My goal is to someday be the person my dog thinks I am. --Anonymous
Bestselling author Dean Koontz says that his dog, Trixie, changed his life and made him a better, happier person. A 68-pound dog who lived close to the ground, Trixie certainly did cast a long shadow. She first became known outside of her own house (dog-house, that is) as a guest blogger on Dean's website, signing off every entry Life is Good, Bliss to You. Now, in this warm and funny book--as told to Dean Koontz--Trixie once again shares her inspiring outlook on life and reveals the eight steps that anyone can take to achieve not merely happiness, but bliss. Packed with dog wisdom, both poignant and funny, this charming and heartfelt book gives the reader much food for thought--which might not be as tasty as a bowl of kibble but is nonetheless nourishing. Bliss to You! |

I truly enjoyed this book. I had a golden retreiver who was trained as a service dog for my husband with MS. My dog recently died and I'm sure that he and Trixie are friends.

Another hit by Koontz, This is an enjoyable book written from a dogs perspective that may give more insight to important things we may already know or should know about life and how to live it.

I have not read any of the other Trixie books, nor will I. This tiny book, has very few words. Most of the pages have less than 50 words, and many fewer than 20 words. (lots of blank white space on each page.) The grammar is horrible. Flipping through the book, I did not find anything funny or enlightening. How this book could "change your life" (as one reviewer indicated) is beyond me. I wish Amazon would have let me read a few pages of this "book" before buying it.
Entire Page 66: Eat grass, throw up. Doesn't sound like fun, but is. Entire Page 67: Love and sausage are alike. Can never have enough of either. I feel I was ripped-off and I am going to return this garbage. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-12-22 09:59:04 EST)

I enjoyed this book, it really makes you think about how dogs see people
and maybe we should slow down and smell the roses. Everyone who loves dogs should read this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-12-22 01:09:15 EST)

Written by Trixie Koontz, the author's golden retriever, this book shares meaningful insights into life, and what's important in life. Trixie's steps to bliss are indeed true, and are written with humor from a dog's perspective. I highly recommend this book - I have already purchased another copy to give as a gift to a friend.

I'm still smiling after completing this very uplifting little book. I read it to my daughter who is a great lover of all things comical. But I also read it for myself because I miss Trixie. Those of us who got reports about her antics via her dad's newsletters really fell in love with her. And we were saddened when she passed away. You can't keep a good dog from expressing herself, though, so Trixie is now sending us 'stay happy' messages full of commonsensical advice through her dad, Dean Koontz. Also, in keeping with her generous nature all proceeds will be donated to Canine Companions for Independence. My favorite line in the book is on page 68: "Dogs love to make fools of themselves. Join in. We won't tell anybody." Of course, humans are too uptight to let go and risk making fools of themselves. We worry about what others will think of us. I'm going to risk it now, though, and say: Keep sending us messages from the other side, Trixie. We need to be reminded that happiness is a choice and life is too short to be taken so seriously!

I hope Dean realizes that we're not crazed stalking nut jobs out here because we truly fell in love with Trixie. In the past years Trixie has grown from the dog in the photo on the dust jacket of his books to the dog in our hearts. He's said all the good things about her that we were maybe too unsure to say about our own animal companions. Dean loved Trixie and acclaimed her without embarrassment. We watched the gray hair around the muzzle grow more and more prevalent on each new publication but the videos on his web site showed that she was still silly and playful.
We read Trixie's blog and laughed at the sentiments of "Trixie Koontz, dog". I remember the day that her passing was announced and calls came in to work from all over the country from the group of us who'd professed our affection for her. We talked a little and laughed a lot and wrote checks to "Canine Companions" as Dean Koontz requested. I understand the proceeds from this book are being donated to this deserving organization. Dean Koontz's web site now carries a blog from TOTOS "Trixie on the other side" and she continues to write from the Rainbow Bridge; she's still in our hearts and on the page. This books is similar to many of her other writings - down home good advice. The kind you got from grammy. You will also find some convoluted Trixie logic like her professing that dogs would be better drivers than Paris Hilton. She even admits her weaknesses like her profound dislike (not hatred) of cats. This is a good book, written by a good dog who is loved by a very good man..Bliss to you, Dean and Bliss to you, too, Trixie.....bg (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-26 10:10:50 EST)

Thank you Trixie! You are a good dog! You deserve many doggie bones for this book. I don't like crying, but as soon as I would start, you would write something funny, and I could laugh through my tears. Are all dogs as smart as you? You couldn't have gotten all your wisdom from your human dad. He is just wierd. I think you covered all the points on being blissful, and I thank you so much for that. I found your book very easy to read, as, like your "dad", you kept your chapters short. I like that. Eventhough I have all of your other books, this is my favorite. I am buying 8 more copies to give away. After that, I am going to roll around on the rug and hope that someone gives me a bellyrub. I hope you get Amazon.com up in Rainbow Bridge, but I am sure you do. Everyone in the world should read this book (even cats), then all would be well.

If you are looking for a Dean Koontz thriller this isn't the book for you. However, if you are looking for a light read that will bring many smiles to your face...you've found the right book. If you don't like dogs you probably won't like this book.

I am a huge fan of Dean Koontz's, and since I love dogs it was only natural for me to check out what Trixie had to say. I loved it! I openly laughed more times than I could count (startling many co-workers in the process.)
My only complaint is the way the Kindle version was formatted. Text on every other "page" was very aggravating if you were on font size 3...I was not willing to make the text smaller, and if any bigger it would have been too big to read in a nice smooth flow...but maybe I am just a whiner... I bought this book to help my wife and daughter cope with the recent death of our 8 year old dog. I laughed and cried myself as I read it, and could almost see our little mongrel speaking the words to me with that way dogs look at those they love. The simple steps (messages) of loving others, being grateful and happy may seem like something out of a 12-step program, but trying to put them into context of loss and grief helped me understand that we have choices to remember the good, or go on living with sadness. I'll see my Chiqui some day at Rainbow Bridge!

Trixie Koontz's new book, "Bliss to You", is a testament to what happens when an author has a unique insight into human nature that can only come from living among them with a loving, yet realistic and accepting heart. In her third book (and the first pawed from the other side), Trixie outlines her eight steps for humans to find bliss in their lives (calm, beauty, fun, meaning, others, humility, loss, gratitude). The simplicity, yet poignant accuracy of her wisdoms hits home delivering a wild ride of tears and laughs all rolled into one tremendous book. You need only to look into the eyes of our dog friends, as we do with our own Golden, to know that Trixie's wisdom is truth for us all.
Thank you Trixie! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-15 12:52:27 EST)

I am totally and completely a "Trixie Fan." I swear that if she had a Fan Club - I would want to be President of it. Or at least in charge of the membership drive! LOL
I believe that our pets do wait for us. And I feel sorry for the cynics that choose not to believe this. That said, I have never anticipated a book more than BLISS TO YOU. Frankly...it was worth the wait. BLISS TO YOU is funny, sweet, informative and PROFOUND. It is the perfect gift to give every dog lover in your life. Also perfect for everyone whom you care about in your life who maybe is feeling low or depressed or doesn't seem to know what his purpose is in life. And remember! ALL of the proceeds from BLISS TO YOU go to support Trixie's favorite charity: Canine Companions for Independence! (CCI) This is SUCH a worthwhile organization and it helps so many individuals and soldiers who are incapacitated or in wheelchairs or deaf. The book itself is beautiful and absolutely great for displaying on your coffee table. But what is INSIDE this book is even MORE beautiful. Lessons about life from our favorite TOTOS. Buy this book. After you read it, you'll be able to throw away any self-help books you may have read in the past, because you won't need them any more.
Everything you need to know to make you happy - it's all in here. Happiness is simple when you have a dog explain it to you. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-28 23:52:24 EST)
