That's Not My Puppy: Its Coat Is Too Hairy is short and sweet on length, but wonderfully entertaining with textures. This is a great, sturdy board book that very little readers will enjoy multiple times.

And, when you've explored all you want about the dogs, you can always discuss that cute little mouse who seems to appear on every single page!

This is another winner in this board book series, written by the "touchy-feely" team of Watt, Fiona, and Usborne. It's essentially a monologue by an unseen narrator (perhaps a young toddler like the book's audience),who notes why various breeds of dogs are NOT his or her own.

The illustarions are bright primary colors, against similar but contrasting backgrounds. Embedded within the triple-thick board book pages is some texture-rich material described in the book. These attributes enable the narrator to label and categorize the various dogs, and to deduce that the pictured dog is NOT "my puppy."

Ultimately, after you and your young charge touch the materials, enjoy the bright volotd and varying breeds, and delight in the repetitive; "that's not my puppy," refrain, the tenacious reader/listener will celebrate the ultimate discovery of the beloved dog. A nice little vocabulary buikder and an all-around suinpke but fun boatd book that imaginative adults can enahnce with a nicely dramatic reading.

This book is cute. It has a different texture on each page. I would recommend using it for read-alouds for awhile. Young children may eat or tear off the "feely" parts.

This is great as far as touchy feely books go. There are a variety of textures for baby to explore. But it is very short with a total of five page of text. And the text itself is fine but not very rich.

I really like the "thats not my.." series. All the books are colorful, quick and cute. We also own "thats not my dragon" which I think my son (17 months) likes better than this one but all the books in this series are cute and I would recommend any of them!

this is a very good keep busy book for our 18 month old and when we read it together we do the touchy feely of the different surfaces and look for the mouse...

Our 6 month old loves this book already. She can enjoy the story which is necessarily short and is already reaching for the touchy feely parts on each page. We love reading it to her and seeing her eyes light up when we bring out this book each evening.

short and sweet, my 9-month-old baby loves this book. she has a couple of favorite pages, but we often look at this book. we also have That's Not My Train, which she also enjoys. I think we need to get more! a really great book!

We started reading this book to our daughter when she was just a few months old and it is definately a favorite first book! The words are simple, repetative (but in a cute way not an annoying way:) and there is a new texture to touch on every page. It's so interactive. This is one of the few that our daughter loved to sit all the way through and it's small enough to go everywhere with us (and now that she can walk, she really can carry it with her everywhere:).

These books are really cute. My son (8 mos.) likes to feel the different textures, and my daughter (3 1/2) likes to find the mouse on each page. We have the dinosaur one also.

This is my daughter's FAVORITE book. She's nine months and we've been reading it regularly fo the past couple of months. She loves the basic repetition of 'that's not my puppy..' and especially loves the '..ears are too shaggy.'page. She'll reach for the feely parts of the book :)
It's to the point now where if she's fussy or bored we can recite a line from the book (without having the book, just from memory)and she instantly is destracted, looks up at us and smiles!

After my daughter was born I bought a copy of it for her and it is now one of her favorite books. She is almost 2 and every day she brings me the book and we read it over and over again. She loves squealing "Not My Puppy!" as I turn the pages and we feel the different parts that make it "Not her puppy". "Her" puppy always gets a big kiss on his squashy nose at the end :).

I would recommend this book to any parent, as its fun and can hold the attention span of even the youngest book lover!

This series - Usborne Touchy Feelys - is wonderful. Babies and toddlers LOVE the textures and the bright primary colors. As an Usborne independent consultant, I sell this line of books from home, and the Touchy Feelys are my best sellers. The quality is excellent, very sturdy with rounded corners. Different textured pads on each page include soft fur, bumpy ridges or rough patches. The illustrations are adorable. Peter Usborne himself (the founding publisher) told us this summer that the Touchy Feelys are his favorite books! In addition, I have many Speech Pathologists as customers. They also love this series as it encourages speech.

My son is 17 months and loves this book. We have the sign language dvd titled "my baby can talk" by baby hands and this book is featured and read for the "sign" for book. I thought it might help him make a better connection if he had the book also. It is very short. However, That is about all I have time to read before he is off running.
