this has to be the most awesome book series yet while harry potter is one of my favorite books this comes whithin a two point close at second. i like how Mr. Riordan has everything packed into a couple hundred pages that means at every turn theres always something exciting happening. Mr. R. my favorite series about Olypians is denfinetiely this series. can't wait for the last one

My husband, 10 year old son and I have been following the Percy Jackson saga - and this latest installment did not disappoint. The old characters are back and though they are consistent there is appropriate growth. Plenty of new monsters, new obstacles, and a very satisfying continuation of the larger plot. We look forward to the next book!!!

Excellent adventure that my 12 year old son just loved. Full of mythological beasts and a fun read. Recommended

I bought the book for my 13 year old son - this is another series he has read and loves it. Again the only issue is he reads them too quickly! You cannot go wrong if your looking for something that holds a 13 year old boys interest.

Another stellar installment in the Percy Jackson series. The labyrinth details are inventive and fascinating and the revelation about Pan is though-provoking. These books are fun, funny, and educational. Keep 'em coming!

What a way to introduce kids to Greek Mythology. Each Percy Jackson book is better than the last. With all the crazy adventures Percy has in this book, it is fun to have a reference book handy to learn more about mythology. Once you start reading this book, it is hard to put down. After reading it a second time I'm only disappointed I have to wait so long for the next installment.

A must read in the Percy Jackson series! It has humor, action, adventure, drama. I am already anxious for Rick Riordan to publish the next one in the series.

Ever since I picked up the first Percy Jackson book, I knew he was the one for me. Percy is caring and brave.. and funny counts for something. I know lots of parents read these too. I have re-read and re-lived the whole series again, which makes me realize how great these books are. I have recommended them to anyone and everyone.
The fourth book didn't disapoint me. Although I won't give the full summary of the story (it's been a month since I read it), basically Percy goes to a new school, whcih has its share of trouble for him. Again, like all the other books, there is a quest. I found this quest to be the most exciting for me. There were lots of new characters introduced, like Hera, so I found that very awesome, since I have always liked Greek mythology.

Of course, as I am a true romantic, I found the blossoming romance between Annabetha and Percy addicting. I was literally flipping the pages, going "When do they meet again?" Annabeth kisses Percy at Mount St. Helens, therefore expressing her feelings for him, but Percy is too dense to realized that she does like him like that. He knows he is in love with her but his concentraion on thisdelicate matter is disrupted by the return of Rachel Elizabeth Dare and the landing of Percy on Calypso's island. Calypso is banished to this island because she helped the Titans in the big war. Every thousand years or so, the gods are cruel and send her a hero to nurse back to health. Calypso falls in love with them and begs them to stay, but they must return to their own world. They can never find the island again. Percy is very torn between staying and going to save the world, but eventually leaves. I was really sad actually he didn't stay with Calypso. Although I have always been a fan of Annabetha nd such, something about Calypso made me like her, maybe because she was so accepting. Then there is Rachel. Ahh, Rachel. Annabeth is very jealous of this girl as Percy keeps accidently running into her and is becoming one of her best friends. Matter of fact, Annabeth stalks off mad quite a few times in the presence of Percy and Rachel. Percy, dense as ever, doesn't realize why, but I don't think Rachel would ever take him from Annabeth. She knows waht he doesn't.

And here ends my review of the blossoming romance. I promise I'll be more critical with my next review, but I have troulbe remembering the action unless I just read it. Ohh, Percy Jackson fans: the movie is going to come out next year!! I'm excited of course. I would like to be Annabeth haha. I find her really cool. Sigh. I am not an actress however. So read this book, please!

Fourth book in the Percy Jackson series.

Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson set out to find the inventor Daedalus in the mysterious labyrinth that seems to have a life of its own. Their task is to find Daedalus and talk him out of helping Kronos. Grover is also given one last chance to find Pan before his searcher's license is revoked.

Many of the elements I loved in the first book are back in this one: the humor, the mythological references, and the edge-of-your-seat excitement as Percy goes from one dangerous situation to another. The ending is very much a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to reading the last book.

This is the 4th book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Although Rick Riordan writes each book so that it can stand alone, I would recommend reading them in order starting with the Lightning Thief. Anyone who is interested in mythology would find this series both entertaining and informative. Our whole family loves this series. Jesse Bernstein does a great job as the reader.

I was a little disappointed in The Titan's Curse, but this book ranks up there with the first. The pace is faster and is very exciting. I can't wait for the next one (and sadly the last). I am a middle school teacher, and this has been one of the few series that my male readers have enjoyed. One even bought his own copy about the time I bought mine.

This book was the best of the four in it's series. The book has many twists and turns so it is fun to read. I suggest that you get this book.

I enjoyed reading this with and to my son. The engaging character of Percy Jackson and those of his companions make this an interesting romp through modern myth, with the educational benefit of having visible roots in older myths. Do not pass these books by, as you will not regret reading a single one of them.

This book is so good i loved reading it! The only thing different would be that when percy is saying goodbye to annabeth at the end before he leaves camp he should have kissed her! But i would totally tell anyone to read this series if they wanted to know if it was any good!

Percy Jackson and his band of heroic friends continue their adventures their usual style. Grover and Tyson are our family's favorite characters.

This book and the whole Jackson and the Olympians series is the best! I'd recommend it to anyone. Educational, witty fastreader that kids and adults love.

THE BATTLE OF THE LABYRINTH is the fourth book of Rick Riordan's projected five-book opus, PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS. The series began with THE LIGHTNING THIEF and has constantly picked up steam as it's progressed. I've been reading the series to my son, and we're looking at the fifth and final book coming out next year with a mixture of anticipation and dread.

We want the next book. We want to know how everything turns out for Percy, Grover, Annabeth, and the rest, but we don't want the adventure to end. Riordan's imagination and zest for action is matched only by his wit and humor. We've become fans and end up talking about the books and Greek mythology quite often.

If you haven't read the series yet, you've missed out on a lot. And you'll probably want to stop reading this review now. Otherwise you're going to trip across some spoilers for the earlier three books. Riordan's books, Percy's adventures, are an organic tale, growing and adding to canon with each new volume. Things just don't stay the same in Percy's ever-changing world.

Well, nothing stays the same except Percy's continuing bad luck with schools. At the beginning of this one, Percy's mom has a new boyfriend that gets Percy into a well-respected school that Percy normally wouldn't have a shot at with his past record of suspicious destruction. Sure enough, almost as soon as Percy sets foot on school grounds, he's attacked by demonic cheerleaders (the empousai, from Greek myth) and the school BURNS.

I couldn't help laughing throughout the section as I read it. Friends of Percy are going to be blown away by the sequence even though they're expecting it. My son and I kept cracking each other up for days afterward. These books just keep on giving!

The book turns more serious, to a degree, when Luke's plans to invade Camp Half-Blood are revealed. Luke, Percy's arch-enemy, is still trying to bring the Titan Kronos back to life so he can wreak vengeance against the Greek gods. Camp Half-Blood, because it houses and trains so many of the demi-gods - the children of the gods with mortal parents, is a prime target.

As always, Riordan establishes the roots of his story in traditional Greek myth. This one deals with Daedalus, the famed inventor that created the Labyrinth that housed the Minotaur. According to Riordan's story, the Labyrinth has become - to a degree - a living thing that continues growing throughout the world and time. I loved the concept and my son was totally engrossed in the idea that the world was honeycombed with magical tunnels. This is the kind of thinking I've come to rely on the author for.

There are other adventures that take place before Percy, Annabeth, and Grover find an opening to the Labyrinth and climb down inside it, but once they're in place the adventure kicks into high gear. They're chasing after Nico, the son of Hades, that no one else at the camp knows about. Percy feels guilty about the death of Nico's sister and doesn't want everyone weirding out about the younger boy. Percy still believes he has a chance to set things straight between him and Nico.

Grover's situation has gotten more dire regarding his hunt for the god, Pan. With all the failures Grover has racked up, the satyr community is thinking about pulling Grover's searcher's license, which means he can't continue hunting for Pan. A lot of things are at stake in this one.

Tyson, Percy's Cyclopean half-brother, stars in this one as well. I have to admit, Tyson is one of my favorite characters in the books. Tyson, with all his childish innocence, has won a special place in the hearts of my son and I. Every time Tyson's on stage we're just waiting to see what he's going to say or do. In this one, Tyson gets to meet Briares, one of the Hundred-Handed Ones, an ancient from Greek myth. Briares's reaction to his jailer is hilarious and I don't want to spoil it, but my son and I went around doing it for days, to the point my wife believed we'd taken leave of our senses. She hasn't quite gotten into the Olympian view yet.

In addition to all the great imagery and dialogue, Riordan continues piling on the Greek mythology in this one. I love how he twists it and brings it into our world. And he dangles each cliffhanger and reveal of the plot with evident glee and precise precision. This next year of waiting is going to be a long one.

This is an amazing book series, where humor and information meet. Younger kids and adults alike can learn about classic Greek mythology while constantly wondering what new plot twist will happen next. The Battle of the Labyrinth is the 4th in the series, and has tied up some loose ends. Humor lovers will love this series.

This book was great, all three of my daughters and I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series.

My son is captivated by the Percy Jackson series. Greek mythology and 10 year old boys are a match made in heaven! Captivating!

I have been looking for a book that would spark my sons interest and make him want to read. I was lucky to find a series. We read the first book together and he was hooked.(So was I.) I found myself reading ahead of him and befor I knew it I had finished all four books. He doesn't know and I'm not going to tell him. I am actually excited to read it again with him. I find the character of Percy very likable and very human. I am amazed how quickly you became drawn to this boy, his friends and his dysfunctional family. Gods or not we all have someone in our families that we see in some of his. I am a new and loyal fan and I cant wait until the next chapter of this awsome saga is released. If you are a parent of a child who thinks out of the box and needs a hero, you may just find one in Percy Jackson.

This book is the fourth in the series by Percy Jackson. I love this series because the plot follows the good guy coming of age fighting himself and the bad guy format. His friends help him with both. I know the storyline is similar to the Harry Potter series and maybe that is another reason I love them. I can't wait for the next publication.

This is an awesome series and has my 4th/5th grader hooked completely. He now knows more about mythology than I do and could teach me a thing or two.

My 12 year old son loved this book, he finished it in 3 days. He has also read all of the others in the series and can not wait for the next one to come out. He does NOT like to read but it is mantatory in his school to read a book every 2 weeks, so when we discovered this series, it was a blessing.

My duaghter startted reading as soon as it came. She could not put it down. She had the book finished in 3 days. That is a new record for her.

LOVED IT!! I was taking a stab in the dark when I started reading the first Percy Jackson book. I've not had a moment of disappointment since! I've very much enjoyed every book, including this last one. I'd recommend the entire series to anyone who enjoys an exciting and fun story.

This is an excellent book in a wonderful series. I am a librarian and I could not wait for the library copy so I preordered on Amazon. We had to put our names in a hat to pick who read it first that is how much our family loves the series. My children are 11 and 16 and they both read it in a few days.

It is exciting and funny. All the favorite characters are back and a few new ones. We can't wait for the next one!

My three kids were slobbering over the Amazon package when it arrived and couldn't wait to tell dad that THE book had finally arrived. We've been in count-down mode since we finished book 3. Each night as we read, my husband would come to the end of a chapter and everyone would BEG for him to read just another chapter. I have three daughters (7,9 and 11), but this series would please boys equally well. I have thouroughly enjoyed the stories myself. What a wonderful vehicle for kids to access the ancient Greek myths. This story addresses Daedalus and the Labyrinth. HIGHLY recommend. Now, we have a new count-down waiting for Mr. Riordan's imagination to transport us to New York City and the gods.

This is a very good book and i only reccomend it if you have read the first 3 books.

My 5th grade son loves this series, and the great thing is that I genuinely enjoy these books as well. Battle of the Labyrinth is no exception; it's a fun, modernized way to learn stories from Greek mythology, and because we're both so enthusiastic about them, it's a wonderful way to connect with him. Sometimes we read together, but more often than not, he can't put the book down once he picks it up and I'm perpetually behind him in the story! I'm also a teacher at a 6-12 urban school, and the students at the middle school level love this series. A definite winner for kids from late elementary to middle school age, the books in this series have won multiple awards, including Children's Choice Book Awards, and Battle of the Labyrinth is bound to follow suit.

If you like reading books that don't bore you to death then Battle of the Labyrinth is just the book to read, especially if your into mythology. Full of action packed fun and even a bit of humor here and there Battle of the Labryinth picks ups a couple of months after "Titan's Curse" when Percy goes to his freshman orientation and it goes terribly bad. But I won't say anymore. So if you like books with action and a cliff hanger the Battle of the Labyrinth is the book you should read. I also recomend books 1-3.

Riordan continues with his amazing ability to put ordinary, ADHD & dyslexic Percy Jackson into amazing scenarios only known through Greek Mythology. The book is action-packed from page 3... Percy continues his friendships and adventures- I can't wait for book 5!
Definitely a must for Potter fans~ it lives up to the same "everday misfit realizes his true potential and calling" storyline.

My son has read each book in this series from Rick Riordan. He has loved each one. We pre-ordered this book because he loved the other ones so much and it arrived the day it was released -- my son was thrilled. This series has been instrumental in keeping his interest in read alive and well. When it comes to elementary school boys, I believe you have to do whatever it takes to keep them interested and excited about reading.

Rick Riordan has done it again. Another brilliantly witty and wonderful book in the Percy Jackson series. Percy is growing up, becoming a young man and his powers are becoming almost more than he can control. I simply cannot wait for the next one!

As a middle school teacher I highly recommend to all teachers and students the 4th book in the Percy Jackson series: Battle of the Labyrinth. For all those who like mythology this is a must read.

I'm a Mom of 4 and trying to find books that interest each child has been difficult. The Rick Riordan books have captivated my 11 year old son for quite some time now. We find ourselves waiting until the next one is to be ordered. Rick Riordan brings the Greek Gods to modern day earth. My son now is very captivated with learning about mythology as well. This book definately is a spark for boys.

There is nothing to dislike about this 4th entry in the Percy Jackson series. The action, dialogue, suspense, and humor are plentiful. The mixing of ancient gods with current culture is well-done and insightful.

Best of all, everyone in my family plowed right through the book and had some great conversations about the situations and problems that arose.

Read this instead of seeing Prince Caspian at the multiplex.

This is book four of the Percy Jackson series, with only one more installment to come. Readers from around ten years old will be thrilled by the adventures of the teenaged hero who just happens to be the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea, and all his friends, most of whom are the children of the Olympians from Greek Mythology.

In my opinion, it would be better if you read the series in order, and the three previous books are:

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1)

The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 3)


In "The Battle of the Labyrinth", Percy and three friends set off on a quest through the treacherous labyrinth, in search of the inventor Daedalus, hoping that he will help them to defeat the army being assembled by Luke, son of Hermes. The thing is - Luke is just the messenger, and the evil he's about to unleash can bring down Olympus itself.

Although still clueless about girls and relationships, Percy starts developing and unleashing his powers, and surprises even himself when he attempts to repeat Hercules' great stable cleansing project. Other demi-gods also come into their own in book four, and a mortal girl proves to be just the ticket, and in the nick of time too. In a related sub-story, the search for Pan reaches an exhilarating climax.

Packed with monsters of all persuasions, gods and demi-gods, rescues, battles and side trips to Alcatraz and Mount St. Helens, this is by far the most exciting book of the series so far.

Amazingly imaginative, thrilling and funny, this series by Rick Riordan continues to be a front runner in children's fiction, and I recommend it without reservation.

Percy Jackson is difficult to deal with from a parental perspective. Of course, one issue is that he is a teenager. Another is the fact that he is a half blood thanks to being the son of the sea god, Poseidon. Then, there is that whole blowing up the school issue which happens on a fairly regular basis.

The last is what he is pretty much known for but he doesn't want to destroy schools. He doesn't wake up and plan to destroy a school. It just happens. With Percy's planned attendance at an orientation at Goode High School on East 81st in New York City as the novel opens, mother and son are both a bit worried. There is extra pressure this time because mom's boyfriend, Paul Blofis pulled strings from his position as English teacher to get Percy accepted to Goode High School where he will begin the ninth grade in the fall despite Percy's history of being kicked out of every school he has ever attended. The plan is to attend the orientation, get out before anything happens, and go spend the summer at the Half Blood Camp. Everything would have been fine too except for one small problem.

Demonic cheerleaders.

The two cheerleaders wanted Percy dead in the worst way and didn't care what happened to the mortals that got in their way or the building itself. When all is said and done, Percy is on the run again headed for the Half Blood Camp. Not only will he have to clear his name yet again, but this time is going to have to go into the Labyrinth to delay Kronos who is building his army to take over the world and the modern day Mount Olympus.

This latest installment in the series is another action filled, often funny, read for both teenagers and adults. Greek mythology is again brought to noisy life by author Rick Riordan who draws parallels and links between the ancient myths and the modern world. While telling a great story, he continues to frequently satire various matters involving politics and education. Parents in Texas especially will appreciate the hilarious section involving the sphinx, the revised policy on the riddle, and TAKS as well as the No Child Left Behind Act. It's simply "exemplary" writing to be enjoyed and should be posted in every classroom across the state.

As he has done so well before, author Rick Riordan (who also authored the very good Tress Navarre mystery series) has penned another installment that while good in its own right is a small cog in the series arc detailing the coming epic battle with Kronos. Character development is secondary as the characters have been well established by this point. Instead, the focus is action. Therefore, the ongoing issue of Percy's prophecy is briefly touched on to remind readers with the main focus being the here and now as the battle of Labyrinth is a minor skirmish in the build up to the Great War. The war is coming and is should really be something.
