It's been a year since the pulses started. The Branning family has been through a lot in that time. But things are finally looking up. Banks are opening on a limited basis. Even better, word has come out that the pulses have stopped. While that doesn't mean technology is back, it means things can get started.
Which is why Craig shows up. Denni's former fiancee has taken a job trying to restore the electricity in Alabama. And he's using it as an excuse to worm his way back into Denni's heart. Naturally, that's not sitting well with Mark Green, Denni's new boyfriend. But while all this is going on, twelve year old Beth is withdrawing. After witnessing a murder, she is afraid the killer will track her down and fulfill his threat to murder her, too. Should she keep her mouth shut? Will he find her? This is the fourth and final book in the series. It is absolutely critical you read the other three first to fully understand who these people are and there relationships. Having said that, I was disappointed with the book. Once again, the mystery aspect gets squashed for other things. And yes, there is a lot going on here between Beth's story, the romantic triangle, and ending the power outages. But it's only the last two that are properly developed. Craig and Mark's scenes provide some much needed comic relief. And it's nice watching how things are slowing coming back to what we knew. But it's Beth's story that really disappoints. As I already said, as a mystery it falls very flat. And the entire story tries to wrestle with some very weighty theological issues. Even though this is the longest book in the series, it just doesn't have enough time to fully develop everything. As a result, the ending was way too rushed to give the emotional resolution I needed. Honestly, if there had been another book in the series to fully play out what happened here, I would have been happier. Fans of the series will want to read this book to find out how it all ends. And I am glad I read the series. It's just a shame that this was the weakest entry in it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-19 05:56:55 EST)

The long wait for this book was well worth it. From the minute I picked it up I couldn't put it down. There were actually two mysteries going on at the same time. This book is well written as is all of Terri Blackstock's books. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, but look out for the end. Keep your kleenex handy!

I HAVE NOT FOUND A TERRI BLACKSTOCK BOOK I DIDN'T LIKE. HER BOOKS KEEP YOU WONDERING BUT NOT TOO MUCH. SHE DOES NOT GO TO THE EXTREME.
I LIKE HER ENDINGS. LIKE MOST FEMALES, WE CAN GO THROUGH ALOT BUT LETS ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD ENDING. THANKS TERRI. I HAVE READ NEARLY ALL OF YOUR BOOKS. KIM FROM GEORGIA (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-12 07:11:59 EST)

This was spell binding!! A perfect ending to this series. I couldn't put it down. Hope to see more of this type of book from Ms. Blackstock in the future. I would highly recommend it to any and all readers who like a good Christian based novel. It had mystery, a love story, and MUCH meaning in todays world. Myrna Cullop Damascus, VA

I loved this series! Dawn's Light pulled the series together without the happily-ever-after ending that many people expect for Christians. The way the parents go through a crisis in their faith shows that even the strongest believers experience doubts when faced with tragedy. This was a truly inspiring read.

Dawn's Light is an excellent written book. It is an appropriate end to a series of 4 books. It will hold you in captivity to see what is going to happen next. Terri Blackstock writes her books in an easy reading format and keeps you held captive with each chapter. I recommend this series of books to anyone who enjoys a good mystery novel, without the worry of language and inappropriate scenes being used in the books.

The entire restoration series made me realize how dependant I am on electricity for what I consider the "bare essentials". It was a very interesting and thought provoking read.

The story keeps your attention to the very end. In fact, it may bring tears to your eyes. Don't want to spoil it for you. This is a must-read!

I enjoyed this book. The second book and this one were my favorites
in this series. They kept my interest better than the first and third books did. I had to read about half the first book before I really got interested. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-04 07:20:03 EST)

Dawn's Light, the fourth and last book in the "Restoration" series, is the best one of them all. Read all three preceding books first to capture the background and get to know the characters.
This book was the strongest one in the series. It deals with crime, loss, love and redemption, written beautifully and realistically by the author. The characters draw you in even closer than the previous books, especially Deni, Kay, Beth and Doug. This is without a doubt my favorite Christian fiction book of the past two years. Highly recommended. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-05-28 05:48:56 EST)

this book was far better than I imagined it would be. It does a wonderful job of pulling all the story lines together from the other three books. In this book, Beth accidently sees a murder. The murderer hunts Beth down, and , this was really sad , strangles her, which causes her to eventually die. That was the only extremly emotional part of the book and it made me cry and cry when she died. The book ends with the children in the neighborhood putting on a play in Beth's honor. It is all very touching. Deni and Mark do end up together, although Craig and Mark have a few run-ins with each other over Deni. I would deffinately reccommend this book, and all of Terri Blackstocks other books to all my friends.

I have to agree with another reviewer on this site. I loved the concept for this series and I have read each book in the series. I will not be reading anymore of the author's books. There was just too much loss in this series but particularly in this ending book to the Restoration. I had a hard time dealing with the loss in this book - I felt it could have ended on a different note and without all the heartache and loss and it still would have been a wonderful series.

What a blessing this book and series (Restoration Series) has been for me. I thank God for you Terri. Your writing has touch my heart and put a lot on my mind about this world and my life. As I read your books, I put myself into each of the characters and tried to think what I would do in their positions. I've enjoyed this series so much I've told my sister and six other people about this series. A few of them have told me how it has touched and changed their lives too. May God continue blessing you in your writing.

Terri Blackstock shows how a family can survive even through some very hard times, with their faith in Christ. This is a wonderful story that you must start with the first book, I did and could not stop untill I came to the last book.

My wife and I have always enjoyed Blackstock's books. But I struggle when the final book of a series has so much loss in it. Another of her series had a similar series ending book where much of the characters that you've grown to know, died. Although I understand why Blackstock included this loss, I feel that a final book of a series should leave a better taste in my mouth. If this had been done in the third book, it would be a different rating. I read it to finish the series, and I probably won't again. Blackstock is a good writer, but I only give this book a C.

"Dawn's Light"--the eagerly-awaited fourth and final installment of Terri Blackstock's extraordinary RESTORATION series--is simply, in a word, Great! Just when you're convinced that her last book was her best, and that she couldn't possibly write a better one...somehow she manages to come up with yet another "best book!" (And, we understand that this one was written under less-than-ideal circumstances, as she was experiencing some health problems.) This novel ends (at least for now) the epic saga of the Branning family, caught up in an inexplicable world-wide power outage. This premise sets the stage for Ms. Blackstock to explore how people, accustomed to advanced technology as a matter of "entitlement," react differently to such an unexpected crisis: some taking advantage of others; some willingly sharing what little they have with their neighbors. This series--as is the case with all of Terri Blackstock's books--has characters, richly drawn, whom you care about (and some whom you wouldn't want to know!) The RESTORATION books are especially compelling... unique, suspenseful, frightening, surprising; and, most of all, inspirational. These books, as all of Terri's works, are "...lovingly dedicated to the Nazarene." While her deeply-held Christian faith is the foundation for her writing, to those who may not share her beliefs, I would urge that they read this series of books, and not be deterred by this special aspect of her talent. It does not detract from the compelling stories she writes... but for many of us it truly enhances them. "Dawn's Light" is a finale to an exceptional series which will not soon be forgotten. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have enjoyed reading this series of books. This one wasn't at all what I was expecting, but it is a great book. I highly recommend this book and the other books in the series. I was a little disappointed with the typos.

This is probably the most thought provoking series of books I have ever read. We are so blessed and take so much for granted! I could not put this book down. I had to keep reminding myself that this is fiction and yet this family could so easily be my own. One warning I would give is this is not a light and fluffy book. It is heavy stuff!

I was able to pre-order this book, because I knew it had to be a grand ending for the series. I would say "I wasn't disappointed" but in some ways I was, however, it is a great story. I hate it when people write a review that gives away the ending, I refuse to do that. I will just say this was another well written story that wasn't predictable.
Everything else I want to say about the story would give away the ending, but I will say this whole series was a wake up call to how dependent we are on the technology around us. I've thought many times since I started this series, what would it be like if we did see a global "blackout" of all our electronics. How would I fair having to learn to survive in the type of situation that was spelled out in this story. [...] (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-05-03 05:54:43 EST)

Terri, I must say first how much i have enjoyed your books. there is not one of them I would rate lower than a 5 star. in my opinion i would rate them all 10 star. thank you so much for good reading. this book Dawn's Light i could not put it down. It was so enlightening to read about people like ourselves and how they deal with such tregdy and remain so faithful to our Heavenly Father. and as we all do often is question GOD as to why. the ending of this book is worth more than a billion words to our hearts and faith in Jesus. it is a must read for sure. the suspense is such a page turner and leaves you refreshed and as well asking yourselve what would u do in the curcumstances. the mother and father Kay and Doug are such a good example to young parents. thank you so much . when does the next series comes out. i wish you could write them as fast as we read them. waiting for more of your writting.

I've greatly enjoyed following Blackstock's series. It's had lots of suspense and great interactions between typical family members & neighbors. It's been especially interesting to see her treatment of the total loss of electricity theme. Two other CBA authors (at least) have written novels on this theme: Larry Burkett's *Solar Flare* and Jim Kraus' *The Silence*. All of them have a different story to tell but I always enjoy seeing what authors will do with very similar themes.
In this fourth and final volume, the end of the blackout is in sight. But humans being capable of what they are, the end of troubles is definitely NOT. Deni Branning, the older daughter, will have to choose (again) between ex-fiance Craig and hometown boyfriend Mark Green. And some very sad times are ahead for the Brannings just when they thought it would be OK. If you've read any of the others, you'll have to get this one! I love this series of books. Imagine absolutely nothing works which needs electricity.
We are so dependent, it takes no time at all for society to fall into despair. The family this centers on is really believable. The kind of people you know already. I want Ms. Blackstock to hurry up and publish more! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-15 06:02:25 EST)
