I first read this book while I was learning to be a mortgage solicitor a few years back. I like how the book covers in detail all the information you need to get a loan backed by a mortgage. It covers everything from the loan process to a description of the types of loans you can obtain. This is important when shopping for a loan so you can make the best decision regarding this import financial move you will make.
I like how thorough this book is for the average reader and can be read in a few days. The book may seem strange because it is in question and answer format which some people may not like. This book still has charts on interest and amortization schedules, this is best left to "The Mortgage Kit". Some of the sections include: 1. The Mortgage Market Overview which describes the different aspects of the mortgages; from the brokers to the loan process. 2. Qualifying for a mortgage, the most important section of the book. 3. Comparison shopping which discusses the option to rent or to buy a house; Points, no closing costs loans and should you get a loan or pay cash. 4. Conventional Loans which describes the different and most common loans made be lenders in the mortgage arena. 5. Private Mortgage insurance for those who can not afford at least 20% down payment. 6. Adjustable rate mortgages. 7. Federal Housing Administration loans and their qualifications. 8. VA loan loans and how to get them. 9. Loan Programs with leverage. 10. Leverage from the seller such as seller financing. 11. After Closing: Managing the Mortgage. I recommend this book and the Mortgage Kit (see my review) if you are shopping for a house these days. If I could give him 4 ½ stars I would. Enjoy (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-12-27 09:26:46 EST)
