I see both sides of the issues regarding this book. I enjoyed it and would recommend it because I enjoy the series but also agree that it's transitional and not a lot of substance happens until the end (could easily have been split between books 2 and 4). I agree that a book should be able to stand alone (since you pay for it as a stand alone) as well as advancing the series storyline. I don't think this book succeeded there. I also hated the ending but agree it's the writer's perogative - but she could have been sensitive to leaving the readers here for another year. Lastly, I too am disappointed in the lack of substantive romance and the few pages with JBB. Lastly, it's all well and good for KMM to say it's not a romance but it's tagged as romance and sold in the romance sections of the bookstores as well as online!! And it ties in to the Highlander romance series. IMHO you can't have it both ways! If she didn't want this to be paranormal romance she could written it without Highlander tie ins under another name to avoid confusing the existing loyal fans.

'Bloodfever' and 'Darkfever' were excellent reads, introducing us to bubbly Georgian MacKayla Lane who, when investigating her sister's death in Dublin, Ireland, finds herself thrust into the middle of a whole new world. Mac has a special talent, she's a Sidhe-seer (one who can see the Sidhe); however she is more powerful that most sidhe-seers as she can also detect special fae objects and more. She's found herself working alongside the enigmatic Jericho Barrens, as well as trying to avoid the impossibly sexy fae Prince V'Lane, as she searches for a special dark Book, one that she can sense and one that Barrons wants.
'Faefever' starts where the previous story left off, with a quick summary of previous events for the new reader. However there's an awful lot of history and terminology in the previous books and I doubt that a new reader to this one would be able to work out what's going on. The book then continues but I found, after finishing it, that not a lot really happened. There were some interesting scenes between Barrons and Mac and V'Lane and Mac; there are some further developments with regard to the baddies, Barrons' and V'Lane's powers; but until the last chapter nothing overly significant to the plot occurred. The last chapter was very exciting with a new direction to the plot but all the content of the book prior to that felt rather transitional and not particularly necessary. Karen Marie Moning's writing style is very good. She has a real way with words, her prose is well crafted and the interactions between Mac and the various other characters are good fun. However the fairly dark tone of this book, and its lack of significant plot development before the very end, meant that it was less enjoyable a read. It also ends on a real cliffhanger after a rather upsetting scene and so once again feels very transitional. Some readers may mistakenly think that this series is paranormal romance; it isn't, the romance element is minimal, but the plot and characterisation are very good. However for this reader 'Faefever' was a disappointment and I hope that the next book wraps up some of the plot threads and is less dark in tone. I actually started reading Moning because of the Fever series. It was recommended by some people who were blown away by this book so I figured I'd give it a try. I liked Darkfever, but I think the books have gotten better with each one.
I can understand people being frustrated with the cliffhanger ending. It's certainly not happy. And I recommend that anyone who can't stand a gut-punching cliffie wait until all the books have been written to start the series. But I did think this was the best one of the series so far. I suppose we reran a few things from the first two books, but I disagree that this was a retread. A series arc necessitates a little bit of reminding, and I thought she did well with adding a little bit of new info every time. I agree with many that this is not a romance series. It probably shouldn't be categorized as such, but that's really to be taken up with the bookstores and publisher. I don't care much about the romance template (although I am interested in romantic developments down the road) so the fact there's no HEA in each book is not a problem for me. But if you're a person who much prefers the traditional romance story line with an HEA at the end, this series is probably not for you. I recommend this series to people who like PN fiction. Don't expect the same experience you've had with the Highlander series, which is very much in the romance formula. I wish the wait weren't so long for the next one, but I came into this knowing it was an incomplete series with a cliffhanger so if I were to be angry about it, I'd be angry at myself. Otherwise, good luck to Ms. Moning in her writing endeavors. :) (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-11 09:08:33 EST)

I was so eager for this book and it is a total disappointment. It is not even worth a one star rating.
The author spends three quarter of the book retelling the plot lines of the last 2 books. I thought it would get better, no so. The cliffhanger ending left me speechless. What the heck?!? I refuse to spend any more of my time and money when it is obvious they are just out to make a quick buck. SHAME, SHAME, Ms. Moning, you are cheating your readers. I am taking you off my "must-read" list. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-11 09:08:33 EST)

I really enjoyed the first books that Karen wrote. In fact I enjoyed them so much I shared them with friends and with my mother. But I find myself a little uncomfortable sharing this series. Okay, So the first two were okay, I enjoy the story line and the mythical creatures, but really wish we could get on with the romance and stop dragging it out so much. It is seriously torture to keep being left with these cliffhangers. Why not just write one big book and put it out all at once and spare the readers the drag out.
Finally though I have to say I have a major problem with this series, and that is the seeming romanticizing of rape. It's not cool, it's not sexy and it's never acceptable. So the sex has been edgier here and there and I was saying well okay in the first two books with the edgier sex implications it was a little harsh but not so bad. But I am sickened [Spoiler] that this series ended with a gang bang. It was upsetting and unsettling, I didn't enjoy reading it. Even if you want to argue that its part of the story line and it will change...blah, blah, blah and it won't be treated as acceptable. Did the book really have to end that way? Yeah, that's what I wanted to fall asleep with on my mind. So while I had held out hope that things would get better as the story progressed. The last rape scene has me totally turned off and I think I'm done with this story line. It wasn't sexy, it wasn't sex, it was rape. I'm just not cool with that in my stories. I was excited to read this book after Bloodfever. After seeing the book at the end of the last story, Mac has figured out how it is getting around and has an idea on how to track it but the murders that it is causing. She uses the detective that is following her around to find it. She feeds him fae flesh. Unfortunately it works too well, he starts to be addicted to it.
Now everyone starts trying to get Mac's attention to focus only on them and the book. She starts playing each person in her own way. But then learns that the border between Seelie and us is about to fall. So, she is also trying to work out deals between people to try to strengthen it. I have to say that I hated how this book ended. It's not the typical happy ending, but I almost have no desire to continue reading. There seems to be no more point. I'm sure that it will work out on it's own, but really. Disappointed!!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-08 07:45:57 EST)

Faefever was great, you just want to read more and more. Of course the ending was a twist, but hey she can't always not commit.
Sometimes you have to go there to be able to succeed in the end. Can't wait for the next series. Come on KMM write faster, faster. . . (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-08 07:45:57 EST)

I really loved this book, and read it in two days. I do not understand why the average review is only four stars from most people. Even though there were only four stars, I decided to read it and rate it my self.
I'm glad I did. The book was awesome. I stayed up late reading it last night and this afternoon, and without giving away too much, I believe the author chose this book to let us more into Mac's anger, her rage, her tears, and yes her eroticism(especially where it concerns V'Lane and Jericho Barrons). Some people may not have great reviews of it because it lacked actual sex, or it was much action- well, what I have to say to that is, Moning stuck to the story. The adventure/quest is still on and I am loving the tension even more between Mac and Barrons. V'Lane may be fae but I am liking him too. Basically to all those readers out there, you must embrace the beauty of the words in these books. Moning has a gift with words and she knows how to weave them so well. I definitely can't wait until Dreamfever. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-08 07:45:57 EST)

I waited for Faefever for ages as I have been a big fan of Moning for years. I sat down and read the book straight through without any breaks. Unfortunately, this book is just depressing and I hated the ending. If book four doesn't have something better, I know I'll skip book five. So - what was wrong? The series is rather dark and depressing. However, that is not necessarily a negative in itself. In Faefever, however, there is actually a lose of hope - and that is the clincher, I believe. When I finished the book, my first thought was to skip the rest of the series. However, after reading the authors web page and blogs, I have decided to wait until after book four to judge the series. If you haven't read books I and II, then whatever you do, don't start with this book. If you have read books I and II, you may want to skip this book. Sorry, Ms. Moning, this book is just too depressing.

So much satisfying foreshadowing. I never used to have any interest in the Fae (especially burned on the Merry Gentry series by LK Hamilton), but I was stranded with nothing to read during Hurricane Ike and became hooked on the series.I have also gone to her Highlander series and found clues about the world Mackayla Lane lives in. It has a fresh feel and humor to it.
(I love that I am posting this on Halloween, too.) I love the slightly bewildered but dedicated and morally upright heroine, full of foilables and humanity. She is a bit of a cross between Sookie Stackhouse and Stephanie Plum, but very much a unique character. The format of recording a diary is not cheesy or distracting, as it could be in lesser hands. The series also brings out the hottest, most unconventional hero to life. I walk around looking for opportunities to utter "Well played" in conversation. The mysterious rules and politics of the Fae World keep a reader guessing, but not in dire frustration. Although, it does seem like a very long time until the next installment hits the shelves. The author is prone to devastating, cliffhanger endings, but the wait does seem worth it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-03 07:44:40 EST)

I was very disappointed with this book.
I enjoyed the first two books. I even gave them to my "fantasy book" loving son to read. Now I just have to explain to my 14 year old why I don't want him to read this one. I'm not ready for his questions. He'll ask about violence towards woman and I'll say, "Yea, son, all women who are gang raped have multiple orgasims during the ordeal". Now I guess we get to watch Mac turn bad in Book 4 and good again in Book 5. How many years will that all take? Besides George Lucas did that with Darth Vader already... I really enjoyed Mac's story in the first 2 books. I have to say I am a little disapointed in number 3. Too much time is spent going over things that occured in the first 2 books. This book also seems to lack focus and the story seems to be for better lack of words "dragged out". It also lacks substance. As a reader you feel frustrated because nothing really happens in this book and yet you have to wait again for yet another book. I really liked the start of this series and want to see how it ends but frustrated about the books in between that don't seem to go anywhere, feel like this book was just filler.

The third of Moning's Fever series was a grab you by your throat read that did not lessen it's hold until the last page. Fae Fever is a continuation, a deepening of Mac's story. We are still left with more questions than answers after that ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE ending. I can't wait for book 4.
I liked several things about this book. Mac's tentative alliance with Dani and several of the sidhe-seers. The developement of her 'relationship' with Christian MacKeltar and her inventive working relationship with Inspector Jayne. Plus there's V'lane and Barrons, her struggle with her addiction not to eat fae flesh and to basically stay alive. I don't know what it is about these books, but when I start reading them I just can't stop. A must read! 5 stars!!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-30 07:49:37 EST)

I was very frustrated again with this 3rd installment. I have been fristrated with the entire Fever series to be truthful There is none of the engaging romance from Ms. Moning's earlier books. I loved the Highlander series and was disappointed when I got the 1st book of this series and learned she had decide to start a new series, rather than continue writing about her wonderful Kelter Druids. I keep hoping this series will get better, but it just hasn't. The main character is a total ditz--she behaves like a fifteen years old and has about as much common sense. She is just not likable, there is no chemistry between the characters and the plot just isn't going anywhere. And what is with the rape scene???? I think Ms Moning needs to end this series and go back to Paranormal romance.....

Having been a KMM fan for years, I cannot believe the direction she has taken with this series. This latest installment was the worst of the three and having read the first two, I loaned this one from the library just in case it was as disappointing as the others. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on this one!
From the beginning of this series it has seemed like a Buffy the Vampire Slayer ripoff only Mac doesn't get any more skills - she just eats unseelie flesh to get strength. There really is no plot, just a very long series of incidents that supposedly all have meaning. Another very troubling aspect is the McKelter references - is there really a need for them in this book or is she just stumping for readership of her earlier (and much better!) books? KMM then ends this travesty with a very disturbing and overlong gang bang against the heroine. I'm not sure but maybe she was just trying to get a sex scene in the book and this is all she could come up with? Needless to say, I won't be wasting my time with the rest of this series -even as a loan from the library. My time is worth much more and would be better spent elsewhere. This is the third installment of the Fever series. It was as good as the first two, maybe even better. I still want to know exactly who or what Jerico Barons is. I just wish they came closer together I have to re-read part of the prior books to remember exactly where whose is who.

Have you ever done a Sudoku puzzle that was so hard you could place maybe 5 numbers? Well, that's what I feel like with this book/series. It's a big hard puzzle with no answer in the back, you know, to give you just a little help. While I like to sit back and enjoy a story, I still like the adventure of Mac and this journey that KMM has taken her on. However, my advice to anyone that has not started the series would be not to bother reading the series until all books are out. It looks like Dreamfever won't be out until August of 2009, that's a long time. Some reviewers are pissed off at how the story ended. I am not happy about it, but it's the writer telling the story. Did she want our hearts to drop while reading THAT? I think so, and mine did. I hope more info gets pumped into the next book, I like the characters, I like the story, but sometimes puzzles are too much and you have to set them aside for another day. That day may be when all books are available. I probably won't do that, because I know myself, but I am a bit frustrated.

Great installment - but FF ends abruptly and prematurely -leaving readers with a very dark cliffhanger and no conclusion. NOT a book in itself. I'll wait for the next ones because I'm hooked on the characters - but wish I'd waited till they were all completed before I started.

I can hardly wait for the next installment of this series. Will life as we know it end? Will it morph and twist into some dark, monster-ridden reality?
This book is dark and, wow, does Barrons take it over the top. I like the character of Mac, but Barrons is the one I'm most intrigued by. That fascination only increased with the reading of this book. I do not expect a romance between these characters. In fact, if you're looking for romance, you should look elsewhere. This author does have quite a few excellent romance novels out there. This series is purely urban fantasy and one of my favs by far. I will agree with some other reviewers who say that there is a little that actually happens in this book...until the end. The end is a shocker. However I will add that there was significant character development where Mac and Barrons are concerned. The plot also thickens where the sidhe-seers are concerned. Therefore I wouldn't recommend skipping this book in the series. I also wouldn't recommend waiting until all the books in the series are out to read them. Well, I guess I'd recommend it if you have a lot of patience and self-control. I certainly don't have enough for that. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-21 01:34:17 EST)

An exciting continuation of the Fever series; Moning does an excellent job of maintaining a charming humorous voice while keeping up a high tension thrill ride. The end will keep you wanting more (which is what any piece of good fiction should do). One of the best urban fantasies out there (not to be confused with romance), and my personal favorite!!

Geez, a whole year between such small books! The first two most certainly delivered the goods with action and suspense. This one...not so much. The beginning dragged unmercifully since the author spent about 60-70 pages just explaining what came before. Who all the characters were, what they were doing, etc. By the time she got past this, I was becoming aggravated. I can appreciate a few heads up, but don't retell the whole darn story to me. The rest of the story consisted of her researching information on the history of the Tiantha de. Snore!
On the bright side we got to read about a jealous Barron and a more human V'Lane (or least he was trying to pass himself off as more human). More guys fawned at Mac and called her beautiful. Yea, whatever! We get it...now move on. Overall, it was a disappointment, especially since the previous two were great. I'm still looking forward to the next, especially since Moning went and did the unthinkable and left this one as a cliffhanger. (Not Cool, Moning--I've left previous series for much the same reason). Hopefully, this will not be a reoccurring problem. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-21 01:34:17 EST)

Great series, but I wish it was done in the "Highlander" series way where each story ended with each book. Now I have to wait for Book 4!!! I guess I'll just reread the past three books again waiting for the fourth.
Thanks, Karen, for the wonderful entertainment in a very dark real world. Love the characters. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-17 09:37:27 EST)

Okay I read all three books in the series over this past week (which isn't saying much because the first two books were VERY short). I have to say I really enjoyed the books especially Faefever which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. All three books are in first person which takes some time to get use to but I really think this enables us to get into Mac's head. Like a lot of the other reviewers I agree not much happens in the books, Moning focuses more on developing the character and less on plot. I like that we get to know Mac so well but at the same time ther were many moments I kind of felt like I was wasting my time on a book where nothing was happening. I noticed on Moning's website she plans on writing two other books in the series, I hope she stops at that. I have a feeling that if this becomes an ongoing series she'll keeping on stringing us along with more books in which not much happens. The end did also piss me off like a lot of otherse. I do think it was really cruel to leave us wanting more.
Now the good stuff. This is not your typical book. Too many times in romance novels or any book in general where the female is the heroine, I get disappointed because I feel that the writer chooses to not let anything bad happen and this always inevitably pisses me off. It's hard to truly invest yourself in a book if you know everything will turn out rosy. In this book bad things happen people die. There are some truly gritty moments in the book, that remind us of the reality of Mac's life. She lives in a dangerous world now. Yet she still remains a strong, likeable, spunky, smart heroine. I love the dynamic between Mac and Barrons, I can't wait to see where this is going to go. I'm happy that Moning doesn't go out of her way to soften his edges. It makes the little things he does like getting breakfast for Mac, all the greater. I look forward to the next two books and hope we don't have to wait too long! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-17 09:37:27 EST)

I really liked Faefever and read it in one night. I still think it is a romance with several men being possibilities (although I continue to hope that the winner will be Barrons--can't get enough of him). Some readers said he was absent through most of the book, I did not find that to be true. No, he was not with Mac all the time but when he was with her the moments were intense. I did not mind the 'rape' ending (no, it's not graphic, just explained in a different way) just because I can't wait to see how V'lane and/or Barrons deal with it. Barrons seems to be pretty possessive of Mac and I also want to see how Mac comes out of it mentally. I do wish the 4th book was already out because I am anxious to continue the story.

The Author really needs to provide and ending to this character and start a new one. Story line is getting old. I Want Closure!

I was so excited to hear book three in this series was out as I've been anxious for a bit more of the puzzle to be revealed. I guess should have been more careful in what I wished before because a small bit is all we got.
The book is far too short for the hard cover asking price it comes with to begin with. Then, what is there, aside from two or three pivotal scenes doesn't do much to further the plot. I would call this a glorified short story but even those have some sort of arc with a beginning, a middle and an end. The book can't stand alone and the ending, or should I say the point at which the writer apparently said "I'm tired of writing today. We'll take this up later when you give me some more money" was beyond frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I understand this is a continuing story so I didn't expect a "happily ever after" ending but even in serials you need to have some sort of clean up at the closing of an arc before you can move on. You don't even have to resolve the major conflicts but at least acknowledge to the reader that there is more to come. The book left me feeling like I'd been with a cheap hooker who jumped out of bed and left before the last wave of the ride had even left my body. I would definitely recommend waiting for this to come out in paperback, preferably when the next book is out too so you can at least get a little morning after cuddle. Normally a BIG fan of this author but, this 3rd book in the fae series was a waste of time and money. No real point to it. Not much happens, there are no resolutions. Very unsatisfying. The info on the fae world and it's characters could have been provided in a few chapters of a book with real action. Ms. Moning should have made the series a trilogy instead of using 5 books to tell the story. This book was just filler to sell more books.

I wish I'd known before I'd started reading this series that each book was going to pretty much leave you hanging. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed each and would probably have given this 4 stars had I been able to read the next book right away. Knowing that it's going to be a while before that happens coupled with the fact that, no matter how hard you try to remember all the details from the earlier books, but can't, just leaves me wishing I'd waited until they were all out there.
As anxious as I was to read this, when I read the last sentence and knew I'd have to wait what...a year?...to continue only made me disgusted with the whole thing. A warning at the start would have been nice. I'm sure I'll pick up future writings by Karen Marie Moning, she's an excellent writer, I just hope she'll at least end the books and not leave us hanging. Don't get me wrong... I love this series! So much so that I wait with abated breath till the next installment comes out, and this book was great. I liked it all the way up until the end. That ending was horrible, I almost cried because I knew I'd have to wait another year to find out what happens to Mac! I hate cliffhangers and this was the worst! At least with a TV show you know you only have to wait a week!

I first became interested in the author from her time-travel romances featuring the MacKelter clan. They were light, fun, and funny. When the Fever set came along I was very interested in the concept - 6 intertwined stories about a few months in time for one woman and her progression toward self-discovery. The first 2 were great reads with just enough humor and sensuality to keep you interested by playing the "who will Mac end up with" game. I was eager to get this latest installment as it had been some time since the last. I didn't have the recall issues mentioned in other reviews - however if, as the author sets out, this is a story already written the wait was too long.
That being said, I think I really could have waited for this one or even done without. As mentioned the story was short on anything but getting some more loose ends out there and possibly making us more sympathetic to the male characters who make Mac crazy on a daily basis. The one high light was of course the MacHalo which was just priceless to visualize. But all of the fun and merit was stripped away in the closing paragraphs of the book. The phycologically brutal scene was hard to read as a women who, through reading the previous books, knows only too well what is happening. This is made worse by the cliffhanger ending. I finished it three days ago and I still have a lingering bad taste in my mouth from it. In fact, I am considering not finishing the saga simply because there is no hope left for the reader that Mac will pull through this - other than her narration of the story as past events - and if she does pull through it won't be without the vehical of mental and physical abuse of the most heinous and deplorable nature - a read I don't really need for such a fluffly book in all other respects. This series is a gourmet meal, in my opinion. It's still cooking and this book was part of the preparation. So far the meal is tasty even if there wasn't much meat during this course.
Moning is building a foundation and revealing bit by bit her overall plan for this series. I really enjoyed this part of it. I love seeing how Mac is developing, becoming a bit darker, with every installment. I also love seeing where Barrons is going. He's such a delicious mystery. The world the author has built is intricate and fascinating. Overall, I really liked this book and don't think it could be skipped in the reading of the series. Anxiously awaiting the next novel. I was hoping that this one would be more like the second. I was disappointed that it didn't have more dialog with the characters and action,,,,, I would have liked to have more action. I'll continue with this series, I hope it picks up.

I recently finished reading Faefever and decided to see what others
where saying about the series. As I read, I realised that a lot of the people reading this were probably those who had been pulled in by KMM's romance titles. Although there are SOME romance archetypes here, this is really dark modern urban fantasy. As such, it is a wonderfully written totally engaging world with a plucky heroine in her darkest hour. Saying that, I do realize how those who come at it from a different angle could be frustrated. As a reader of many genres (romance, fantasy, mystery, horror)I think 5 books in 5 years is pretty reasonable Just try reading Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time, fantasy) - 11 books, one more to come. He published the first in '90, he passed away recently and the last book is being completed by a different author, to be published late next year. My point being, have patience. What you think of as a place holder with an unbearable cliff hanger ending is totally essential to the story. In this time of "fast food everything" realise that just as your life was years in the making with dramatic ups and totally essential but quite downs, so is Macs. :0) (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-17 04:10:53 EST)

I love a good series because I know there's more to come. I read about Dark Hunters, Blood Brotherhoods,Vampires named Betsy, and anything else that is different and interesting. I'd read reviews about Moning's new series and decided to wait until I could get the first 3 all at once. They are really good! The books are well written with characters that ring true but I agree with the frustration of many other readers, release the books a month or two apart. Don't make us wait too long to find out what happens to Mac and her world. There is a fine line between anticipation and disappointment, but I know most of us will hang in there!

I feel like I am mourning the passing of a good friend. My travelling roommate turned me on to Moning about 3 years ago. I fell in love and read all the books that she had written. I anxiously awaited each new novel and was more impressed and drawn in to her stories and the ever expanding plot line that moved from book to book. It seemed to be building to this series. I loved Darkfever. I ended Bloodfever with the anticipation of a great climax in Faefever. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I recently heard that the series will be 5 books long. BIG MISTAKE. From the run of the story from the first to second book, the story line was obviously meant to be concluded in the third. All the building to a Mac/Barrons and MacKelter saving the world just barely and Mac and ??? finally having mind blowing sex - I feel like I was left without an literary orgasm. The minute there was the hint of the until-next-year-when-we-can-try-again, I knew it was downhill from there. Karen - you should have kept to your original 3 book series then spun off another series from some little thing left dangling at the end. After each and every book, I couldn't wait to get on to the next one, mentally noting the information I might need from one book to the next. Especially when we got to the Kiss, Dark, Immortal and Spell, where your talent of serial writting without making the books only readible only in order was exceptional. I am sorry to say that I will be waiting until I read many reviews about the next instalment instead of pre-ordering as I have done in the past.

I cannot believe that I waited for this book to come out. It told me nothing new and is what I call an in-between book. I hate in-between books. Nothing happened in this book until the last two chapters and then it just leaves you hanging. I was so frustrated with the dynamics between Mac and Barrons as well. He keeps attacking her and she thinks it's okay because the next day he say's sorry with a "gift." It's a classic case of battered wife's syndrome as far as I'm concerned. I was really hoping for something more from this book and unfortunately, I didn't get it. If I read the next one it will be from the Library, I'm not wasting my money.

It would seem that she submitted the entire series to her publishers up front & they decided to divide the book into 5 parts to make some money. Well the first 2 were great, I love Mac & Barrons, but this book was a joke. Yes, you find a lot of info out which seems to be why this book was done, it was an encyclopedia of info, but no action or intrigue. As for what happens to Mac in the end ---your just left hanging like an idiot. It was a short & fast read & now they will make you wait another long year before the next one comes. Don't waist your time, wait until the entire series is out before reading anymore. I have decided not to read anymore until she ends the series.

Faefever by Karen Marie Moning
Hardcover Release date September 16, 2008 5 Stars Faefever is the third in the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. This book/series is as near perfect as a book/series can be. If this is your first introduction to the series, stop here, go to your nearest bookstore to purchase this AND the two previous books. While you're there, get her Highlander series as well. You can thank me later. Now let me give you a recap of what has taken place in this series so far: death and revenge. But let me not get ahead of myself. In the beginning, (Darkfever, Book 1), we are introduced to MacKayla Lane. She is a young girl who leads a very carefree life of lounging by the pool listening to music and working on her tan. Suddenly, her life is turned upside down when news arrives that her sister is killed while studying in Ireland. The plot further thickens when she discovers a message left by her sister on her cell phone. The message is mysterious and gives little details, but enough to make her pack her things and go to Ireland to help search for her killer. Now, if this book was just a mystery novel, it would work well. Searching for the bad guys would be a predictable trail to follow, but that's hardly the case here. She finds that she and her sister share a trait as sidhe-seer - a human that can see the Fae or Fairy. When Mac arrives in Ireland, she learns that her sister was possessed and trapped in a mysterious world. Mac not only has to deal with searching for her sister's killer, but she does so while entering a dream-like world of fantasy & mystery with characters to match. Her role in this new world transforms her into a walking weapon. In book two, (Bloodfever Book 2) we learn about this new world. We continue to see her transformation from a carefree girl, to a woman carrying the responsibility of defending others while keeping her loyalty to the memory of her sister and finding her killer. In Faefever, Mac is now a changed person. She struggles with the responsibility of saving the world. Her growth into a heroine is well traveled and believable. She is both strong in her conviction to save others, but also vulnerable to the knowledge that if she fails, all will be lost. The cliffhangers in the end of each book are maddening. The story is riveting. The characters are well rounded with intriguing personalities. There are many questions that are answer slowly, but they don't slow down the story. Moning tells a good story and builds characters that are both likable and believable. She exquisitely merges story telling, exciting characters, beautiful settings and enough twists and turns to demand more and more. This books was HUGELY Disappointing, and a waste of copy and paper, not to mention buying it at full price. Basically it didn't do anything but shuffle for the next book, without really delivering anything. Read the last 4 pages, which is where all the action is, and you understand a huge waste of tree sacrifice. I have not been so disappointed since Vonnegut started writing junk, which I as well, quit buying. I will possibly read the next book not when first launched, not at anywhere near full price. Definitely #5 which probably should have been 3. Just not at full price, not until bargin days. That ship has sailed.
