computer work, either for business or just for personal use, relays on great applications which help a lot. But, in order for an application to satisfy all the users demands, it has to be complex (not to say huge). So it is sometimes difficult to catch all its fine tunes, things that make you accomplish your tasks more efficiently and, why not, more rapidly. In this point of our discuttions we must take a closer look to Barry Simon's book, 'Maximizing Outlook 2000: The Practical Guide to Optimizing Outlook'. The title is self-explanatory: it helps us to achieve that level of work with Outlook, when we can say we are PRODUCTIVE. Better yet, the book helps us to understand the philosophy of the product, so further development of the program will be extremly easy to master. It is an excellent book, a book that I, personally, reccommend for all the people dealing with Outlook.

This was one of the best books I have ever read on Outlook 2000. It is full of very useful information about all aspects of Outlook. It provides lots of great tips (many of them undocumented)!

There were dozens, if not hundreds of things I learned about Outlook from this book. It has helped to use Outlook much more productively.

The book only spends one chapter on VB Script and Visual Basic for Applications, but does provide some very good examples of how to harness the power for VB Script and VBA in Outlook.

This is a great book for any level of user. It is written in a very understandable and non-technical way, yet provides a great deal of indepth information. Even the sharpest Outlook guru will learn things you did not know previously. Newbie users will learn how to use Outlook and make the most of its features, many of which are somewhat hidden.

If you are going to buy a book on Outlook 2000, this is the book to buy!
