To me, Candice is one of the best designers of today. She makes a room feel classic with a punch of todays trends. None of the to trendy, cheep looking items that will be out dated by the time you finish your space. She is a master of timeless beauty. I love her book!

This book is the information we all want to know about how Candice creates the beautiful rooms seen on Devine Design. The advice she gives in her book anyone can follow to get the results we all want. This book is a keeper to anyone who wants their surroundings to fit their lifestyle, without ever haveing an outdated look. Plus there is great information about Candice herself.

What makes Candice Olson so appealing on TV, her vibrant personality and animated and often humorous character-is the only thing missing from this book. Everything else you would expect from such a talented individual, even if we have already seen most of it through media, shines through with greatness. Along with this purchase I had acquired another new decorating book on the market, Your Home A Living Canvas: Create Stunning Faux Finishes & Murals with Paint, by Curtis Heuser - and though I had never heard of this unique up and coming designer/decorative artist, I was equally impresssed. Heuser's book, a unique blend of how to and professional enlightment, follows the unbelievable artistic make over and restoration of his personal historic home in KY. As does Candice's book, it is also filled with amazing photography, and tons of before, during and after shots - which tremendously helps the reader better comprehend, relate and borrow from the subject. What Olson does with fabric, furniture and lighting - Houser uses decorative paint finishes and custom murals, to breathe new life into tired spaces. I was never so thrilled with both of my purchases, as both authors demonstrate uniquely different approaches to looking at and restyling home interiors with great admiration and obvious know how and success. If you love home interior books with overloads of eye candy, and concept from which to learn and of course borrow from again and again - then you can't go wrong with either of these. ENJOY!!!!!!!

I love Candice's show, but was disappointed in this book. There were only a few designs covered, and not enough information to make the book worthwhile. I like the tips and tricks she gave, but would have liked more insight into how she makes her rooms amazing.

As an Interior Design student, I found this book was helpful with learning how to render floor plans and elevations. The design projects were done well, and were realistic types of projects that I might work on in the future, so it was fun trying to copy her sketches, to learn how she made them so beautiful, and figure out how to do it myself.

The text is well-written in conversational syle, without being patronizing and she has a good sense of humor, so it was a welcome break from standard text books, and I felt like I actually learned from it too.

I would suggest this book to people who are interested in design on a hobby level, as well as students and designers.

I bought the book cause I just love Candice's work and design. I admire her projects.
But the book is definetly dissapointment. My first impresoion was that the paper that was used to print the book - a cheap peace that destroyed the quality of the photos in it. Also, the text that goes with every design project do not say anything interesting or helpful.

The book was part of the Candice Olson birthday package I picked up for the missus - see my review elsewhere of the Candice Olson lamp - and we both enjoyed reading it. The bedroom where Candice uses dark wood flooring for the headboard wall is my personal favorite, and I might just have to rip off that idea for my basement project.

And not to give too much away, the foreword on her personal history will make your belly ache from laughter. I sure as hell wouldn't put my high school pictures in any of MY books!

The book's only fault is that it's too short, but for those used to reading design books, you'll probably find the writing much livier, as if they didn't force the designer or architect to pull double-duty by writing the text. It also puts Candice's work front and center, without the sometimes distracting (but necessary) banter of the TV show.

That said, the book is not a "series synopsis" and will not substitute for watching the show. It will make a great coffee table read or a gift for friends who might enjoy her show.

Candice Olson on Design containg many beautiful pictures of her work. I can say to all, but many of the rooms are from the shows from HGTV. However, I was disapppointed by the lack of explaination of some of the design ideas. My purpose of this purchase of this book was to give rationale to some of her design ideas and how I could implement them into my home. This book was very non-general and mainly for someone whom may want a picture book only. An even so, The photos never keyed into her usage of lighting. Which she always incorporates for any of her rooms. Your better off watch the show or DIY.

The book "Candice Olson on Design" is really good, although it's too bad that there isn't a chapter on lighting. Candice's application of lighting on her TV show, Divine Design, is so "wow". Candice's remodels of existing fire places leaves me waiting breathlessly for her design sketches to be transformed to trophy pieces by her crew of expert building technicians. Her book is a definite must for those of us that need the confidence shared with us by authors that are practitioners of what we want-a beautiful home.
Candice Olson is the Queen of TV Interior Designers!

Candice Olson is a magnificent designer with an eye for what is new and incorporates traditional pieces together to make beautiful, yet comfortable designs. The illustrated floor plans along with the elements (i.e. fabric, flooring, tiles, etc.) used are very helpful to the reader to use the same technique in their own homes.

I love to watch Divine Design but wasn't too impressed with the book. Don't waste your money.

Makeovers described in general terms. Pictures choices were not that impressive. The book was not as exciting as the TV makeovers are.

I try not to miss any Divine Designs and was glad to this this product. Ordered it, loved it and find it extremely helpful

I try never to miss a show on TV-the re-runs are fun for me since I am just now discovering Candice this year. My daughter purchased the book for me & I was off and running. I have re-done the four second floor bedrooms with all of her ideas-How Divine!!!

I love Candice Olson, I love her ideas, and her ability to create. I love all this yet I don't always like her style! Sometimes it's a little too feminine or old for me but if she designed my own place, I know it would be great. She has great tips on here for you and just great sketches and summaries of her projects you've seen. However, it is much more in-depth than on the show. I recommend this book!

If you love her show, this will be a familiar layout and you'll recall just how she executed these looks. I wish there were details about where she sourced her lighting fixtures, furniture, floor coverings, those fabulous mirror panels she uses, and the lettering that she puts on walls, as well as specific details about "how" you get that Candice look (like the gem about putting the halogen potlights 16 to 18 inches from the wall to get that wall-washed look she loves). Candice, please give us your secrets! And by the way, if you haven't looked at her furniture line at Norwalk, run to the nearest store. I have one of her sofas, and it is truly Divine!

Very tastefully designed book. Pictures are truely worth a thousand words in everything she does. Simply an excellent read.

Prized photos teamed with easy reading provides insight into Candice's unique decorating style.

Candice's fun approach to decorating motivates even us ordinary folk to transform our uninspiring blah-rooms into soothing welcoming centers pleasing to both eyes and soul.

I love watching Devine Design with Candice Olson and right after found out about her book, ordered it right away, it's awesome book with great pictures for ideas for you own home, the style of writing makes reading pleasant

We ordered this book when we were planning to redo our kitchen. The book was most helpful because it had a few tips (like where to place recessed lighting) that we did not see elsewhere. We're planning to do a lot of the work ourselves. Otherwise, we found magazines specifically for kitchen remodeling that helped us just as much in terms of finding what styles and placement we liked.

My wife is a big fan of Candice. She has done some large remodeling projects on our homes over the years and isn't exactly a novice on these types of things. I thought this would be a no brainer as far as scoring "hubby" points and bought her the book. Big mistake, while I didn't read it I was told by the wife that this was nothing more than worked over material from previous shows with a few tid bits thrown in to spice things up. She did say that there was a bit of interesting background on Candice but reading the book in general was a disappointment and waste of time to say the least. Bummer I say!

My mother and I are avid fans of Divine Design so when this book came out, I had to have it. It was filled with some pictures from various shows as well as many other ideas for your home decor. Color selections were amazing. I wish they had included many more pictures so hopefully she'll come out with another book.

I love the show divine design, however there could have been more pictures and a lot less wording in this book. Maybe her next book could be a compilation of all of the rooms that she decorated on her show.

I love Candice Olson Designs and this book is a good guide line for ideas. The Pictures are great, the reason why I do not rate it 5 stars is because I wish she would go over in more detail on how to do certain things. Other than that, is a great book to start your ideas floating.

CANDICE DESERVES A 10. HER PROGRAM ON HTGR IS THE BEST. SHE IS TRULY THE BEST DESIGNER IN THE WORLD. CANDICE IS TRULY GIFTED. GOD BLESS HER LIFE. SHE NOT ONLY PAZAZZES YOU, SHE AND HER CREW MAKE YOU LAUGH. I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THE GIFTS SHE GIVES EVERYONE.

Candace put together an amazing design book. FULL of professional tips, gorgeous pictures, and her usual quirky humor. Every time I pick it up I get something more. Don't hesitate. It's a great one for your library and a very enjoyable read.

I've always loved Candice's designs. I watch her all the time her HGTV show, "DIVINE DESIGN". Her book was great as expected.
The book has some of the designs from some of my favorite Divine Design episodes. The book has great before-and-after transformations of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms. There are also lots of great tips and drawings.

I love this book, and definitely would recommend it.

Candice Olson is a wonderful designer. This book enables me to see how she comes up with ideas and what goes on behind the design work.

Candice Olson has a complete grasp on color palette subtlety as well as using space to her best advantage. She uses a fresh approach in decorating that never appears "off the rack". Her wonderful use of lighting is something many designers leave out of rooms, thus leaving the room looking and feeling flat. This book is packed with things to learn. The examples shown in the chapters create a foundation for designers to expand with their own creative ideas.

I love this book for her furniture layouts. Great tips and hints. I love the show, if we can stop some of the comedy stuff and just decorate.

Candice Olsen is one of my favorite designers. When this book came out, I was chomping at the bit to get it...and I wasn't disappointed. Several of my favorite Candice designs are laid out in the book and inspire me to decorate my own home. This is definitely a winner - a fun read and still a good coffee table book!

As a normal guy who enjoys interior design and Candice Olson's "Divine Design" in moderation I was interested in purchasing this book as a gift for my mother unfamiliar with the show. I was definitely not disappointed with the quality of the layout and most importantly for those who watch the show or have simply heard of this best selling book, the pictures truly speak for themselves. Very clear, bright and they truly allow you to visualize the spaces created for yourself. What stops me from giving the book 5 stars however is that despite the show and Candice being Canadian I think she could have done a great service by providing a reference list for where readers can purchase similar items and accessories found in the remodels, even if they were in Canada. I love the metal chairs found on p.21 for example, as well as some of the coffee tables and chairs that you can see throughout. Highly recommended for any fan of the show,anyone who likes to dream of the perfect interior and to get some great remodeling and interior design ideas.

My husband and I love the show and believe that Candice is the ONLY designer we would ever hire to decorate our home (if I didn't do it myself). This book is great because it contains the designs that appear on the show and allows us to view them in detail (since it's hard to grasp everything in 30 minutes). The ideal reader for this book is someone who loves Candice, loves the show, and is not looking for hand-holding, step-by-step information. It's for those of us who see something we like and then want to incorporate portions of one (or more) of her designs in our own environment.

I really enjoy the show so knew I would like the book. She goes through her thought process and tons of great ideas that are easy to replicate if you're so inclined. Good book for design.

As I expected, the book was rather entretaining. Candice Olson takes design to a new, unexpected level. The design ideas have inspired me as a young designer to come up with alternatives to traditional designs. The suggestions and tips included in this book make decorating fun and smart. The way the author addresses each room reminds me of the show "Divine Design".
I can't wait to start in my next project after reading this book! My only word of advice is that if you want to create one of these rooms, you'd better prepare your pocket.

I am a big Candice Olson fan and she is my Mom's favorite TV designer/decorator. This book DOES feature projects from her TV show, but this was a plus for me. I have TIVO'd and recorded on DVD my favorite shows, but this is a great companion to the show. The advantage of the book it that you can focus in on a detail you might not have noticed on the show. There were actually two redesign projects in the book I have not seen on TV, so that was nice bonus. What I really like about this book is that the before and after pictures were of the same perspective AND the photography/lighting of the rooms was top notch. Even the smaller photos of the before rooms are clear.

Even if you've never seen Candice Olson's TV show (Divine Design) you will find this book chock full of great photos, descriptions and her complete layout of each room. If you have never seen her work, when you see the before pictures, then the after pictures your mouth will drop open. It's amazing what she can do. What I like about Candice as a designer is that her designs are totally focused on creating a beautiful design but also incorporating a family's lifestyle into the design. She does not just create "show rooms" she makes the rooms functional for the family. My only quibble, which is the same quibble I have about the TV show is that there are no costs listed. You have NO idea how much these rooms costs! Saying that, I would gladly save my money to have her come and decorate a few rooms in my house! It's too bad for me she lives in Canada and not the U. S.

What are my thoughts on this book..."How Divine."

I love this book! It is so great to be able to really study the gorgeous photos for design details you can't always grasp from the show. I can see myself referring to this book to time and time again for inspiration. If I had one wish, it would only be that even the small pictures were full page to really get a good look at everything in the room. Having said this though, there are still a quite a few full page shots to really get a good look at the design. How about some 2 page spreads for the next book? That would be really helpful! (AND beautiful!)

I read the book and the information is very useful. The photos on the other hand are pictures of episodes already aired on tv. I love Devine Design and I would have liked pictures of material we had not seen.

The more I watch what Candace Olson does in her TV show, the more impressed I am with her creativity and style. This book is good, in that you get focused views and explanations of different rooms. But for me, the "how does she do it" was missing. It seems like the book is good at analyzing the finished product, but not explaining how to get there.

This is one of my two favorite design books (Nate Berkus' Home Rules is the other). After watching Divine Design for years, I was using many of the principles learned there as I started a major renovation. I was happy to see this book and ordered it immediately. The only thing that was disappointing is that it only features designs that have been previously featured on Divine Design (I remember them all). I was hoping for a few tips from other projects. But I definitely refer to it regularly when making those small but important choices in renovation.

I love Divine Design and watch it frequently. Unfortunately, most everything in the book was a repeat of what I'd seen on tv many times. I was hoping for something new.

I love watching Candice Olson; I think she has the best design show on TV at this time, due to her and her crews personality, along with her magnificent style. Very seldom do I see a room that she designed that I don't particularly care for.
My sister and daughters were laughing at me after I told them that I was recording all of Candice Olson's Devine Design show on TV that I was able to watch for about 2 months prior to Christmas. So as a late Christmas gift my sister gave me Candice Olson's on Design book.
I love the book; it's very different looking at the rooms that's she designed on TV in a book and the pictures are just as great if not better. There's only 1 problem I found, the master bedroom design under the title "Best for Last" pages 90-95 the diagram (on page 92) does not belong to that design, it actually belongs to the master bedroom design under "Graciously Grown-Up" pages 102-107. All and all it is a great book; it includes some of my favorites, like a little girl's bedroom, a small picture of a Nursery, the Mom and Dad's Oasis master bathroom, the Devine Dining Room along with some new favorites from shows that I've missed. I look forward into seeing what else Candice Olson comes up with.

I ordered the book from Amazon without even seeing it yet. I absolutely love Candice Olson and her designs. She is so classy and I love each and every room she has designed on her HGTV show, Divine Design. She coordinates items so well. Her designs are just perfect! I'm looking forward to receiving her book!
