I received my Kindle as a gift in August and have throroughly enjoyed it but couldn't have as much without the Windwalker guide. I, of course, downloaded it right after getting the Kindle and was so impressed I ordered the hard copy so I would be easier able to reference something as I was reading or surfing. As I indicated, the Kindle and the guide go with me together as a pair.

The Complete User's Guide to the Amazing Amazon Kindle
I found this book to be interesting, helpful and an easy read. I purchased a "Kindle" and was looking for information to make my experience with the Kindle a good one. Steve's book not only met all my needs but he personally went the extra step to direct me to other helpful sites to help me in my own search to self-publish. If you have purchased a "Kindle" and need a few pointers this is the book for you. And as an extra bonus you'll find some really good bargains inside. Thank you Steve for a wonderful read. Mr. Windwalker's enthusiasm for the Kindle shines through in the enthusiasm of his writing as well as in the range of tips, advice, and thoughts he provides on the Kindle.
Obviously, as with any book of this type, Kindle users will have discovered some or many of the ideas presented for themselves. However, even I, a true Kindle lover and gadget geek, mined valuable information that I had not discovered on my own. The tips range from the merely fun (how to find Minesweeper) to the extremely useful (where to find free content, keyboard shortcuts, how to use the Kindle during travel, how to manage photos and audio files). To me, the most fun and interesting part of the book were the author's speculations on the possible future of the Kindle and how it might be a paradigm-changing device. Everyone who owns a Kindle should also own this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-19 07:51:28 EST)

This book will help you understand your new Kindle. It is a "How to" book for the Kindle. Do not pass up this book. The Kindle is an amazing piece of technology and this book makes understanding it so easy. I give this book 10 stars.

This is a complete waste of digital space. Improperly described, it is more of an advertisement for the author's other books. .1 star would have been my choice were it available.

This book was my first Kindle purchase, because I was looking for some info on how to use the device. Little did I know how this seemingly helpful chap would misuse my e-mail address to promote his political ideology!
The book is "OK" -- it covers the basics, and gets you to the point where you can use the fundamental features, but it does not go too much further. On the book's content alone, I would maybe give it 2-1/2 stars. I then went on to follow his suggestion of adding my e-mail address to his list. He claimed that he would be sending alerts when his Kindle book was updated. Surprised was my reaction this morning when I opened a lengthy e-mail from Stephen Windwalker (yes, it was a real e-mail from him) in which he wrote an extensive note about the importance of buying a Kindle book that paints a certain female candidate for VP in a very negative light. I have read several books and articles about that particular candidate -- enough to realize what is agenda-driven and what is detached accounting of the facts. The rag this Windwalker guy is pushing is something that clearly advances one particular political opinion. Whether you agree with Windwalker's viewpoint or not, how dare he mis-use my e-mail address to send me his thinly-veiled political opinions! I would therefore recommend find an alternative source of Kindle information, and definitely not providing your e-mail address to this guy. The "sheep in wolves' clothing" image comes to mind. I loved the Kindle from the moment I took off the wrappings, but had no idea what else it could do beside being a book until I read Stephen's book. And, he means it when he says "if you get stuck, send me an email." He responded to my pleas for help within minutes, and he got me 'un-stuck' more than once.

Seems people either love this material or hate it. When I buy something new I try and find something to use besides what the owners' guide. The Kindle is a remarkable piece of hardware, and the author has listed a lot of things it can do not mentioned in the materials that Amazon makes available, which is quite good. The reason I decided to spend the money for the Kindle was to read, not trying to figure out all the side goodies in it. It is worth far more than the cost.

This book was the first one I bought for my Kindle. I had figured out the basics about my Kindle, but this book helped me to learn to utilize my Kindle fully. It's actually the kind of book that Amazon should have included with the Kindle purchase. I'm pretty good with technology and gadgets, but who has the time to spend figuring out the finer point? This book explains the finer points for you. As a 12th grade English teacher, I'll be using my Kindle in class to store my lessons and texts, and I need to be thoroughly familiar with it--this book helped me with that. I really think _The Complete User's Guide to the Amazing Amazon Kindle_ is worth the money and will help anyone who doesn't have the time or inclination to work out the details themselves. Amazon, I think you're missing the boat: You should include this book on the Kindle already, and give Mr. Windwalker a healthy cut!

Author provides simple instructions which will help you learn all that our mighty Kindle can do. Since I am far from being a computer guru the book has been just what I needed to learn to get the most from Kindle, without talking down to the reader.

The Complete User's Guide to the Amazing Amazon Kindle ((Labor Day Weekend Special!))
This is the best buy I have ever made. Not only is the book straight-forward, but it is easy to understand. I have now downloaded it as a Word document so I have it by my side until my poor memory of how to use the Kindle gets better. This Kindle download was a fun read. Not only did I learn a bit of how Kindle was created but I learned that it is much more than just a Reader.
I did a lot of "WOW" while reading this. Sure, I could have found most, if not all, of this information by doing some of my own research on the web or tinkering with my new toy, but why bother. At this price, all the searching was done for me. I enjoyed the non-techy language and simple to use instructions. It was fun learning about my new little gadget (which I love). Well worth the download!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-28 01:14:06 EST)

I found the book worth the money I paid for it. I thought it had a lot of tips that the Users Guide which came with the Kindle did not include. I admit I am not that technical -- someone who already knows a lot might not need this, but I found it helps me get the most out of my purchase. The Kindle is expensive. The small amount of money this book costs relative to the cost of the Kindle, so that you can maximize your use of the device, made it worth it to me.

Being somewhat over the age of consent, I have found this publication to be extremely helpful. It is a work in progress. A particularly attractive feature is that you can receive updates as they become available. Don't expect that from your Funk and Wagnalls. The author gently led me through information about features that are hardly touched upon in the user handbook and not at all in their advertising. I look forward to more information as it is developed. Thank you Mr. Windwalker.

I found the guide to be very helpful and extremely detailed. I was able to learn more regarding how to use my Kindle from this guide than from the reference guide that came with my Kindle. The guide also provided a lot of useful links and I really liked the links to free ebook downloads. Well worth the BETA price for certain.
I am a weekly traveling consultant and spend a lot of time on planes and in hotels. My Kindle is the perfect travel companion. I found this guide to be very resourceful and it contains a lot of useful information and it is much easier to read than the manual that came with the Kindle. It also saved me a lot of trial and error time. I realize that not every one can be pleased but I have no complaints especially considering how little this item cost. I appreciate that the author put a lot of effort into learning how to use his Kindle and for taking the time to share this information in written form. My Kindle was a gift and I was skeptical. Then I read Stephen Windwalker's User's Guide and he converted me into a Kindle enthusiast. He gives well-written, lucid and simple instructions on the varied functionalities of this amazing product. I have downloaded a number of books, many of them free, and have no worries about being bored on a plane or having to lug a lot of books with me.

I bought the Kindle three days before departing on a two month trip to a small village in the Rhodphi Mountains in Bulgaria. It was loaded with 26 books. The Kindle provided me with countless hours of reading pleasure and ample opportunity to read and think in a place where no books in English or French were available. It is simple to use and has a feature that makes it attractive to people who wear glasses, the size of the text can be adjusted.
The Kindles is truly remarkable. I hope in the coming months the technology will evolve in order to allow its users who are out of the United States access to more of its features. I almost ran out out of books to read. Having said that, for anyone who does a great deal of traveling this device is a miracle and I would recommend it highly. The Kindles is one of the great advances in technology. For once a machine has been invented that really does what it says it supposed to do. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-11 12:10:35 EST)

If it is your intent to use your Kindle as a Google web browser, this is for you. If not, save your money, even if it is only $2. I use an Iphone.
I have full web browser portability, send email, text message, etc. I haver no use for my Kindle in those tasks. I bought this text hoping to get more information on the toggling functions of the unit. No such luck! From this paper, I learned: How to view the time on the Kindle; how to use the ALT/x key functions for various duties but those are covered in the miniscule manual included with the Kindle; and I learned how to better secure the kindle into it's jacket. That's it. I still don't how to use the page toggles effectively as I'm constantly toggling away from my page accidentally and then can't get back. As I said, if you need Google web browser and Gmail capability, this is for you. Otherwise, just send me the $2. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-08 00:28:25 EST)

As soon as I bought the Kindle I picked this book up. It let me understand the 'hidden' capabilities of Kindle. For example, I use the slideshow feature of Kindle described in this book immediately to turn the pages automatically for me when I am working out on a bike or a treadmill. To give me enough time to read the page while working out I set the font size to be maximum. I listen to the music while working out with Kindle as well. For someone who just bought Kindle, this book will get you started quickly and serves as a quick reference in the Kindle. I use the search feature of Kindle to hit the information in the ebook whenever I want to lookup. Highly recommend buying this book, for this price you will not regret it.

I am extremely disappointed in this pamphlet. I recently purchased a Kindle (which I love, by the way)and wish to know about everything it can do. This 'book' seemed like it would be worth a try, particularly since it was marked down from $4.95 to 99 cents. How can you go wrong on 99 cents, right? (Although today I see the price is $2.39.??) I found this to have only one chapter (I believe it was #12)that had anything even vaguely helpful. I now know how to play Minesweeper! There were a few other tips, but the majority of the beginning chapters were more or less a screed for the Kindle. Also, if you want to self publish for the Kindle it could be helpful indeed. I feel somewhat mislead - where were the '100 pages of other cool tips'.
Highly misleading. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-04 09:17:46 EST)

I missed the word "excerpt" in the book description. What you get is a tiny excerpt that tells you how to use the Kindle Browser to read blogs via the Google Reader. Might be worth the $2.50 price if there were a dozen other articles of similar depth. As is, not worth the money.

This is only four stars because I'm waiting eagerly for the rest of the book. I have had my kindle now for about three weeks...and love it! But I found the manual that came with the unit a little thin on info for actually using it. This article showed me several tricks that I use now, and I am looking forward to getting more time to explore the email aspects, along with reading the complete book. It was worth the small investment to help me get the most out of the Kindle, especially since some of the finer points weren't readily available in the included documentation. I say it's worth every penny.

If you are buying a Kindle and are new at the game, this is a worthwhile investment. It gives you all sorts of information you may not pick up on from the Kindle Users Guide. It has the bonus of regular updates on the Kindle and the promise of a no-cost copy of the finished book when it is published later this year [2008]. You also can get a bunch of links to interesting Kindle websites. I have had my Kindle for about 2 weeks now and find it worth every penny I spent on it. It works just as advertised and is extremely practical. This guide got me started right from the beginning; explaining features I would still not have known about if I had depended solely on the Kindle Users Guide. If you are wondering whether to go ahead and buy the Kindle, I urge you to take the plunge. Just be sure to add this article to the order!

I like the Kindle, but I don't like the endless nickel-and-diming to death that comes with it. The dime charge for putting an email attachment on your Kindle makes it literal.
This book is another example. Amazon, maker of the Kindle, produces a book on how to use their product. But you have to pay extra for the manual. That's outlandish. It's a small amount, but for $400 the thing should come with the complete instructions. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-07 01:10:50 EST)

I cannot disagree with many of the posted reviews. This book is a little light on content. Much of it can be found in the user guide that came loaded on the Kindle. But, then again, you buy for pennies more than two bucks.
I love my Kindle. I received it in December. I have subscribed to newspapers, blogs and magazines. Books are great to read on it. I particularly love it when I travel. With Whispernet, a new book is never out of reach. Although I am a satisfied user, this book whets my whistle with potential applications. While I use it, I have a sense that it will do much more. For two bucks, this book opened my eyes to many of those new gadgets and applications. Plus, one of Kindle's promises intrigues me. I can upgrade by collection whenever there are content changes. As a writer, I am particularly interested in the concept of "progress payments" for material. This book cannot be described as anything near complete. Yet the author is receiving payments. He promises to update this book. I hope so. He and Amazon have my 2 bucks. They will reap many more with a full compliment of content. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-04 01:10:46 EST)

The price is certainly right. I learned a lot that I couldn't learn from the Kindle guide. I'd recommend it.

This article was completely unneccesary. There is nothing in the tiny amount of information about the device that you cannot find in the user guide on the home screen. Perhaps if you know nothing about using the Internet for email this would be mildly useful but otherwise it is pretty useless. I do not recommend this for the previously known content and the waste of $2.50.

My son gave me a kindle for my 70th birthday and immediately fell in love. Your book (to be) has, in easy reading, all the tricks I need to get full enjoyment from my Kindle. Burt

Well, let's just say it isn't exactly what I expected. But it isn't as bad as some made it sound. I am not the most experienced when it comes to all the new gadgets of the world, but I am an intelligent women who can usually figure things out. Having said that...sometimes you just don't want to or have the time to figure things out. Sometimes you just want to pick up a reference manual and go for it. Let's face it, we live in a world where no one has time for anything. So I liked this guide for that reason. My days are just too busy to sit and figure the ins and outs of a new gadget. Maybe some people have more time than I do. It was nice to read through this guide and get all the information quick and easy. That is the only reason I have given this 3 stars, for the simple fact I would have eventually figured it out. So yes, I would recommend this guide. Nicely written, information was clear and precise, and it simplified everything I wanted to know and simplified it very quickly.
