| The Cure: Heal Your Body, Save Your Life | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
According to Dr. Timothy Brantley, most health problems are not caused by genetics or germs but by the standard American diet. Drawing on Brantley's groundbreaking research and his years of working with nutritional healing, The Cure contains a revolutionary step-by-step program that can flush toxins out of the body, restore balance, promote natural healing, and increase vitality.

After seeing this book on TV, I searched for it online. It has some great things in it.

I saw him on the Rachel Ray show and so I bought the book. It did have some good info. in the book but, in my opinion it it just unreasonable to follow "the program" for anyone who has a family or a life in general.

Reading this book changed my life. I wondered why I hadn't read it sooner. It is very well written and I think that everyone in America should read it. Even if you don't change your diet, at least, everything you put in your mouth, you are doing so, informed. I changed my diet about half way through and went totally raw. Which is not recommended, and I may have had an easier time of it had I done as suggested. But, my vision has improved, I have much more energy, I don't get sick. I feel more connected with nature and actually, this is what my body has been waiting for, for 32 years.

After seeing Dr. Brantley appear on Oprah and Montel Williams, I was intrigued to get his book and understand more of his philosophy. I wasn't able to write fast enough and digest it while he was on the talk shows ! This is a very easy to read informative guide for healthy life changes. He tells you exactly what foods to eat and why and also how to obtain them. That's why it would be like attending a conference with Dr. Brantley, except missing the questions and answers.I didn't want to put it down and plan to be in his audience one day .

Easy to read and follow (read in 3 days) I found this book accidentally (library search - health, detox, etc) & ended up buying it right away. I was sick of feeling sick and tired all the time. Much of what he writes about a friend and former colleague of mine (pharmacist, naturalist, and nutritionist - I know what a combo, couldn't decide what she wanted to be when she grew up) taught me many of the things (sprouted nuts, processed foods & the effects, etc) I have been sharing with friends. It is not easy to break old habits that have been engrained since birth so I am not saying it will be easy but if you are committed to be healthy and feeling better, stick to it, take it slow so you make it a part of your daily routines you will see a difference. I saw the other reviews that talk about him promoting his products. Oh course he will tell you about his products, they are a part of the program. But he also tells you in the text that you can get similar herbal products from natural foods stores. I went on his web site (there's all kinds of free info, health evaluations, suggestions, recipes, etc) I emailed a question about a product I recently saw and the very same day someone called me back!!! This has never happened before. They genuinely seem to care and did not push any products or try to sell me anything.

I first saw Dr. Brantley on the Montel Williams show. I bought his book and couldn't put it down. The most informative book ever. "You are the cause", "You are the cure". You can cure yourself by following Dr. Brantley's advise. You don't need drugs or pills, just the right food.
Thank you Dr. Brantley for my new lease on life. Kathie Makris (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-03 00:12:57 EST)

Save your money. This guy's only claim to fame is working with celebrities. They must be the only ones foolish enough to listen to him. I am surprised that he can get through doorways with his head being as big as it is. He names doctors, but doesn't give a reference to them. He claims he has cured cancer, but has been hassled by lawyers. Hmmm...Lawyers cannot stop word of mouth, if he has actually cured cancer. He talks about drinking 4-6 ox of oil for your kidney/gallbladder and says to drink it quickly. He says if you get sick, you have problems. I say that if you drink that much oil quickly, if you don't get sick you have problems. Save your money.

This book was a great opener, however it left me hanging once I finished the book. I was excited to get started, but the book refers to a web site that they are working on, and I don't know where to start now that I've finished reading the book. I would recommend this book in 6 months when the web site is functional.

On TV, Dr. Brantley shows different foods to combat various problems. I thought that is what I would get with this book. Instead, it lays out a plan of living on raw veggies, fish, etc. or juicing everything. Then you need to consume the herbal formulas he has for sale. I am left feeling it is a sales tool for him instead of an informational book for me.

If you are interested in living a more natural and healthy life, are serious about changing, and want to possibly cure what ails you - this is a good read. He explains his theories in detail, but does not recommend specific products. A lot of helpful information about healthy eating, cleanses, water, etc.

The stories of the author assisting clients to heal themselves was interesting but that was not the reason why I bought the book. I wanted to hear about the so called 'cure'. So I learned from the author to eat raw whole foods. Mind you, he hardly gave any recipes. Only recipes were nut milks and suggestions for breakfast shakes, lunch, and dinner. What the author repetitively emphasized was the discusting state the reader's bowels must be in. He describes his herbal formula that took him 20 years of tweaking for optimal results in cleansing your colon. Oh yeah, his liver/gallbladder cleanse, and kidney/bladder cleanse he states will soften those organs. These organs need to be cleansed because they are stiff and overworked. What's up with the constant cleansing? I thought the author said that the body can heal itself through optimal nutrition and diet. Whatever! I have already read Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by Gabriel Cousens and The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain and Brantley ain't sayin' NOTHING!

This book is hard to put down. I read it in less than 3 days like a wonderful mystery novel. Dr. B has a great way of writing that makes you feel like you are in a personal conversation with him. And, what he says makes sense. It is not a "diet" book but one to cure what ails you. However, if you need to lose weight you probably will just because what you are eating is what your body needs to not only feel better but level off at the right weight for you! It is also easy to follow. I have been doing as he said for one month now and already feel much better. Buy this book - you won't be sorry!

I highly recommend this book to everyone interested in understanding how they can be more healthy. One doesn't have to choose to do EVERYTHING Dr. Brantley suggests, even doing some of what you learn has to have a great benefit to our bodies. He writes this in such an easy way to read, it's entertaining, spiritual and humorous. I have learned so many things about my body and what I put into it that I NEVER knew and I am already feeling the benefits of the choices I am making daily from this new knowledge. What you read is logical and makes perfect sense, if you're open minded and really WANT to be healthier - read this book!

If you are in a tough medical situation try this book I have spent to much time with modern insurance trained MDs and that is hard to say considering my wife is a doctor. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-06 07:16:30 EST)

Maybe there are folks out there that can put this info to use..basicly he's advocating a RAW diet. Sound familiar?? Cooked foods are bad and release all kinds of toxins. Bull!! There's nothing new in this book.

This book is focused on eating a raw food diet & doing herbal cleanses, which is not what I was expecting to read. Pretty good book for folks that have it in them to do that sort of thing, but I'm not one of them.

Luckily, I'm a believer in most of what is taught in this book, because if I wasn't, this shockingly unscientific book would not convince me. Dr. Brantley's practice apparently started in his teens before he knew much of anything, and he never mentions when he got his medical degrees. The only thing he ever sites as basis for what he espouses are the books he read along the way. One has the impression that Dr. Brantley believes that if something got published, it must be true. The most scientific thing he does is recruit some healthy people to try out his theories, measuring and testing before they try his methods, and then after. There is no control group, no placebo group, etc. And his methods of measuring their health are questionable at best. Ph testing, and kinesiology machines--both of which aren't even recognized and respected by many naturepaths, let alone traditional medicine. What's worse is that there isn't really anything new in this book, other than the fact that it's presented in a uniquely unconvincing manner. As far as his dietary suggestions, I think he gives good advice, even if his reasoning is poor, but save your money and buy Dr. Gabriel Cousens Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine. He espouses much of the save principles, and backs them with much stronger science.

Please buy this book if you're sick of being sick! Dr Brantley is a brilliant naturopthic doctor with a well-documented track record for healing even patients with "incurable" diseases. He has two degrees from prestigious naturopathic universities. I once heard him speak in person and his information is outstanding. Recently he appeared on my favorite show, RACHEL RAY, and they recommended this book.
Anyone who questions why he questions the radical mis-treatment of the medical community may not be aware that the AMA itself reports that doctors are the #2 cause of death in America. And that doesn't count people who die from taking medicine. Nearly 100,000 people each year die from medical mistakes in hospitals alone (reference: WALL OF SILENCE by Rosemary Gibson). Billions of dollars have been given to charities like the American Cancer Society and cancer now nails 1 in 2.5 people - more every year, not less. Are we nuts to think medicine makes us healthy? If Dr. B's health program seems "extreme," it just shows how twisted our logic has become. Amputations, radiation, medicines that list hundreds of dangers on the lable seem "normal." 30% of Americans are obese and that now seems "normal." One in two people get heart disease. Normal? Fruits, vegetables, herbs and good water are "extreme?" Think about that. Dr. B. shows us how to cleanse our bodies simply just by taking herbal formulas that work well and have zero negative side effects. He provides information on his own herbal formulas but also encourages readers to find whatever comparable formulas may work best for them. He has a simple plan to re-hydrate us since our bodies are mostly water and our water is no longer "structured." This is not just drinking more water - it's using specific waters at special times and cutting out the liquids that de-hydrate us. Best of all, he tells us exactly how to prepare the best meals I've ever made in my life. Fast, cheap, simple, delicious and totally filling! I've been followig his program and bought his products online and, boy, have I seen results in just 3 weeks! Migraines are gone, my skin looks great, I have more energy than I can remember and every day I look forward to waking up and eating the great recipes he gives like nut milk shakes, Corny Salmon and incredible salads. If you think this diet is hard, try being overweight, exhausted, sick or in chemotherapy! Now that's hard. "The Cure" is for people who don't want to be lied to about "eat anything you want, take drugs and you'll get thin and healthy." Dr. Brantley tells us the truth. It's about time someone did. Given the obesity epidemic, and the fact that cancer is on the rise, do yourself a service and get this book. It explains why all of this is happening, and how you can protect yourself from both pervasive evils. There is a science behind the cause and cure of cancer, and Dr. Brantley lays it all out. I could not recommend this book more, lest I succumb to redundancy.

I totally agree with everything Timothy Brantley says in his book. Our American diet is terrible. I've been attempting to change my family's diet for a long time and although I haven't gone completely raw, I certainly include many more raw foods in our shopping list and diet. It's hard to change when other members of your family are a little less willing to take the plunge. We all have to eat, and the grocery funds only go so far. That said, I am totally convinced and working toward the goal of a healthy diet.
I would like to comment on some other reviews that call Brantley's book a "sales pitch". He states many times throughout the book that he has spent much time and painstaking effort to come up with formulas that work. Obviously he is going to recommend his products because he can be sure of their results. His book is believable and inspiring. I hope he can sell millions and get this message out to everyone. We certainly need it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-06 07:16:31 EST)

I wish I could write a review. I ordered two copies of this book, and got billed for three and never received my proper order. After much runaround, I guess I'll go to Borders and buy the book. It's been over a month. The hassle I've been through is not worth any amount of small savings there is.

I read this book in just a few short sittings and was so taken with the stories and the journey of Dr Brantley's life. The information in the book was so helpful and provides you with such a great stepping stone for eating heathier and feeling better. My husband and I started to change our eating habits immediately. We started slowly by changing one meal at a time. Right now we generally eat both breakfast and lunch raw, dinner is still a challenge but we are reviewing cookbooks to help with that. In the few weeks since we started this change, we both lost almost 10 lbs., and my body is functioning much more regular. I have always had stomach and intestinal problems but just by making some very easy changes, I haven't had any pains at all. Also every time one of my kids got sick, I always got sick, not anymore! I know there are some people who gave this a poor rating but I feel that they don't have enough of an open mind to make any changes. The only reason he plugs his products so much is because they work! I have been taking them for a few weeks now and I swear by them. If you have an open mind and even come away with one good tip to help keep you healthy then this book is worth it! I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who is willing to make a change towards their health!

I believe this to be great info, but the diet is rather difficult to follow. What I mean by this is that the items recommended are not easily available. I just found a market where I can order young Thai coconuts, sight unseen and by the case only. I'll try and follow up on this at a later date. Regards.

I am only about half way through the book, but so far I find it fascinating. I find Dr. Brantley to be refreshingly honest when looking at the American diet and pharmaceutical industry. I have two children with autism/special needs and suffered from severe allergies most of my life. I have seen myself how making even some of these changes can dramatically improve health. By keeping the diets of my children very clean, their "symptoms" are more under control and they do not suffer as many sensitivities. Likewise, I do not get sick year round as I used to with respiratory infections and bronchitis. However, the more I stray from a healthy and natural diet, I can feel my immunity lower. Modern medicine doesn't seek to cure us. It only seeks to give us a quick fix to hide our symptoms. We need to figure out why so many of our children have disorders, not find yet another pill for them to take. I applaud Dr. Brantley's efforts to find cures rather than quick fixes.

This guy is not really a doctor. His website says he got a PhD (not an MD) from Pacific Western University, which is a non-accredited distance learning institution (ie, a diploma mill). Would you want your "doctor" to have received his title from such an institution? Would you want to pay the same price for a book as he paid for his PhD diploma?
If one is going to sell snake oil, that is fine, but don't fool people by selling it under the guise of "Dr." (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-06 07:16:32 EST)

This is somewhat of a difficult book to review... The Cure: Heal Your Body, Save Your Life by Dr. Timothy Brantley. On one hand, I think the basic gist of what he's talking about is correct. On the other hand, his program is truly extreme and almost ends up being an infomercial for his website and products.
Contents: Part 1 - The Search for Balance: Balance and Imbalance; My Quest for Truth; Indecent Exposure; Curing the Incurables; Kathy's Story; Creation, the Real Healer; The Tin Man; Sonya's Story; Water, the River of Life; My Study Part 2 - The Brantley Road Map to Balance; A Little Inspiration; What to Drink and When; What to Eat and When; Taking Out the Garbage; Sun, Spirit, Exercise, Rest, Relaxation, Fun, and Forgiveness; The Obesity Cure; The Antiaging Cure A Final Word: Health Is Your Divine Birthright; Author's Products; Bibliography; Index Brantley is someone who struggled with a number of health issues for much of his life, as well as watching his mother and father die of various illnesses. He questioned doctors as to *why* people got these diseases, instead of just accepting cures that would not correct the underlying problem. By using his own body as his lab, he came up with a number of dietary guidelines and practices that he feels restores the body to its natural state of health. The first part of the book (the larger part) is his story of research, as well as how he worked with and cured a number of "incurable" people who had diseases that were considered terminal. The last part of the book goes into some level of detail on the program and what a person should and should not be eating and doing to themselves. On one hand, he's correct that the typical American diet is atrocious. The heavy reliance on processed food and chemical-laden products has a direct effect on our health and well-being. He advocates for a diet consisting of food that is as raw as possible ("as Creation intended"). Veggies, fruits, nuts, meat, you name it... raw or lightly seared. For fluids, it's pretty much water. I don't doubt that eating the way he wants would do wonders for your body. But I tend to get a bit leery of all his "cleansing" routines. He's come up with a number of detox formulas which are designed to eliminate all the toxins from your various organs. Couple that with colonics, and you're doing some pretty strange things to yourself. He is *very* turned off on modern medicine and pharmaceuticals, pretty much accusing them of doing nothing more than chasing the almighty dollar and making people sicker. His role models are practitioners who have come up with some rather strange theories that don't have a lot of science to back them up. And when you get to the second part of the book, there are numerous references to his website. When you go there for more information, you end up finding ways to purchase his formulas instead of how you can do it yourself. Therefore, it's hard not to come away from the book wondering if it was really a large sales push... Yeah, I'm a cynic... :) If you were willing to completely change the way you live and eat to follow this program, I don't doubt that you'd see real changes. And I also believe that there have been some "miracle cures" by people who have done this. But if the typical person can't follow a simple diet program, I doubt that they're going to be able to commit the time and effort needed to do something like this. Only the truly desperate would be willing to make these types of radical changes. Of course, if we were closer to his program in the first place, they wouldn't *be* so radical now, would they? The personal stories are interesting. Overall, the book is not what I thought it would be. It does not give enough details on how a person can incorporate into their own lives the ideals the author is proporting. I believe the author is sincere in his beliefs, but this method of weight lose could only be followed by the desparate. A person who is very ill or feeling very poorly would probably try to follow this diet. But, the person who is only overweight but feels well would not be convinced to go to such extremes.

Great book. I found out about it while watching the Rachel Ray show. I found it very interesting. Finished reading it in one day. A lot of good information. However, I don't think I can go straight organic as he recommends. Fortunately, I am in good health and I will take into consideration much of what Mr. Brantley recommends. But you know, if I did have a disease that the medical profession said there was no cure; I'd jump on the band wagon and follow his book to the exact word. What I liked about the book was his testimonials and his references to various web sites. This book was a good price from Amazon and I received it before it hit the book stands. It is a keeper for my health and fitness library.

This book has inspired me to make some significant changes. Brantley's detailed explanations of the way food affects a person't body are easy to follow and helpful for understanding why we should follow his advice. The writing is a bit dull and quite repetitive, which became frustrating. I agree with the poster who commented on his sales efforts and intentional vagueness. In my mind, his plugs for his products and website take credibility away from the science he is sharing.

Dr. Brantley is the real deal. He literally saved my life when I was diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to him, my husband and I now have a 3 year old daughter and I have been healthy and cancer-free for over a decade. I have been waiting for him to publish a book so I could properly process his wellspring of knowledge. This is a must-read for anyone serious about their health.

I got this book as a gift and I could not put it down. You could just tell how Dr. Brantley became so dedicated to helping people. The stories helping the cancer patients really hit home with me. Both my Father and Uncle died because of cancer and I want to make sure that does not happen to me. He outlines some really good ways to start getting healthy, I am starting now so I can get healthier. I have lots of motivation The Cure just gave me some direction. Hope you like it as much as I did.
