My boys love their RuneScape game and had to have this book! They seem to use it and think it's great.

Bought this book for my grandson who nearly wore out the library copy. Could provide even more detail but good for new players. Not an advanced book.

Allow me to say, if you have already purchased this book then I'm sorry. The book poorly attempts to explain RuneScape and tries to teach players how to play, but the author failed to realize one thing: The game updates every week.

The rules and monsters mentioned in the book are obsolete; the pictures are no longer relevant since runescape is constantly updating the graphics; the rules are ever changing; and the book is for 9-12 year olds when the rules clearly state that the game is for 13+? The author should go back to tutorial island and learn that you should never make a guide book about a constantly changing game.

I'd only recommend this book if it's on the shelf of your supermarket checkout line and you need something to read; of course don't actually buy the book.

First of all, let me state that:
a) I am an avid RuneScape player, and have played for over 4 years
b) I do not actually own this book.

I am writing this in order to register my concern that the age group for this "official handbook" is 9-12, when, *according to the RuneScape terms and conditions*, you have to be 13 to play. I can't comment on the book itself, but I just wanted to point out the double standard JaGEx seems to hold to. As far as I can tell, they don't really care how old you are, but if you are under 13 and give away your identity or something they can just point to that to avoid a costly lawsuit. It doesn't make any sense to me...

A very good introductory guide to the game for new players. As well it contains a lot of tips to those who are still acquiring new skills, and haven't completed all the quests.

While experienced players may not find much in this guide that they do not know, it is an attractive book which fans of the game would appreciate. Being able to hold and look at the maps on paper alone will prove an attractive enough feature for some players.

There are still parts of this guide which may prove entertaining reading, and the locations and map might still prove use at times, even to the most accomplished players.

I gave the guide as a gift to my nieces and nephews; and for them I think the clearly laid-out sections on Online Safety Guide, the Rules of RuneScape and Basic tips for beginners are written in language they can understand. Given the importance of Online Safety and the necessity of acting as responsible player as part of a much wider community those sections are crucial to anyone fresh off Tutorial Island.

As a gift it makes and excellent way to pass on the love of the game which avid RuneScape players may wish to give to new players.

i learned about this game from my nephews and thought i would give it a try. what a game! this book helps with the basics which i needed. for some reason i am too stubborn to read the manual on the website. this book was helpful to get me started.

Even though I knew most of the stuff in it,this guide was very useful,like having all the maps at hand,and having all the lvl guides.A great book and they need to have a member version.lol

This gives good coverage of Runescape - free side only. (The members side has lots of features not covered in this book. There seems to be no printed book covering that, altho there are many fan web sites.) The maps are the best part of the book for me; I get tired of using the online map where you have a little "window" into the whole map.

Great book and all, but it didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know. I've been playing this game for almost three years. But I still enjoyed reading it. And if you are a beginner then you really need this as it gives helpful tips for the free version of the game. Also, to the guy above claiming he is the assisstant manager of Runescape, that is the biggest lie I have ever heard.

This book is mostly for those new to the system. I got it 2 years into the game, and though it had some great tips, It taught you things like "how to chop wood.", which, no offense, doesn't take an immense amount of brain power to figure out. Mostly things that you could find out for yourself or through the tutorial. I recommend buying this book for newbies, but If you've been playing for a long time, it would be a good idea to get it cheap or at a library. On the other hand, the map and poster are pretty helpful.

This is a great book for new players, older of more experienced players will already know much of this info but it is fun to have an official copy anyway! rich669! skill total 2015

This Book is a waste of money. All the information could be found on the internet. The book only help you on easy areas. So I recommend you to go on to google and type Runescape.I promise that you can find useful cheats and 70% of the information you need there. RuneScape is actually a fairly complicated game. Young people love to play it and there is actually a lot to learn to fully enjoy it. This book introduces and explains the basics, the various characters and some elements of strategy. It is targeted toward young readers between 9-12 years old and judging by the way I see these kids carrying the book around and the enthusiasm they have for it, it's a hit. When I look through it, I notice that there are a lot of good illustrations and the material is visually well presented. There is also enough text to make it worthwhile, but not overwhelming. This is a nice introduction and reference, if you play RuneScape yourself or you have a son or daughter who does, they will probably love this book.

This book is essential for advancing through the various levels of the game. It may be a bit too simplistic for older teenagers. However, it's a nice fast track to get more competitive in a short time.
