Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia 2008 Classic Shirt-pocket Edition (Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia)

The Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia continues to be the most popular and most trusted portable drug dosing reference available! Newly updated for 2008, the Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia continues the high-quality tradition of a convenient, organized, and concise pocket manual packed with vital drug information meticulously peer-reviewed by experts and clinicians of multiple specialties. It details typical drug dosing (both FDA approved and off-label uses), available trade and generic formulations, metabolism, safety in pregnancy and lactation, relative drug pricing information, Canadian trade names, and an Herbal Alternative Therapies section. Multiple invaluable tables supplement the drug content, including opioid equivalency, emergency drug infusions, cardiac dysrhythmia protocols, pediatric drug dosing, and much more.

(Hide Review...)  Good if you only need dosages...

As a 3rd year medical student, I needed something with more information other than dosages. This book is probably good for interns who are already familiar with all aspects of the drugs.

I found this pockect book really helpful during my clinical courses. It 's easy to use. It contains the most prescripted drugs and that 's a very nice reason for a student to have it.

This is a great pocket reference for the busy physician. The best thing is that doesn't break when you drop it----like my PDA.

I purchase each new Tarascon addition for my husband, who is a solo practitioner and specialist. He carries it with him in the pocket of his scrubs and uses it daily with almost every patient for accuracy in dosing.

He says that it is much easier to use for dosing than the PDR, much more convenient and quicker. He finds it much easier to use than any other source. The print size, which looks to be smaller, is however not too small for him.

I usually buy three at a time because that is how many he'll use up in a year due to wear-and-tear and misplacement, and then use the old ones from previous years for collage because of the beautiful thin-but-strong onion-skin type paper.

It is what it is. Not too many new things are in the updated 2008 version versus the older editions. However, it still is thee book to have, although I may purchase the larger version next time.

I've carried this in my pocket every shift since my very first preceptor gave it to me. It's absolutely indispenable. And now that I precept new nurses into a neurosurgical critical care unit, this is what they get from me on their first day. :)
