I bought this after my husband's second heartattack. At first, I thought the recipes required too much work and they didn't seem real tasty to me. I've never been big on fish. I didn't think my husband would like the food either. However, months later when I had gained more weight than I was comfortable with, I determined to give these recipes a try. I also took to heart the one suggestion of a couple who cooked some meals on the weekend so they'd have good meals ready for their on-the-go lifestyle during the week.
The recipes are so good and my husband likes them too. For the first time, he's eating Salmone and likes it. The only real work in preparing them is the chopping & dicing of the vegetables used in most meals. Once that is done, every meal is an absolute breeze. I haven't been able to work in an exercise program, yet. But I'm losing an average of 2 pounds a week and I've nearly gorged myself on the lunch & dinner meals for the first two weeks. Skeptical that we could lose weight with this diet, I decided to try it anyway. What a happy surprise! At the end of the 2-week weight-loss period, my husband had shed 14 pounds and I had lost 10. The recipes are simply delicious, even with substituting less expensive types of fish. I highly recommend this book, especially if you already enjoy Mediterranean/Italian foods, as we do.

I liked this book so much that I bought four more for family members. The recipes are easy to prepare and delicious. The diet is very healthful.

I am very disappointed in this book. The actual recipes make up only a small portion of the book. The rest of the book is the same stuff you find in any diet/healthy eating book; eat more vegetables, more whole grains and substitute this for that when eating out, etc. A chart of food counts. Health problems caused by eating wrong.
Then the actual recipes: Squid anyone? I guess it's called calamari, but never saw it in my local grocery store. And what is Branzino? Where does this guy shop for groceries? Want to cook more the Mediterranean way? Take your favorite chicken recipe, make sure it has lemons or tomatoes, and around 5 Tablespoons of Olive Oil! Sorry, tomatoes and chicken don't work for me. The book shows common sense application ways to eat and live daily. Physical activity,vegetables, fruit, legumes, dairy, nuts and seeds, olive oil and wine - daily then weekly fish, poultry, eggs, lean meat, monthly - veg. oils, sat. fats, ref. carb. sweets! Living on an island they had a low cancer and cardiac problem. Hmmm! They were not overweight! Just following the first part stressing more veg. and fruit I lost weight fast! My skin looked better. It's easy. I noted my temper was better too! It's an easy cooking diet!

I got this book as was fed up with fad diets and it has made me change my eating habits completely. I now buy all fresh produce and use olive oil alot! the chick peas salad is really good, i never ate chick peas before. I live on fish, veg and fruit and now eat very little meat. I have dropped 6lbs in 3 weeks so im sticking to this as i never get hungry and love preparing the food. Great book, great recipes.

Great book, not like a diet, but this book will help you lose weight and stay healthy for life. Full of excellent recipes and meal plans. I have lost five pounds in just a week on this plan. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in eating healthier.

I have been following just the "maintenance" stage of this book and have lost 4 pounds in under a week. The food is delicious and so healthy. I highly recommend it for anyone who does or doesn't need to lose weight, while eating healthy and great tasting foods. The book is very informative and interesting on foods and how they relate to your body's health. There are also many great recipes. I believe this is the way God intended us to eat.

I purchased this book for my mother-in-law, who is interested in giving the Mediterranean Diet a try. The book gives helpful information about the diet, as well as recipes to try. My MIL was very happy to receive it and looks forward to reading it.

Every recipe I have done is a winner with my kids and I. They are very easy as well as good. We already have a favorite, the Sweet and Sour Red Snapper. I make this with different types of fish once a week. If I run across a recipe with an ingredient that I don't have, it is easy to substitute and unnoticible. Glad I ordered this one!

This is simply an outstanding book, the recipe's are fantastic, the advice outstanding.
I would advice (as the author does) that you try all recipes, even if you think they don't sound all that good. We've found that all of them are quite tasty, and easy to make. I even bought this book for others in my family, and they love it too! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-30 15:45:10 EST)

The book wa swhat I had expected. it came in in excellent condition, practically brand new, well wrapped for protection but a little slow in delivery.
