i have this camera so it work out great.my wife bought it for my bday.

I've had the book 1 week and it's already dog earred as I peruse through it learning about my Canon Rebel. Have not gone past the 5th chapter into any real detail as I am trying to learn the basics. I could use a little more explanation on the Auto Exposure Lock button and bracketing as I'm having some difficulty mastering the use of these. There seems to be only one paragraph on the technical use for each of these topics. I really appreciate all the photo examples with the camera info, I now have a very firm grasp of the concepts of exposure, depth of field, and use of autofocus features. Now it's up to me to get out and practice the concepts and develop technical expertise.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT Guide to Digital SLR Photography
This is a well written and well organized guide to operating the Rebel XT. I highly recommend it. Trying to learn from the owner's manual what this book describes and explains succintly and clearly, would literally take hours and hours. It is an essential read and a valuable tool for XT owners.

Would be better to read this book, then read the Canon manual.
Gives a little more in depth to the camera functions, as well as, good photography tips.

I found that the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT Guide to Digital SLR Photography went one step past the camera manuel in all aspects of camera operation and explains how to make all of the settings to produce a good photograph. Basically, it helps you to learn how to use your new camera.

While the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT comes with a thorough owner's guide that nicely fits in your camera case or pocket, this fantastic book serves as a great combination of an informative beginner's guide to digital SLR photography AND an excellent manual specific to the Rebel XT that goes way beyond the included owner's guide in both detail and quality. Unlike the owner's guide, this book is illustrated with large color photographs of the XT's specific features and menus, as well as actual photographs taken with the XT to demonstrate the results of various camera settings and techniques. Even if you are an experienced SLR photographer, but are new to the XT, this book will be a valuable addition to your professional library. Even if you are the owner of a different digital SLR, this book will serve as a good introduction to digital SLR photography; but, I warn you, it will make you wish you had purchased the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT instead.

Through, well written, and well illustrated for the Canon XT and Canon accessories.

I have only one criticism: While the book does cover some items not made by Canon, it ignored other very useful accessories made by other manufacturers. For example, the Opteka BGRXT Grip for Canon XT. This grip houses twice the battery power in the form of either two of the stock batteries or six rechargeable NIMH AA batteries. More importantly, the grip allows much easier VERTICAL format picture taking.

Putting this minor criticism aside, every XP owner should own this book.

I bought my first DSLR - Rebel XT awhile back (July 2007). IT has so many features I was just getting lost in the menus. This book explains all the features that a starting DSLR user would ever want to know. The first thing I looked up was continuous shooting (didn't know how to set that) - the book was VERY clear and gave several helpful pointers. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about your Rebel XT.

The book is made out of durable heavy paper - a big plus for me because I will be taking this everywhere. You definitely get your money's worth here!

This is a excellent book. It breaks down everything the owner manual dosen't say into easy to read and understandable text. I have had my camera about a year and learned so much more about it with the first few chapters. I highly recommend any one who owns this camera to buy this book.

I am very impressed with David D. Busch. He has clearly done his homework on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. I have read part of his other publication on dSLR cameras in general... It's an excellent tutorial and reference manual.

In this book, he starts from the package to the more intimate details of the camera. You will find everything you need to know about the controls, it's capabilities, valuable expansion (lenses and all) information, and most importantly; the basics of great photography with the this Canon in mind. "No stone appears to be left unturned." He has essentially given us a much expanded owner's manual.

This book is definitely a "must have" for the owners of the Canon Digital Rebel XT.

What a great book...The book arrived in "brand new" shape, very quickly, much faster than I had anticipated. Better than what I expected. Would buy from this seller in a heartbeat.

Really does a nice job of explaining all the features of the camera.
Part of the book covers the same info as the Canon owners' manual, but with much expanded detail (and you don't need a magnifying glass to read it!). Where the author explains each setting/menu option it has a nice BIG photo showing the button or camera display. Where there are different options, the author explains the purpose of each setting and why you might want to select it.
The book contains lots of color photos. Included is a decent discussion of accessories (flash, lenses, hoods, software, etc.
The book is printed on nice quality paper, with plenty of room in the right-hand margin for your own notes.
I paid a lot for the camera, might as well learn how to use all the features I paid for!
