Suns of God: Krishna, Buddha and Christ Unveiled

Picking up where the bestselling and controversial "The Christ Conspiracy" leaves off, "Suns of God" leads the reader through an electrifying exploration of the origin and meaning of the world's religions and popular gods. Over the past several centuries, the Big Three spiritual leaders have been the Lords Christ, Krishna and Buddha, whose stories and teachings are curiously and confoundingly similar to each other. The tale of a miraculously born redeemer who overcomes heroic challenges, teaches ethics and morality, performs marvels and wonders, acquires disciples and is famed far and wide, to be persecuted, killed and reborn, is not unique but a global phenomenon recurring in a wide variety of cultures long before the Christian era.

These numerous godmen were not similar "historical" personages who "walked the earth" but anthropomorphizations of the central focus of the famous "mysteries." A major element of the cryptic, international brotherhood, these mysteries extend back thousands of years and are found worldwide, reflecting an ancient tradition steeped in awe and intrigue. The reasons for this religious development, which has inspired the creation of entire cultures, are unveiled in this in-depth analysis containing fascinating and original research based on evidence both modern and ancient, captivating information kept secret and hidden for ages.

"Suns of God" is possibly the most complete review of the history of religion from its inception ever composed in a single volume.

DM Murdock aka Acharya S had written a detailed sketch of the transition of the ancient beliefs that later turned out to be the religions of both the east and the west. This book clearly shows how much research a person writing about historical and religious issues must perform and how sensitive the information can be for certain groups. I am a Hindu and I have always held true that Dharma - the righteousness preached by our religion is very close to the Goodness in human nature. Rules are transient and with technology they are even more transient. Forcing rigid medieval dogmatic rules seems to have gotten worse in the modern age with Christians using new and new means to propagate the Church. On the other hand the Islamic world is under dark cloud of the fundamentalists. This book is a crucial read for not only hard core atheists and agnostics, but to every devoted Dharmic, Christian, Muslim, Jew or Buddhist who want to know how man wen on to establishing theology and religion from ancient times till date.

As a Hindu I do not take any offenses by the book. In fact the book clearly states that Vedic principles are indeed the oldest surviving religious works and all religion in the world had directly or indirectly emerged off a set of common beliefs which the Vedas are the most undisturbed or un spoilt source. As a rational human beings we can reason and think logically of religion and spirituality differs. How political is religion and how religious is polity!

I know that many groups are offended by the writings. Honestly we need proper dialog and discussion fora - bickering, censoring or fighting over such issues of hurt sentiments only strengthens the cause of political - mindied religious activists and makes the real thinking people less powerful!

This person's works have been completely debunked by Christian and non-Christian scholars alike, which is why the only publishing house that would touch her writings also asserts that werewolves exist and the lost city of Atlantis has been found. If you want to believe lies, assertions with no original source backings, and quotes from those who practice the same shoddy research as this individual, enjoy! However, if you want the truth about the historical Jesus and accounts of pagan gods that match with reality and space/time history, you'll need to go elsewhere.

Have just finished reading "Suns of God" by Acharya S!
Have also read "The Christ Conspiracy" in addition to "Who Was Jesus" and am anxiously-looking-forward to reading her work called "Christ In Egypt"!
While I could ramble on and assert in "no uncertain terms" that these three [3] books are among [the] most informative I have [ever] read; and, since I've been researching the same and/or similar subject matter [in great detail] since 1970 when I first obtained my "Research-Reader's Card" from the University of Toronto's Robarts Library (thereby allowing me access into the "Stacks" as well as into the Thomas Cook Rare Books sections) and have read many, many of the sources Ms. Acharya S. references and quotes - I can only state that in my opinion, anyone who has the unmitigated gall/audacity to negatively criticize the data - and in so-doing belittle all the obvious effort this [most] knowledgeable person has put into her works - has either [not] read the book and/or has become so "....reality-blind-sided..." with religious rhetoric as to make that person [and/or persons] well-fit for life in the 4th century of the Common Era when this [invented] "Greco-Roman Christ schematic" had been built into a Hellenistic, Judeao-Christian Institution under the rubric of a Universal [Catholic] Church; a belief system designed to prop up a [declining] overly-indulged Roman Empire; a system that would monstrously grow to become [the] most audacious "Money-Making" enterprise ever invented! For details of this [undeniable fact], I suggest (as does the author of this book) that one consult a book called "In God's Name" by David A. Yallop, part 4, pages 90-156); a book I have read twice and sourced often!
As indicated above, without going into a [rant], I wish to quote a passage from Ms. Acharya S's book found on page 562

Summarizing the history of Christianity
[excerpted from "Christian Mythology Unveiled";
a Series of Lectures by Mitchell Logan]:
"To the shame of the credulous and priest-degraded mankind, the present superstition of Europe hath been established, as it were, in defiance of the light of Nature, reason, common sense, and a11 experience; and what is still more strange and revolting, by those very means and agencies which men ought to hold most in contempt and detestation; viz., fraud, forgery, pretended miracles and prophecies, hypocrisy, avarice, tyranny, cruelty, massacres, and wars which have deluged the earth with blood, and sacrificed hundreds of millions of human beings to its frenzied demon."
*
["Contrary to popular belief, Christianity was not created in an atmosphere of love and peace; rather, it was formed at the ends of swords pointed at members of the clergy and laity alike. Bloody battles were fought over doctrine at every turn, each tiny and ultimately meaningless detail wrestled over tooth and nail. Bishops and their hooligans appeared at synods and slaughtered those who disagreed with them, a shameful behavior that occurred in numerous places where Christianity spread. For example, the all-important Council of Nicea (326 CE), during which so much Christian dogma was established, was a congregation of lunatics who, Episcopius says, "were led on by fury, faction, and madness"
"The list of religious atrocities committed in the sacrosanct name of Christ is long and varied":]
*
"In proof of this, witness the gibbets, the wheels, the massacres, and the horrible burnings at the stake of nearly a hundred thousand human beings in a single province-the massacres and devastations of nine mad crusades of Christians against unoffending Turks, during nearly two hundred years; in which many millions of human beings perished-the massacre of the Anabaptists-the massacres of the Lutherans and Papists, from the Rhine to the extremities of the north-the massacres in Ireland, England, and Scotland, in the time of Charles the First, who was himself massacred-the massacres ordered by Henry the Eighth and his daughter Mary-the massacres of St. Bartholomew in France; and forty years more of other massacres between the time of Francis the First, and the entry of Henry the Fourth into Paris-the massacres of the Inquisition, which are more execrable still, as being judicially committed-to say nothing of the innumerable schisms, and twenty wars of popes against popes-bishops against bishops the poisoning assassinations-the cruel rapines of more than a dozen of popes, who far exceeded a Nero or Caligula in every species of crime and wickedness-the massacre of twelve millions of the inhabitants of the new world, executed CRUCIFIX IN HAND; and all for the honour and glory of the Jewish deity and his son!" {End of quote)
***
The world ("Flat" though it was then deemed) had never-ever experienced anything likened to what has happened from the 4th century of the Common Era until the Renaissance; and which (more subtly, perhaps), is still on-going!
Before I can conclude this review, while a vast majority of critics have mostly congratulated the author[ess], I must note the following "Pseudonymistic" critics, who are [again in my opinion] literally "Brain Dead"!
*
"Jeri Nevermind love to read" (from Potato country, Idaho) who'd published a negative comment on November 10, 2005 - a flat-headed critic who express little understanding of what he/she [claims] to have read!
*
"louis smith "louis" who'd published a negative comment on February 21, 2005 -- another of those "blind-faith indoctrinates" who appear not to be able to see beyond the horizon in which lay the realm of reality; he, according to his commentary, appears as another of those "boxed-in" Supernaturalists, per se!

Acharya is simply outstanding. This should be required reading for all Christians provided they use their rational mind to objectively evaluate the evidence. Those with the blinders of faith firmly in place should buy and study this book. Since religion can be equated with mental delusion, a person owes themselves the dignity to question the embraced myth. This book will show you the questions to ask and point the way to find the answers. The many scholars of the past who proved beyond a shadow of doubt that the big three Sun Gods are mythological constructions are amply sampled. The quote heavy format and simplified bibliography make SoG a useful tool for those seeking to understand the development of religious legend. This book should be very helpful. Its a strong buy.

(Hide Review...)  Disturbing until Deprogrammed -- Scholarship that Lifts the Veils
Reviewer Permalink
Acharya has researched a variety of sources to pull together truths that lift the comfortable veil shadowing most of humanity today. At first for people embedded in one of the main world religions, as it was for me, this can be a disturbing but important read. If one keeps an open mind and is willing to independently see truth, Acharya's books are important towards deprogramming people.

We see clearly all around us how the impetus for many wars and manipulations are abusing the good intentions of people who have believed the cobbled together "sacred" books. As one withdraws support from these manipulations, it becomes clearer that mind control actually is used to tie humanity to needless suffering -- both self-imposed and externally inflicted.

I actually was afraid to write a review for a period since the mind control programming was so strong. People today are still entrained to shun those who are not of their particular belief systems.

If one is willing to leave the shores and explore, a wise life choice, Acharya's books are a good place to begin. It feels like a medicine that tastes bad almost bad enough to kill you, but it is effective. The scholarship is extensive and this book is a bargain. If read with an open mind, this book can be life changing, if you'll let it. If you do, you won't want to go back. You'll find you're beginning to buy your own freedom of choice and can choose life in ways perhaps previously unavailable to you.

At the very least, it's an interesting read. Also consider, the more something is opposed (the more energy that goes into putting something down like these books), the more important it is to understand what's behind the efforts to suppress the information.

As a former Christian minister, and perhaps more importantly as a former apologist for the faith I would like to comment on this latest book from Acharya S.

First, and what is often hardest for the faithful to accept, is that she is correct in nearly all of her statements concerning the history of organized religions, especially in the west.
Second, and perhaps equally difficult for those who prefer fantasy to reality, is that she is so direct about it. She makes no bones about her belief, or perhaps lack of belief, and although she and I do not agree on every detail- still, Acharya has pretty much outlined, at least for anyone seriously considering a leap off that fence between belief and disbelief, a required text- a primer of common sense if you wish. I have read the reviews and it would seem that you either loved the book- or hated it. There is no way anyone, regardless of how faithful to their religion they might be, can rate this book any less than 4 stars, if for nothing more than the viable research it involved. One major problem that many find with adherents to religion is their black and white- all or nothing approaches to pretty much everything. They are not open to new ideas or new beliefs- they have a vested interest in staying the course. Recently I was asked to be part of a panel formed to investigate the accuracy of some of the Gnostic texts that were voted out of the official Bible. For purposes of historical and social accuracy, many panel members were using the accepted Bible. This I felt was completely wrong headed- as anyone who sees the Bible as the final edict of historical fact is already refusing to accept or acknowledge any other authority, for example the writers Tacitus and Philo of Alexandria. This ties in to the very basis of Acharya's books- the search for and use of other source materials and mythologies that may perhaps better explain the history of western religions. If we remember that the first synod was in Laodicea a part of modern day Greece, where about 363 AD, a group of men came together to decided which books of the dozens of Gospel accounts were to be aloud to be read in churches. Since that time, there have been almost a dozen similar organizations, headed by Bishops, Popes, and Emperors, that have managed to rule out many of the stories about Jesus that conflicted with the idea that some, and certainly not most, of his original followers held of who he was. They have given us the Bible in it's current accepted edition. Had all the original manuscripts been kept, the Bible of today would be an even bigger jumble of contradiction, confusion, and myth. However, having read most of this material, I think it would certainly would have made for a better read.

Finally, as I explained to the committee- the Gospels are not history; they are religious stories and propaganda. They are contradictory, exaggerated, and in many aspects mythical. To many non-Christian historical researchers, those who deal with cold facts, there remains serious doubt that Jesus ever existed as a real person, although I believe he did. Still, it is impossible to prove anything about him apart from he may or may not have been an historical figure and it is more plausible, as Acharya points out in her first book, that Jesus was the result of myth making, a human process that is indeed historically documented.

Finally, let me say to the faithful, I would recommend avoiding this book- it may well become the fly in your ointment of a faith based life. To others, especially those indoctrinated into religion at an early age- perhaps it is time to seek a foundation for your beliefs in a book other than the Bible. Also I especially enjoyed the FOREWORD.

Pay no attention to the flatliner-fundiots that diss this book without even having read it! These lying snakes-in-the-grass carry on their ideological warfare, "lying for the truth" all over Amazon. They're human dreck sucking filth at the teets of evil!

Now on to Acharya's delightful book! :-D

Starting where her controversial (and bestselling) book The Christ Conspiracy left off, Suns of God guides the reader in an illuminating journey all the way back to the origins of the three greatest World Religions and the Triumvirate of its three deities: Buddha, Krishna, and Christ. Acharya demonstrates that the life stories and teachings of these three Demigods are suspiciously similar. Take for instance the tale of the virgin-born divine Teacher/Savior who overcomes demonic temptations, instructs his followers in sublime morality and ethics, works wonders and miracles, forms a band of followers, and is hailed as a Godsend far and wide. Then this Godman is finally persecuted, put to death, and resurrected. This tale is not unique to Christianity, but occurs many times throughout history, and all over the world, predating by centuries and even millennia the story of Jesus Christ.

The many Demigods or "Godmen" throughout history are not historical figures that just "happen" by coincidence to share the same nature and life story! No, these "Godmen" are all one and the same Mythic being under many names, a Myth that has been central to the so-called "Mystery religions" throughout recorded human history. This dying-and-rising Godman Myth is the focal point of a worldwide fellowship whose Mysteries reach back for many millennia. That is why these Godmen Myths are unbiquitous, and carry such an air of occult mystery. In fact, it is this Godman Myth that is behind the generation of a number of entire cultures! Acharya S explores all this and more as she takes the reader on a fascinating journey to Understanding. She reveals to the reader exactly why this Divine Myth was created, by divulging the secrets of the worldwide effort to illumine humanity through this central Mythical motif that is found all over the world. She also exposes those who wish to derail the purpose of this Myth by changing it's focus to...well, you'll have to read the book to find out!

Suns of God is the best and most comprehensive treatment of the History of Religion that has ever been offered in a single, readable, enjoyable volume. Suns of God is not merely a sequel, but a solid piece of research that stands on its own. I give this book five stars and two thumbs way up!

An excellent five-star companion volume is JEHOVAH UNMASKED which has been endorsed by Acharya S herself! "Rev. Merritt illustrates a powerful personal journey that many people can relate to but may not yet have made themselves. Like our individualized personalities, our conclusions to cosmic conundrums may be different. Nevertheless, JEHOVAH UNMASKED represents another nail in the biblical coffin that contains a mummified and rotten god belonging to the violent barbarians and troglodytes of the Stone Age." -Acharya S.

JEHOVAH UNMASKED is a fascinating look at the real identity of the god Jehovah. Is Jehovah "Almighty God" or just a pretender? Is God a despotic murdering lunatic as the Old Testament depicts, or is that just a pretender god? Did the first Christians believe in God the Mother? What and where is the Kingdom of God? Who told the First Lie in the Garden of Eden, Jehovah or the Serpent? Are you SURE? Who or what was it that gave us the list of New Testament books as we have them now? The answers to these questions will shock, fascinate, inform, and entertain.

(Hide Review...)  A Definitive Milestone.....Acharya S Has Nailed It ! (Pun Intended)

After reading through the positive reviews here, there isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said about this historic work.

I have read many books on the subject of the "historical truth" of "Jesus" Christ, and the knowledge contained within "Suns Of God" explains in only 600 pages what many have spent their entire lives trying to discover, only to realize that they have wasted their entire lives not even knowing or understanding what it was that they were actually searching for in the first place.

There is no "One Book" that, by itself and on it's own merits, can bring an ignorant or unenlightened person into the realm of consciousness....but with "Suns Of God", Acharya S manages to lay a solid, impenetrable groundwork and reference for those who sincerely seek truth.

This is an epic work which DESERVES the attention of many. Unfortunately, we live in a world where TRUTH is usually met with someone "being offended". I would like to see this book get a great deal of attention from the American Public, and if history is any indication, it probably won't.....but then again, history exists only for us to change it.

I came to the conclusion many moons ago that whether or not Jesus Christ existed as an actual, living, breathing man was completely IRRELEVANT if you understood what it is that he taught and stood for (or represented). Acharya S has captured and cemented this sentiment in a way that I haven't seen since Manly P. Hall's masterful work "The Secret Teachings Of All Ages: An Enclycopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Roiscrucian Symbolical Philosophy"

I couldn't recommend this book more. For those who are seeking the path to spiritual enlightenment, this book would be a great place to start your history lessons. For those who have already attained spiritual enlightenment, this body of work is an invaluable reference and absolutely deserves a place in your library.

Spread the word.

Perceiving the actual,

--James

(Hide Review...)  WARNING!! SUNS OF GOD BY ACHARYA WILL LOWER YOUR IQ!
Reviewer Permalink
This woman hates Christianity more than dogs hate cats. She acts like she wants to kill God and dance on His remains in hobnailed boots. She's not going to do it with "Suns of God", a dud of a book that only reiterates a hundred arguments refuted long ago.

Acharya's thesis--that Christianity copied much of its dogmas from pagan religions--was very popular about 150 years ago. Then the biblical scholars started investigating. Surprise! The evidence proved that Christianity had a huge impact on paganism; there was no influence the other way. Typical was Mithraism, a small cult in Iran until, after 100 AD, it stole a number of Christian beliefs and became a favorite with Roman soldiers.

All of this is old hat. There are simply thousands of scholarly books on this subject. Why the heck didn't Acharya read even one of them?

To give you an idea of just how utterly refuted Acharya's sources are, consider Cassels, her main source. Here is how Stephen Neill, in his "The Interpretation of the New Testament, 1861-1986" puts it: "A writer of very small distinction named J. A. Cassels in 1874 published anonymously a book under the title 'Supernatural Religion'" (P 36). No scholar thought Cassels' work worth noticing. Then Cassels made a blunder, by being rude to a friend of J. B. Lightfoot.

Lightfoot was the greatest biblical scholar of his day. It was like drawing the attention of some vast and mightly eagle to a mouse. Lightfoot promptly wrote "Essays on the Work Entitled Supernatural Religion". You can still find this book in libraries, and it's a masterpiece of logic. Lightfoot had "no difficulty in tearing to shreds...Cassels...The effect was immediate and deadly" (Neill, P 37). Simply put, no biblical scholar quotes from "Supernatural Religion" except to laugh at it. It is a "book which is so pernamently and justly dead it is hardly even of historical interest today" (Neill, P 37).

Yet this is the book Acharya bases much of her theory on, a book she refers to as "startlingly profound" (P 411). She insists that "outdated scholarship...is actually superior" (P 9). Not when the ones you use--Cassels, Drew, and the CMU--have been proven to be as full of holes as a doughnut shop.

Acharya's ignorance is so vast that any high school graduate could pick out errors. Loved this one: "It would be impossible to date the appearance of the gospels...since the...originals were destroyed long ago, an act that would appear to be the epitome of blasphemy, were these texts truly the precious testimonials by the Lord's very disciples themselves" (P 408). Oh, right, like we have vast numbers of other ancient manuscripts, because papyrus never rots.

And this howler: "So fervent was the outcry against the Christian fable...that...a term was coined for the unbelievers within Christianity itself:'Docetists'" (P 373). If only she'd picked up a general lhistory book she'd know Docetists believed in the historical Christ. They just thought God too holy to take on a physical body, so Christ's body was a projection. And this from the same page: "The early Christian gnostics were essentially Docetists". Not!

You can't find a page in "Suns of God" without errors of this magnitude. Actually, on that level, Acharya is entertaining.

Anyone interested in the question of whether or not Christianity borrowed from pagan thought should read Ronald Nash's "The Gospel and the Greeks," which is the standard text on the subject. If Acharya's looney ravings about Mandaeans have interested you in that subject, try C. H. Dodd's "The Fourth Gospel", which points out that there are no Mandaean works before 700 AD. For gnosticism: "Pre-Christian Gnosticism" by the leading scholar on the subject, Edwin Yamauchi. For general background on early Chrsitian beliefs, anything by N. T. Wright, but especially his "The New Testament and the People of God"..
'

And Acharya--get thee to a library. PLEASE.

An excellent companion volume is JEHOVAH UNMASKED which has been endorsed by Acharya S herself! "Rev. Merritt illustrates a powerful personal journey that many people can relate to but may not yet have made themselves. Like our individualized personalities, our conclusions to cosmic conundrums may be different. Nevertheless, JEHOVAH UNMASKED represents another nail in the biblical coffin that contains a mummified and rotten god belonging to the violent barbarians and troglodytes of the Stone Age." From Acharya S, Archaeologist, Historian, Mythologist, Linguist, Member of The American School of Classical Studies at Athens Greece, Fellow of The Committee for the Scientific Examination of Religion.

JEHOVAH UNMASKED is a fascinating five-star Gnostic look at the identity of the god Jehovah. Is Jehovah the real Almighty God or just a pretender? Is God an insane murdering lunatic as the Old Testament says, or is that just a pretender god? Did the first Christians believe in God the Mother? What and where is the Kingdom of God? Who told the First Lie in the Garden of Eden, Jehovah or the Serpent? Are you SURE? Who or what was it that gave us the list of New Testament books as we have them now? The answers to these questions will shock you.

Suns Of God: Krishna Buddha And Christ Unveiled is the sequel to the archaeologist, historian, mythologist and linguist Acharya S.'s controversial expose "The Christ Conspiracy", which walks the reader through a revealing and sobering exploration of the origin and meaning of the world's religions and most popular deities. Contesting that the remarkably similar stories of Christ, Krishna and Buddha - each portrayed as a redeemer who surpasses challenges, teaches morality and performs miracles - has its roots in a global phenomenon that has permeated cultures since ages before the Christian era. Explaining the god-like humans not as "historical" personages but as anthropomorphizations of the focus of "mysteries" steeped in an ancient tradition predating civilization, Suns Of God dares to hypothesize concerning the forces that shape entire cultures, and therefore history itself. A compelling alternative and iconoclastic perspective that breaks away from traditional theology to contemplate an alternative view of humankind's religious and spiritual development.

One would think the author of a poorly researched, error-riddled book would learn from her mistakes before writing a second.

Nuh-uh. . .

First, Krishna wasn't a solar deity. The Hindu sun god was Surya.

Second, Buddha was a genuinely historical person who never claimed any divinity at all. He may or may not have found enlightenment, but he certainly had a deep impact on philosophy from India, and many still practice his method of meditation today.

As for Jesus, read Hyam Maccoby's _The Mythmaker: Paul and the Invention of Christianity_ and find out how a first century C.E. rabbi became a deity.

Suns of God - Krishna, Buddha, and Christ Unveiled -by Acharya S.

Acharya S has out done her previous (and wonderful) work, The Christ Conspiracy many fold with this latest publication.

Beginning with a detailed history on astrotheology with numerous well substantiated quotes and footnotes, Acharya further substantiates the facts of ancient sun and star worship.

She then delves into the so-called life and history of the Hindu god sun Krishna, showing the many direct correlations between Krishna and the mythological Christian "sun of god," Jesus Christ. In this section (chapters 5 to 9) she also completely re-substantiates the work and ideas of Kersey Graves, whose book The World's 16 Crucified Saviors, which since 1875, has come under much undeserved and unfounded condemnation. Theological scholars, with this publication, are hereby forced to reconsider their blind condemnation for Graves' ideas.

In the following section, Acharya dives into the history of the mythological sun god, Buddha. Here tying the intricate thread of the story to show how the Christ Character is also the Buddha character, who is also Krishna. She provides solid, irrefutable evidence that the Buddha, Krishna, and Christ characters are one in the same. They are simple and easy to understand sun gods of the ancient sun/fertility worshiping cultures, who were adapted into the so-called "modern" dogmas.

Next Acharya shows us the facts and solid evidence against the false claims of a historical Jesus Character, easily debunking the "Jesus was a man" claim. The bogus historical "evidence" of Jesus' life, to which She proves false beyond any logical doubt, include many forged documents, such as the Testimonium Flavianum, said to be written by Josephus, and claimed by misinformed Christians as fact. Scholars have actually known since the early 1800's that documents such as this are forgeries.

Finally Archya neatly ties the ancient Masonic Mystery School themes together with all of the above to show a common, easily understood source of all the world's secret societies, religions, and mystery schools. This is done by showing the idenical themes of astrotheology throughout the ancient world. The Oldest Story Ever Told, which became today's dominant, mind conditioning dogmas.

The main drawback to this book is that it is distinctly macrocosmic; with very little microcosm coverage on the dual associations to the body and entheogenic plants. She does, however, touch on these subjects very lightly, and also recognizes the As Above, So Below theme.

Overall, a solid, 5 star work.

Christian apologists and other religious types will be unable to soundly debunk this book with any type of critical examination that employs reason and logic. See some of the deluded book reviews below for an example of the unsubstantiated attacks against this work. They're pathetic at best.

Here we have Acharya S extending her thesis that not only is Christ a myth, but so are Krishna and Buddha. In over 500 pages of illogic and false conclusions, she makes a very unconvincing case. Her main argument is that conspirators using the star worship of the ancients who personalized the stars and planets into "gods", wove a plot to ensnare all of us. Why? Power and profit. Right. It would take a multi volume set to refute all the errors in this book. I will mention a few. Are we seriously supposed to believe that conspirators went running around for hundreds if not thousands of years, making all of this up and planting evidence? She says that its incredible that Buddha, Christ and Krishna could work the miracles they did. Why? Is anything impossible to God? Isn't it true that the Hindus believe that Buddha is an avatar of God? As for the different religions who said that God couldn't have founded them all? This is the thesis of a far more logical book called the Perennial Philosophy by A. Huxley. Although I tried hard to read through Suns of God it is just too crazy. As terrible as this book is the real horror is the positive reviews of it.

(Hide Review...)  Brilliant Account Of Solar Symbolism In World Religions
Reviewer Permalink
Acharya S is a wonderful scholar who thoroughly ferrets out a picture of the truth behind the world's religions. To a large extent, this truth is the symbolic mythology of astro-theology, which predates all major existing religious belief systems. Acharya S provides extensive references and documentation of her contentions, exposing the lack of historicity for the personalities associated with major religions. One one level, Jesus, Buddha, & Krishna, as well as other deities less significant to our modern era, are personified symbols of the Sun. Reading this book along with her prior Christ Conspiracy is a double whammy that no religion defender will ever attempt to directly challenge. Free your mind from literal acceptance of religious myths and plow through the deep scholarly soil of Acharya's Suns of God! Then learn to connect with your real spiritual essence independent of mythology characters or astral spirits and thought forms who take on the mythic character roles. After all, the Sun itself has been the symbol for the masculine aspect of the Supreme Source/Creator, so we can all learn to see the spiritual "Sun" of God as part of our own essence rather than misinterpreting the astro-theological drama of the Sun, Moon, Planets, & Zodiac that is encoded in religions. I highly recommend Suns of God for its breadth of information and integration of important ideas and evidence. There is an increasing flow of revelations arising about the topic of astrotheology and the secret wisdom, symbolism, and secret society/mystery school tradition - this book is one of the best of the genre.

This a big book. Make no mistake. The materials covered are also big. Big in ideologies. Acharya S. takes apart the age old dogma's piece by piece and not only states what's erroneous, but how it came to be so mistaken. These issues, from creation to judgments did not all occur in the flash of an eye, but across countless several generations of writers seeking to establish a basis for social control. You may not like what she says in Suns, but that does not make it any less factual. Those seeking not only answers, but a basis for those answers would do well to get a copy of this book. Those, however, who have made up their minds, on either side of the fence, will find very little to dispute. Acharya S. has done her work well, and has, I believe, covered the topics exceptionally well. After reaching the last page, the reader will have covered not only the history of the son of god ideology, but the reason so many religions, that may on the surface seem dissimilar, start from the very same mythology. This is a book the serious mythologist or spiritual seeker should have at their disposal.

(Hide Review...)  Christ and Krishna--similar solar deities

This is a superb book. There are books on the mythical nature of Jesus, particularly "The Jesus Mysteries" and its sequel "Jesus and the Lost Goddess" by Timothy Freke. Freke goes in-depth into the very nature of mystery myth deity worship, whereas Acharya S tends to focus her scholarship on the nature of these solar deities: Christ, Krishna, and Buddha. Enough scholarship to have been awarded a Ph.D., though unfortunately, in the American academic world, to question the historicity of Jesus is to ask for trouble and indeed not ever attain the status of professor of religion. Hopefully things will change.
