This book contains a set of exercises and activities which have, in at least two cases that I know of, brought small businesses from near-insolvency to client saturation. Without spending for advertising, there are multiple techniques and a framework for effective implementation to make a company visible to its potential clients. You should have a buddy to do the 28 days, but it doesn't have to be someone from your own company or even your own industry. You can find one through the companion website if needed. It's like Nike: just do it.

This second edition is a sound primer for those in any profession looking to build their business. It emphasizes the notion of an entire marketing cycle and process. The process never ends and you need to devote as much time and effort to the marketing process as you do toward the technical aspects of your profession. That is a hard conceptual wall for many to break through.
GET CLIENTS NOW! has a practical. hands-on bent with leads to lots of other books, resources, articles, websites, etc. It has useful forms and sound day by day tips on jumpstarting your marketing efforts. This book is pretty good way of getting new clients. I read each page with interest but could not get into following the daily ritual of doing tasks like cold calling contacts, warm contacts, networking, speeches e.t.c. It reads more like business coaching and generalized and may be more of fit for coaches. I skipped most of the hurah and completed the book. Overcoming sales objections e.t.c., small business networking and other tools proved to be valuable reading though. would recommend this book but should be coupled with supplementary reading on the subject.

I had a marketing plan set up that worked after spending about three hours reading this book. It works ! It explains the nuts and bolts of marketing, without all the typical sales fluff and self-promotion. No fish or moved cheese here, just nuts and bolts marketing.

As a former marketer there were not many new ideas in this book for what to do to garner new business. While it is always helpful to have reminders for building one's practice, the real value of this book comes from its process for actually putting the ideas into practice. The book offers a process, a discipline for making things happen. A welcome addition to my library.

There are millions of sales books. Most are a high on strategy and low on practicality. This book is all about doing: complete with forms, checklists, charts, and to-do lists. This book is easy to read, implement, and follow. In-fact, I've never encountered another book with such precise instructions, including a roadmap that branches off into the various kind of activities that can be used to get more business. It not only includes that roadmap but detailed instructions for each specific tactic and activity that can be used to get clients. This book will become one of the few books you use on a consistent and regular basis.
If you use Ms. Hayden's program you will get clients, and fast. Not only that you'll have the increased confidence and satisfaction of doing something that directly impacts your results, not simply waiting until the phone rings or marketing sends you a lead. I loved this book because it has made money for me, increased sales, and made the 'marketing' element of my job fun again. Perhaps just as important you can measure what is working and what isn't, trying different activities and tracking their results. Great book! I've been professionally designing and conducting sales training for 15 years and have never come across a book like this. It is well designed from a learning perspective and gets right down to the nitty gritty of how to get clients! C.J. Hayden is excellent at taking an overwhelming process and putting it in to a simple structure that works. If you are a new consultant, coach or professional selling services, and are tired of hearing the what and the why and need the how to this book is for you.

Very useful product, with many templates ot use. Information is broad and general enough to allow to use in many different professions; from real estate, to therapists to coaching and consulting. Yet information is presented in a way that allows for it to easily lend itself to any of the above professions.

The title of the book is more exciting than the information within the book. I would not recommend this book and wish I could find my receipt for a return.

"Get Clients Now" is absolutely effective for the would be entrepeneur who needs to get off of the bubble in acquiring prospects, interested people and clients. It is a well written book/manual that is a tremendous tool in starting the "sales" cycle. Easy to read, easy to follow, you will learn to make the right choices about where to focus your marketing energy and...you will make them. In a word, it helps you move. This book, and the program within, is simply superb - I won't go over all the other things said, instead I'll give 2 examples:
1. It's the first marketing book I've ever seen that rates the various methods (advertising, networking, referrals, website, etc.) in terms of their effectiveness of getting clients. 2. The author acknowledges up front that marketing for a professional services type business (consultants, lawyers, etc.) IS different from marketing other service or product businesses. Get Clients Now! helped me stop all the thinking going on in my head, and got me into doing. I went from an attitude of: "The last thing I need is another marketing program," to "I will take these exact action steps to get a client!" I felt like C.J. was reaching back into her quiver, and releasing an arrow straight into the heart of my problem: motivation. As I read the book, and do the exercises laid out for me, I clearly see what is blocking me from moving forward in my marketing and sales, and I know just what actions I can take each day of the week in order to see real results within 28 days. The best part is that the plans are easy to follow. CJ Hayden is a master at creating simple templates that translate to action. Hayden provides the elements necessary to create a 28 day step-by-step marketing plan that is all about taking consistent, purposeful action and measuring the results, no matter how small the action. She combines the tactical elements of marketing with having a success mindset which is reinforced with the daily coaching provided in the book. In a very readable style CJ Hayden presents a well structured method for building up your marketing. The book is aimed at the self employed and small businesses and Ms Hayden shows a good understanding of the difficulties we face in marketing ourselves. This is a workbook with sheets to fill in and tasks to do, and it is well worth the effort. Stick at it and you will improve your market profile, the leads you generate, and the number of presentations you get. There are no magic pills here. The author guides you through what you need to do, but ultimately you need to make those calls !. This is the best small business marketing plan I have seen. There are no secrets to marketing a small business. It comes down to legwork and "Get Clients Now" provides a very good structure to guide your efforts.

By following her 28-day plan, you put into place a lead-generating system matched to your personal skills and inclinations. She shows you how to build a repeatable process for attracting clients to your business. I have over 40 years of marketing experience and I have read many books on marketing. This one book gives the particulars on understanding the marketing/sales cycle and the six marketing strategies from most effective to least effective and explains why they are ranked that way. Then it gives you all of the tactics available for each of the six strategies. This enables you to see where you are currently in marketing, what you don't know about marketing and where you could be in your marketing process. Lastly, the book enables you to create an action plan to address your marketing needs in the most leveraged manner taking you through a month long program of action. If you are in a professional services firm this book is really all you would need from an information perspective.

I'm not fan of business and marketing books, but I picked this one up and started reading it this weekend. It immediately has inspired me to begin the program. Hayden doesn't introduce any radically different marketing strategies. If you've been trying to build a business and if you've read other books or articles on marketing, you know how important it is to gain prospects, do follow-up, network, and advertise. She covers all those traditional marketing strategies. But what makes this book different is that she provides a program approach that will help you get focused and measure your growth and results.
Get Clients Now! is very accessiable and useful for those who don't like marketing their business but know they need to in order for their business to survive. Her 28-day plan puts in you control. It's not about doing things her way, but about doing things that are unique to your particular strengths and needs for marketing your business. I'm just starting the program today, but already I can see that I will reach my goals or part of them by the end of the program. And even if I don't reach my ultimate goals, I know that I'll be doing 75% dmore for my business in terms of marketing than I've done in the past year or so.
