This book is amazing! It seriously changed my life. It made me understand most of my health symptoms and problems are related to my throid disease. I wish someone would have told me all this years ago! This is thee best book out there and is so easy to read. I read it in two days because I just couldn't put it down. I am now armed with great questions for my new Endocrinologist!

Admittedly this is a very thorough book, but as I am 66 years old, I would have liked to have know that this book is nearly exclusively meant for women in their childbearing years. This is not made clear as you may see from the title. This fixation became very irritating. Be careful before you buy it. Did you know that fluoride has been used to treat hypERthyroidism? Makes it seem more important for people with Hypothyroidism to cut out fluoride when we can.

Even as a male I found this book to be full of lots of research and practicaul information. The author is a zealot on this topic and clearly wants to help others in her boat. I recommend it for man or woman.

Over the years my three friends with thyroid issues have been helped tremendously by Ms. Shomon's books. It started as a way for me to help them and it's now become a ritual among us...I buy them each a copy when Ms. Shomon publishes a new book. When I ask my friends if the new Shomon books have given them more valuable information, they are always sharing the new info with me. In particular, one friend confided that her menstrual problems were really frightening her and this book relieved some of her anxiety. I am grateful that I am able to help these women by sharing someone else's expertise!

I have had thyroid disease for over 30 years, diagnosed in childhood, and thought of myself as an old pro. That is, until I began reading the work of Mary Shomon. She has researched thyroid disease and its management THOROUGHLY and is an incredible patient advocate. When my endocrinologist starting using the lower TSH ranges, I had already read about it on Ms. Shomon's website. Now she is addressing the sexual side effects of thyroid dysfunction that the medical establishment has brushed off for years.

To put it simply, Mary Shomon has taught me more about my thyroid through her books than my own doctor has. Every single one of her books, as well as her free newsletters which are available through her Web site, [...], casts a welcome beacon of light on the many mysteries of the thyroid, whose functions and maladies elude even some of the country's top physicians. Through her books I have learned to live again, and have come to realize that my thyroid disorder is not the life sentence of gloom I was led to believe it was in a pre-Shomon world without answers.

The Thyroid Hormone Breakthrough is another great book from Mary Shomon. In a world where information is cheap, this book is gold. A doctor doesn't always provide the fullest information and they may not have time to answer the questions you thought of after you left. This book will answer those questions and more. The book is easy to read, packed with information and is exactly what we all look for when we need help - the thoroughly informed best friend who has been there.
This book provides good basic background on the thyroid and moves quickly on to good information about diagnosing thyroid conditions along with options and an extensive symptoms checklist. There is great information on a wide variety of hormonal issues, fertility and pregnancy problems and menopause as well as tons of resources such as websites, professional oranizations, books and newsletters dealing with all these issues. The book is also useful for anyone whose partner/wife has thyroid disease as it helps you understand what they're going through. A tremendous amount of great information.

As scary as it is to admit in a public place such as an Amazon book review, this book is a lifesaver because apparently Mary has been tracking my life and decided to write just for me. I'm 41, so I'm staring down peri-menopause, and I have had all the sex drive issues related to someone with Thyroid disease. I cannot tell you how fantastic it is to have such a well-written, thoughtful book with useful information available. I feel badly for all the women before me who needed a book like this and didn't have one. This book should be required reading for doctors everywhere. I will certainly be loaning my copy to my physician.
