| 90 Minutes In Heaven: A True Story of Death & Life | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

As a born-again Christian who believes in the existence of Heaven, I was severely disappointed in this book. Very few pages are actually about the author's '90 minutes in Heaven.' 95% of the book chronicles the recovery of the author's accident. With all due respect, I don't care to read about the recovery of a car accident victim. That is not why I purchased the book.
This one was a disappointment. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-27 02:08:38 EST)

This book was very inspirational for me. At first I was a little disappointed, since I had just finished reading 23 minutes in Hell and hoped this book would paint as vivid a picture of heaven as 23 minutes in hell painted of hell.
There were a few descriptions involving his time in heaven but the book focused more on Don Piper's recovery. I'm amazed at how much pain and suffering Don went through during his long recovery. He also experienced severe depression during the first part of his recovery. I could relate to some parts of his experience since I was on dialysis for four years and was fortunate enough to have a kidney transplant January of this year. I thought I experienced pain when I was on dialysis but it was nothing compared to the pain Don experienced during his recovery. As Don pointed out, he experienced excruciating pain and suffering, but it's was nothing compared to the pain and suffering Jesus Christ went through for us. I recommend reading this book by those that are curious about heaven, however I think it would make an excellent gift for anyone going through a long recovery or some sort of trial with your health (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-22 00:17:46 EST)

This book is amazing. It is hard to believe that it is true, that someone has seen heaven and returned to life on earth. Although the Bible reveals people who have died and were raised from the dead, there has been no actual description of what heaven is really like from them. I guess the Good Lord thought that a brief description was needed in our world at this time.

Although he often tries to act humble, you get the feeling that Mr. Piper is actually quite self-centered and a bit arrogant. I was particularly turned off by his judgmental attitude toward non-Christians. I personally don't believe Piper actually saw Heaven. I think he never really died and was just hallucinating.

My son recently died and this book gave me comfort. I wanted him to be in peace and have some idea what he went through as he was dying. I liked that I may see him again. I truly needed that for my heath and survival.
I am thankful for the book and where God is in the auther's life. Susan (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-13 00:16:45 EST)

Just a bunch of silly religious crap (can I say crap?). Are we really suppose to believe that heaven conveniently fits all of the Christian expectations and that only good "Christians" get in??? The part that I thought was amusing was when he described heaven's "gates." Heaven's gates are as far as he could see in both directions and as high as he could see up. I thought, as I read, that his face was plastered against the dash and he could not move his head....so....he was most likely looking at the crushed dashboard....just a thought....
Save your money or buy "Conversations with god" if you want some sort of minor religious experience... (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-11 00:17:39 EST)

I read almost half of this book even though long before that I knew something was wrong with it. It's not my opinion of this book that matters but what God's word has to say about the things Mr. Piper says and describes.
First of all, Piper said "I didn't see Jesus" when he was in "heaven." Wouldn't Jesus be the first person one would see? Wouldn't He be the first one we would WANT to see? The Savior who loves us so much and died for our sin, wouldn't He be there at the gate, waiting for us when we come home? Piper's description of heaven was weak and left me cold. It was like a large family reunion that had little to do with God or utter amazement of being in heaven. Don Piper's story contradicts the Bible where God has said it is "appointed to man ONCE to die and then comes the judgment." When a person dies, they don't come back. That's what the Bible says. They go to hell if they rejected God's salvation or they go to heaven if they accepted it. The Apostles Paul and John saw heaven by the direct leading of God but they didn't die in order to see it. They were very much alive and aware. Paul was told he was not allowed to describe what he saw. So, why was Piper? John was told to write what he was shown and guess what? John also saw Jesus Christ when he was taken up to heaven. He saw the Lamb on His throne and he saw the angels giving Him glory. It was a place of amazing holiness, permeated by the presence of Christ. Christ was the center of the heaven that John saw and wrote about. What a staggering contrast between that and the "heaven" described by Piper. This is what Jesus Christ said of heaven: "Eye has not seen nor ear heard what God has prepared for those that love Him." Outside of what John was told to write, we know very little of what heaven looks like. Jesus did not describe heaven as a place of gold streets and gates of pearl. Scripture makes it clear that heaven is the place of God's throne, that it is a holy place. Jesus Christ described hell in detail and talked about it more than he did heaven. What Don Piper described was not heaven but the New Jerusalem described in the book of Revelation--a place that has not yet been fully made and which will one day be brought down to the earth AFTER the millennial reign of Christ. The New Jerusalem is not heaven but Scripture says that it will come down out of heaven. Don Piper did not see the New Jerusalem because it has not yet been revealed from heaven (except by John's description) and Piper did not see the heaven where God is right now because Scripture contradicts his story. I don't know why Piper wrote this book and said all these things or why it took him over a decade to decide to write it. Maybe he has been deceived and really believes he had some kind of experience. But, remember, many unsaved people have had "heavenly" experiences too and supposedly come back to tell about it. The Bible is clear that the unsaved will not see heaven, yet many of them have described what they think was heaven. Whenever any man contradicts God's word, we need to side with what God said and leave the rest alone. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-11 00:17:39 EST)

The out of body experience covered about 4 pages and that was it really. The rest of the book just chronicled the trauma and recovery from the terrible injuries from the accident. Although, this was a terrible time for the author, the main thing was supposed to be about the OBE. Well that's why I bought the book. I would have thought 90 minutes in heaven would have given more insights into the next world. I was rather disappointed. I don't want to put down the traumatic experience of the author but the book was about his physical recovery rather than about any insights into what happens when we leave this mortal place.

I'm amazed at how insane religious "faith" is. I grew up Catholic but as soon as I was old enough to reason for myself (around 1st grade), I started to realize that the bible was nothing but fiction. For those who take it literally, I can only extend my sympathy. That being said, can anyone have a more cliched version of heaven? Angels wings beating, beautiful music and pearlescent gates? And wouldn't it get boring just doing what he described for eternity?!! Also, supposing there is any truth to this, what happens when you meet up with friends that never got along on earth...suddenly, everything is great? Heaven sounds incredibly boring, kind of like going to church but having the mass last forever. And if I had to spend eternity with the likes of Don Piper and the rest of those bible thumpers, I'd have to try and figure out a way to send my soul to oblivion, or even hell for that matter...Let's face it, as much as we'd like to believe otherwise, and also that Big Foot and Santa Claus are real, when our lives end, we're worm food. I'd like to believe there's more to life than this but even if there is, I don't think it's anything like Don Piper and the rest of the fundamentalists describe any more than we'll be enjoying 40 virgins (although that's more to my liking personally than what Don described). But if believing in a religion and afterlife provides comfort and moral guidance (kind of like thimb sucking for adults), then go ahead. Unfortunately, I never drank the kool aid.

Not well written at all. Constantly repeating the same thing over and over. It's terrible that this man was injured, but page after page of him constantly stating how much pain he was in got old fast. I made it halfway through the book, but when I got to the part where he had some staples removed and had to steel himself from "screaming at the top of my lungs", because he couldn't remember hurting that excruciatingly His words), I gave up. An entire page devoted to getting some simple staples out? It just goes on and on. I had hoped for some insight into Heaven, but all I got was a poorly written story of a guy with a very low pain threshold. Best of luck to Don Piper, but stay out of the book writing business. I wish I could get my money back.

90 Minutes in Heaven
This is truly a wonderful read. It completely changed my view of dying into a sense of peace about what is ahead. I could not put it down once I started reading. I have a great respect for Don Piper after what he endured after his accident. He is truly a man of great faith. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-01 01:16:50 EST)

I very much enjoy reading books concerning the "other side" and metaphysical studies. This book however completely turned me off. I understand the author is a preacher but there was entirely too much of a "sermon" undertone to the book. His description of heaven is like a description of Sunday church...just a bunch of people singing praise to God all day. I find it hard to believe we have such a conceited God that our only purpose in the afterlife would be to worship Him all day long. His description of heaven is too vague and repetitive. It reminded me of writing a school report that had to be a certain number of pages...you just keep rephrasing the same thing to fill up space. This is exactly what the book is...filler. I forced myself to read through the end of his description of heaven and immediately put the book down and have not looked at it since. Mr. Piper is not only a poor writer whose sentences are elementary and trite but he is also a poor Christian who is trying to mislead readers into purchasing his book for his own financial gain.

The Dummy
I too read '90 Minutes in Heaven' cover-to-cover and I am hardly religious. While some of the description of heaven almost sounds traditional (music, gates, gold streets) the good feeling I received from this book triumphs those. The idea of seeing my friends who passed on too young and too long ago brought all of their memories back in a flash. Do I believe? I want to, but I do know that we all will have that answered and maybe sooner than we think. I do wish Don had spent more pages describing heaven, but the lead up to and the aftermath of his accident is also relevant to the story. Miracle or not, most of us want more knowledge not only of the physical that surrounds us but also that which we can't see until we get there. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-01 01:16:50 EST)

I lost my husband in a car accident in March 2006. This audio gives me more strength & knowledge knowing that my husband, soul mate & best friend IS in HEAVEN !!
This is my 2nd order for this audio & I have it being sent to a friend in MS. that took care of her mother & lost her recently. This audio really helps put your life in perspective when you are feeling really lost & don't know what to do or how to feel. I would love to be able to meet Don Piper. His other audio called "Heaven is Real" is a must listen also !! I am getting ready to listen to them both again & have our granddaughter listen to them so she has a better understanding of her grandpa being in Heaven. Thank you Don Piper for creating these audios for us t listen to !! I have been recommended these to alot of people & thanks to our daughter Amber who is reading the book & told me about this !! A severely injured man hallucinates that he went to heaven and chilled out up there for an hour and a half. This is obviously 100% true because it is compelling to people who believe in that and don't want to believe that it was a hallucination caused by intense stress. If you fell for this then you probably watch a lot of sitcoms.

Loved the book. Arrived in the afternoon. I knew as soon as I opened it, I would read it all right then. God always has a plan, maybe not yours or mine but his. I flew through the words and the message. It's not an easy read as far as what this precious man had to physically go through but his message is so clear. We all have a purpose in this world. Blessings!

I saw this book, and started to read it in the store. I could not put it down! I will NOT put GOD in a "box" and say HE can't do this or that, HE is GOD and if he wants to raise a man from the dead, (Jesus raised Lazarus after being dead 4 days) I believe HE can do exactly that! This is not an isolated, one of a kind occurrence, God has allowed many to visit Heaven, and some to visit hell. They all come back and tell us the same thing, (Heaven is good, hell is bad) Make the right decision and go to Heaven. What's wrong with that? I must disagree with "Tim Challies",, and say "Who's side are you on?" Toward the end of the book, we find the author bringing comfort to people, answering questions about Heaven for hurting people, I say what's wrong with this? Oh, it doesn't fit "YOUR" doctrine,, well, be careful,, God may take you some where to show YOU something, and you may not like the experience either! But as I said before, God is God, and He Can and WILL do anything HE wants with "YOU" for HIS Glory!!! I recommend this book to everyone, I think it's a great tool for comfort and reassurance, and God's Great Love for us!!! --Jon

This book was recommended by my husband's best friend's wife after my husband went to Heaven. It gave me peace to know that my Jerry was where Don Piper was and that he is now at peace. Jerry is now with the many family members and friends who had went before him. This is a must read for anyone who has lost someone or feels lost themselves.

This book is a wonderful story of what a man experienced when he was dead for 90 minutes, and eventually pulled back from heaven by paramedics. It is a short, great read. Consider giving it as a gift to someone who has just lost a spouse, a relative or a friend. It makes the death experience seem very real and something for all to look forward to.
It is an awesome book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-09 00:17:38 EST)

I found Don's book very rivoting. A similar thing happened to me and truly know what he went through. What bothered me was the editing sloppyness, where sentances were broken up badly, and few new sentances began with a capital letter. I'm detail oriented and wanted to find a way to make the corrections myself. Had I known how to make the corrections I would have done so.

This book is a genuine rip-off. It contains one rather small section to fulfill the title, and tells you almost nothing about heaven. The title is a great sale pitch in order to sell and get your money. If I could get a refund on this book and Piper's second, I'd return them both in a heartbeat. Whatever, you are only wasting your money if you purchase it!!!

Pulling at many of the heart strings that surround our very human existence, this book is a moving testimony about one man's experience with a near death experience and heaven. Yet this is only the tip of the iceberg. This book is not a theologic treatise on heaven or really even salvation. What you get is a man's testimony about how through dying and experiencing heaven, his life was changed for the better. This is despite all the hardship, pain, depression, and heartache, Don Piper experienced.
This book is more about being joyful in all situations and reaching out to others. Trusting in a God who has a plan for us. I for one was moved by many of the stories Don Piper tells us about how he interacts with many people who are sufferred as he did, facing death, or trying to comprehend the death of a loved one. While he doesn't go into the details of Heaven, he speaks authoritatively that Heaven is real. He may have the t-shirt but I don't find him jumping up and down about it in a bragadoccio manner. Instead of spinning a tale of Heaven, he tends to go into the beauty of relationship and the mysterious ways that people come in and out of your life. There is a sense of purpose that just seems to coincidental to be random. This is a great book of a man's testimony about his relationship with God. He was brought through death's gate and came back to proclaim about the hope he has. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-23 02:34:32 EST)

the story of the author's healing was truly amazing.
However his limited spiritual background shows thru. He experienced only what he expected except for the fact that he never saw Jesus. Absence of the body, presence of the Lord. Betty Eadie's experience in Embraced by the Light was far more profound. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-23 02:34:32 EST)

Although this book was not exactly what I thought it was, I enjoyed it just the same. The author's experience with visiting heaven is fascinating and lovely. Most of the book however, is actually about his recovery and discoveries post his heavenly experience, which makes sense since his time in heaven was reportedly quite short. His experience in heaven changed him, and gave hope to others who have lost loved ones. It also gives hope to those who are struggling with any number of life's difficulties. His story is beliveable, nicely written, and I highly recommend it.

I'm a Christian and I just finished reading this for a book club. I was very disappointed. I had heard warnings about this book, but I wanted to believe it would be worth my time. I also tried hard to sympathize with Don Piper because I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster of experiencing heaven and then years of emotional and physical pain on earth. I was inspired by the little lessons he learned, but he seemed to forget them as quick as he learned them. He continued to whine throughout the whole book. His arrogance and pride dripped through every page. His admittance of these poor character qualities, but refusal to change them only made it that much harder to enjoy his story. If that wasn't bad enough, the co-writer must have been too intimidated to speak up to Mr. Piper about the redundancies and inability to really explain anything other than to say, "I can't explain it." In the end Don Piper states that he didn't want to write this book. That is exactly how I felt as a reader, like he really didn't want to share this with me, but he felt like he had to. I'm not sure what people with positive comments see in this story. I feel sorry for his wife. I would love to read a story from her view point. She must be a saint.

There are much better books out there that describe NDEs far more satisfyingly. They're not so heavy on the Christian religious aspect, and ALL of them are more inspiring than this little book, which has some marked flaws; I regret wasting time and money on it.
Piper's account of his NDE is not the typical one. Fair enough; all of these experiences are not exactly alike. But a couple of things really bothered me: Why was the 2nd pastor passing the wreck "told by God" to pray for the guy who was "dead"? If God really wanted Piper alive to tell his story of what Heaven is like, would He not be perfectly capable of sending Piper back into his ruined body without the intercession of prayer? The whole business about "praising God" bothers me. Odd sort of God here; very vain, and moved only by the praise and prayers of humans even when taking action would be in His self-interest? Is this typical of Baptist beliefs? Also, I found the author downright unlikable, based on his own words. He admits what he views as his personal flaws -- denying people the chance to minister to him, always wanting to appear in control. But those flaws are, in essence, compliments to his own inner strength and lack of selfishness, so they ring a bit hollow. There are other faults he misses that aren't so self-congratulatory. I felt particularly sorry for his wife. He was inordinately proud of her when she managed to purchase a van. How hard is it to negotiate purchasing a vehicle? Also, when he began to recover and started to complain about the way his wife was doing things, she commented, "He must be getting better because he's criticizing me again." The author interpreted this differently than I would have. I saw a wife who viewed her overly critical husband as returning to his normal, overly critical self. What a lucky gal! When they would disagree, he'd eventually try to console her with "I know you did the best you could" -- the unspoken implication being that she was incapable of NOT messing up, at least in his eyes. Yikes, does she have some sort of mental deficiency? Or does he simply not treat her with the respect he should? And did he ever clue in to THAT fault? If he did, the reader is never told. If I were a complete cynic, I'd be tempted to see this whole thing as an attempt to take a physical and financial tragedy to the bank. (He makes the point that the state of Texas paid a small portion of his medical bills after a trial, and notes with a touch of bitterness that HIS tax dollars went to defend the inexperienced truck driver who hit his car on a rainy road. PETTY.) My inner cynic would see it as a Christian preacher deciding LONG after the fact to talk about his NDE, crafting an account to omit anything that might not support Christian beliefs, and highlighting parts that would support the stereotypical conception of the Christian Heaven. But I'm not cynical enough to be absolutely certain that's what happened. Also, maybe some people have taken comfort from this book, and that's a good thing -- which is the only reason I give it 2 stars instead of one. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-19 00:19:26 EST)

A Baptist preacher, from Texas, leaves the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) and has a horrific accident on his return trip to Houston. This book does not primarily deal with heaven, as the title implies. The book is primarily about the accident and the author's long road to recovery in the aftermath of the accident.
Disclaimer: I do believe that the author (Don Piper) is a Christian man who genuinely believes the "heavenly" experience that he describes in his book. So, I don't intend to assault his character by admitting my skepticism regarding certain aspects of his book. Yet, I cannot help but be skeptical. Many of us - who call ourselves "believers" - yearn for validation or a sneak peak of the great beyond which fits our notion of what we think is heaven. To some degree, perhaps this describes the sales figures, best seller designation (now on audio CD), and other accolades that further sell copies of Mr. Piper's book. Who wouldn't want a preview of what some of us feel, hope, and believe is the destiny of our soul? My reasons for purchasing the book were very personal. My father recently died from an extended battle with cancer. He and I were exceptionally close, and his death was devastating to me. Looking for comfort and solace, I read the very excellent "Tracks of a Fellow Struggler" by John R. Claypool. However, I still yearned for more information - something/anything - that might help soothe my grieving heart (along with the bible). My search led me to "90 Minutes in Heaven", which seemed to mostly get positive reviews - at the time that I made the purchase. Unfortunately, only about 15 pages or so of this book is devoted to the author's tales of heavenly experience. The vast majority of the book is devoted to Mr. Piper's terrible automobile accident and the subsequent, very lengthy recovery. I think that the best way to describe my disappointment would be to say that this book doesn't focus on heaven, really. The focus is all about the author - a human being like you and I. Although the circumstances of his accident were awful, I sort of feel like the author has cashed in - at our (the readers) - expense. The book has merit in detailed descriptions of the power of prayer. Yet, there are many passages where the author makes narcissistic comments. For example, in one passage, the author says "I knew that I wasn't going to die" [because] "God's people wouldn't let me". I couldn't help but consider the violence and suffering in our world, today and then wonder if that's okay with "God's people". Of course, I know better, and I'm happy that the author's experience, recovery, and prosperity have turned out so well for him. He's been blessed, it seems. However, I take issue with marketing a book entitled "90 Minutes in Heaven". It may have been 90 minutes for the author, but for the reader, it is significantly less (15 of 205 pages, to be exact). To me, that's cashing in on a title, pure and simple. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-19 00:19:26 EST)

I loved the emotional honesty and messages of faith in this book.
God is real. This book has much to offer people who are interested in a glimpse of heaven and how God makes living with pain meaningful. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-16 00:19:17 EST)

Jesus you people are idiots. The man was not dead. Here we have EMTs in some godforsaken Texas county that doesn't even have a coroner feeling this poor man's wrist pulse and not detecting it and pronouncing him dead. Level of education and training, anyone? Any first-year medical student could tell you that the absence of a manually detectable pulse is very far from evidence of death. They should be fired and sued for neglecting his care based on such cursory examination. A living body in shock and maybe coma can display no manually detectible pulse. He was alive the whole time and dreaming. Let him tell us something about his experience that is verifiable but that we cannot otherwise know, then we could believe him. Very convenient that both he and his prayer-buddy are Baptist ministers. I wonder what a Hindu or Bhuddist or atheist would have reported in the same circumstances. Don't be so gullible.

Given the title of this book, I purchased it thinking it would be at least primarily about the author's time in Heaven. I was very disappointed at how little the "time in Heaven" actually figured into the book. It was almost entirely about the author's extended recovery period. I might have enjoyed the book if I had not felt that the title was deliberately misleading.
I also found that the small amount of time actually devoted to the time the author was in Heaven left me cold. If I were writing a fiction book and wanted to portray Heaven (having never seen it) I would probably write almost exactly what was in this book, i.e. the fabulous colors, the wonderful music and seeing loved ones who have gone on before. I kept thinking, "Tell me something I don't know!" From my experience with this book I have learned a valuable lesson. I will never again purchase such a book online. I will visit a local book store where I can browse through each book purporting to have "insider" knowledge of Heaven before purchasing it. I was all set to LOVE this book. What a letdown! People, people! If you are looking for a lengthy discussion of the afterlife, don't bother. The title of this book is misleading, as indeed there is only one beautiful chapter on being in heaven. However, please don't pass it by. The miracles begin when a minister, stuck in the traffic caused by this horrific accident, gets an internal message to go the side of a mangled, already deceased man, in his car and pray incessantly for him. This part alone is worth the price of the book (anyone else picturing a movie here?). The miracles continue as the victim, a minister himself, is forced to surrender to an excruciating and lengthy process of healing (his description of hell) worsened by depression and self-pity. I was touched by how this very broken man, whose memory of heaven is so vivid he has lost his will to do the earthly fight, is brought back from the dead many times, by the prayer vigils of loving friends to the elderly minister who gets in his face and tells him its time to end the pity party...This is a excruciating read at times as we re-grow bones and faith along with him, but is brimming with big spiritual lessons on how a human soul works his way out of the pitch black darkness bit by bit toward the light...with the help of a faith in God, brilliant medical staff and especially the loving "angels" who refuse to let him give up. You will be treated to more than 90 minutes of Heaven, if you, like me, enjoy reading about miracles of human triumph over incomprehensible pain and tragedy.

This is not the full version of this book. It is only excerpts from the book by the same title. This was not clear when I purchased 2 copies of it. I feel like I was ripped off.

I loved 90 Minutes in Heaven: the True Story of Life Beyond Death; it's a thought-provoking, comforting book. 90 Minutes in Heaven: the INSPIRING Story of Life Beyond Death, though not noted as an excerpt, provides only 5 chapters of the original 19 and misses the complete arc of Mr. Piper's story.

My experience in reading this book was moving, emotional, breathtaking, heart wrenching and it made me feel like was right there with Don Piper. I had been interested in getting this book, when a friend surprised me with it. I wanted to read it right then and there but was unable to. When I did get a chance to read it, I was hooked from the first page and read it in only 2 hours!
I was very moved and awe struck by Don's description of heaven with the very vivid details that he described it to be. I was also very moved by not only his description, but rather how a fellow pastor was praying for him and he hear the hymn " What A Friend We Have In Jesus" This book does have mixed reveiws on the net, but it has sold over 3 million copies of it so it had to be good. That is one of the many reasons that I wanted the book. The other reason is that it shows what the power of prayer and having faith in God can do. As for the miracles that are in the book, I call them just that, miracles. I loved this book and I would recommend this to anyone that wants to read a good book. Whether your a beleiver or not, this book will open your eyes and heart to what will become.....instead of 90 minutes in heaven.....enternity in heaven. Don Piper did an excellent job with the descriptions of how one extraordinary experience influenced his entire life. The first part of the book gives a thrilling picture of heaven. God had something special in mind when he allowed this to happen to Don. It makes you want to look for the deeper meaning in your own life.

I could hardly put this book down. Have purchased more to give to friends. It was recommended to me by my mother and I am so glad I took the time to read it. If you have ever wondered what Heaven would be like, take the time to read this book.

I read this book only because it was recommended to me over and over by several friends and family members. What I expected was what the title indicates - a book about a person's after death experience. You can quickly read the 15 pages or so of the book that actually discusses this topic in any bookstore (sorry Barnes & Nobles). The rest of the book is an amateurish, disconnected series of discourses, many of which restate over and over details that have already been read. I think the guy just tried to pull enough "stuff" together to make a book and then slapped a catchy title on it. He's probably laughing all the way to the bank! Life's too short to spend time reading this book.

First 15 pages is about his 90 min. in heaven. The remainder of the book is about his rehabilitation in the hospital and shoving religion down your throat. What a waste of my money and time. One of the worst books I've ever read.
