Dr. Edward Granville Browne was a British citizen and was a scholar in field of Iran about its religion, culture, and history who illustrated sympathy to Iranians during Constitutional Revolution in Iran which was a turning point in Iran's history.
In this book of him, he went through great to make a historical document for international community about Russian and British brutality which was imposed upon Iranian. Russia invaded Iran with blessing of Britain, and took over northern part of Iran. This book focused on city of Tabriz that how Russian soldiers were molesting Iranians, robbing their properties, demolition their homes because people did not want to have a despotic regime, and wanted to have constitution in order curtail the king's power. Iranians were tortured by Russians or some Iranians who were in payroll of Russians would take part in torture and killing other Iranians. Then, brave Iranians would march to gallows. There was one form of torture which was horrible. A victim would be put in a bucket full of water, and would be force to submerge in the bucket and when the victim would ran out of air, he would rose-up to get some fresh air, and men would strike the victim on top of his skull, which would cause the victim to submerge, and eventual death. After reading this book, I came to conclusion that how someone can become a communist and support Russia? You must be a traitor. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-12 09:10:37 EST)
