I absolutely love this book. My favorite book right now. It is so weird that they go back to the Tribe of Rushing Water.

This book is ah-mazing. I heart it.
In Outcast, you really get to see another side of Breezepaw and you can really see Lionpaw's power devolping.
And theres a great battle and You get to see the tribe again.
And Purdy!!!!!!

Jaypaw remembers experiencing the presence of ancient cat warriors near him at Moonpool and attempts to speak with them again. The young warrior apprentice suspects that the ancient warriors could enlighten him, explaining the prophecy he heard in Firestar's dream: "There will be three, kin of your kin, who will hold the power of the stars in the paw." But, alas, the ancient warriors do not respond to Jaypaw's entreaties.

Now, though, Jaypaw must find herbs for his medicine cat mentor, Leafpool. He complies, but it's obvious that his mind is not on his job, and he inadvertently frightens away a thrush being stalked by warrior apprentices. Meanwhile, his brother, Lionpaw, wishes that it was time for his assessment as a warrior; he's tired of being just a warrior apprentice. On the other hand, Jaypaw knows he will not be a true medicine cat until Leafpool dies --- and he would never wish for that.

Hollypaw is distracted by thoughts that someday the Clan may expect her to find a mate and have kits. She knows she's not ready for those kinds of responsibilities, especially since she mostly wants to put her energy toward being an excellent warrior. In fact, her true secret ambition is to be Clan leader, and she definitely can't imagine combining that position with motherhood. As she ponders her future, Hollypaw is fascinated with the tales that Brook tells of growing up in the Tribe of Rushing Water. Hollypaw wishes she could visit Brook's tribe, but is sure she will never travel to the far distant mountains in which they make their home.

When Jaypaw at last is able to communicate with Rock, one of the ancient cats, he doesn't get the clear-cut answers about his destiny that he seeks. However, he learns from others that the Tribe of Rushing Water is in peril --- and he knows that somehow this will affect his future. Lionpaw is also hearing tales of the Tribe of Rushing Water mountain home, from Stormfur. He longs to explore the area, knowing that he's seen only a very small part of what the world has to offer.

When strange cats approach ThunderClan, Brook knows them. They are Tribe of Rushing Water warriors Talon and Night. The two strangers request Stormfur and Brook's return to the mountains, to help save the Tribe. When ThunderClan rallies to help, Lionpaw, Jaypaw and Hollypaw are determined to go as well. When Firestar finally agrees, they are thrilled. But they have no way to guess the perils and the rewards they'll encounter on their quest.

OUTCAST will thrill Warriors fans with its trademark thrilling adventures and warm emotions as Lionpaw, Jaypaw and Hollypaw continue to grow and change through tough challenges and interactions with others. Readers will count the days until the next epic and entertaining Power of Three installment is available.

I bought these books for my son. He loves the series. I hope she comes out with new ones soon.

Absolutely a wonderful read, suspenseful but action packed. A must read for all Warriors fans.

On the whole,I thought that this book(while not great like Dark River was)was good.The Three are a little more fleshed out,and I was waiting with baited breath for the next appearance of the mysterious Rock.Of course he doesn't say much,but we do learn that even the Tribe has prophecies about the Three.The one thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough fighting and suspense,and most of the Tribe still suffer from 2-D Syndrome.But Outcast was still good.I can't wait for Eclipse!

I will say that I liked the book, simple enough. Some parts though were horribly predictable. This is the 3rd book in a 6 book arc, and there is STILL no villian or any real threat. It's filler and questions- lots of filler. That being said, the book is decent, but this series and plot line is just dragging on and on. The author seriously needs to stop soon. Most likely I'll hold out to the end just to see how everything finishes up, but then I'm done. The plot is and has been basically this: special cat(s) get power from warrior ancestors, destined for greatness, big soap opera plots about forbidden love, evil cat (who should've left AGES ago), angst, angst, angst, fight, blood, cheesy lesson above loyalty or love.

This story is a thrilling adventure, sure to fulfill your desire for new Warriors books. Make sure you have read the whole other series or you will not understand the characters and concept. Choose it.

Upon receiving Outcast, it was so good I devoured it within a day. The plot was very creative and well-thought out, and the character development was splendid.
Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw all feel a force pulling them towards the mountains. Jaypaw is eager to discover the secrets of the ancient cats from Dark River, Hollypaw wants to see the different ways of Tribe life, and Lionpaw finds himself yearning to see territories outside the lake. When two Tribe cats come back in search of Stormfur and Brook's help, the three apprentices have their chance, and they jump for it! To their surprise, the warriors decide to let them go. The rest blends into a wonderful tale as slowly, each of the three find what they are looking for among the Tribe.
I loved this book for many reasons. One, the fact that the journey did not start at the beginning of the book didn't matter, since irritating characters kept it interesting. Two, the character development was great. You really get to see insight on why the characters are the way they are, and follow them as it changes. Three, the final battle scene was amazing. I was literally on the edge of my chair and I read through Lionpaw's account. And four, the cliffhanger (sort of) at the end was an interesting twist. (If you're wondering, what makes it a cliffhanger is the fact that you don't get to see the others' reactions.)
So all in all, Outcast was great. I would DEFINITELY recommend it and I will DEFINITELY still feel the same emotions coursing through me when I read it again. Outcast is awesome; get it now!

I've had a wonderful time buying all the books from all the series's of this wonderful author, Erin Hunter. My son enjoys them and it's such a pleasure watching him reading them...It has been a wonderful purchase, every single one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this book for my Grandson Kyle 14 years old. He has read all the other Cat books by Erin Hunter and really enjoys them. He usually cannot wait until a new one comes out. Great books for pre-teens and teenagers, you do not have to have cats or be obsessed with cats to enjoy her books.

As with all of the other books in the Warrior series, this book rates *tops*. The two women who write under the pseudo of Erin Hunter are to be applauded for their excellency in writing gentile books about animals, most especially cats. Am (not so) patiently waiting for the next book in the third series to arrive at my home. Thank you so much

I was a little disappointed. This booked seemed to lack the fire, excitement and originality previous books in the `Warriors' series had. But following `Dark River' almost anything would seem dull. Nevertheless, I'll buy the next book just to see where it goes. I'll follow it to the end. I'm hooked. I'm grateful to the whole series. My 10 year old granddaughter has devoured the series from `Into the Wild' through `Outcast'. She has read all 15 books in the `Warriors' series, plus two supplemental books `Firestar's Quest' and `Secrets of the Clans' in six months and is waiting anxiously for the next book. Prior to her reading `Into the Wild' she wasn't much of a reader. Now she reads everything she can get her hands on including other books and even granny's Reader Digest. Any book under 200 pages seems small to her; when before it would have seemed like a monumental task to read. If you are new to the series, begin with `Warriors-Into the Wild'. If you want to get a young reader (girl or boy) hooked on reading this is an excellent series to begin with.

i really love the way erin made the apprentices diffrent with bad and good qualities though icant find any tedeeming qualities in jaypaw

I have read all of Erins books several times over. In all of them I have laughed, cried and forgotten to breath. Not so in this book. There was little emotion except when Crowfeather visited Feathertails grave. I was glad when I was finished. It would never make me loose intrest in the complete series but it was a lack luster story over all. I think possibly there are too many Erins trying to write the same continious story line. It seemds as they were rushing through the entire book to get it done. There could have been a lot more written about the journey and maybe even a little background on the trespassing cats. I don't know, I was just disappointed considering how long I waited for the release. Let's see what the next book is like.

With the release of Outcast, the newest installment in the Warriors series, Erin Hunter seems to have finally gotten back into her groove, giving us a book that, dare I say it, actually rivals that of the original series. In fact, Power of Three has gotten off to a pretty good start. With The Sight, it was a bit lackluster but by far better then the last two books. Then with Dark River, the story seemed to pick up and get even better as the pages turned and now with the third book, I truley think Hunter has returned to her roots and produce a compelling read.

After the near break out of war between Windclan and Thunderclan, things appear to be returning to normal in the clan, though for our three protaganist things couldn't be anything but normal. Jaypaw still searches for answers on the ancient clan that once roamed the lake, while Hollypaw and Lionpaw strive towards becoming better warriors. And things couldn't be made easier with a newly made warrior determined to cause conflict, a mentor with a dark side, and a growing threat in the mountains that draws all three cats towards discovering their true destiney.

What I feel Outcast did was really pick up on the whole 'phrophecy' of this series, with plot details becoming more and more developed, long overdue questions finally being answered, and our three heroes finally beginning to take shape as true characters. So by far, this is the best one out of the series so far, and hopefully, the fourth will continue this momentum.

Once again, a must for all cat lovers and especially long time Warriors readers.

My daughter ( you may know her as Moonwhisker ) really loves the Warriors books. I decided to pick one up and read it- it name was Into The wild.At first, I suspected that these cat stories were meant for kids who loved animals like my daughter. Yet, when I read the first page, I was immediately in love with it. The first series was by far the best, the second series was okay, and the third series was... well, just okay. The second Warrioes book of the third series was awesome so I really looked forward to this book.
This is a very well written story that regains the true magic of Erin Hunter!

I enjoyed reading this book. It follows a good story line and is easy for children to enjoy. As the author of Jessica and the moonflower fairies also available on Amazon.com, I feel it is important to read many childrens books to get an idea of what kids like to read. My 13 year old daughter purchased this book and also enjoyed it.

I have read every Erin Hunters books. Everyone of them is better than the next, but outcast was spended. Erin Hunter has really out done herself and she needs to create more stories.

I thought that it was ok. The second book was better though. I like how the characters developed and how Breezepaw is in it more. But I thought that it felt like it wasn't realy about the tribe. It was like Erin Hunter didn't really care that the tribe lived or died. Lionpaw went a bit crazy at the end and I don' think the tribe should have conratulated him. And the story seemed to drag on a bit with the whole border thing.


But all in all I thought that it was an ok book and I'm still going to keep reading them.

Well, Warriors fans, this is it: Outcast has finally arrived. And let me start by saying that it was excellent! By far, this is the best of the Power of Three series thus far. The story line was intriguing, and overall, the plot of this newest Warriors series really began to come together. Aside from advancing the plot, our marvelous Erins also did some major character development in Outcast.

The trio really matured in this book, laying the grounds for more interesting problems (like outside of common question "Should we disobey orders and take matters into our own paws, or listen?") later in the series. Lionpaw isn't so goody-goody, and not so proud. It grows steadily obvious that fighting is his strong point. And Hollypaw is a bit obsessed with wanting to be leader (and still slightly irritating with her constant worrying), but she's really maturing too. Jaypaw is sill prickly, but not so annoying, and the parts of the book from his point of view were, in my opinion, the most interesting. I really liked the character development in this book... even Breezepaw seems to be maturing somewhat, and you get real insight as to why he's so obnoxious.

Anyway, I thought that this book was great. From an increasingly interesting plot (read to find out what happens!) to characters that truly begin to come to life, Outcast was a must-read for all Warriors fans!

Although it still doesn't compare to the first series, Outcast is the best in The Power of Three, with good character development and a "finally coming together" plot. Lionpaw and Jaypaw are becoming more balanced, and we finally get to see some of Honeypaw's personality. We also get to see a whole new side of Breezepaw, while Hollypaw doesn't change much at all - she still worries too much, and is still borderline Mary-sue. Stoneteller is shown in a whole new light, but the author could have gone more into the reprecussions of his behavior.

The whole gung-ho "Let's get together like old times" thing is getting old too. We didn't get to see much of the tribe and many of their cats remained a bit 2-D, not really showing all that much personality.
On the other hand, the conclusion was more realistic, with the characters aknowledging that the peace wouldn't last forever and that the tribe will have problems in the future.

Overall, an excellent book, though it still doesn't rank up there with the first six.

The author of Outcast (one of the Hunters, Cherith or Kate, can't remember which) seemed to take everything a large step further in this book. They answered questions like why Brook and Stormfur were banished from the Tribe, and where the Tribe originally came from. She also really stepped up the three cats' personalities, giving Hollypaw a sudden want for the position of leader, furthering Lionpaw's relationship with Tigerstar and Co., and pressing the full weight fo the prophecy on Jaypaw. He is desperate now to keep his siblings alive and fulfill this prophecy, giving him answers to everything he seeks. Ashfur's relationship with his apprentice has further degraded as well. I would certainly recommend this book, because it does manage to keep up with the flow of the series, something that can't be easy with two seperate authors.
