Best purchase possible, for a Hebrew English Siddur, if you are looking for both quality translation and commentary.

An invaluable source for the most common prayers used in the Jewish faith both Sephardic and Ashkenazic, with distinction and references delineating which is which. Organized in the flow of the daily observances, it is exceedingly simple to follow along and the facing English-Hebrew pages make cross-referencing a snap for those trying to learn the language. I highly recommend this book for both the curious and dedicated.

I specifically bought this because I wanted a siddur that showed me where I needed to be for the various services. I thought this book would do the trick because of its clear fonts and color coding, but frankly I was disappointed. If I'm, say, in the middle of Mincha and I'm supposed to skip to a page, then I'd like to know that without having to fumble through and trying to catch up on my own. Other than a too-simple TOC, there's no navigational guidance through the book.

The complete Artscroll Siddur is brilliant for the newly religious. It has parrallel translation on the left hand page and hebrew on the right with instructions for prayer in english on both sides, guiding the reader as he learns how to pray and eventually prays without any guides. The complete siddur includes Shabbat and weekday prayers as well as Shabbat dinner and all the minor and major holidays as well as everything else such as Rosh Chodesh that one may com across in Judaism. It is not a Machzor but it is very helpful.
