This book aims to provide a practical and clinically useful introduction to echo - much of which is easy - for those who will be using, requesting and possibly interpreting it in the future. The book is aimed particularly at doctors in training and medical students. It is also hoped that it may be of interest to other groups - established physicians and general practitioners, cardiac technicians, nurses and paramedics. It aims to explain the echo techniques available, what an echo can and cannot give, and - importantly - put echo into a clinical perspective. It is by no means intended as a complete textbook of echo and some aspects are far beyond its scope (eg, complex congenital heart disease and pediatric echo).

Echo has a long learning journey: in fact, it is not easy at all! And this is another book that only serves to prove it. Sistematic review of cardiological pathologies, but insufficient to rule begginer's first steps into echo. Not practical nor reasonable step by step approach- describes 2-D features with the same detail that tissue doppler imaging, per example.

I bought this book for my first echo rotation, this book is easy to understand and cover many basic principles of echocardiography. This is a great book for your first 2-4 weeks of Echo learning , but the benefit of it will get much smaller as time go by.

This is a great book for beginning Echo students or someone who just wants a simple overview of Echo. But, if you are an Echo tech that wants a much more advanced reference this is not it. Doesn't go into advanced cardiac abnormalities or congential diseases.

Echo Made EasyThis book has helped me to better understand echocardiography. It explains in simple terms and it's an easy read. It is small and travels well. I take it with me and read when I have a little time to kill. I only wish I had bought it sooner.

Just as the title implies, this easy to understand paperback on echocardiology gives students and clinicians the basics to use as building blocks in understanding the more technical textbooks on the complex subject.

As everyone I started out with Jae k Oh manual of ECHo and found it painfully slow and hard to digest, one of my colleagues suggested that I buy this book and let me tell you that it is worth its money on gold, it makes things simple, rather then starting with hi-fi things this explains basics of echo and once you read and understand this book, Jae K Oh is much easier to read and understand.
I reccomend this book to all begginers who are learning ECHO. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-03 00:44:59 EST)

This thin volume is an excellent primer for a fellow who is beginning training in cardiovascular medicine. Of course, as one advances in training textbooks written by Otto & by Feigenbaum will provide more intricate details in echocardiography. This succinct book is a good point of departure for the new fellow during the beginning of the academic year. It also fits in the white coat pocket. In fact, I've just completed my first year of training and I still refer to this tome periodically.

When first learning echo, I was dismayed to not be able to find a simple, concise book that allowed me to grasp the many echo concepts that were thrown at me. No more.
This book is a must-have for beginning echocardiographers. The descriptions are concise and clear, the illustrations are excellent (a first for most echo books), and it is very logically organized. The price is very reasonable (for medical books), and it is pocketable. The author clearly knows about teaching and getting points across to learners. Kudos to him for filling this gap in the echo book market. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-07 19:03:26 EST)

This book is excellent. The beauty of this gem is the price and size, it can be carried as a pocket reference. I recommend it highly to any echocardiographer.

This is a fantastic book!!
It is certainly essential reading for anyone learning about echo - doctors, technicians, medical students etc. It covers areas relating to clinical aspects of heart disease (e.g causes of murmurs, endocarditis etc) which are practical and often missing from such books. BUT it is also excellent even for those experienced in echo for use as a refresher and reference source in pocket-size. It has 'normal values' and the figures and illustrations are very good and clear and clinically useful. It is very well written in an accessible style. It was very well reviewed in British Journal of Cardiology and with good reason. This is one of the best medical books I have ever bought and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
