Without a doubt this is an essential key to success in civil procedure. I basically outlined this book along with my class notes and got an A on the exam. Very, very, very good aid.

Glannon's guide is God send. if you purchase Glannon's E&E, you must also purchase his guide to learning Civ Pro through MCQ's. It is great!

Love it!

Glannon clearly and succinctly provides examples of possible multiple choice questions that could be found on exams. Unlike a lot of other guides I've seen...it's not confusing and it's not a chore to read through the book.

This book was a great edition to my studying arsenal for Civil Procedure. My exam was all multiple choice and this book really gets you in the mindset of thinking in terms of multiple choice questions. Each chapter is very concise and short, allowing you to work through the whole book in a short amount of time. Glannon's method of Black Letter introduction followed by a multiple choice question was really effective to learn the law QUICK and figure out how to apply it in a nuanced fashion. I literally had 2 days to study for a 4-credit Civ Pro class and this book did the trick. I would highly recommend it, even if your exam will not be multiple choice.

This guide is clear and easy to use. I used it to clear up questions while preparing my outline and it helped me on the exam. The study questions included in the book were a great way to practice applying the material before the exam.

(Hide Review...)  Better than E&E, easy to follow.

Glannon is easy to read and understand, and he adds light moments that are welcome during intensive studying. I'm not a big fan of his Examples & Explanations. They are well done, but you basically have to use it throughout the semester along with your regular text book - and let's face, many of us are already pressured enough with all the regular reading. This book is one you can use in the last few weeks before exams, and really clear up any of the confusions on the main subjects. For me, it was invaluable for Personal, Subject Matter, and Supplemental Jurisdiction.

I bought the Glannon Guide instead of E&E sort of by accident, but it was fantastic. The E&E is also a great help, but this one is a faster read and the MC questions throughout the chapter are helpful for appying what you learn. I spent an entire day during finals week(s) reading this book, and it was the absolute best use of my time. Thanks Prof. Glannon =)

Civ Pro is not something that ever really "clicks" all at once for most students. For me, reading this book cleared up most of my confusion. Highlights of this title are Joinder, Supplemental Jurisdiction, Claim and Issue Preclusion, and the multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter. I would rely on E&E for a clear picture of Erie. One thing this book does not cover is Class Actions, a topic most classes spend a decent amount of time on, although not an easy topic for a prof to test on in essay format...then again, any Class Action chapter will be outdated due to the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005. All in all, get this book if you are the least bit confused about Civ Pro

I slacked through 2nd semester of law school. About one week before the final, I purchased this book. I sat down and it was actually fun to read. The questions and quizzes in the book are humorous as well as challenging. I completed the book in 3 days. I went into my exam confident that I would do okay, at least enough to not embarass myself. Using this alone, and not having read a single case, I earned an A. The book was so in depth and detailed. I plan to reread it in preperation for the bar. I highly recommend this book. If you actually read your casebook as well as this, you'll be at the top of your class.

I purchased this book by mistake, as I thought we would have multiple choice test on the final exam. I wish I had this book from day one, 1L. This is not so much of a book on multiple choice, as it is an easy to use, hornbook supplement, presented in multiple choice format.

There were small areas covered in this book that I did not find anywhere else. Coincidently, some of these areas were covered in my final exam essays.

If you are taking CivPro now, you will probably agree that Supplemental Jurisdiction, Erie v. Tompkins, and joinder issues, can get confusing. This book helps clear them up.

A great thing about this book is that is is broken into sections, so it can be used to supplement cases, and hornbook reading, and does not add too much work load to do so.

Get this book from day one of Civ Pro, and use it. It will make a huge difference in your outline taking, and exam scores.

I currently have Glannon as my professor for Civil Procedure, and we use his "Examples and Explanations" book as our official guide to the course. However, I was advised by other law students to pick up this book as a supplement to E&E when studying for the midterm.

In my opinion, the Glannon Guide is the better book of the two. It is easier to read (certainly faster) and the examples are completely relevant to the material. The multiple choice format is a great way to test yourself on whether you're adequately familiar with the basics. While E&E is certainly thorough, the Glannon Guide moves along quickly and nails down the rules without getting bogged down in potentially confusing details.

If you need to brush up on Civ Pro (especially if you're short on time), pick this one up.

(Hide Review...)  Easier read than the E&E
Reviewer Permalink
I bought this book after I tried to learn from Glannon's Civ Pro Examples & Explanations. This one is much simpler to read through because there aren't as many examples & explanations getting in the way. Also in this book, Glannon works the multiple choice questions into the explanation and progression of each chapter. I liked this one because there were on average 7-8 multiple choice questions per chapter. Contrast that with the E&E book which had twice as many questions.
The E&E book also laid out the lessons, then lumped all the questions at the end of every chapter with a separate answer section. I hated flipping back and forth.
Overall this book has clearer explanations, is easier to learn from, and is slightly smaller than the Examples & Explanations book.

(Hide Review...)  Great First Year Review
Reviewer Permalink
Glannon takes E&E to a new multiple choice format. The book is designed as a review of your standard first year civil procedure class - and performs that role spectacularly! I thought this was a terrific purchase. The book gave me a great review of civil procedure and great practice for multiple choice exams.
