In addition to more than 25 blossom patterns, including water lilies, poppies, orchids, and roses, whimsical insect patterns populate this everlasting garden. The Beaded Garden: Creating Flowers with Beads and Thread
This book is a little treasure trove. Diane is known everywhere as a great beader/designer/teacher.
I have long admired her work but had never tried any of her projects. This book is mostly peyote and square stitch and is an excellent guide to really beautiful beaded flowers. This technique is entirely
different than the French beaded flowers I've always made and a nice change. I just finished my first beautiful flower and am making it into a broach. Being me, I had to add a bit of sparkle. This book is a delight.

The Beaded Garden: Creating Flowers with Beads and ThreadThe directions are easy to follow. Some pieces are a little over done and I would prefer a "little less". You will not be disappointed when you get it and your knowledge base will have been increased.

Another one of Diane Fitzgerald's great beadwork books. Even if you are a beader who is not at all interested in making flowers, beadwork patterns for the flowers can be adapted to other beadwork - or, you can try a flower! The instructions are well written, photos are helpful, completed project pictures are motivating. This is another must have for your beadwork library.

I visit the book store several times a week to look at bead books, but I haven't actually bought one in months because nothing seemed to be really different or exciting. This book is different. I have been experimenting with beaded flowers using off-loom techniques for a while now, and I've had to compile patterns and techniques from various sources. This book has all of those techniques in one place so I can stop looking for projects and get back to the good stuff (beading!). I can't wait to get started playing with these gorgeous flowers.

(Hide Review...)  Awesome Beading Book!

I have owned my copy of The Beaded Garden for two years, and absolutely love creating these beautiful little gems. Every flower I've made from Diane Fitzgerald's clear, concise, and easy-to-follow patterns has turned out wonderfully. I have worked with many bead patterns over the years, and find Diane's directions to be among the best laid out, clear instructions I have found. The step-by-step patterns are extremely well written and easy to follow.

Not only is there a huge variety of patterns in this book, there are ideas and encouragement to branch out (excuse the pun!) on your own. After beading a few of these delightful flowers, you will find yourself studying every flower in your garden and thinking about how to recreate them in beads. I find myself unable to pick up my bead needle for other projects because there is always another flower I want to try....or need to replace because I've given away so many from my beaded bouquet! You will be amazed with the flowers you create. They make great gifts, embellishments, and even refrigerator magnets (glue a magnet to the back of a rose!).

If you love to bead, will LOVE this book!

I have been beading for many years and found this book one of the easiest and most fun to use. I wish I would have had this one when I started out. I have made all the flowers in the book and have been inspired to try a few not in the book. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow and once you learn a few techniques you can create your own fantasy flowers. I highly reccomend this book to all level of beader.

I love the look of beaded flowers but I don't like working with wire (or having the wire show in the work). This book is the answer. All the flowers are done with thread. They work up wonderfully using peyote, herringbone stitch, etc. They come out looking like the pictures in the book. The directions are well written and produce the flowers shown. I love this book. I have found so many uses for the different flowers of all sizes. I can't decide which my favorite is! This is a book I was very glad I added to my expanding "beading" library.

(Hide Review...)  Beautiful pictures but sadly lacking in visual directions
Reviewer Permalink
I am a seasoned beader and wire worker but have only in the last few months branched off into the wonderful and adictive world of seed beads, but this book just does not have the proper amount of visual instructions even for my newness to the craft. I find my self thumbing through the pages wistfully wanting to do some of the very interesting projects with in, but sadly I have not as yet been able to put one of the projects into use. I esspecialy would like to make the tiny versions of daffodils...someday after a few more classes I hope. If you are a non visual learner and can pick it up from written instruction this book would be great for you.

(Hide Review...)  Some projects have poor directions
Reviewer Permalink
This is a very attractive book with lots of information about forming flowers, leaves and stems. However, I have had several problems with inaccuracy with directions. Point: I have made 7 roses per directions in the book. NONE have come out the way they look in the book. I followed the given directions and the rose was too tight...as were all the others I made. I tried not gathering to tight - same result. I tried skipping some of the contact beads and that got tricky and still didn't get the look in the book. Now, I am simply experimenting with my own ideas and see how that works. But, what a lot of wasted time, thread and beads trying to get it right!

I just LOVE this book! I started a project as soon as the book arrived and have finished several others since. The instructions are clear, concise, and easy to follow. The stitches used are peyote, brick, and herringbone, to create AMAZINGLY beautiful and dainty beadwork gardens. I have made french-beaded (wire construction) flowers for many years and though I still enjoy the vintage-style that they create, the wire structure has never thrilled me....so this book (utilizing thread construction) really excited me, and it has delivered everything that the Vibrant Book Cover eludes to! I am especially fond of the mini flowers and have made an entire batch of "thimble bouquets" using the tiny treasures within a sewing thimble for the "flower pot". They are going to be favors for a Spring Luncheon I am hosting for my special friends and I can't wait to hear their "oohs" an "aahhs". I think if you love beadwork and exquisite flowers you will ADORE this book. It holds a place of honor in my bead box....not even admonished to the bookshelf where the majority of my 30+ beading books reside. Have fun!

This book is just a wonderful tool if you want to make flowers using bead weaving instead of wire. The projects are well laid out and directions are so easy to follow. I received the book and started a project that same day, as I was just too excited to wait. I keep this book within easy reach all of the time, as a flower or two always comes in handy when you are looking for that different or special "finishing touch". I can really recommend this book to anyone who loves beading and flowers and don't believe you need to be an expert to enjoy making the projects or following the well written directions.

This book is different from other books on beaded flower construction. Instead of using wire frames and filling in with wire strung beads petal by petal, this book uses peyote, brick, and herringbone stitches to sculpt each flower. The look and approach is completely different. So if you love the idea of beaded flowers, but the look of the old fashioned wire ones don't turn you on---this is your book!
The book also has great photos, instructions, and inspiration.
