This book is a great help in showing all the features of the A100. I just wish Sony had such a book with their cameras. I would tell everyone who buys this camera to get the book. I just hope they come up with books for the new Sony products.

This book is a good companion for the Sony A100 DSLR, it allows you to quickly learn the controls, features and settings that will let you get the most from the camera and accessories.

There are many color figures showing the settings and their effects on the photographs.

The beginning of the book is a quick overview of the camera's controls, features, and modes to get you started. Once you have mastered the fundamentals, the next sections focus on specific modes and settings, with examples showing how they affect the photos that you take.

The book explains basic photographic concepts and how to apply them using the cameras features. It lists most situations that you are likely to encounter, including sections on infrared, product, and waterfall photography. As well as how to setup and use the camera's features to get the best results.

As an added benefit to this guide, there is a chapter covering use of the software that comes with the camera, and other tools available to make adjustments and catalog your photographs.

Overall this book covers all the information that you will need to know to get the most out of your Sony A100. In the end you will find yourself with a whole new level of knowledge about your camera as well as the inspiration to go out and take more photos.

I purchased this guide several months after I began using my new Sony A-100 DSLR. I am sorry I waited. The manual packed with the camera is complete and accurate. It covers the technical aspects of the camera, whereas this guide covers both the technical and the techniques in getting the best results with unique features of the Sony A-100. From what I read it seamed to start out ok, till the bindig let go! I had just started, maybe 1/4 in to it and pages just started faling out. poor quality at its best.
As for the book itself how can I be fare with something that I can't read. Using black and white photos for exampeles was also pretty cheap (I more than paid plenty for color)

a good simple no-nonsense guide to the camera...amkes the learning curve far shorter if you're not used to a sophisticated digital camera.

I found this to be a well-written and generally helpful guide to using the Sony DSLR-A100, far easier to follow than the manual that came with the camera. However, I found that for my purposes the Magic Lantern guide (titled simply SONY DSLR A 100 and also available from Amazon), which is comparable in cost, to be more helpful. While it lacks the color pictures of this guide, the trade-off for me was the more detailed information in the latter guide about the camera itself. In short I found that the "Digital Field Guide" tended to be simply a generic guide to DSLR cameras with Sony DSLR information pasted in wherever the author found it appropriate. The Magic Lantern guide on the other hand was Sony DSLR specific from the get-go (and you can by a parallel Magic Lantern DVD that is outstanding).

This book is excellent and very clear. All functions of the camera is explained in depth - this book should have been in the camera box. I never go without it and it is always in my backpack for a quick reference or so.

This is the book that sould have come with the camera. It is clear, easy to use and even a bit fun. The information is very specific but also would help you if you had other cameras. I started with a DVD guide for the A100 and ended up buying this from Amazon. Glad I did, now I have some shots to show people and not feel like I waisted my money on this great DSLR. Perfect book to get started with.

The book is very complete, the photographs in color are fantastic and with technical information treated in a very symple way for everybody to understand.

This book is the ideal ready-reference for any Alpha owner who finds the Alpha manual less than helpful. Both better organized and more clearly-written than the manual, it also goes well beyond the manual in terms of what it covers: not only does it give a rundown of the camera's many features and directions for accessing them, it explains in an easy-to-understand way when and how to make use of each. Well worth the purchase price!
