Princess & the Kiss: A Story of God's Gift of Purity

A loving king and queen present their daughter with a gift from God - her first kiss - to keep or to give away. The wise girl waits for the man who is worthy of her precious gift. Where is he and how will she ever find him? The surprising answer in this marvelous parable will touch the heart of parent and child alike. The Princess and the Kiss beautifully portrays the ageless message that "love... comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith" (1 Timothy 1:5 NIV)

I bought three. One for me (I'm 25) and one for each of my sisters (16 & 20) and then I had our father write us a personal message. This is a beautiful and not sappy story that espouses chastity and purity. An easy read when one needs reminding to stand firm and cling to values.

This is a good book on preserving yourself for your husband. My 4 year old understood the "princess getting married" part, but the importance of "the kiss" went over her head. My 8 year old understood the entire book, but it seemed a little "babish" for her. I think this book is more geared for ages 5-7. Great book though!

This is a beautiful story with beautiful illustrations. My 8 yr old loves it. A very good story of a princess who saves her purity for the right man and for marriage. I will use this for many years to encourage my daughter to do the same.

I can't tell you how many of these I have given as birthday gifts to my daughter's friends (she's now 9) for the past 4 or 5 years. Every parent needs to read this to their young daughters over and over and over again. It really reinforces the virtue of purity.

Wow I was pleasantly surprised with this book as well as the Squire and the Scroll. It teaches about chasity and purity and that a kiss is something special to give to your husband. Which we are planning on promoting courtship dating with our daughters and it seems to fit well with our family values. We read fairy tales all the time (NOT DISNEY) and it does bother me that they all the happy ending. So this book does well to offset that not just ANY young man is worthy of your kiss.

Beautifully written and illustrated, this book shows how very special a gift we are each given. Its fun and not to "informative" for the kids, yet plants that little seed in their head that saving themself for marriage is important and special.
I wish I had this book when I was growing up. I plan to buy it for everyone I know with young kids!

This is seriously one of the weirdest books I've ever read in my entire life. I'm definitely not letting my kids have it until they thoroughly understand sex. The metaphor is far too complex for the minds of the age group that this book was published for. There's no way in hell I'm letting my daughter grow up thinking that her virginity is a glowy orb in a glass case.

The Princess and the Kiss is a lovely story. It is very useful in introducing sex education to pre-teen girls (10-13 year olds). I recommend it wholeheartedly. It should be read with an adult followed by a discussion. The illustrations are nice and it is beautifully written. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

This Christian writer weaves a beautiful story of what a gift Purity truly is. This gift from God should be praised and taught to all children, girls as well as boys. I have no children of my own, but I will give this book at baby showers from now on.

What a simple but powerful story all little girls need to hear. Their gift of chastity and purity is a gift to cherish. And should only be given in the bonds of marriage.

I have recommended this book over and over again...almost as many times as my daughter has requested this story as her nighttime read. A very beautiful story about carefully choosing the receipient of a gift that can never be regained once it is given. And it is miraculously done without a tone of lecturing or parental posturing.

(Hide Review...)  Superb Book --- a MUST for your daughters (and sons!!)
Reviewer Permalink
We bought this book for our daughter when she was 4 and she is now 7 and still loves it. And because our sons are younger than her they have grown up hearing it as well and like it just as much as their sister. I am thankful for that because the book may be about a "princess'" kiss, it also teaches on how to be gentlemanly.
This book is a must! Start reading it , or just talking about the pictures if you have young children who won't understand the text, but keep reading it as they grow! Very inspirational!

To approach the concept of purity at such a young age is tender and difficult at best; this book embraces the beauty and sanctity of the gift of purity without having to go into any explicits. Wonderfully written, beautifully drawn. I'm recommending it to everyone.

This is a beautiful book. It is the story of a princess who saves her first kiss for the altar of marriage. Many suitors come who are not worthy of her kiss, and she wisely sends them all away. She then recognizes the one who also saved his kiss for his wife as worthy. The art of the book is beautiful, and the concepts of purity and waiting are presented in an accessible way for young children. I bought a copy for my son, and he recognized that the only one worthy of the princess was the one who saved his kiss.

(Hide Review...)  Great life lesson and fairy tale combined
Reviewer Permalink
My daughter loves this book! Being three, she still thinks the book is a fairy tale about a beautiful princess that marries a handsome prince. As she gets older, we'll discuss the real meaning of the cleverly named princes, as I'm sure she'll wonder about their interesting names. My daughter doesn't grasp the concept of "the kiss" and how it relates to purity, but as she gets older it will begin to make sense. It will be a great book to have around as my kids get older and understand the real meaning of the story and the younger ones focus on the fairy tale side of it. I think it will be a great way to bring up the gift of purity in conversation as my kids get older and begin to ask more questions. I thought the book was very well written and it definatley has appeal to those who like princess stories. The book was recommended to me by a friend. I knew how the book was going to end and I still got emotional as I read it the first time with my daughter. I've since recommended this book to several other friends with daughters who were looking for subtle ways to teach their children about the gift of purity.

The Princess and the Kiss is a wonderful, entertaining story that teaches important principals about sexual purity for young girls. I bought it for my granddaughter, who is 6 years old. I also think it is a book that a girl can understand on different levels as she grows older. The illustrations are beautiful and the "fairy tale" style is very appealng.

(Hide Review...)  Not for little kids!
Reviewer Permalink
I was shocked when my mother-in-law sent this to my two year old. Like many previous reviewers have stated, this is not for little kids (I would reserve it for 8-10 year olds since you may not want to elaborate on what they mean by a "kiss" to a child younger than that). I too think the metaphors are a little racy (if not gross). And without the moral, the story is rather stupid. My toddler kisses all her family and friends, she would not understand what "saving it" would mean. And if this princess were truly pure, she would have waited six months to marry the farmer, instead of jumping into matrimonials, lol. Overall, I thought this book was dumb and I'll definitely be shelving it or selling it on Ebay!
