|
Spiderwick fans will adore this gorgeous guidebook to the fantastical creatures featured in Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi's spectacular series. The superdeluxe, lavishly illustrated "field guide" features 142 information-packed pages, 41 full-color plates, 6 spectacular gatefolds, 6 watercolor landscapes, scores of black-and-white and color sketches, and enough information to satisfy even the most demanding faerie enthusiast. Not only will readers learn all about the 14 fantastical creatures featured in the series, but they'll be delighted and astonished by an additional 15 creatures featured in this elaborate volume--including mermaids, gargoyles, and more. And if that weren't enough, we've included dozens of snippets from Arthur Spiderwick's personal journal--information that links the Guide specifically to the Spiderwick Chronicles--as well as cameos from a few of the series' favorite characters.

I bought this for my almost 6 yr old daughter to have while away at my parents' house for a week. Not only did she enjoy it, she was encouraged to go out doors and find her own fantastical creatures. She had such a great time 'seeing' the same creatures that are in the book, but in her own environment. She keeps it with her constantly to ensure that the ogre cannot get it.. It has really opened her imagination up...plus, I enjoy looking at it with her. Worth the money to have it in her collection along with the other Spiderwick books we already have.

I gave this to my grandson for his 9th birthday after reading the five book set of the Spiderwick Chronicles together. He absolutely loved it!! He put it in his backpack and carried it to school to share with his friends. It inspired him to create his own fieldguide. Anything that encourages reading, art, and sharing is a wonderful gift to give. The art is beautiful, the pages are thick, the entire book is well made. I bought a second to keep at my house for my other two grandchildren to peruse.

I bought this for my little girl who loves the Spiderwick Chronicles. After paging through it, I was blown away by the illustrations. This would make a great coffee table book for an adult who isn't too hung up on keeping a mature image. The art in this book is better than what you find framed in most homes.

A wonderful book with fantastic artwork that will surely spark creativity with your children. An identification of old and new world characters associated with fables you heard growing up. Great fun.
