Poor Dick. On the outside with the Clintons and the Democrats for some years and now a an old bitter and twisted mouthpiece for the Republican Party on Fox. This book reads like one of those 9/11 conspiracy blurbs and it is hilarious. Take a pill and have a lie down Dick. All this stress cannot be doing your heart any good whatsoever.

Why go into details about this trash!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even if it's stupid, but to publish such garbage, unbelievable!!
I'm glad that I borrowed it from someone else, who couldn't believe the crap that was written. We ripped the pages out together!!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-26 01:30:30 EST)

William Proxmire's tradition of Fleece Awards is seriously demeaned by this half-effort. Fleeced was accepted as public servant and politician misuse of taxpayer funds. Even with the subtitle suggesting this would be more than that it really does not show how the public is being fleeced Far too much is the author's unjustified predictions of federal actions under a president Obama which largely discounts Mr.Obama's actual statements. Another major part alleges that American people and corporations are supporting the terroist support activities of, largely, Iran. This section first buys into the Bush administration's fearmongering regarding the Iranian government without any investigation or justification and than proceeds to describe a variety of business activities which have no direct effects of terrorism support and which certainly have nothing to do with the American people being "fleeced" Finally, a great deal of the book describes various sales and business development activities of American lobbying firms with foreign governments. While it is certainly the desire of some of the foreign governments to fleece the American people by purchasing the expensive services, there is virtually no description of the actual inappropriate expenditures resulting from the lobbying activities bought. I should have been warned that a rant was coming by the subtitle rather than a fair and extensive investigation of the facts of fleecings.

Are you a little pissed off? Do you feel this country is going in the wrong direction? This book falls into the category of pundit books that may change your mind about the source of your discontentment as the once political advisor to Bill Clinton takes aim at Democrats He may bore you with a plethora of facts. Some of which you may challenge because you believe contrary pundit input. Some of which you may challenge because you do not find the fact to be directly or even remotely relevant to his case in point. But if there is one rule Morris holds to it is the one where he does not engage in any rivalry diatribe with other pundits, which really has him in a unique political analyst stature of which you may find enjoyable for a change. What I find puzzling is Dick Morris was Bill Clinton's political advisor and you would assume he leans left. But oh-contraire! What never comes out in his book, unlike most other political pundit or political figureheads in exile is any personal agenda. What I find intriguing is Morris's targeting seems to fall largely with the Democratic Party of which he enjoyed a high degree of success and notoriety.

I have been a liberal most of my life, but this book, has been very convincing, a lot of it is true, and it explains why so many Democrats in recent years have been changing their positions to Republicans.
You could consider me a progressive Republican, I believe in most liberal social issues but no liberal can argue that liberal policies are better for the economy or foreign policy, they cannot. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-23 01:09:47 EST)

It amazes me how today there is so much corruption and you just don't know who to believe. You can't trust the media, and anyone can now publish a book these days and state anything as fact.
I try to read information and then make a decision for myself, what seems most likely, what makes no sense. Bottom line you want some information OVERLOAD and some conspiracy theory, this books for you. I love this stuff whether its fact or fiction is for you to decide. I am not one for the alarmist viewpoint because most of them rant and complain and offer little facts or solutions to the problem. Some of these view points are unsubstantiated also. Many are partial and only explain the viewpoint of the author's belief, not the whole picture. But Fleeced is quite different.
First if you have read the title, you would notice that the authors mention Barack Obama, but he really monopolizes only the first chapter of the book, the rest is how our country, the press and media, lobbyists, foreign governments, a do nothing congress, Teacher's Unions, others are ripping us off and directing the events that shape the lives of each American. It is disturbing and very factual. The book is not an attack on the Democrats and the book sites many Republicans who are also contemptible. This makes the book not only factual, but impartial and a joy to read. When reading the book, my eyes were opened to the fact that we as consumers of the media and press have not heard of any terrorist attacks, negative information on the democrat presidential candidate, the real story behind the sub prime crisis, or any real information on what our congress is doing. That is because our media is bias and is trying to convince you they are not. They are trying to dictate who you should vote for president, water down our terrorist threat, the many companies who are lobbying our congress because they feel we are not smart enough to handle the truth. This book is very enlightening this way. What was really interesting, the book published in March 2008 explains the sub prime crises to a "T" and how a bailout would hurt Americans, not help them. "The Bush plan doesn't involve any direct federal subsidy, since it capitalizes on the federal government's ability to borrow money at a lower rate then private lenders can. But --- and there is a catch --- if any of these new borrowers defaults, it will be we, American taxpayers, who foot the bill." This is something scary. During this election period, we all need to read this book to make sure we are voting for the right candidate, not just the less of two evil. I highly recommend this book. If you purchased this book before the election, but haven't read it yet, I would suggest you do so. Although the editing could use a bit of work, much of the information presented in this book will be useful as we move into a new era. Dick Morris knows his stuff.

How amusing that Morris teh toe-sucker is now already in sudden remainder with this homage to a Bush economy that has exploded and taken most of the world's financial system with it.
This was worse than betting on the wrong horse: this was betting on a bubble economy, and the bet failed to pay off. This is a fun book to read as you watch your 401k turn into a lump of coal. Otherwise, it's worthless. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-11 02:29:41 EST)

Fleeced has one of the largest subtitles you can find on the bookshelves today so I will only cite it once -- Fleeced: How Barack Obama, Media Mockery of Terrorist Threats, Liberals Who Want To Kill Talk Radio, The Do-Nothing Congress, Companies That Help Iran, And Washington Lobbyists For Foreign Governments Are Scamming Us...And What To Do About It. But the subtitle does fulfill its purpose by telling, in a nutshell, what the book is all about.
Morris, an insider in the Clinton Administration, provides insight into how government works. Fleeced is an indictment of large government and how it doesn't work. One of the often quoted quips from his book is that of the 425 terrorists released from Gitmo some 50 have been recaptured or killed in Iraq, clearly suggesting that many if not almost all of the detainees are indeed combatants. Without showing any favoritism, Morris strikes out at Republicans and Democrats, left and right wingers, Congress, President Bush, the Supreme Court as well as John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. He points out that both McCain and Obama have taken a year off to run for president but still collect their $165,000 a year salary for being U.S. Senators even though they are not on the job anymore. After pointing out that healthcare is being allocated far more resources than education, Morris shares his concern for the large numbers of teachers leaving their professions and what the long-range implications of that are for our country. Fleeced also contains fascinating insight into the anti-work ethic of our national lawmakers, into the subprime loan crisis, and into credit card hidden charges, poison in toys, and how movies are enticing teens to smoke. The authors detail how taxpayers are being fleeced by their own government, how foreign nations and domestic corporations are trying to set the agenda for Congress, how labor unions are fleecing the American worker, and then calls out by name specific lawmakers how are fleecing the American people. Fleeced is a well-researched book as well as entertaining. An easy read, the book focuses on several issues without getting bogged down in detail on any one subject. Among the quick topics covered are: the liberals' secret plan to muzzle talk radio; how the media downplays jihad terrorism; how to block toys from China that are poisoning our children, how the NEA entices its members to invest in annuities that sap their retirement nest eggs, contractor fraud in Iraq, the real reason why Hillary Clinton initially supported the war in Iraq, and how a new Democratic President will defang the Patriot Act while NSA wiretapping will remain in force. But the main thrust of Fleeced is to identify the culprits, expose their deeds, and suggest remedies to hold government accountable so taxpayers will no longer be fleeced. didn't know what he was talking about.
I have watched Dick Morris for years and like the way he analyzes politics but he sure doesn't know anything about the stock market and the mortgage mess. I got the feeling I was reading a bunch of off the wall bull when in Chapter 8 he calls Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank "courageous and heroic" in taking on the banks for their .... ATM Fees!!! When he gets to the chapter on the Sub Prime Mortgage mess he never mention those two buffoons who should be duck walked into the nearest prison for what they did... taking money from bankrupt mortgage companies "Wamu" and putting gay lovers in charge of affordable housing at Fannie Mae. Instead he blames Loan Officers for writing bad loans to people the Congress and President Clinton forced Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make loans to. Don't believe me... Google "Affordable Housing Initiatives" and see for yourself. I stopped reading at this point... no reason to fill my head with a lot of inaccurate rantings from Mr. Morris. Dick Morris and Eileen McGann have written this book which expounds upon issues the media seem to miss or underreport. But before you think this is a partisan book (or review for that matter), I can assure you it is not. Fleeced goes into some very good detail outlining problems, solutions and authors' opinions.
This book will probably make you angry insofar as what our elected officials do (or don't do) on a daily basis. Simply stated, most of the "1 or 2 star" reviews of the book appear to come from highly polarized individuals that, in my opinion, didn't read the book fully. I firmly believe that had they read the entire book, they wouldn't be able to draw a conclusion as to the politics of the authors (and as such, wouldn't necessarily be so critical in their review). I recommend the book for two reasons: 1. There is insight to what we cannot know regarding Washington politics (we are not insiders like Dick Morris is) 2. It is non-partisan and should equally anger Dems and Repubs. Great book! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-11 02:29:41 EST)

Many different kinds of fleeces are documented. All the way from infoUSA and Bill Clinton to Halliburton (with a possible Dick Cheney connection). The really big fleece is discussed on page 20 where the authors seem to have anticipated the beginning of the biggest "fleece" we might see in a life time: "Obama's capital gains tax increase might well trigger a stock market crash and devastate the already slumping real estate industry." This has now occurred before Obama's tax increase. If Obama in this situation gets into the White House and does govern like a left-winger as the authors expect him to, he will impose the tax increase, which will make the recession deeper and longer still (the possibility of depression cannot be ruled out). The other outrageous fleeces combined, in comparison, might fade into insignificance.

I listened to the audio version of this book. It is so filled with facts that is was difficult to listen to. It almost became information overload. Looking back, I wish that I had gotten a copy of the print version of the book and then read a section at a time.
It is amazing at all the facts that Morris assembled for this. He hammers the right and the left. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-26 07:17:31 EST)

Dick has revealed so much new information on what has and is happening behind the scenes in Washington. This book should have been written years ago!
** From an American hero in the lower 48' an urgent call went out to the governor of a far northern state, "Our country needs a great VP, will this position you fill?" A quick answer came back from the governor of a state known for its Permafrost, "Yes, I will." The two stood in unison, one a Vietnam vet, the other a soccer mom, known for her true grit. A campaign was raging, one to decide the vote. Would it go to a man of courage, or to one known for his association with those who support violent revolt? The American people watched as this new VP candidate took the stage, "Who is she, what does she stand for? For our troubled country can she turn a new page?" Without a moments hesitation Sarah went into battle, challenged by a biased press. After all, they said, "She's a woman and even wears a dress." To defeat the accusations, many of them morally sick, she countered with a question, "What's the difference between a soccer mom and a Pit bull? Lipstick!" Mainstream media still refused to accept her as a viable VP choice, using lies and innuendos in an attempt to silence her voice. Her chance to prove them wrong came with a vice-presidential debate. A nation watched with apprehension as she spoke with surety and articulateness, giving intense support to her running mate. History will reflect how effective she was. However, this much we know we need more Sarah Palins'. Moreover, yes, she has proven Alaska has more to offer than ice and snow. Written by, Richard Neal Huffman Saint Joseph, Michigan, USA. Everyone should read this well written book. It is highly enlightening! People need to wake up, get educated. We are so much like a bunch of dung beetles, keeping our noses to the ground and rolling, rolling the ball not really knowing anything more than our own little pile of dung! I am grateful to people like Dick Morris for putting in the time and effort to educate us all!

This may be a shot heard across the world. hear is a man who us a Moderate democrat who is seeking to set the record straight. There is so much hear I don't know where to start; but I will press on, lets start with Guantanamo, and how important it has been in protecting the USA Morris shows us how 50 (plus) of the prisoners who have been released whom have returned to the battlefield to fight our troops. Proving that we have the right people. This doctrine of treating the prisoners as combatants goes back to WW II where after Germany surrendered some German citizens continue to fight us the US in China. Of course most people in the USA don't know this, its not taught in History anymore.
Morris goes on to talk about Barack Obama (The DNC's Nominee) and Hillary Clinton (now former presidential contender) both swear they're fiscally responsible. But each has called for $[...] trillion in tax increases over the next ten years, then they have the audacity of hope to claim there cutters. Morris also find the smoking gun of the a press conspiracy to defend the terrorists, he shows how the Mainstream Media is following the lead of the Society of Professional Journalists: who state at their web site that a reporter should never refer to "Islamic terrorists" or "Muslim terrorists. and also to belittle any terror plot that is stopped before it is carried out, by defining the people as inapt etc., this is mocking our law enforcement and is downright dishonest and even dangerous. remember they way they talked about the shoe bomber, if he succeed 100's would of been dead. Morris also talks about how the Liberals (becoming more fascistic) want to shut up conservative talk radio with the so called fairness's doctrine, the liberals hate free speech. Just lie their fascists predecessors. Morris does not just take on Liberals he shows how Big business, big government, big labor, and big lobbyists have both parties in their back pocket and how the American people are being fleeced. He also shows how the speculators are driving up the oil prices and much much more. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 05:59:06 EST)

Once upon a time the image was easier to picture. A smooth-talking wise guy would suddenly appear at the office of a judge or a politician with an envelope stuffed with cash. A deal that couldn't be refused was offered and accepted.
It was what it was, bribery and corruption, pure and simple. Now, as Dick Morris relentlessly points out, page after page, there may no longer be envelopes filled with cash, but there is a far more widespread, and insidious, form of corruption. It may debatably not be as bloody, but the effect is far more expansive, and expensive. And yet, politicians rationalize this neo-corruption as though it has devolved into a legitimate form of governing. After all, if everyone else is doing the same thing, it cannot be wrong - especially when there are so many convenient loopholes, and unexplainable rationalizations to hide behind. Wrong! In "Fleeced", Morris describes - and decries - the widespread corruption that compromises the most sacred principles of our Country. NB - in an earlier book, Lou Dobbs equally as passionately shows the impact of this corruption on the very people they allegedly represent in his book, "War Against The Middle Class". There are so may previous reviews regarding "Fleeced" that I will not redundantly repeat what this book covers, but it is a lot - and it is very tough to take. Suffice it to say that what we need is a new generation of Muckrakers and Untouchables to clean up Washington, and to present the nation with new images that are once again easy to understand - that of corrupting and corrupted lobbyists and politicians wearing handcuffs to bind their greedy hands, and scruffy raincoats to hide their shamed faces as they head off to prison. In short, "Fleece" will make you angry. More important, I hope it will make you think about your votes in the upcoming elections. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 05:59:06 EST)

The book is, literally, trash. I bought it thinking that it would contain intelligent commentary on the current political campaign and because it was hyped on conservative talk shows. It is full of typos, incorrect grammar, and poorly constructed charts. It is, literally, trash and only useful for lining bird cages. Not recommended for anyone with an IQ greater than 0. And, by the way, my personal political philocopy is somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun.

Although I'm still trying to finish reading this well-documented book, I have been made aware of and very alarmed at what is going on in our nation to weaken and make us vulnerable to collapsing from within. It is very disturbing to read what lobbyists from our country have done and are doing through major PR campaigns and other approaches to members of Congress to make rogue nations look favorable while those very nations seek to embarrass and/or destroy us. We are being sabotaged from within by lawmakers and former congressional leaders, including former President Clinton from their personal ties and financial gains with countries like Dubai. To learn how vast holdings of our country's real estate has been acquired by foreign nations, like Dubai is disheartening and frightening. This book informs, alarms and stirs you to want to get involved in a positive way to correct and change the downward spiral in which our nation is heading.

I surely enjoyed reading this book by Dick Morris. I could read only a few pages at a time because I got so mad at everybody I had to go read another book to get my mind off what is going on all over this country. How do we let people get away with these things? One thing is for sure--both Democrats and Republicans are guilty. When will we do something to stop this fleecing?

Fleeced was a surprisingly good book. I have not read Morris before but own his counter-spin analysis of Hillary's history (I'll get to it someday). You should know, up front, that Fleeced is improperly grouped with the Obama books but only the initial 40 pages or so concern him. After that Fleeced addresses a panoply of issues. The narrative and its subject matter are straight up populism. Morris has always had a populist edge to him and is more of a Republican than a conservative in my view. That being said, most of his observations are legitimate. Valid points are made concerning the futility of releasing the Guantanamo prisoners ad hoc, the way credit cards scam us with a myriad of fees and cloaked charges, the anti-work ethic of senators and Congressmen, and the nature of the subprime loan crisis. The book could have been 50 pages shorter though as there are innumerable lists included that probably don't need to be here. Apart from that, Morris and wife exceeded my expectations.

I like Dick Morris. I enjoy his commentaries on FoxNews and his columns in various media. I think Morris's politics are more libertarian than anything else, though some of his positions are conservative, which is not the same as Republicanism.
"Fleeced", however, strikes me as being written to make the cash register ring and not too much more. Morris and his partner of some kind, Eileen McGann, cover 18 topics ranging from what a President Obama would do to a rather strange chapter on public school teachers to homes built in flood plains. I got the feeling thst Morris threw in anything and everything that might attract attention and sell the book. While Morris is critical in some areas, I got the impression that he pulled his punches on others. Some of his positions strike me as odd. His chapter on why teachers are leaving teaching public schools struck me as strange. His remedy? More money, of course. That nostrum is rather stale when you look at how much has been expended on public education since the 1960s - and how little it has accomplished. Morris then goes on to justifiably lambasting the teacher's union. Morris goes from chastising the Clintons, a favorite activity of his, to a rant on poisonous toys and Hollywood's subversion of teenagers with scenes of smoking in movies. Overall, it's an odd book. As I said, I think it was written to induce as many people as possible to buy it - a goal that has been successfully reached, judging from the best seller lists. It isn't a bad book: just a strange book, even as it informs the reader. Jerry (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 05:59:06 EST)

I just don't get energized by his negativity - I don't agree with everything in this book, but I do some. For instance, I'm not sure if this makes my liberal or conservative, but why do we criticize the credit card companies for "fleecing us" when they are generous enough to lend money to people like us who run to them in desperation - it's a market thing! Just let them charge what they want and quit using the card if you want to stop getting fleeced! The market alone should dictate these things . . .
I was excited to get a copy and saw it in the airport on my way overseas, thinking it would be my one book for the 2 week trip - half-way to Paris I closed it and wish I had something else to read. I'm a Fox News fan so I see him on there all the time and he says the same things. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 05:59:07 EST)

Depicts the cultural conflicts between mainstream public and mainstream media. It is frightening how the secular progressive ideologue dominates the media. Even more frightening is the belief that "If the media or Hollywood says it it must be true."

No matter how many times it happens, the gullibility and ignorance of the American public never ceases to astound and amaze. Even the most indolent high-school drop-out should realize that we were in a DEPRESSION until FDR pulled us out of it and transformed the United States into the most wealthy and most powerful nation on Earth, and that that's where we remained until Reagan initiated a revolution of his own -- one that transformed our country from the biggest creditor and the largest producer of finished goods in the world, to the biggest debtor and the largest consumer of goods.
Now our jobs are overseas; we allow "free trade" while China, Japan, Korea, and India impose tariffs on our products; we talk about the "free market" while making it ILLEGAL for the US government to negotiate for lower prices with pharmaceutical companies and providing the oil industry with $15 billion in subsidies while it earns that much in a single fiscal quarter; and our businesses are going broke as a result of healthcare costs while health insurance CEOs are given bonuses that amount to more than $1 billion. And although the Republicans have controlled Congress for 12 of the last 14 years and the White House for the past eight, Morris claims that it's the fault of "the liberals." Not quite. Each point Morris makes is so easily refuted, it's downright silly. These are what he claims are "the facts" (followed by a brief response in CAPITAL LETTERS): The United States has released 425 terrorists from Guantánamo, at least 50 of whom have returned to the battlefield to fight our troops. THIS IS NOT ONLY FALSE, IT'S DELIBERATELY MISLEADING. FIRST, THE ONLY EVIDENCE OF ANYONE BEING RELEASED FROM GUANTANAMO AND RETURNING TO THE BATTLE FIELD IS ONE SINGLE INDIVIDUAL -- NOT 40, OR 30, OR 20. ONE. AND IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THAT MANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE PUT IN GUANTANAMO GOT THERE AS A RESULT OF WARLORDS TURNING IN INNOCENT PEOPLE IN EXCHANGE FOR THE BOUNTY WE PAID. SO CHARACTERIZING EVERYONE AS A "TERRORIST" -- EVEN AFTER THEY'VE BEEN ACQUITTED OF ALL CHARGES -- IS LUDICROUS. MORRIS MAKES THIS STUFF UP TO SELL BOOKS, AND YOU'RE BUYING THEM. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both say they're fiscally responsible. But each has called for $1 trillion in tax increases over the next ten years--and dressed them up as tax cuts! ACTUALLY, OBAMA HAVE CALLED FOR RAISING TAXES ON PEOPLE MAKING MORE THAN $250,000 A YEAR; PEOPLE MAKING LESS THAN THAT WILL ACTUALLY RECEIVE A TAX REDUCTION THAT'S THREE TIMES LARGER THAN THE ONE MCCAIN IS PROPOSING. BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE ECONOMIC POLICY INSTITUTE -- A NONPARTISAN GROUP OF ECONOMISTS WHO PROVIDE OBJECTIVE ANALYSES OF THIS STUFF -- HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT. (www.epi.org.) Mainstream Media has been given marching orders from the Society of Professional Journalists: never refer to "Islamic terrorists" or "Muslim terrorists." And they are obeying! Whenever our brave agents disrupt a terror plot, The media dismisses the culprits as a gang of idiots--lulling us into a false sense of security. THIS IS SO LUDICROUS IT'S HILARIOUS. THE "MAINSTREAM MEDIA" DOESN'T TAKE MARCHING ORDERS FROM PROFESSIONAL JOURNALIST SOCIETIES; THE MARCHING ORDERS ARE GIVEN BY THE HANDFUL OF GIANT CORPORATIONS THAT HAPPEN TO OWN THE MEDIA -- SUCH AS GENERAL ELECTRIC (WHICH OWNS NBC AND MSNBC AND DOES MAJOR DEFENSE CONTRACTING WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT); THE AUSSIE, RUPERT MURDOCH, THROUGH HIS NEWS CORPORATION (WHICH OWNS FOX, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, THE NY POST, 20TH CENTURY FOX, AND MYSPACE); TIME WARNER (WHICH OWNS CNN, TIME MAGAZINE, AND AOL); NATIONAL AMUSEMENTS (WHICH OWNS CBS CORPORATION, VIACOM, PARAMOUNT STUDIOS, AND SIMON & SCHUSTER BOOKS); DISNEY (WHICH OWNS ABC AND VARIOUS MOVIE STUDIOS); AND CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS (WHICH OWNS THE VAST MAJORITY OF RADIO STATIONS IN THE US, INCLUDING XM SATELLITE RADIO, AND A NUMBER OF OTHER TV AND PRINT MEDIA). BOTTOM LINE: THESE COMPANIES LIKE THE HUGE TAX CUTS THE GOP GAVE THEM AT THE EXPENSE OF ORDINARY AMERICANS, AND THEIR AGENDA IS DICTATED BY THOSE INTERESTS -- NOT SOME JOURNALIST SOCIETY. If the liberals win the 2008 election, they will cripple talk radio--forcing stations to give equal time to left-wing programs, and insisting that liberals play a key role in station management. THIS IS A FLAT-OUT LIE. MORRIS IS ALLUDING TO THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, WHICH REQUIRED THE MEDIA TO PROVIDE EQUAL TIME TO BOTH SIDES OF POLITICAL ISSUES UNTIL REAGAN DISPOSED OF IT IN THE 1980S. NO ONE -- IN EITHER PARTY -- HAS MADE ANY EFFORT TO BRING IT BACK; THE ONLY ONES WHO TALK ABOUT IT ARE RIGHT-WING RADIO HOSTS AND HACKS LIKE MORRIS, WHO LIKE TO BRING OUT BOOGIE MEN TO MAKE IT SEEM AS THOUGH RIGHT-WING COMMENTATORS ARE VICTIMS OF A RELENTLESS ATTACK BY THE LEFT. ACTUALLY, ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN CAN SEE THAT RADIO IS ALMOST COMPLETELY DOMINATED BY RIGHT-WING BLOW-HARDS LIKE LIMBAUGH, HANNITY, AND MYRIAD COPYCATS -- AND IT ISN'T BECAUSE OF "COMPETITION" IN THE MARKET PLACE. IF IT WAS, YOU'D SEE PROGRESSIVE TALKERS LIKE ED SCHULTZ AND THOM HARTMANN -- WHO CONSISTENTLY EQUAL OR BEAT HANNITY AND LIMBAUGH IN A NUMBER OF MAJOR MARKETS -- BEING PICKED UP BY MAJOR MEDIA. BUT THEY HAVEN'T, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY MAKE MONEY FOR STATION OWNERS. TO THE CONTRARY, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS IN WHICH CONSERVATIVE GROUPS HAVE ACTUALLY BOUGHT STATIONS CARRYING AIR AMERICA HOSTS FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF TAKING THEM OFF THE AIR -- ONE OF THE MOST SALIENT EXAMPLES BEING WHAT HAPPENED RECENTLY IN GEORGIA, WHERE A CHURCH GROUP BOUGHT THE AIR AMERICA STATION AND RAN CHURCH INFOMERCIALS ALL DAY AND NIGHT IN ITS PLACE. Up to a quarter of all state pension funds in the United States are invested in companies that are helping Iran, Syria, North Korea, or the Sudan--for a total of nearly $200 billion. THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE, BUT WHAT MORRIS DOESN'T TELL HIS READERS IS THAT THE EFFORT AT DIVESTMENT HAS BEEN BIPARTISAN (BOTH DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS HAVE CALLED ON GOVERNORS AND LEGISLATORS IN ALL 50 STATES TO DIVEST THEIR PENSION FUNDS FROM THESE COUNTRIES) AND THAT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION HAS OPPOSED THOSE EFFORTS. THIS IS WHAT A BUSH OFFICIAL SAID IN DECEMBER 2007: "The administration opposes proposals to authorize divestment by state and local governments, which impair the ability of the president to act on behalf of the nation as a whole and risk creating a multiplicity of foreign policies,'' said Adam Szubin, director of Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control, in testimony in October. The Do-Nothing Congress is still doing nothing--and the worst offenders are the presidential candidates Clinton, Obama, and McCain, who never show up for their day jobs as senators . . . except to pick up their $165,000 paycheck! TO THE EXTENT CONGRESS IS REALLY "DOING NOTHING," IT'S BECAUSE THE REPUBLICANS HAVE FILIBUSTERED LEGISLATION THE DEMOCRATS HAVE OFFERED NEARLY 100 TIMES IN THE LAST SESSION ALONE -- THE LARGEST NUMBER IN HISTORY -- EVEN THOUGH REPUBLICANS THREATENED TO DO AWAY WITH THE FILBUSTER (AFTER 140 YEARS) WHEN THEY WERE IN CONTROL OF CONGRESS, CLAIMING THAT THIS "NUCLEAR OPTION" WAS NECESSARY TO PREVENT THE DEMOCRATS FROM USING IT TO BLOCK APPOINTMENTS TO THE SUPREME COURT. THIS IS JUST ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF THE UTTER HYPOCRISY BY THE GOP. Bottom line: Morris used to be Clinton's best pal, until Fox offered to pay him as one of its "analysts." He's written a book full of utter BS to make money. You're free, of course, to spend your money on anything you'd like, but you'd be better off buying comic books if you're trying to educate yourself about the issues of the day. Now here's a book for the ages. You'll need to go into the 2008 elections with this information under your belt and Mr. Morris' facts and figures under control, if you hope that your vote will do the USA good!! I follow politics pretty regularly and consider myself to be a fairly conscious voter; but I didn't know 75% of the information that Mr. Dick Morris presents in this book, because no one else is reporting the facts about OBAMA!! Don't be a dupe of the conspiracy! The Soviet Socialists control our information!!! Make your final gasp for freedom of information before it becomes illeagal, next year!!

As a corporate director I am very concerned about the direction our nation is heading particularly in the areas of trade deficits, loss of manufacturing, lack of immigration reform and our wrong-headed energy policies (using our corn for fuel; how stupid is this). But more than these concerns are the concerns for my family and the American way of life. I can live with an incompetent government to a degree, but now our very lives are at stake due to our lose of direction.
This book is a must read for everyone that believes our nation and our way of life is important. As the book so adeptly points out, we are on a slippery slope and help does not seem to be on the horizon. Neither Congress nor the executive branch offers any hope. Our current presidential candidates are under-whelming to say the least. Maybe if Palin and Biden were on top of the ticket I would feel better - probably not. Please read this important book and pass along the information to others. The information is disturbing but very real and well researched. Just in case you're wondering, I vote Republican. Michael L. Words of Wazzupery from the Duke of Dimwit!
Can you trust a man that held rendezvous with ladies of the night in a fleebag Washington DC hotel and let them listen into phone conversations he had with President Clinton? Well, NO! Anyone that loses an argument to Bill O'Reilly and has to buy him dinner, can't have much to add to any political debate. You decide. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-07 01:16:16 EST)

This book shows how Democrats have turned this country into a "partissan" country and how the Democrats are only for "their" party and not the people, how they are against the "Patriot Act", etc...etc. Written by Dick Morris, former "Clinton Campaign Manager", he sheds insight into the world of politics like no one else can. Great book!

This is another Dick Morris must read. I have heard conservative talk radio talk about Congress trying to get rid of them. WHY? More people listen to TV than talk radio and being a registered Independent, I am continually irritated by Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, Campbell Brown even Tom Brokaw for their comments that "we" think----about whatever subject you want to bring up relating to the Democrats. I am for objective reporting for both parties and this is truly lacking in 2008.
As for Congress----it needs an overhaul. Foreign governments are indeed fleecing us for the benefit of the leaders, not the people. What makes it worse is that we borrow from China to lend to Middle East countries. I could go on------------------Read the book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-07 01:16:16 EST)

I suspect if I were consumed by the pathological hatred of Bill and Hillary Clinton that Dick Morris admittedly is then Fleeced would make more sense, carry more weight and frankly, be far more persuasive. The topics from Health Care to Media Bias are all ripe for a no holds barred examination in a "let the facts lead wherever they might" approach...
... it is unfortunate that Morris knee-caps himself at every turn. Morris writes as he talks with all the subtlety of a Molotov cocktail and consciously or not, manages to infuse almost every chapter and argument (no matter how salient) with an almost comical and circuitous return to the all-encompassing shadow of his former employers. This is a shame since Fleeced is a book based on personal sensibilities that I really wanted to embrace. Still a worthy, if embittered, read. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-05 01:13:21 EST)

The information within this book should be a required reading of all in politics on how not to govern. Of course, it is an example of how to spend and get your way in our government. Even worse in respects to the Obama info is the lacking of experience, the media in the tank views that have smoked screened the voters about the real Obama.

This is a well done expose of those who 'fleece' the citizenry in a number of ways.
In a book that has perhaps the longest subtitle ever, Dick Morris exposes those 'fleecers' including politicians on both sides of the political aisle, the media, big corporations, teachers' unions, and many more. As he is an equal opportunity basher, many readers will likely be offended in some way (he has examples of John McCain as well as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama). Some of the better parts of the book include the following: 1. Barack Obama - Morris outlines many problematic areas with the self proclaimed 'the one'. One of the most important parts is showing all of Obama's tax plans. Morris' conclusion: 'Together, these proposals would be crippling to our economy.' He does a great job of showing exactly how that would be. 2. The Do-Nothing Congress - Morris shows just how 'grueling' the work schedule is for our elected representatives. He documents how 'in the entire year 2007, the House of Representatives worked only three five-day workweeks.' That is just the tip of the iceberg for this group of slackers. He does a great job of showing a great many of their dubious 'accomplishments', which are laughable to say the least. He also makes a great point about how John McCain, Barack Obama, and others who have run for president have essentially taken anywhere from a few months to a couple of years off of this cushy job to run for president, skipped numerous votes, but still collect their paychecks. As he says, 'They're not doing their job. But they're all still getting paid -$165,000 a year! - for doing nothing.' 3. The plastic fleece - He shows numerous scams that the credit card companies do to rip off their customers. He goes through eleven ways that these corporations use to essentially steal. Although this would have been considered usury at one time, they are free to gouge people in some very disgusting ways. There are several others. I will forego further examples. Suffice it to say that there are many appalling ways that companies, government entities and others are gouging people. Morris has some solutions that, if implemented by large numbers of readers, could make a big difference. I would strongly recommend this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-05 01:13:21 EST)
