I have a very open mind to conspiracy theories. I believe that the government had some role in the killings of JFK, RFK, and MLK and was either criminally negligent in 9/11 or let it happen on purpose. However, I thought this book was awful. It is not really about 9/11 but rather about the media coverup. The analysis of the media is nothing new compared to works by people like Noam Chomsky and unlike Chomsky, Zwicker takes a very personal tone. He spends his time either whining about how he and other 9/11 researchers can't get their work published, slandering people on the left who don't agree with him, or in pseudo-scientific nonsensical analyses of the media. He essentially implies that people like Noam Chomsky and Amy Goodman (Democracy Now!) are agents of the CIA because they don't promote or agree with all the 9/11 conspiracy theories! A true American is a Caucasian or African-American Christian that loves his country. That's all there is to it.

America was discovered by Caucasian Christians and settled as a land where they could practice Protestantism freely. The Catholic church had grown corrupt and was persecuting other Christians for not following their newly-proclaimed dogma.

Americans soon found they had neighbors whom they mistakenly yclept Indians, whom they shared the truth of Christ with. The two got along well, but began to make deals with each other and change their minds afterward which led them to get into squabbles. America generously agreed to give certain portions of America to the Indians and they happily accepted.

Over in Africa, the Arabs were capturing African-Americans and enslaving them. America took up a collection and bought all the slaves from the Arab invaders, with the agreement that the African-Americans work for them to pay off the debt. The African-Americans kindly accepted. The Americans then shared the truth of Christ with their new African-American friends.

The World saw how free and happy America was and sought to destroy it. Britain, an evil empire that encompassed half the world decided to invade. Even though America was greatly out-numbered, God gave her the power to fight off the evil invaders and keep America the bastion of freedom it was.

When England was in rubble, the Americans got together and wrote down how their government worked so their descendants would never forget how it was done. They called it the Constitution. It said that Americans would be free to say anything they wanted, and practice any form of Christianity they wanted. They were kind enough to forgive the Catholic church for what it did and allowed people to be Catholic if they wanted as well. As well as a myriad of other wonderful things, it also stated that Americans' should be allowed to carry firearms.

Even though they would have been kicked out of the original America, there has arisen a new "false-American" that wants to destroy the country that has given him everything. They call themselves liberals, or sometimes progressives. They want to expand the Indians' territory to cover most if not all of America's territory, and they tell the African-Americans lies about how they were slaves. They burn American flags and claim the first Americans were devil worshippers. They also want to destroy the constitution because it gives people the freedom of religion and the right to bear firearms.

Yes, there is such as thing as true Americans, and unfortunately false Americans as well. The difference is obvious: one loves his country and wants to keep it like the original Americans had it, the other hates it and wants to destroy it.

Following in the tradition of David Ray Griffin's sci-fi series of 911 conspiracy books, and the three stooges Loose Change videos, Barrie Zwicker offers a compendium of theirs and other rabid 911 conspiracy cottage industry exploiters easily refuted claims.

Watching the behavior of the "truth" brigade reveals a fascinating phenomenon commonly known as the "Reverse David Brock Syndrome." Once David Brock was the scourge of the left when he championed Justice Thomas and slimmed Anita Hill. But Brock, the creator of Media Matters, currently enjoys the undying gratitude and blind allegiance of Liberals for his complete transformation into a Hillary Clinton crusader.

Imagine the ultra Liberal/Socialist Noam Chomsky, one of the treasured darlings of the anti American set, being dissed by Zwicker for not embracing the Bush/Israel, and now American media, conspiracy theory. Who is next on Zwicker's excommunication list? Howard Zinn? Keith Olbermann? Rosie O'Donnell? Charlie Sheen? Possibly even The Boss?

The idea of not only the American media being in on 911, but the British media as well, is a bizarre claim. Considering the "truthers" favorite piece of evidence of the 911 Bush/Israel conspiracy that the BBC reported the collapse of WTC 7, some 20-30 minutes prior to its collapse, would indicate that confiding with the media to help you initiate a massive conspiracy is probably not the swiftest idea. Naturally, when the BBC renounced this false story, the "truthers" claimed they were pressured into retracting the story. But here is the BBC reply:

"We didn't get told in advance that buildings were going to fall down. We didn't receive press releases or scripts in advance of events happening. In the chaos and confusion of the day, I'm quite sure we said things which turned out to be untrue or inaccurate - but at the time were based on the best information we had."

Had Zwicker never heard of the 1999 Payne Stewart incident where his Learjet Model 35 flew for two hours, without any response to FAA controllers, before F-16's intercepted the jet? I wonder what trumped up maneuvers the government had diverted NORAD with when Stewart's jet was wandering the skies over the U.S.?

But where in any of these cottage industry 911 conspiracy books and videos do these bastions of truth and enlightenment ever discuss Sandy Burger's stealing and shredding of stolen 911 documents from the National Archives? I know that the conspiratorial minded loved Waco and Ruby Ridge during the Clinton Administration, but does Clinton get a pass on 911? Maybe it is because his wife is close to getting the Executive Office that the "truthers" excuse Bill's complicity in 911.

Just as Geraldo was confronted with the embarrassment of no riches in Al Capne's vault, so to is the inevitable fate of Zwicker and company when the "truthers" realize their Emperor is wearing his birthday suit.

After reading this book, I just wanted to laugh and the leaps people can make and others will believe.

Almost everybody has seen the headlines in the check-out lines and had a chuckle. We all know there are those who take this stuff seriously. The same can be said of the 911 "conspiracy". Some folks pay absolutely no attention to the various and many investigations that have disproved 99% of all the bogus claims but go orgasmic over the latest Youtube video by Joe Blow claiming he has the ultimate 911 truth. If you don't believe my conspiracy theory you are part of the plot - the perfect defense mechanism. I try to point out that despite universal claims of inside knowledge and the real "truth", the stories contradict each other in almost every detail. For example, the hijackers cannot be (1) alive & well, (2) non-existent, (3) murdered, (4) Mossad agents, (5) al Qaeda agents or (6) under remote mind control by the CIA.

Barrie Zwicker is described as a Canadian alternative writer and a left wing political activist (Wiki). Those phrases should set off warning bells as to his bias before we start. That is not to say that political leanings are always a factor - the liberal Skeptic Magazine came up with the same conclusions as the conseravite Popular Mechanics and the neutral Engineers of America and, for that matter, the 911 commission. Physical evidence is no longer used in the conspiracy since they were quite easy to disprove. A political conspiracy is easier to trot since it is entirely subjective, based on a hodge podge of overheard snatches of conversation, internet chatter and bizarre tales that almost always have a simple explanation, i.e. "pull" down WTC7 meant "pull" the men from the bldg but of course it was taken out of context and transformed into one of the most-quoted pieces of "evidence" around. Zweiker plays it safe - making several proposals that if proved would leave no doubt that indeed it was a conspiracy.

The fallacy of that approach is the same as its construction - its utter subjectivity. If I prove 10 but disprove 5 is it conspiracy? If I can't prove any but disprove one, does it fall apart? He carefully does not make the error of others and try for exactness. He asserts that the media were part of the "plot" by repeating erroneous stories, relying on unknown sources and in general, supporting the series of events proved by investigations. Someone has calculated the thousands it would take to pull off something of this magnitude and yet not a single soul has come forward with a confession...strange in this day of the confessional.

People are now noticing how other conspiracies are intertwining and becoming part of the mythology. These "odd? ideas are standard fare for the conspiracy addict but not the general public - Jewish bankers (Anti-Semites are drawn to such crap), New World Order, Knights Templar, the Illuminati, Big Oil, CIA remote mind control, the Vatican, aliens... Some sites now headline the catchy phrase - "No Planes, No Holocaust" - further damaging the dwindling credibility of the "movement". The success of this movement speaks volumes about our inability to think critically about problems. How much easier it is to imagine dark cabals of whispers and payoffs than the horrific truth. It is an exercise in nonsense, irrationality, political ideology and wish fulfillment for big kids. The results, however, are as tragic as any conspiracy buff could imagine. The "Patriot Act", "Homeland Security", the war in Iraq, the loss of liberties agreed to by both parties, the never ending war and surveillance...those are outcomes of 9-11 and do not even require a dark, secret plot as an explanation.

I can't say enough good things about Barrie Zwicker's book. It is filled with wisdom pieces throughout. Barrie takes on the challenge of why people aren't accepting that 9/11 was an inside job and even devotes a whole chapter to a former hero of his, Noam Chomsky, selling out. I might also add Amy Goodman's name to that list. I couldn't put the book down. After reading 150 pages in my first sitting, I was compelled to write to Barrie letting him know how much I appreciated his book. Upon further reading I was not disappointed. That is an understatement for this very important book.

I have seen many of different movies and read many other books on the subject, and Zwicker's approach is the best I have seen, in my opinion. Go out and get this book NOW, and I guarantee you will be impressed!!!

In his book "Towers of Deception: the Media Cover-Up of 9/11", Barrie Zwicker complains that the term "conspiracy theory" is used pejoratively to dismiss or denigrate unwelcome arguments. But charity clearly begins at home, because Zwicker has never met a conspiracy theory he didn't like. To begin with, he believes that the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11 was an "inside job", or "false-flag operation", carried out by rogue elements within the US government. But that is just the tip of the iceberg, for he also believes that the Madrid train bombings (2004), the Beslan school massacre (2004), and the London subway bombings (2005) were all "false-flag ops".

The extent of Zwicker's paranoia can be gauged by his explanation of why so many important people on the Left reject the idea that 9/11 was an inside job (p. 220): "That the agenda of Chomsky, Barsamian et al would be so widespread and pursued with such intensity begs explanation. One theory would be incompetence ... Another theory would be that some, perhaps a surprisingly large percentage, of these individuals are following instructions that benefit the national security state; that they are, in other words, agents. The nature and consistency of the anomalies they present prohibit this theory from being rejected out of hand ... This is, indeed, a not unreasonably founded conspiracy theory." In fact, most people would be hard pressed to concoct a more far-fetched theory without recourse to UFOs. There is a much simpler explanation: Chomsky et al are correct.

As for the evidence showing that 9/11 was an inside job, Zwicker rounds up the usual suspects and throws in a few of his own. He is, of course, big on the collapse of WTC7. In the case of the Twin Towers, the collapses were photographed in such detail that the correctness of the "official" explanation is hardly in doubt (e.g., in both towers, structural collapse began at the entry point of the aircraft). In the case of WTC7, there are no photographs that show clearly the extent of the damage or the collapse itself; hence the scope for wild theorizing is much greater. Zwicker never explains why, if "rogue operatives" decided to destroy the Twin Towers, they felt it was necessary to destroy WTC7 as well. He also never gets to the real question, which is why anyone would devise a plan that required planes to crash into the Twin Towers followed by the use of hidden explosives to bring them down. ("Don't let `em see the explosions! That's the key to our plan!") That's not a plan; it's a Rube Goldberg machine. Only someone who has never had to carry out a big project in the real world could find this plausible.

The weird thing is that Zwicker cites material on how people make up facts to maintain a given worldview, misinterpret facts, etc. So how could he have got it so wrong, and bought into such nonsense? The answer is contained in several innocuous sentences in the book. Zwicker writes that, while seeing the events unfolding on TV on 9/11, he very quickly concluded that the destruction of the towers was the equivalent of the Reichstag fire (p. 6). He quotes Webster Tarpley, who has clearly influenced his thinking, as saying (p. 187) "I concluded more or less instantaneously that the 9/11 events were a provocation by this rogue network ..." In other words, Zwicker and friends instantly made up their minds and have maintained the same opinion ever since. But because these conclusions were reached before there was any evidence to go on, they are the result of mental predispositions and biases.

I gave the book two stars mainly because Zwicker's treatment of Noam Chomsky, with its continual oscillation between fawning adulation and vituperative disgust, is worth a read.

The writing here is the best by anyone putting forth alternative versions of 9/11.Better than Webster Tarpley or David Ray Griffin.There is also an accolade by Michael Parenti which is very impressive since he has been associated with David Barsamians "Alternative Radio " show for quite a while. That show (alternative radio) has failed to have even 1 speaker challenging the official story.
Several things make this book stand out .1 A history of False Flag Operations .2 An excellent critique of Chomsky and the Left.3 A great chapter on mind control :what it is ,how it works ,who is doing it ,etc
Overall this book makes a great introduction to the topic of 9/11 and false flag operations .I also found out about other books of interest here including : Stinnetts Pearl Harbour book and Stockdales "In Love and War."

I find his attack on Chomsky to be fallacious and extremely disrespectful.
Even if Chomsky wasn't right about 9-11, to attack a man who is almost 80 years old and has tirelessly devoted his life to help people is shameful.
Furthermore, I feel Zwicker doesn't understand Chomsky.
Chomsky is an anarchist who stands against government and capitalism. He is in favor of a federated, decentralized system of free associations with democratic worker and consumer councils, regional federations etc.
In one of his lectures Chomsky said that anytime we have doubts, we should bend over backwards to give the government the benefit of the doubt, to see clearly that EVEN WITHOUT digging deep, (as one must do to study 9-11 "inside job" evidence)and EVEN saying "the government is right" about matters where we have doubts, the evidence that incriminates structures of power like governments and corporations is obvious, overwhelming and right on the surface.
One of the things that bothers me about many on the 9-11 truth movement is that if the US government had secretly attacked a foreign target(instead of the alleged 9-11 "inside job") to blame it on some enemy and justify invasions and wars, they wouldn't care nearly as much. The reason is they think American blood is more valuable than the blood of foreigners, especially in the third world.
For many years the US has killed millions of people with lies, but the alleged lies on 9-11 are considered more important.
A really moral human being wouldn't spend most of his time trying to prove that 9-11 was an inside job because of the 3000 people who died that day. No, that wouldn't be the reason.
The US invasion of Iraq has so far resulted in the deaths of 700,000 Iraqis and the maiming of millions, so in that respect it would make more sense to spend one's time as an activist fighting and uncovering the injustice of that massacre, the fact the US invaded illegally with a bunch of lies, had supported Saddam through his worst atrocities, supports other dictators in the middle east and around the world who kill and torture millions etc (quite apart from the fact that the lies that maintain capitalism and the state kill and opress 10 times more EVERY DAY than on 9-11; tens of thousands of people, especially children die every day because of hunger and disease, work related injury and illness etc)
The main reason why a moral person would become a "9-11 truth" activist is because s/he thinks that the "9-11 lie" is THE big lie that justifies the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan etc and the supression in the US of freedom to express criticism against such policies.
So a moral person contemplating becoming a "9-11 truth" activist is faced with at least 3 questions:

1- Is it true that 9-11 is the "big lie" used to justify these things?

2- Is the "inside job" theory correct and do I require expert knowledge to figure it out?

3-Does "9-11 truth" activism offer more chances of preventing pain injustice, suffering and destruction than other kinds of activism?

I'll briefly answer these questions to show that Chomsky has taken a moral path:

1- Chomsky believes that the "big lie" that justifies invasions, wars etc is not 9-11, but the structure of power (media, government, corporations etc) i.e. those who have power and wealth to disseminate their point of view and brainwash and seduce people into accepting their power and the lies that uphold it.
In other words, the big lie is institutional, not based on a single event like 9-11. People who understand institutional factors, like Chomsky, are not in favor of the Iraq war even though they don't believe 9-11 was an inside job. They want to get rid of the Bush admin and the whole system regardless.

2- Chomsky is humble enough to say he lacks the expertise. He has often said that any kid out of high school who reads can talk about foreign policy, because world events are not a science. On the other hand, he maintains that in order to talk about science beyond a basic level(e.g. quantum physics, engineering, etc)one cannot acquire the expertise in a few hours over the internet, especially when talking about complicated events creating massive chaos, like huge boeings crashing into the WTC.
Therefore he relies on the consensus of most engineers, who DENY that 9-11 was an inside job. Chomsky's reason for doing so is not just his lack of expertise, but the fact that his immense experience and knowledge from decades of studying the US system, reveal to him the prima facie lack of credibility the theory has i.e. he doesn't doubt that the Bush administration is morally capable of such an act. He says that it's a porous system and it would have probably leaked.
He doubts that the Bush admin would have taken such a risk, which would have meant being before firing squads and the end of the republican party. That's quite apart from other improbable events, such as the installation of tons of explosives in crowded buildings like the twin towers.
Chomsky also points out how the 9-11 truth movement has gotten much more media attention that radical critiques of capitalism, the state and foreign policy (i.e. serious critiques that challenge the perceived soundness of the system).
In other words, the 9-11 truth movement is much more welcome by centers of power, which means it is not dealing with the big lie, and hitting them where it REALLY hurts.

3- For the reasons I mentioned, Chomsky believes "9-11 truth" activism is a wild goose chase and it is better to concentrate on other issues. Also, it seems to me that even if the "inside job" theory were true, a heated discussion about technical issues such as the effect of the plane impact on the fireproofing, the distinction between melted steel or aluminum, squirts coming out of windows etc will always retain a significant level of uncertainty and the other side will be able to provide plausible counter-theories (let's not forget that extremely complex events can often be arranged in different plausible patterns).
For example, the debate on democracynow between the directors of loose change and popular mechanics shows that.There's an easier way.
Chomsky thinks that Americans need to put themselves in the victim's shoes and realize basic, SIMPLE truths, such as that if anybody does to the US a fraction of what the US to others, we consider it an outrage.
Americans need to learn to reject the violence of their state by activating their morality--realizing the lies, hypocrisy and terrorism of the US that are obvious and right on the surface and do not require a zillion hours of looking at complicated facts about engineering, chemistry, physics etc.
Apart from not being effective, it perpetuates the idea that our problems are the product of a "few bad apples", rather than the system of hegemony.
In other words, the "9-11 truth" movement is the real gate keeper for the elite they claim to attack

I won't waste my time reading about it unless the media breaks the story."

I have found Barrie's brilliance on the subject of 9-11 second only to his heart-felt patriotism and sincerity. There is no wildly sensational conjecture in this book. Every single word pays for itself, and the DVD which is included is a perfect tool for reaching others less inclined to read a fascinating book (pity them!).

The chapter that changed me the most was on Noam Chomsky as a left-wing gatekeeper, and I believe this to be some of Zwicker's greatest contribution. Like the author, I have been a fan of Chomsky for many years, indeed lost my political innocense reading him. But I was always confused about why he would go to bat for the Warren Commission and say that Oswald obviously commited the crime alone, when even the House Select Committee on Assassinations found that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, aside from the lunacy of the "single bullet theory" (thank you Arlen Specter - NOT!) And then after 9-11 when Chomsky's little 9-11 book came out, I started eating in big gulps wanting to know the truth and ended up with a bad case of indigestion by the end. He had only re-hashed typical US foreign policy tragedies and spoke of 9-11 as blowback, we finally reaped what we had sown - how neat and tidy. And to date Chomsky has refused to comment on the facts uncovered by the 9-11 Truth Movement, if he has even looked sincerely into them. He has contributed mightily, but I have taken him forever off of the pedestal and consigned him to the trashbin as a "leftwing gatekeeper". Chomsky has even threatened the left not to get into the area of 9-11 "conspiracy theories" because it would kill the left's chances for success. This threat is also an insult to the intelligence of the members of the left, as if they are incapable of studying ANY issue and deciding for themselves.

The term "leftwing gatekeeper" may sound a bit esoteric, or even cutesy, but it is very descriptive of this mechanism of the control of ideas and information, and as we learn more about 9-11 truth and what the tried and true commentators of the political left are saying, this term will come to be better understood and accepted. Towers of Deception helps immensely.

One of the author's most consistent points throughout is that the events of 9-11 are the mother issue of our day, or as he says "the linchpin" to understanding and exposing the wicked agenda of the "high cabal", to use Churchill's phrase. We will never alter the mainstream malaise with the ever-mesmerizing political status quo of dems vs. republicans, our team vs. theirs, until we come to grips with how and why 9-11 happened, and who-dunnit.

Finally, if you understand that 9-11 was an inside job, but are near suicidal because others just don't "get it" yet, Towers of Deception will help to heal your mind. If the light has not come on for you yet, but you are truly open minded, you should read David Ray Griffin's THE NEW PEARL HARBOR and TOWERS OF DECEPTION, and then you will know. The chapter that changed me the most was on Noam Chomsky as a left-wing gatekeeper, and I believe this to be some of Zwicker's greatest contribution. Like the author, I have been a fan of Chomsky for many years, indeed lost my political innocense reading him. But I was always confused about why he would go to bat for the Warren Commission and say that Oswald obviously commited the crime alone, when even the House Select Committee on Assassinations found that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, aside from the lunacy of the "single bullet theory" (thank you Arlen Specter - NOT!) And then after 9-11 when Chomsky's little 9-11 book came out, I started eating in big gulps wanting to know the truth and ended up with a bad case of indigestion by the end. He had only re-hashed typical US foreign policy tragedies and spoke of 9-11 as blowback, we finally reaped what we had sown - how neat and tidy. And to date Chomsky has refused to comment on the facts uncovered by the 9-11 Truth Movement, if he has even looked sincerely into them. He has contributed mightily, but I have taken him forever off of the pedestal and consigned him to the trashbin as a "leftwing gatekeeper". Chomsky has even threatened the left not to get into the area of 9-11 "conspiracy theories" because it would kill the left's chances for success. This threat is also an insult to the intelligence of the members of the left, as if they are incapable of studying ANY issue and deciding for themselves.

The term "leftwing gatekeeper" may sound a bit esoteric, or even cutesy, but it is very descriptive of this mechanism of the control of ideas and information, and as we learn more about 9-11 truth and what the tried and true commentators of the political left are saying, this term will come to be better understood and accepted. Towers of Deception helps immensely.

One of the author's most consistent points throughout is that the events of 9-11 are the mother issue of our day, or as he says "the linchpin" to understanding and exposing the wicked agenda of the "high cabal", to use Churchill's phrase. We will never alter the mainstream malaise with the ever-mesmerizing political status quo of dems vs. republicans, our team vs. theirs, until we come to grips with how and why 9-11 happened, and who-dunnit.

Finally, if you understand that 9-11 was an inside job, but are near suicidal because others just don't "get it" yet, Towers of Deception will help to heal your mind. It continues to amaze me that so many people in the US remain, or choose to remain in ignorance about the obvious inside job that was 9-11-2001.
The problem is very complex and quite psychological as 9-11 was deeply disturbing to each of us individually and collectively as a nation. Ever since 9-11, the media has acted as accessories after the fact in that they have blacked out almost all honest and productive discussion of the facts and promoted the wackiest conspiracy theory in US history, that of "patsie" Osama bin Laden being responsible for 9-11.

Barrie Zwicker's new book Towers of Deception is truly the Magnum Opus on the subject of media coverage of 9-11 truth / untruth. Mr. Zwicker has been a media critic for over 35 years, and his insightful writings and investigation into the events of 9-11 cast the brightest possible light on what is often the central question blocking a person's entry into the subject of 9-11 truth: "If 9-11 really was an inside job, the media would be all over this and by now we would all know the truth. I won't waste my time reading about it unless the media breaks the story."

Well, truth-seeker, I've read eight books on the events of 9-11 and attended two conferences of the 9-11 Truth Movement, and I have discovered just who the relevant media is regarding 9-11. It is the independent investigative journalists, physicists, engineers and usually former political leaders from around the world who dare to risk their reputations by writing the truth of this most important issue. I have heard Barrie Zwicker speak and present his findings several times and I obtained one of his DVDs "The Great Conspiracy: The 9-11 News Special You Never Saw" shortly after its release in 2004. I have found Barrie's brilliance on the subject of 9-11 second only to his heart-felt patriotism and sincerity. There is no wildly sensational conjecture in this book. The material presented in the book is based on factual information and indisputable evidence. It is presented in a logical and sequential manner.
The author has accumulated convincing evidence which proves beyond the shadow of a doubt the fact that 9/11 was the job of insiders.

My compliments to Mr. Zwicker for presenting an excellent work.

"We needed one then. We need one now. It's time."

What do we need? The sanctimonious voice in the radio advertisement claims we need a memorial to the victims of 9/11 to be paid for by ordinary citizens. I think it should be paid for by the corporate and political interests who were behind the so-called "terrorist attacks." If ordinary citizens are to dip into their pockets, it should be to pay for an independent investigation that would bring the truth of the government's complicity to light.

The truth is well-documented in several books, including Barrie Zwicker's "Towers of Deception: The Media Cover-Up of 9/11." Its primary focus is on the role that mainstream media has played in pulling the wool over our eyes and perpetuating the myth that the government was simply unprepared to prevent the attacks. The official story is full of holes and all too obvious contradictions, yet the media and a majority of the general public accept it.

Zwicker convincingly argues that 9/11 was a "false-flag operation," and that such operations are as old as politics itself. A false-flag operation is "a contrived, staged event, usually shocking, planned by its actual perpetrators to appear to have been done by others." Such operations are used to justify wars, the staging of coups, and the suspension of civil liberties.

9/11 was a false-flag operation, and Zwicker convincingly argues that the same is true of the "terrorist attacks" that followed overseas, including the Madrid Train bombings and the Beslan School Massacre of 2004, and the London bombings of July 7, 2005. As was the case with 9/11, contradictions abound in the government's official stories of these events, and the "evidence" is just as questionable (passports, etc, identifying the "terrorists," always miraculously survive the bombings to implicate someone other than the true culprits). These deceptive staged events are business as usual for our leaders, both foreign and domestic, and Zwicker fills us in on some false-flag operations from the past, along with their disastrous consequences.

Although a third of the American people now suspect that the American government was somehow involved in 9/11 (and the figures are considerably higher overseas), that still means two-thirds have swallowed the tale told by the 9/11 Commission, preposterous though it is.

Why?

Zwicker quotes E. Martin Schotz, a Boston psychologist and playwright, on the effect that 9/11 had on the masses:

"It is important to understand that one of the primary means of immobilizing the American people politically today is to hold them in a state of confusion in which anything can be believed but nothing can be known, nothing of significance, that is. And the American people are more willing to be held in this state because to 'know' the truth - as opposed to only 'believe' the truth - is to face an awful terror and to be no longer able to evade responsibility. It is precisely in moving from belief to knowledge that the citizen moves from irresponsibility to responsibility, from helplessness and hopelessness to action, with the ultimate aim of being empowered and confident in one's rational powers."

Zwicker brilliantly exposes the Invisible Government's disinformation campaigns, using puppets across the political spectrum all trained to ridicule "conspiracy theory," except, of course, the conspiracy theory at the heart of the "official" government sanctioned report. Zwicker offers a lenghty critique of Noam Chomsky, a guru of leftist thinking whom the author admits he once revered. "My admiration knew almost no bounds," Zwicker writes. "I have a stack of his books more than a foot high." Zwicker now sees Chomsky as a "gatekeeper" for the Invisible Government, an almost saintly figure on the left who speaks mostly truth, but stops short of speaking the whole truth and nothing but, because, as Zwicker says, "the most powerful disinformation is 90 percent true."

While I enjoyed this book, I think it was inferior to Griffin's book on 9/11. Granted this book focuses more so on the media's non-reaction and so-called de-facto cover up of 9/11.

I found that I enjoyed the book and did photocopy some pages here and there, but having read Griffin's book first this seemed to rehash similar points and didn't seem as extraordinary to me.

The chapter on Chomsky was quite interesting.

There are many good books on 9/11, but this one is unique in that it covers the media cover-up angle very well and in depth. Just why so very few in the mass media will touch the truth around 9/11 is still a mystery to me, though. Thank goodness there are some exceptions.

Out of this horrendous event, made so much more horrendous because it was without a doubt an "inside job," some good will come. All decent people in the world, from whatever race and political and religious affiliations, can agree on one thing when they see the official version of 9/11 is one of the biggest and most destructive lies of all time, and that is that all of us are in this together.

To those who perpetrated 9/11 and those who have worked to cover up the crime, I have this to say: Come clean. At least there is time to save your own souls.

Reading this book one has to know more about the involvement of Usama Bin Laden. Is he defecting free from any blame? From the sequence of events, every time 9/11 was questioned, Bin Laden came live on air to `remind us all' that he did it.

This is a ping-pong game. The rackets are the Think Tank in America whether D or R, they simply change places so deftly that all prior sins are pardoned, and we are only the balls.

Towers of Deception is one of four scholarly works published in recent months which put forward a logical, reasoned, well sourced and documented theory that the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 (9/11) were not the work of fanatical Muslims who hate `America, Freedom Liberty etc. etc.'. The attacks were orchestrated and intricately planned by a cabal within the Political-Intelligence-Military-Media-Financial-Corporate-Complex (PIMMFCC) via their various `moles' Cheny, Rumsfeld, and Blair et al. Amongst those that have studied all the available evidence, this theory is termed MIHOP (Made It Happen On Purpose). The motive for committing of this terror is that of control; to exercise full spectrum dominance. This is full spectrum dominance over the entire globe, its inhabitants and the totality of their affairs (economic, military, political, theological, scientific etc.)

The other books which can be accorded this title of scholarly work published recently are Synthetic Terror Made in the USA by Webster Tarpley, Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11 by David Ray Griffin and The Terror Conspiracy by Jim Marrs.

Some of these policies were outlined in the document (now widely publicised), produced by the neo-con think-tank, `Project for a New American Century' entitled `Rebuilding America's Defences'. Other policies are openly exemplified by the attitudes western (US & European) PIMMFCC in their daily modus-operandi.

Barry Zwicker's book at 400 pages (including 28 pages reference/notes section and 7 page index) differs from the fore mentioned scholarly works in many ways. Four of the most important in my opinion are this:
1. The evidence that 9/11 was in fact an inside job and planned and made to happen, is not presented by an endless recitation of anomalies (smoking guns) which expose the official 9/11 "government conspiracy theory" as a fraud. Barry Zwicker presents this evidence as a series of 26 illustrated and methodically described exhibits (A-Z). Anyone reading, who is sceptical can therefore immediately form a `de facto opinion', rather than simply an `opinion'. The latter simple `opinion' is based simply on the misinformation and repetitive parroting of the `official government conspiracy theory'.
2. As a respected journalist and broadcaster Barry Zwicker examines to reasons as to why there has been a media-blackout and media cover-up of the evidence that contradicts the official 9/11 `government conspiracy theory' exposing it as a completely contradictory fraud from beginning to end. The book covers in depth the excuses given by the media, so that the buck can be passed and the hard questions simply ignored and avoided by the main stream media. Barry exposes the duplicity of media coverage by using several recent case histories as examples.
3. The book, written in a journal style includes, short biographical information about key figures in the 9/11 truth investigations, as well as providing relevant illustrations and photographs giving this overall style of a cohesive dossier of intelligent evidence.


4. Titled `The Shame of Noam Chomsky and Gatekeepers of the Left', chapter 5 is a powerful exposé of the duplicity and lies of the Gate-keeping community. In it Barry Zwicker conducts analyses of the work published by Chomsky, exposing it as powerful propaganda aimed at stifling debate, argument and examination of evidence. The motive is simply to perpetuate the left-right political power-system and paradigm. In an analysis worthy of note, (particularly by any scholar of Linguistics and Philosophy) Barry Zwicker conducts an easy to understand textual analysis of Chomsky's opinions on 9/11 and the JFK assassination. He discovers that Chomsky is engaged in the very same use of propaganda and disinformation tactics that he is widely regarding as condemning and exposing. In a paradigm shifting chapter Barry Zwicker concludes that the so called intellectuals simply exist to perpetuate the left-right political system, of which they are an intricate party member.
Chapter 5 alone should make Barry Zwicker's book a widely read and referenced work. It is nothing more than a literary coup d'état exposing the shameful practices of Noam and his intellectual gatekeeping gang. It can be taken as granted that the right wing media will avoid any review of the material presented by Barry Zwicker, but when the left wing media ignore it also - this should make this book compulsory reading and an immediate best seller.

This is another excellent book about the 9/11 massacre.
After reading it, it is extremely difficult not to believe that it was an Inside Job (MIHOP).

Because, cui bono? 9/11 was fabulously profitable, not only for put option writers with their stunning foreknowledge, but in the long run for the merchants of death, the arms industry.

If it was an inside job, then 9/11 (as was the murder of JFK) is a clear indication that the US is ruled by a parallel invisible government. For the author the heart of this invisible government is the CIA.
9/11 would then be a false-flag operation, as there have been so many before, but a particular brutal one. It was a pretext for war (Iraq, Afghanistan) and for a drastic reduction of civil liberties (Patriot Act).

This book also exposes the criminal silence of the media, which are held in a stranglehold by the military, industrial and intelligence communities. As ex-CIA chief W. Colby said: `the CIA owns everyone of any major significance in the major media.'

This book contains a remarkable DVD, excellent historical information, e.g. the fascist Butler conspiracy in the 1930s, and presents in depth portraits of courageous researchers of the truth.

A must read for all those interested in the future of mankind.

Five years ago and still in the news? This is because the issues are painful and because there is stillso much suffering arising out of the horrific events of September 11, 2001. Much healing has yet to happen. Conspiracy theorists have had a wonderful time with 9/11: 'The CIA did it,' 'It is Reichstag 9/11,' and so on, but if you speak to many Americans in this vein they still respond with pain and then outrage or simply, rage.

There have been a number of books written about 9/11 and there will be another two released in October of this year. So why this one?

Zwicker is not a conspiracy theorist, rather he lays out Exhibits - twenty-six of ehem - about lines of evidence which, if proven (even a few of them), point inescapably to the conclusion of White House complicity in the 9/11 disaster. He talks about conspiracy theory, arguing his points with extraordinarily detailed (and footnoted) research. The book, very well written, finely illustrated, and difficult to put down, tells a story most of us have never heard because the media have not given it coverage. Contained with the book is a DVD: The 9/11 News Special You Never Saw.

According to his reasoning one can come away from the events and the evidence of 9/11 with one of four conclusions: 1) that the Official Story is true: the US at all levels was caught totally by surprise and off guard; or 2) that US agencies received some intelligence but it was either too late or insufficient; or 3) that the intelligence received was sufficient but that the White House for some reason let the events unfold as they did; or 4) that the White House or other US agency set the events up to unfold as they did. He outlines rules of evidence and the evidence iteself very carefully, letting the reader conclude which of the four scenarios is the case, subject to responsible inquiry into the evidence.

Here are some of Zwicker's Exhibits:
A: World Trade Center Building 7, a 47 story steel-framed skyscraper, collapsed due to an admitted controlled demolition on the afternoon of 9/11 after suffering minimal damage due to the collapse of the nearby Two Towers. It contained CIA offices as well as the Mayor of New York's Office of Emergency Management. How, when, and why was this building wired for demolition?

B & F: NORAD's duty is to protect this continent; to this end they practise a great deal, intercepting wayward aircraft about a hundred times a year. since the 1960s the time taken to scramble fighters has varied upward from about five minutes but has always been less than thirty. Why, on 9/11 after the FAA had advised NORAD within five minutes of the first highacking, did it take seventy eight nimutes to get fighters on the scene? Way too late, of course. This has to be the greatest military failure ever on the part of the US!

H: The collapse of the Twin Towers and WTC Building 7 exhibited eleven distinct features of controlled demolition.

I: the WTC Towers were over over-engineered for the possibility of aircraft hitting them, and damage to the central core girders from the actual impacts would have been slight. Also, if the floors of the buildings had really pancaked the central core girders would have remained standing, some of them to high levels; instead they were found in thirty foot lengths - consistent with controlled demolition, and convenient for trucking away.

J: Steel-framed high-rises do not collapse due to fires. There have been several such fires (Los Angeles, 1998; and Philadelphia, 1991; as well as others elsewhere) which burned far longer than shose in the WTC buildings, none of which caused significant structural damage. That the fires in the Towers caused their collapse is preposterous.

K: One firefighter gave an oral report that there were 'popping' sounds as though the building were being demolished. In the North Tower he found heavy damage in the lobby and later heard huge explosions while he was within the Tower. A pamedic also tells about 'popping' sounds as the South Tower collapsed into its footprint; he also likens these sounds to those accompanying a controlled demolition. An engineer far below ground in the North Tower was told of a loud explosion and, as he came up toward ground level witnessed scenes of incredible explosive destruction in places not subject to the aircraft impacts. Other witnesses reported hearing loud explosions, and one other employee working on sub-level one reported a massive explosion from below - before the aircraft impacted.

M: President George W. Bush declared that he had seen the first impacting aircraft on regular TV on 9/11. But that French-shot footage was not available until the next day. In addition, the President, reading to an elementary school class and, knowing America was under attack, should have been removed by the Secret Service; after all he's the President and a target. Yet he remained reading calmly for minutes more; did he have knowledge that he was not a target?

Zwickers detailed Exhibits go on and on, the last one being that a neo-conservative group including, among its members Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney, asserted that 'a new Pearl Harbor' would be helpful in realizing plans for the New American Century.

But this book is not simply about conspiracies either: Zwicker goes into considerable detail about how we fool ourselves into believing half-truths and lies, and about how we sort of fill in the dots given information bits and the suggestion of a story that is slanted the way someone wants it. This is a very clear heads-up for every single one of us, the Official Story of 9/11 being just a sample, not only of how it is done to us, but also of how we do it to ourselves.

Why do the media not give the real truth to the public? Is this a scandal the scope of which is so devastating as to be the equivalent of war?

Why should we want to pursue this investigation into the truth behind the events of 9/11 - it is because we want to and need to come out of that denial which is such a prominent feature of Western Life. With denial, healing is impossible; coming out of denial, healing although painful becomes possible. Towers of Deception can be a very disturbing book to read and whether you come away believing as some do that Bush and Rumsfeld should be tried for treason is not the point: the point is to wake up. And that is why this review has been written.

This is perhaps the most important lie that has ever been put upon the world and Barrie Zwicker does an excellent job in showing that this is business as usual for the shadow government running the show. Zwicker gives examples of other false flag operations that have plagued humanity and 9/11 is only the latest.

For those of you who still believe that Osama did it (and perhaps that Santa Clause is busy making toys at the North Pole) this book is a jaw dropping presentation of how they pulled off a giant psychological operation and how the media became the cheerleaders.

As mentioned in Barrie Zwicker's work.... How would it be possible - unless there was deliberate paralysis -- that not a single US Air Force interceptor would turn a wheel until it was too late, during a drama in the skies on 9/11, of almost two hours? Sixty-seven times in the previous year fighters were scrambled in minutes for lesser emergencies.

Why have media never challenged President Bush's claim that he saw, on ordinary TV, the first plane hit the WTC? Footage of the first plane hitting was not aired until the next day, September 12th, 2001. Why haven't the media asked Bush about his magic TV?

Why did Larry Silverstein, the lease holder on the World Trade Center, publicly admit he was involved in a decision to "pull" WTC building 7 late on the afternoon of 9/11, even though the building was not hit by a plane and suffered little damage? Controlled demolitions require weeks of preparation: why have media pointedly ignored this glaring anomaly?

In Towers of Deception: The Media Cover-Up of 9/11 Zwicker provides readers with 26 "Exhibits" of evidence proving beyond a reasonable doubt that 9/11 was an inside job, what's known as a "false flag operation." In a false flag operation, an attack is self-inflicted in order to mobilize the public against a designated enemy. Eighteen such operations are described in Towers of Deception. They include the non-existent attack on American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964.
This "attack" provided justification for the Vietnam War, costing 58,000 US lives and 3-million Vietnamese lives.

Sort of like my having to buy a new state-published copy of Mao's little Red Book in 1970 for 75 cents.

As to content, there seemed to be multiple themes asserted, each interwoven but also contending: (1) America has a long history of deception and violent scheming in order to maintain elite rule. (2) When deception and force fail, then coercion is employed in both subtle and then escalating overt forms to disorient and control. (3) The coercive powers of the state are go great that media voices to the public are negated in revealing the actual long-term aggressive intentions of America.

It's interesting that the writer does not outright charge the U.S. government with complicity in 9/11 (as far as this reader can tell), leaving that particular allegation to be developed by other conspiracy conjecturalists. The major charge seems to be something less, which is that the media has been cornered and pressured not to go certain places, or to cover-up findings when it stumbles onto a reality at odds with propaganda, and it has been just this way with government conspiracies past and present.

The book certainly was informative reading to better recognize how different the Canadian cultural and psychological mindset might be. For a well informed American citizen and patriot, it's sort of like mosquitos, which one can swat and swat but never really diminish in its annoying effect.
