As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob--knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. In a world where two enemies are forced together, chaos reins. In the novel Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer, Bella, the main character, must make the most important decision of her life, Jacob or Edward and two worlds collide, the worlds of vampires and werewolves. Bella Swan is a normal high school student, except for the fact that her boyfriend is a vampire and her best friend is a werewolf.
This story is the third book in the "Twilight Saga". In this adventure Bella is hunted by three vicious groups, The Vultori, who either want Bella dead or a vampire, Victoria the vampire who wants revenge, and the newborn army of vampires. Bella must escape everything her enemies have in store for her while deciding between Edward and Jacob.
This is the first of Stephenie Meyer's series I have read; as soon as you open Twilight (the first book) it is impossible to stop reading. Meyer draws the reader into the book so that you cannot put it down. I read Eclipse in a few hours even though it is six hundred pages long. I have never had a taste for science fiction but this particular story is one I enjoyed and will continue to read many times. Meyer makes you care for characters as if they were your friends, or maybe even as if they were you. Not only is it a magnificent story, but Meyer's writing style draws you in as well. Although she has a talent for building suspense the book is equally as interesting when she is expressing Bella's thoughts and feelings.
As both an exciting, suspenseful read and a thoughtful character study, Eclipse is well worth it.

Possible spoilers, be warned.

Alright, I'll admit it. I cried a few times while reading this one, much to my *chagrin*. I honestly can't even remember what parts had me crying, though. So... make of that what you will.

The worst thing about this book (for me) is that Edward is back and just as controlling as ever. At least, he's a domineering jerk for as long is convenient to the story. Then he suddenly is Mr. Understanding while Jacob takes the wheel of the creepmobile by practically assaulting Bella. I don't understand why fans of this series swoon over Edward and Jacob. They spend most of their time talking down to the heroine of the books in some misguided attempt to "protect" her, because apparently girls are too helpless to take care of themselves. And when they're not "protecting" her, they're blatantly being possessive of her and semi-stalking her. Jealousy is NOT an attractive quality in a partner, boys and girls. Neither is kissing someone against her will.

A plus to Eclipse is that the plot outside of the love triangle is more fleshed out than in the previous two. There are mysterious murders happening in nearby Seattle, and Bella and the Cullens suspect that vampires are behind it. Bella is still also under threat from Victoria and the Volturi, which adds a dash of suspense.

Similarly with Twilight and New Moon, the book is entertaining for the most part, even if it isn't very well written. The whole series is sort of like a paperback soap opera, with sparkly vampires. Engrossing and fun, but without any real substance.

When I realized that she was making it a love triagle, I was a bit annoyed, but Stephanie does a good job of keeping the rest of the book suspenseful. It was interesting to read more about Jacob's pack.

While I was intriged by the characters in Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse solidified my obsession. This book had great drama, romance, action, adverture, fantasy, freindship, and a simple love story of not-so-simple characters. I highly suggest this series for those who love a good story and an escape from reality. I know I did.

Also, I support Stephenie Meyer in her time if distress since her unfinished Transcript of Midnight Sun was realeased without her knowledge. There are many of us who cried right along with her to see her trust betrayed, and her character developement spoiled. We will wait for the real thing Stephenie. . .

Ok, the plot in a nutshell: Bella is working her way through graduation, which is to lead up the shedding of her humanity to become a vampire and live happily with her vampire boyfriend Edward. During the course of this story, she becomes the target of a group of newborn vampires. Her werewolf friends and her vampire 'family' join as reluctant allies to aid her. More a story of Bella's feeling for Edward and her best friend, the werewolf Jacob than an action/suspense story, this story at times is almost too much to take. Bella's whiny, self-pitying reaches a new low here. There is nothing redeemable about this character. Zilch, zip, nadda. She is selfish, but she tortures herself because she is so, but she still doesn't change. Edward is a bit more substantial and can be a fun, well drawn character except when he is professing his love to Bella, or talking about how he can't live without her, and would give up anything to make her happy. Unfortunately this happens at least once, every other page. I kid you not. Jacob is a much better character, he is unflinchingly an unperfect character (although beautiful, because apparently Mrs.Meyer doesn't allow unbeautiful type people in her created world) but he is tremendously likeable as well. The writing is tired and poorly done in a technical sense. The amazing thing is that I can't help but enjoy these books. There isn't a logical reason I should. The two main characters are whiny, self absorbed, and just cheesy as all get out. There isn't much of a plot to speak of, and the writing is eye roll inducing. But the story moves quickly across the page, and it never stops being absorbing. I can never call myself a Twilight fan, but I still would say these books are enjoyable.

I had already read the first two books in about a 2 days time so I knew I had to order Eclipse, the third in the saga. This one is full of more action than the preceding books and I personally found it more enjoyable. I won't go in to detail because I don't want to spoil the story, but if you have read the first two, then you HAVE to keep going! And if you haven't yet read the first two books, order them as well and get started!!

While the series is more or less geared for YA, many ages can find something to relate to within all the books of the saga.

Of the four books I think this one is probably on the lower end of my favorites. After New Moon, I love that Edward is back. It was so lonely without him. I'm frustrated with Bella though, and her inability to stay away from Jacob. I dislike the constant back and forth. She is hopelessly unaware of anyone else's feelings but her own. Don't get me wrong, I still love her dearly but at some point I just really wanted to shake her and say "Look at what you already have! You have Edward! Your true love! Lets not get greedy, there needs to be some sacrifice and suffering!" The compromise scene in Edward's bedroom was one of my favorites (probably because this is the point he finally gets her to accept his proposal) and then when he throws it back in Jacob's face the next day in tent.

I like what Stephenie Meyers has said about Bella realizing she was in love with Jacob in the 11th Hour. Though she sees the future she could have with Jacob, how easy it would be and how she could eventually be happy she still chooses Edward. I don't think this makes her weak character. I think as a person she knows her limitations, she knows that though a small part of her loves Jacob the love she has for Edward is greater and, well eclipses anything else. I don't see the downside to this at all. It's a hard choice but it's the right choice for her.

In the Twilight Saga, thus far, this book is my favorite one, by leaps & bounds!
This book has everything that made the first two as good as they are, plus more.
This one had all of the action that I've been waiting for - Vampires vs Vampires, Vampires vs Werewolves, etc.
In this book, Stephenie also tells the Legend of the Werewolves Beginning, which was Superb - one of my favorite parts! She also fleshed out the back-stories of some of the other characters, which is also very cool.

Eclipse has Bella finally thinking about what she is going to be leaving behind when she becomes a vampire, that it's not going to be as easy as first thought. To me, it makes her seem to be more real as a teenager.

This book shows us more of the family dynamic between the Cullens. We get personal stories behind Rosalie and Jasper. The Cullens are still out saving Bella, but it is more apparent that they all love her and have accepted her as part of the family.

Bella also has to struggle between her love of Edward and Jacob, while they have to struggle to get along for Bella. All in all, it is my favorite book in the series.

I have honestly never read an entire book in all my life with the exceptions of some Shakespeare. I started reading the saga on Monday. I finished reading the last book Friday. I could not put it down! Yes if I ever hear another writer or person for that matter say something in regards to "pursing lips" I may blow my head off. But, beyond some of the crappy over expressions used I feel this series is an excellent read. Also I kept in mind that I am in fact reading a young adult fantasy romance book.
If I wanted reality I could have picked up a biography. I wanted fantasy. Something I could day dream over. It did the job all too well.
Harry potter can kiss it! I need romantic horror.

Though Bella is sure of her future with Edward, but she is scared about leaving her life completely behind. Edward is worried that the Voultri are scaring her into the life-long choise of being a vampire.

Even worse, is the overwhelming horror coming from Seattle, plus the mysterious visit to Bella's house while she was gone, have Alice's visons in so much confusion that she can't see what's coming.

This book was waited for with bated breath, and I, along with everyone else, squealed with excitement when they handed me my copy.

I loved Bella, Edward, and Jacob's love triangle. Jacob's pain hurt me though, and I remember hoping that Jacob would find happiness outside of Bella.

I love Edward and Bella's relationship. Bella loves him so much, but she's bewildered by his love for her. I'm hoping we'll see more of Edward's side in 'Midnight Sun'.

You won't be disappointed with this book. Stephenie Meyer is doing is again, again, and again.

Thanks for a wonderful read Stephenie Meyer!

I have never written a review on any book before. But I just finished reading this one and I felt compelled to. I LOVE the Twilight series. I have never read books that enthrawled and entrapped me more. I have never felt so strongly about fictional characters before or FELT the love of 2 characters as I do Edward and Bella. That is why I was left flat and very dissapointed at the end of this one. The whole Jacob and Bella part... The kiss. I wanted to scream! I wanted to hit Bella hard. To smack some sense into her! I was to entrapped by the love between Edard and Bella that I felt this was a slap in the readers face. I know a few of you out there were pulling for Jacob, but from the first two books that was impossible to believe it would happen. That she would have any other feeling but friendship with Jacob. I felt like Stephanie was writting that whole part to please a small few and it didn't work.
To have someone love you and feel for you what Edward feels for Bella (no matter how unrealistic) was amazing to read. This whole love triangle thig did not work.
I didn't think I would like book 2 because Edward was not in most of it. But I felt his presence and that was enough. I was so excited to read this ont to get him back and read about their love again. I guess thats why this last part of it so greatly dissaponted me. It had lots of good moments, but this whole part made me really upset.
I have yet to read the last book and I am very excited to do so, despite its reviews. I am and always will be a huge Twilight fan. I thank Stephanie Meyer emensly for writting such wonderful books to capture us all.

The first book of the series of Twilight was brilliant, the second one following wasn't far behind. The third book however left a sour distaste in my mouth. The development of a certain relationship of two characters was taken a few steps too far and it seemed more out of desperation to keep the readers reading to get to the happy ending everyone wanted instead of the interesting plot and character development found in the first two books. However hopefully the fourth book can balance out the disappointment found in the third book.

I am not sure if the author was intending to make Bella like this or it just happened as she was writing...

I did enjoy the first two books and was enjoying the third one till Bella started being so ANNOYING... The author did eliminate the beauty of the book and turned Bella into a cheap selfish girl... I mean come on if this book is read by teens look at the message its delivering to them, there are many reading this book and obssessed by it...

I am not a Teen yet I love every now and then to read fantasy books and let my mind drift away... but reading this book all I saw was images of Bella making out with whoever passes her way... Its good that she didnt make out with Victoria... I dont know what happened but after all the smooching and shudderring that bella felt every time she touched someone, I start to wonder if this was a Fantasy book or a Sexual Fantasy Book...

There is a thin line between love and physical touch... and that is where the author lost it... I cant see Bella except like a self manipulating girl who wants to have everything... The author forgot that her target audience were mainly teens and she removed morals and ethics from the story...

I was really disappointed and decided to take a break before I read Book 4... Yet I cannot deny that the author has her way with words which makes you keep reading even if you dont like what you see...

PS: Read The host if you get the chance its a good book...

There are three back-stories in this third installment that are interesting; however, does not make it reader-friendly as a re-read, but still the story-line makes it almost unnoticable.

Book 3 - Twilight Series - In this sequel to Twilight and New Moon,
High school graduation looms for Bella, and conventional worries over college applications vie with her plans for immortality and marriage to a vampire classmate, Edward Cullen.

Although I enjoyed this book, it did not seem to have as much intensity as the other two books; it began much too slow. The author has created a love triangle, and it will be interesting to see how she resolves Bella's love for Edward & Jacob in the next book. As a reader you also also get a deeper look into the life of werewolves with legends and tales passed down through generations on how this supernatural way of life came to be. I enjoyed the symbolism of Edward being the moon --cold and hard, and Jacob being the sun --warm and comforting.

If you enjoy the intense feelings Bella has for Edward, and her desire to dwell with him eternally, and, can also appreciate her strange need to connect with Jacob, then you should not be disappointed with this novel. I look forward to reading --Breaking Dawn soon.

Edward is back for good. Graduation is coming and Edward has promised Bella a thousand times that he isn't leaving her again. The only thing in their way? Jacob. As much as I appreciated Jacob being there for her when Edward broke her heart, he really had to understand that her heart was with Edward. Once again, I couldn't put this book down until I was finished with it and I found myself very happy that I waited until Breaking Dawn was out to read it. I couldn't contain myself until I went and purchased Breaking Dawn to se what happened next.

Stephenie Meyer delivers every single time and this may be my second favorite book of the series. It has love, pain, humor, fighting, everything you could ask for from this series. Bella spends a lot of time in this book confused and sometimes it gets frustrating, but she makes the right decision in the end. Great job Stephenie!

(Hide Review...)  The Twilight Saga (Books 1-4)... Amazing!!!

I would have to disagree with those customers who give the Twilight saga books a negative review. With all due respect, everyone is entitled to their own personal opinions, as I am too. But this is a work of brilliance. Lots of ethos - but quite vivid in terms of making one's imagination wonder.

When I first heard, from a friend of mine, that there was this new best-selling LDS author (Stephenie M. Meyer) who had recently released these three awesome books (and now four, inclusive of Breaking Dawn), I absolutely had to inquire more into it.

At first I kind of cringed away from reading them - because I heard the words "it's about vampires..." in it. BUT, they had my undivided attention when they accompanied that with "...and brim with romance". What more can I say - as most ladies, if not all, we are suckers for romance. Start to finish of the Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn books, I must say - they were wrapped with suspense, moments that made me want to cry, and others too that made my heart explode with overwhelming emotion at the love and romance that exists between Bella and Edward, and the other characters in their complementary relationships with each other.

These books are sure to keep you on edge, all the way through, in short - a nail-biting experience very very much well worth the read, and absolutely recommended (by me and other fanatics of these books at least!!). Once you commence, it will be hard to put the novels down - even if it is only for a few seconds - as I found out for myself; first hand experience! :)

I would say that it is "safe", or rather suitable for teens (at least those about 16 and above - who have reached the LDS dating age etc.!), and adults alike, as I am one myself, an adolescent at 19 years of age. Overall, fit for all ages... and gender (hopefully you guys will love these books as much us gals do)... A marvelous read!!!

I could not put the book down- I read each of them straight through. I even took it to a restaurant with me so I didn't have to stop to cook or eat!

...must there always be an annoying contrived love triangle? Edward deserves much better then this whiny, annoying 'heroine'. After the first book (which is one of my favorite books) this nonsense should be inconceivable-if she loved Edward the way s he supposedly did this whole Jacob thing would be absurd. A bad way to draw out the series-and I cannot stand the Jacob character. THis has been tossed in a closet, and will be dug out only to be placed in my recycle bin.

Poor Edward. I wish Bella was more worthy of him. I will pretend Twilight was the beginning and the end!

Hi there! So.. I'm brazilian... I read Twilight in portuguese here.. I choose it by luck, I guess... I wasn't expecting to fall in love, you know... Then I got insane! I had to read the other books.. And so, I bought from Amazon, (still in english!) new moon, eclipse and breaking down.. It took me four days to read all of them.. two days the last book.. one day for each other.. I couldn't help myself... I think it's like falling in love really! I won't tell Eclipse is my favorite book among them, but it`s really important.. and although I felt something like deeply troubled with Bella infatuation for Jacob for a while... This book has the most amazing moments between she and Edward.. like when they decided to get married and some other couple decisions.. and it's trully romantic when it comes to handle the unbearable for the one you cares about... Deffinitly it's something you can't miss before breaking down.. wich is completely different from the others... you see... I think Meyer could have written some more books... it's to much happening in breaking down... it brilliant.. but then it's over! I would rather read at least two more books before "the end" comes literally... So... You gotta read it.. know about Victoria's final act, Bella's wedding plans, the Aliance with werewolfs. If you can't imagine.. Go figure! I just did, and I loved it!
