Good book

I think that this book was a very good study guide. I didn't find any errors in it unlike some of the other books out there. I passed my cert test the 1st time so I can't and won't complain. It was a lot more helpful than other books and especially the texes website. I think this is a good buy, both because of the price and the material.

Not Impressed

I took the exam after studying this book.....the book address basic content whereas the test did not. The test was about application and use of appropriate curriculmn

Practice Test--not every answer is correct.

While taking a practice test from this book, I found a question that I knew the answer, researched, and asked my published and knowledgeable professor and found out...the answer in the book is WRONG. I could no longer trust the answers given for the practice test. I returned my book because it was no longer reliable.

The question I am referring to asks about graphemes in the word "bright".
--It's 6!

Extremely helpful

I am very glad I bought this book. This was all I needed to pass the EC-4 on the first try. I don't know how it compares to other review books since this is all I had, but it helped me.

Very Decent

I have never taken any education related courses prior to buying this book. I am currently enrolled in an online altern program that is set to begin in the Fall.

This book helped me pass the test. Not a highly impressive score(258)but I did pass and I guess that's what matters.

Although it was helpful, I wasn't entirely impressed with the book. I am sure that there are better books out there but then again I did pass on my first try with no prior educational background.

I would recommend buying this book as a supplement to other books that you may have. I would also recommend really focusing on the English portion of the study guides.

Hopefully Worth the Price!

I am cheap... and opted for the Cliffs Review for the TExES EC-4 Generalist, because it was less expensive than the $40-60 books also available. Really, though, I feel like it was a good deal. It covers pretty extensively the domains and competencies necessary for the test. It was especially helpful for the ELA & Reading questions (which make up about 40% of the test)!

The social studies portion of the book I found a little lacking, and the questions they give you to prepare with seemed of a different ilk than those you can get from the TExES site directly, but overall, the extra practice is a big help, and you can't beat the price!

I took the test only four days ago, so I can't say whether I passed, but I am certain I would have been much worse off if I hadn't invested several hours study time in this book. :)

Not a bad book for the money, not the best though

This is not a bad book for the money you spend. It includes practice tests and small summarys of each areas. I recommend the Preparing for the Texes PreK-4 Teacher Certification by Janice Nath as the best study book. This book does have practice test that the other one doesn't. Nath's book does include more summary and explination of each area as well as sample questions after each part. If you can't afford Nath's book get this one, it isn't bad.

Excellent Review Book

This is an excellent book. It covers what you need to know and WHY! The exam section gives detailed explainations as to why the coreect answer is correct and why the others are incorrect. It really helped me pass the test.

I studied this book for 10 days, then took the CAT administered EC - 4 Generalist exam. I passed.

Search No Futher

I had two exams that I needed to take, the Generalist EC-4 being one of them. This manual covers all the content needed in a CONCISE "Cliff Notes" way! To the point. I just wish that Cliffs Test Prep had a manual for the "other" teacher exam I had to take!!! The other prepatory manual was nebulous, VERY general and alot of needless wording. Sooooo, if you are taking the Generalists exams.....the Cliff Test Prep is the way to go!
