| Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
There seems to be no one more qualified or equipped to ponder or even, dare I say, dictate 'quality, taste, and style' than Tim." -Sarah Jessica Parker, actor/producer
Television has introduced the world to a new fashion authority: Tim Gunn. As Bravo's style mentor and Chair of the Fashion Design Department at Parsons The New School for Design, Tim delivers advice in a frank, witty, and authoritative manner that delights audiences. Now readers can benefit from Tim's considerable fashion wisdom in Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style. He discusses every aspect of creating and maintaining your personal style: how to dress for various occasions, how to shop (from designer to chain to vintage stores), how to pick a fashion mentor, how to improve your posture, find the perfect fit, and more. He'll challenge every reader-whether a seasoned fashionista or a style neophyte-to "make it work!" |

The book just left me flat. No great suggestions, nothing new. It was a quick and easy read however a bit boring. I enjoy Tim Gunn so much in other forums that I probably would by the next book in hopes it was better.

I love Tim Gunn. I can not believe that it has taken me this long to pick up this book.
What I like about Tim is that he doesn't tell you style to have but he does give guidelines for good taste. There's info on how to spot quality garments and how to take care of them. His list of Things Every Woman Must Have (which is not how he calls it but I don't have the book handy for reference) is great. If you've ever seen his TV show (Tim Gunn's Guide to Style) then you'll know the gist of this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-26 10:54:11 EST)

I was lucky enought to attend a party hosted by Tim Gunn and Nathaniel Hawkins at the Tribeca Grand on March 5th. My sister won this by responding to a TRESemme on-line ad. Oh my goodness, what a night and what true hosts Tim and Nathaniel were. Not only were we treated liked guests, more important we felt "like royalty". Hats off to these people who hosted a party that made "all" feel welcome. Here is to all those who made my and my sister's journey to New York and to SOHO and to PROJECT RUNWAY so special. I love my pictures and I look at my scrapbook with wonderful memories. Tim is all he appears and more...

This book could've been written by your high-class but out-of-touch grandmother living in a penthouse in New York. The sections on self-presentation were moderately helpful but vague (sit up straight! good skin is good!), but when it came to actual fashion tips, there were none. Kendall Farr's The Pocket Stylist, while somewhat flawed, is far more informative.

I love Tim Gunn and think he is style personified. I purchased this book thinking that it would include his philosophy and advice for developing such style; however, for the most part the book is directed toward only true fashionistas. I don't know half of the people he refers to and the other half that I do recognize really have very little to do with my sense of style development. Mr. Gunn's book is witty and well written but simply not what I was hoping it would be. Again, if you are merely a casual observer of fashion, this book is NOT for you.

I think everyone should buy this book. It is a wonderful how to book without talking down or making you feel like a total fatso! I love Tim Gunn's wit and wisdom. What you see on Project Runway and his own TV show - is exactly what you get in the book. I read it in a week and I have 2 kids under 3! I would love to have seen Tim's SAT scores! You do have to read the book with a dictionary close by.

If you love Tim Gunn, and his make it work attitude from Project Runway, you'll like this book. After reading it, my first reaction was, huh, not much substance.....then I began to think about what he had written....which is basically, make it work. Stop buying junk you don't need & won't wear just because it's trendy or on sale.... pull out what you have that you love, add to it with more classic items that you love and Make it work!!

I loved this book and it really is like having Tim Gunn giving you advice. If you watch his shows then you know that voice and after reading this book, I trust his style. I read Stacey and Clintons book too and while it was good, Tim's book covered things they did not. It's not full of pictures trying to fit just the right body type but it talks about sizing and fit and how to go through your closet and weed out the good and the bad. I read it through the first time and then started on my closet and have been reading it again as I go along baging clothes that don't fit (and for me that was most of what's in my closet as I lost 30 pounds and had not bought any for years)and am continuing to read as I buy things that fit and work well for me, paying more attention to fit than size. The best wardorobe advice book I've read.

Timm Gunn's book is pure pleasure and reads exactly as Timm Gunn speaks. I had a smile on my face for the entire literary journey and was sad when it came to an end. This book is truly such a delight that I'd recommend it enthusiatically even if the substance of it was hooey. However, hooey it is not, and I have made strides in cleaning up my act by heeding this charming and knowlegable man's wisdom. Write another book, Tim, on any topic at all.

I love this book! First, because it's written by Tim Gunn. He has such a way with words. He's charming, witty and knows fashion. I would say, however, this book will likely not appeal to those 'learning' about fashion & attempting to discover they're own sense of fashion know-how, or to those who feel in need of a fashion makeover. I could be wrong...but it would seem someone who doesn't already understand the 'basics' of fashion, might think Tim is a tad wordy. I've long been into the do's & don't's of fashion (even been an 'unknowing' fashion victim in my lifetime (as have all of us at one time or another). But, Tim can always find something new with which to enlighten me even further. Thinning out my closet, for one. He makes such great sense...and in this hurried world where I once thought I needed everything to feel good, he made me understand why I've felt so BAD looking into a sinfully huge closet full of clothes, in a perpetual state of 'whining' about having NOTHING to wear! Less is more...he stresses this. And, as usual, he couldn't be more right! If you love Tim Gunn...heard him speak, seen him on television, etc., he leaves you wanting more. He simply oozes taste & style...while managing to never make others who don't share all his likes & dislikes, feel they are lesser than he. He's got too much class for this. This was a "winner" read for me. Two thumbs up, Tim!

Tim Gunn is a joy! This read is funny, informative, and strangely realistic. the reader allows us to let him in our private concerns for our "image" and his suggestions feel like words from a good friend. I intend to re-read this book, and keep it on hand over the years for a re-newed inspiration. Excellent for any age. I actually wish I could write to him and let him know how gratefull I am. I started watching Tim Gunn's Guide to Style on Bravo a while ago and loved the show so much, I decided to buy his book. I think it's one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Some of the other reviews say this book is a waste of time, that it's all such obvious advice. That may be true for some people. But for me it was not. I felt I was stuck in a fashion rut. I'm 22 years old, almost 23, about to be married to a graphic designer, and I feel like I look like I just walked off my high school campus. I'm a jeans and tank top kind of girl. As wonderfully comfortable as those clothes are, that's just what they are: "comfort clothes", items I wear because I'm afraid to step out of the box. When I get married I want to be able to be the stylish wife on the arm of my husband, not someone that looks like a teenager. I want to be taken seriously. Well, Tim's book was an easy to digest read. He has a lot of great advice that even made me feel better about myself. Like his views on being a certain size. He says, buy the dress that fits well and makes you look great, don't beat yourself up about the fact that it's a 10 and you're "supposed to be a 5!" He says, go home and cut the tag out if you must, but you're going to look so much better in something that actually fits, than something you try to squeeze into simply because you don't want to admit to yourself that you have to wear a 10. And he has some good information on department store sizing that makes a lot of sense. The book flows a lot like the style of his show. He teaches you how to cull the clothes in your closet, explains how things should be fitting your body while offering tips for ladies who want to minimize their large bust, or downplay their tummy, etc., offers some style inspiration from some famous ladies, and then preps you for shopping by explaining the 10 most important and basic items you should have in a wardrobe, he goes on to explain the different places for shopping (the mall, the outlet, boutiques, etc.) and what each store does best, he ends with fashion ideas for special occasions (weddings, funerals, cocktail parties, etc.) and in the back their is a glossary of fashion/fabric terms, so if you don't know what blouson means, it explains it there. Bottom Line: I found the book extremely helpful. It was like having a good friend counsel me and hold my hand the whole way. If you fancy yourself stylish and in need of no fashion help, then this book is not for you. But if you're like me and interested in trying to update your look by learning how to form a basic wardrobe and what works and doesn't, then I would highly recommend the book. Unless you know some of the designers, one won't be able to understand whom he is speaking of in this book. Really can not recommend this book even though I thought it would be a updated version of A Guide to Elegance: For Every Woman Who Wants to Be Well and Properly Dressed on All Occasions. Even though the book is a bit dated, it is VERY helpful in getting one properly dressed from A-Z. Tim Gunn is very stylish, hands down. I would find it more helpful to hear from some of the women that went through this *guide to style* currently. Not just a few days or weeks after. How about a year or two after the fact. Now to be fair, there is a dictionary in the back or the book for some of the things he mentions but not all and my mind is left spinning of what is he talking about? ...sorry, I am just a common ignorant girl. I have to be careful in my station. (my fair lady) Advice...check this out of the library before purchasing... will be donating my copy. But if you like high style and know all of the names... bully for you! ...as Tim says. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-28 21:12:09 EST)

Style has to do with how you present yourself to the world and shows your personality. You don't have to be super good looking to present yourself well to others, and style is something you can make all your own (it doesn't have to mean keeping up with whatever the latest fad is). This book has great style tips that are very helpful! I also highly recommend another bestseller - How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You Both books will inspire you!

This is a thoroughly entertaining and useful book. It's not "fluff" but really instructive and funny as well. His method of cleaning out your closet is one of the best - I did it and got rid of half my stuff - then went shopping with his advice in hand! All my girlfriends have borrowed it and say the same.

This book has many helpful hints to create and maintain the look you want. He helps with using what you already have as well as weeding out your closet so you know what you have to work with that actually fits. He has great shopping tips and is a good book to read to get over a number size fixation--it's just a number, go for the fit, don't have a fit over the number!

I don't really know anything about fashion but I started watching Tim on that Bravo show and enjoyed it for some odd reason. So I bought the book for my wife but ended up reading it first. I was mostly impressed by the wit and charm of the writing and I did end up learning a little bit about womens fashion. As I enjoy learning for its own sake the book was lots of fun for me. I would recommend it as a fun read.

Let me start out by saying that I love Tim Gunn. I believe that he is helping transform individual style across America, while dispelling fashion myths perpetrated by other makeover shows. And while everyone can't be on his show to get personal advice, reading this book is certainly the next best thing.
This book covers everything from sorting through your closet and developing your personal style, to packing and travel, to healthy skin and beauty regimens. Tim Gunn understands that fit is crucial and stresses the importance of properly fitting undergarments, but most importantly suggests styles of clothing that best suit specific body types. These pages contain the infamous list of 10 items essential to every wardrobe and places to shop to get the most style for your money. The appendices contain a helpful glossary of fashion terms and films of style to aid in additional fashion inspiration. Tim Gunn has managed to capture his endearing personality in this style narrative, which helps the reader discover her true fashion potential. The book is an enjoyable quick read, that will serve as a handy reference for years to come. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-22 13:43:09 EST)

I confess, sometimes I like those makeover/reality shows that come a-creepin' across my television screen. Sometimes, when it is the show that progresses by attrition, I get a smug look when some lout who truly deserves it gets booted off. But where I really enjoy it is when I can learn something. And when I heard that the advisor to the contestants on Project Runway was coming out with his own book on fashion, I was certainly interested.
Tim Gunn works with Kate Moloney to produce this slender little book of fashion tips, designed pretty much for women, especially those that have overflowing closets and nothing to wear. It gets worse when you realize that not only don't you have anything that looks good, but you're not even inspired to do anything about it, and keep on wearing clothing that makes us look dumpy, flat, and wide. And most of all, where do we even begin to figure out what is going to work, and what isn't? Each chapter has a little note at the start, explaining what The Lesson is going to be, then the text, often with various line drawings inserted to either instructor or to amuse, and a note at the end titled The Blind Spot that mentions where things can go a bit haywire. The information is pretty much what can be found in most books on clothing and fashion, working from getting to know yourself, tackling your overstuffed closet and culling it down to the necessities, figuring out a fashion style that will work for you, getting inspiration from famous fashionistas from the past, how to minimize problems with your figure, the importance of self care, an entire chapter on accesories, and especially the handbag, and how to shop using your brain and eyes instead of just emotion and advertising. What I found most useful was the chapter of various items that every woman really needs to have in her wardrobe, and how to keep things to a minimum without losing your mind. The final chapter goes into special occansions and how to cope with them. One really fun touch comes at the end, with a list of movies on style and fashion that mostly focus on what we think of as classic and timeless. I wasn't surprised at all to see several of my favorite films on that list. There's also a brief snippet on the use of perfume and scent without going crazy with it. Finally, a glossary about all sorts of topics dealing with clothing, cloth, trims and terms that will help to sort things out a bit. Throughout the book, I found myself chuckling over Mr. Gunn's observations about modern life, and the role of style that affects everyone. He's canny, but not cruel, in pointing out that everyone makes mistakes, and gently suggests what might work instead. Co-author Kate Moloney is a bit harder to detect here, and I suspect that she was ghosting and editing in spots. It's a minor quibble -- what really matters in this book is what Tim Gunn is saying, and it's very sensible, logical advice as well. Summing up, I found this to be an interesting book to read, but not exactly the sort of book that I could actually use. While I am not at all in question of Mr. Gunn's taste and style -- he is immaculate and very well turned out -- there are some mighty big holes for the reader to fall into. It's not the perfect book on fashion, but it is certainly a keeper of a book, and one that I plan to go back to now and then to give myself a good kick in the fanny and to stay focused on the essentials. By all means, be certain to take a look at Tim Gunn's Guide to Style on BravoTV, where he puts much of what this book is about into actual practice. About three and a half stars, rounded up to four, as I can't give half-star rates. Drat. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-03 01:13:07 EST)

I ordered this book with the expectation that I would learn more about the ten key pieces that Tim talks about on his new TV show. What I really wanted were the kinds of details that would, for example, enable me to understand why he consistently puts women over a certain age/size in tops that reveal those upper arms that are only attractive if they belong to a woman of twenty-something, in sleeves that often hit the arm at the widest wiggliest point. This seems to contradict everything he says about picking the optimal skirt length for ones body. Surely he has a reason for this apparent madness. I haven't been seen in public in a sleeve that did not conceal my entire arm in more years than I can count. But I digress. Tim's warmth and humor shine through the pages of the book. My problem with his philosophical musings on various icons of fashion is that with a few obvious exceptions, I did not have a clue who he was talking about or what they might have worn. Why then did I give the book 4 stars? Because his section on posture is more than worth the investment of my time and money in the book. Among other things, I learned that my pelvis has been in the wrong position for all of my 62 years. And that "shoulders back" does not mean what I thought it did. I have corrected my posture and the impact has been almost beyond belief. My next project is to rid my closet of everything that does not make me feel fabulous. I will continue to watch him on TV in the hope that I will pick up tidbits here and there that I can use to make my own wardrobe "work" better. If you are a fan of Tim Gunn, you will probably enjoy this book.

Amazon recommended Tim Gunn's book to me, and I decided to check it since there were some very positive reviews about its content. Nevertheless, I really did not find it that helpful.
First of all, when I pick up a style book, I do expect there to be some discussion of selecting clothes for your body. Even if the book is helping you to cultivate your personal sense of style, it should be honest about what kinds of clothes are just not going to be flattering on you. Gunn dealt with the body problems in two pages, and one gets the impression that his body "flaws" were more for models, instead of the everyday woman. A woman with a very curvy hourglass figure, for example, would need to dress in head-to-toe dark colors, according to his advice. Secondly, the chapter on fashion icons had a great deal of potential, but it fell flat. This section would have greatly benefited from pictures. The icon descriptions were woefully underdone, so that I had to read the chapter three times to make any sense of them. However, on the positive side, Gunn does offer some excellent suggestions for shopping, closet purging, and fit, which are well-worth a glance through. The tone is rather elitist, but in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. Overall, I would recommend checking it out from the library, skipping the sections on style mentors, and heading straight for his information on fit, your closet, and shopping. At first I found this an odd little book. It felt more like an idea that Bravo had--to help kick off a new Project Runway season and Gunn's new show as well--rather than the author's idea. Quite a variety of topics, and it feels a bit random in spots. But the language is certainly reflective of the author, and it's ultimately a lovable book. I'm a fan of Tim Gunn--love his detached irony and wit--and that he's found his niche while shaking his head at the wonder of it all. Good for him. With a book like this, I feel that if I can take away 3 or 4 good tips, I'm happy. For me, those included the posture one (keeping your shoulders far away from your ears, or something like that--it definitely works) and the repair pile rule (you now have 5 days to get it to the tailor or dry cleaner--or maybe you don't care about it that much). How true.
Gunn was not so well served by his publisher. The layout and illustrations aren't wonderful, and the editing, well, we have "discreet" in place of "discrete," "illicit" in place of "elicit," "suitablity" [sic], and Collier rather than Collyer (anyone editing in New York should be able to spell Collyer brothers). If you're going to include a glossary, be sure you spell the words correctly (e.g. dupioni and passementerie). That's already a lot of errors in such a short book. But my over-50-year-old heart was warmed by all the fondness for women of a certain age. I wish he didn't hate flip-flops so much, but I'll continue to wear them--nothing else shows off a pedicure quite as well. And I'll try not to waddle. I have the highest respect for Tim Gunn from his appearances on Project Runway. Based on his insights in the show, I was expecting a more unisex approach to style, at least based on his first couple of chapters where he relates his personal style odyssey, which are excellent for men who are interested in personal style and how to enhance your personal look.
Unfortunately for male readers, the book becomes very focused on female fashion rather quickly. I would have liked for the book to have more perspective & advice for male readers in developing their personal style. The advice for women's style seemed rather well thought out and helpful. Probably 4-5 stars as a review of this book for women. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-08-09 22:54:06 EST)

I was excited when I saw this book. It seemed to address fashion issues which interest me. When I read it I could not believe how shallow and useless it was. It has a very affected, fashion snob tone to it. It offers no useful graphics which might help the reader understand the author's point. It has several "fashion types" which make no sense (the description of the Italian type basically says "big hair and big eyes") and they seem to bleed over into each other. Overall I'm glad I didn't spend money on this book, I would have been very unhappy.

I must admit, that as student entering Parsons for the upcoming fall semester, I was eager to read what the notable Tim Gunn had to say. Everyone loves him on Project Runway and his expertise is respected. I found that while the topics were very important, most of the information in here was repetitive to what I have already read before (i.e. What not to wear, the top ten items every woman should have in her closet and why buying "IT" bags are not the best investment.)
Maybe I just have too much knowledge on this topic that my view of the book is hindered. So if you are like me, and have subscriptions to fashion magazines and have already read books like The Pocket Stylist, you should probably think twice before purchasing this one. This was a lighthearted afternoon read.
I don't have much interest in fashion, but I did enjoy Tim's role on Project Runway, so I thought I'd pick this up. Some of Tim's advice was old hat, but he made some old fashioned advice feel fresh and inspiring. I had recently cleaned out my closet, but after reading his book, I did it again, giving away a lot of nice pieces that honestly never "worked" for me. Yes, it did feel good to have permission to give away some expensive pieces that I was never going to be able to wear well. The nice thing about Tim's philosophy is that it's about enjoying what you have, rather than making yourself feel guilty about not meeting any particular standard. If you're itching for some inspiration, this is a pleasant read. One last bit of praise. It's impeccably written, which immediately puts it head and shoulders over a lot of the pulp out there. Tim Gunn's wit had me in stitches. I am guilty of many fashion mistakes. I took a good look at my body type and cleaned out the clutter in the closet. Using more wisdom when shopping.

Any fan of Project Runway is already familiar with Tim Gunn's spot-on critiques and suggestions for contestants on the show. And how many of us would like to apply a little Tim Gunn to our own closets? I know I'm not the only one who's thought that it would be nice to have Tim Gunn there to help me pick out my clothes in the morning! Luckily for me (and you!), this book is the next best thing! It's chock full of great fashion advice from the master himself, and it's written in a witty, conversational tone that gives it the feeling of a letter from a dear friend. You can practically hear Tim's distinctive intonation in some of the more hilarious passages (and trust me--there are a LOT!).
This book is witty, informative, and fun. That being said, I can't believe that anyone would give this book a bad review. It's true that there are myriad other "classic" style books out there, but after a while they all sound the same: "Buy classic garments in neutrals so you can match in a pinch." "Have your clothes professionally tailored." "Buy quality, not quantity." BOOOORING. While there is a reason that this tried-and-true fashion advice has been around for so long, there's something about it that makes me (for one) want to run screaming in the opposite direction. Who wants to look like everybody else? And that's where this book comes in: it encourages you to find your personal style and how to, you know...make it work. It's the style book for those of us who don't want to be put into somebody else's idea of what "style" is. What's particularly refreshing about this book is that it doesn't try to make you into an Audrey Hepburn if you're more of a Sophia Loren. It works WITH you instead of trying to put you in a cookie-cutter mold. One final note: I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Gunn and Kate Moloney recently, and it is obvious that there are no two people better qualified to write a book about Quality, Taste, and Style! Both of them were well-dressed, gracious, and charming--which, I might add, are things you will learn by reading this fabulous book--and it is clear that they know what they epitomize what this whole book is about. You can definitely put your trust in these two to help you find your way to fashion nirvana! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-06-29 22:19:39 EST)

I was actually in the midst of changing my closet over to summer, and it gave me a few tips on getting rid of some stuff. The book is written in Gunn conversational, so it was a great, fun read with some helpful insights. No hard-core instruction, so buy it for fun, not education.

Since I have enjoyed watching Tim Gunn on Project Runway, I decided to pick up this book. I was initially surprised that there were no photos (how will I know what clothes to put together without photos!), but as it turns out you can learn something about style without looking at picures. The book is smart and often funny, albeit full of esoteric references. The only thing that bothered me was how much he picked on his mom in the book. Otherwise, I found the book to be enjoyable and, most importantly, useful. I have changed the way I shop and think about clothing thanks to this book.

I'm a big fan of Tim Gunn, and found this little guide to be as likeable as he is. His prose is light, conversational, and funny, and he offers sensible, general principles about dressing that I found informative and entertaining. I've recently purchased, and pored over, the British "What Not to Wear" books, as well as the Instyle's "Secrets of Style" and the "Lucky Shopping Manual," which are effective in helping to solve specific fashion problems. They are also overwhelming in their attempt to clarify a complex, subjective, topic. "A Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style" is distinct, not only because of the pleasing quality of the writing and its unabashedly personal viewpoint, but because it managed to inspire me to improve in a way the other books didn't. Gunn's taste is classic, conservative, and a bit predictable, but I found his advice to be reassuringly, and convincingly, simple.
This is not the most in-depth, all-purpose book of its type. But if you aspire to be not only well dressed, but truly charming, read this and follow a genuine example. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-05-08 21:57:32 EST)

What a disappointment! I love Tim Gunn on Project Runway and read the 5-star reviews waxing poetic about how wonderful this book was. I was left aghast with my jaw on the floor that this book is held in such high regard. Tim Gunn may know how to direct students when it comes to designing garments, but a writer he isn't. To say that Angelina Jolie is a style icon for her sloppy black t-shirts and jeans is hilarious. Do you really need someone to tell you how to throw out old clothes? If you haven't ever worn it, just toss it out...'nuff said.
This book is just common-sense written with horrible, pretentious vocabulary and nothing more. Save your money for a nice pair of sale-priced ballet flats, ladies. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-04-27 06:59:24 EST)

Don't open this book expecting "before" and "after" photos or expecting body shape descriptions. Instead, this book is like spending a few days in the very good company of Mr. Tim Gunn. Having met Tim on several occasions, I can tell you Project Runway fans that he is every bit as kind and generous with his time in person. An utterly delightful, humble man who seems honestly surprised at his new celebrity status. But back to the book - with Tim's distinctive voice, it takes you through the elements of style, as opposed to fashion or trends. "Quality, taste and style" will become your mantra whether you're shopping for a raincoat, theater tickets, wedding china, or a paint color for your living room! Yes, there is advice you've heard before - buy the best quality you can afford, keep it simple, have your clothes tailored - but there is also plenty of new things to ponder. I loved his advise of, once determining which clothes you really love, that you wear them for the next week. You quickly discover whether you are buying clothes that are appropriate for your current lifestyle. Frankly, who could ask for fresher eyes to look over your wardrobe that the inimitably elegant Mr. Tim Gunn?

I've seen several episodes of PR and was consistently befuddled by the hooplah. I often left thinking, this is the best American design has to offer; and who are these judges? I was never really convinced that Mr. Gunn knew all that much about fashion or fashion history. Still, I thought I'd reserve my judgment until after I'd read the book even though "Make it work" has become the new "Where's the beef." The book is written in a writing style that perfectly exmemplifies the affected personality of the character Mr. Gunn portrays on television and is punctuated by advice that is as cliched as his signature sound bites. Buy a fabulous pair of shoes instead or purchase A guide to Elegance by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux. A truly charming French woman actually employed in the fashion industry as the derectrice of Nina Ricci.
